Castello Restaurant in Bath and North East Somerset

I was taken out to Castello's for my birthday. It was the first time I had been since it was a Nat West Bank. to start with the area inside seems huge in comparison to the bank. The service from the door being opened for us to enter was great. The staff were friendly and engaging, totally professional, and the pace of service was excellent. The food choices were very good with portions just right. The food was delicious, and I would definitely recommend them as somewhere special to go to in Radstock. Not only was my birthday enjoyable, but so was our evening in Costello's.

Great service and wonderful food. On the expensive side but it's worth it. Drinks are at Bath prices.

First time there for sisters birthday, fantastic service, friendly staff, and the food was top quality! However, my only major disappointment was that with a table of 14 people, after we had finished our meal, we were told that the total bill wasn't allowed to be split. Of course not everyone carries cash! So one person had to pay for everyone via card and with what cash people had on them, which wasn't fair, and had to chase getting the remaining cash from people the next day. I've never been to a restaurant who refuses to split the bill between different paying families, especially with the total that was being spent. I have to give a 3 for that because it caused a big headache and made making payments very frustrating as we had to do all the maths on the restaurants behalf. The food however was great, a lot of people had different things and everyone really enjoyed the food. The staff were also really friendly and attentive to the person who's birthday it was, and as there was a young child the staff being engaging.

Great restaurant to dine at - you wouldn't think that you were in Radstock. This one of my me and wife's regular place to go out for food as it's just down the road from us.

Great place fab food and wonderful service.

Ordered a steak here the other night £28 it came with chips I wouldn’t say the steak was a 10oz it was certainly smaller than that. Came with a handful of chips in a carton. The steak was overcooked and the service was really poor. I was still very hungry after. Five star prices are one star restaurant felt a ripped off to be honest.

What an amazing find. A fabulous restaurant with amazing food and friendly staff. Good Gluten Free options too. We went there for dinner one evening and loved it so much we went back the next evening. All the food is very fresh, and I had the best Sea Bass I've ever had. Thanks for looking after us so well.

This place is my favourite. Brilliant quality every single time Can’t resist the Steak. And the cheesecake is unbelievable!!! Go here I guarantee you won’t be disappointed

Absolutely astonishing! I’m based in London so you can imagine the diversity of Italian restaurants around, but now I was just passing by Radstock and spotted this restaurant so I told myself it’s worth of trying. THE BEST PASTA! Food was delicious, I had Pasta Arrabiata (absolutely delicious) accompanied by a glass of Montepulcino. Service was outstanding (served by Alexandra)and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very cosy and friendly from the start until the end. Warmly recommend, 10/10!

Lovely Italian place, great freshly cooked food, and very accommodating.

A local for us and have visited many times. Last couple of times, food has been under par. Tonight my husband had a vegetable risotto but it was so salty he couldn’t eat it.we all tasted it and agreed. Another couple had a side of Greek salad so he had a little of that on the side as he wasn’t eating the risotto. When asked if everything was ok he explained and they offered to make a new one but (as often happens in a group) everyone else was way into their meals so he declined. The waiter returned to say that the ‘salty’ feta (from the salad) had created the over salty flavour! We were charged the full price for an uneaten risotto and when queried, no apology just rudeness stating it was my husband’s own fault. Extremely poor customer service. Will not return.

Eat here whenever I visit my dad and food never fails us. Generous portions & delicious food. Usually quiet when we go early evening. Staff attentive and efficient.

Calm, warm, relaxed, . Overall fantastic . And to make it even better I was ale to order my food for a time on the phone and arrive to eat it within 5 minutes due to lack of time. Very happy 😊 will definitely return with the family

We dropped in on the chance of a free table and nothing was too much bother for our waitress. We were taken to our table and ordered food and drinks. The mains were of a sensible size and our desserts were nice and fresh. Looking forward to going back again soon.

It was an okay experience. We were disappointed with the choice of menu for an italian restaurant. Garlic breads were good but the quality of pizzas including toppings, presentation and consistency (ordered 2 pizzas the same but looked different and consistency of cooking different). Not like the pictures online. We were so looking forward to it but sadly they were bland in tasting with no fresh herbs. However, the restaurant itself had a very nice decor and the staff were attentive but it was very busy and loud. The last time we visited this restaurant was a long time ago and had good memories. Clearly popular but just not for us.

The worst meal we have ever had!!! Tomato Caprese. Carelessly prepared, no spices, no balsamic vinegar, just a touch of oil. In good Italian restaurants it comes along with fresh panini. Was missing here. The Calzone Piccante was a complete mess. The dough is just horrible. Inedible. The side salad with salad dressing was also in the same pizza box as the calzone. The Pizza Castello special: No words to describe this sad taste experience.

The place is nice and the staff were great but the food is - sorry - terrible. Its the worst pizza I've ever had and it cost £16.50. Its difficult to make pizza this badly - very poor quality flour and clearly there was not time for fermentation and rising. The topping wasn't great either. I hate giving negative reviews but to pay £150 for bad quality food is upsetting.

What can I say? Castello,you are amazing My family organised a surprise 60th Birthday lunch. From the moment I walked in,the service was faultless. 17 adults and 5 children including a 2 month old baby and no pre orders required!!!!! You were so accommodating and happy to join in the celebrations and take photos. The food was very very tasty and piping hot. Your chef deserves a medal getting 21 meals cooked to perfection and all served at the same time. Simply the best. Thank you to you all.

We ate early, so hard to give it an atmosphere, as it was very quiet. But the staff were warm and welcoming and the service was attentive. The food was very good and filling. Very enjoyable, an ideal stop after a hospital appointment.

This is some of the best food we’ve had that’s not far from us 30/40 min drive, we will be coming back for more that’s for sure. Food is perfect Cocktail’s are perfect.

Another great meal at Castellos. We were reflecting during our meal on how we've been here over 10 times over the years as this is our local restaurant and we've never had a bad meal. Tonight we enjoyed prawns and calamari to start, pasta pomadora and Tropicana pizza. All was served promptly and excellent service as we were on a tight schedule. Very reasonably priced and as always, the facilities were immaculately clean. We will of course be back.

Service was great especially as the restaurant was very busy. The staff were attentive and helpful however with regards to my steak I was not impressed at all. Two of us ordered the Sirloin steak which wasn't cheap so I was expecting a nice tender steak but mine had a serious amount of gristle which was obviously left on my plate and even the waiter noticed this and asked if everything was ok which obviously I said not really, also although the steak was tasty it was pretty chewy again not something you expect from a 30 day aged steak. It comes with fries which were very nice but no salad just an inch square dollop of cress of some kind, surely a small salad wouldn’t go a miss with the price of this meal? Wish I had taken a photo of this meal so show that this review is a fair comment and not exaggerated. Can’t fault the staff and it was only my meal that was very disappointing .

Family had a fantastic meal here last night. The food as always was very good. The service was also very good. We had the specials scallops with risotto and I was very pleased to see that the scallops had the roe attached. So often scallops are served without the roe. Then two of had a pollo funghi really good, othered had the salmon and the Castello pizza. My grandson’s meal of spaghetti pomodoro came with our starters and the restaurant were happy to substitute spaghetti for penne. Only 2 of our party had room for dessert chocolate soufflé and a child’s portion of strawberry ice cream. Would highly recommend. But I would book ahead as the restaurant was very busy even at 5:30 and by the time we left the restaurant was full. So good to see at this time.

This Italian gem in our most favourite place to eat. We come here at least once a month, and always bring visitors here as well as choosing it as our place for any celebration. Our most recent visit was for an early Mothers Day celebration, and it did not disappoint. The food is always fantastic, with excellent choice and delicious specials available. The service is second to none. Nothing is ever too much and we are always made to feel welcome and special. Our daughter in particular loves it here. Her first visit was at 7 days old and now she is nearly 7 years old! A wonderful family restaurant that has so much to offer. Absolutely recommend on every level!

Lovely lunch with the family on a Sunday. Really friendly welcome and the service was excellent throughout the meal. Great that kids can order a smaller portion of any pizza or pasta from the main menu for £7.95. I had a main off the specials board which was delicious, would’ve been even better if it came with some veg. Cocktails are reasonably priced. Cheesecake for dessert was amazing! The only downside is that the only option for kids dessert is one scoop of ice cream for £2.85. We will definitely be returning.

Our first visit and it won’t be the last. A typical Italian restaurant menu, all the classic dishes, but most importantly superb quality and with friendly, efficient service and a great atmosphere. I had calamari, the special lamb shank and a fabulous cheesecake and my friends all had different dishes, everyone was extremely happy with their meals. Clearly very fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked, very tasty and so I can’t wait to go back again soon!

Delicious food and great staff. Our waitress was lovely. The pomodoro pasta dish might have been a bit rich for our 3 year old and his portion was pretty much adult size which was a nice surprise! We finished off his left overs as it was too tasty to go to waste! Save room for dessert as the chocolate soufflé is SO good!!

Expected more from this italian due to the good reviews, but was sorely disappointed. The tropicana pizza was the worst I had had. The pineapple tasted as if it was dipped in syrup and then put on the pizza. Far too sweet. Even though they offered a drink for free and I accepted I later found that I had still been charged for the pizza. I would have expected for this to have been taken off the bill. Unfortunately we will not be back. Definitely not a true italian restaurant

Well service was lacking I e inattentive staff food was hit and miss pastor dishes seemed ok not exceptional don't touch the scallops and when complaining about the pizza they still charge you for it and when you see the 2 cocktails advertised on the drinks menu it's a lie they charge you full price My advice would be to avoid this place like the plague not good

Booked for a birthday meal, first time visit. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the food was excellent. The calzone was very generously proportioned. Will certainly go again next time we are in the area.

Friendly staff and lovely food. We ordered bruschetta as a starter to share and calzones each for main. The portions are really generous. A little pricey but this place is definitely a lovely destination for a special occasion.
