Nicest restaurant in Bath! Tasty menu, cozy hotspot!

They charged me for a dish I didn’t order. Was charged an unnecessary amount. Not very happy with the service.

Fabulous place to eat and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming. It was a really relaxing time. The food was top-notch with tomato with a touch of garlic flavour and some chilli powder. The mushrooms also had some flavouring on them, and the sausages and bacon were a quality product. You could definitely taste the difference in the quality of the food. I really enjoyed the breakfast until it came to paying the bill, which included a discretionary service charge because there was a large party of us. we split the bill, including the 12.5% discretionary service charge, and it turned out we were £2.30 out as we just wanted to make it simple to give an amout per person. This was slightly mared by a waitress who had not served us asking us to pay the difference as if we had not paid the bill until I pointed out this was discretionary. It took about 10 seconds for the penny to drop, and then she said it was alright. Funny that they put discretionary but can't work a discretionary tip out. When we left, all the other staff were just as great and wishing us all a good day.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible, yet they still charged a 12.5% service fee. We waited over 30 minutes before anyone even took our order, and then another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. To make things worse, the dishes didn’t come out together—our cold dish was somehow the last one to arrive. When the food finally came, they didn’t even bring cutlery, so we had to wait again. The staff was inattentive; every time we tried to get the waitress’s attention, she either ignored us or took forever to come over, despite the restaurant not being busy. As for the food, it was just okay—not terrible, but definitely not worth the price. Given the poor service, long waits, and the unjustified service charge, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Can't comment on food as didn't get that far. Having waited 1/2 Hour for drinks that didn't arrive we decided to leave the 1/4 full Restaurant. Sat out the back on a table too small for comfort watching a Chef casually eat customers chips prior to them being served. That was enough!

I was given my “nut free” meal and they had admitted to putting pistachios in my food. Had a reaction and had to go to hospital they almost killed me. Do not go here they are not considerate or careful with allergies and were lying telling me it was nut free when it was full of pistachios. Do not go here!

They almost Killed me! I have an extremely severe nut allergy and we pre ordered due to a large party of us. NUT ALLERGY in capitals was put over all of my food and they told me that they can make whatever nutfree and they lied! I was brought my food separately and told nut free meal ! However after two bites i couldn’t breathe due to my reaction i had to run to the toilet throwing up and had to go to hospital i am still here now they almost killed me! They are not considerate or careful with allergies. I will not be going here again and i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone! It is utterly crap

Me and my partner went for a celebrity meal in the week and had a wonderful evening. Amazing sourdough and best steak I've ever had!

Ordered drinks and a few nibbles (bread, chips, hummus). Despite asking twice we'd finished our drinks (incl. a bottle of Prosecco) by the time the nibbles came! 55 minutes. Unreasonable wait time. It wasn't even that busy.

Was a lovely venue afterthought refit pre-covid but feel the atmosphere has been spoilt with the two separate adjoining dance floors, won't be making the trip again.

Lovely dinner, beef tartare, pork chops and prosecco. The Walcot has a cosy atmosphere but still manages to be vibey.

A really nice pub almost perfect Sunday roast except the long wait for the food around 40 mins. The interior design is relaxing and makes it a good place to chill. Sunday roast menu gives you good options for sharing and the food is very tasty. We swept the whole table clean after the long wait. I would go back for the food.

Delicious food, blown away with the flavours. Service started off slow, waited a long time for drinks but after that, very attentive staff. but they more than made up for it with excellent food.

Booked ahead, lovely white wine, with two gorgeous steaks, with a beautiful cheesecake to top it off

What A Lovely Experience! Got brought there by a surprise and I probably had one of the best stake and beef tartare ever. Best wine too! I'll definitely come back. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, but it's worth a visit! (Not so sure about the cocktail bar downstairs tho).

Sat at the bar earlier and a young pleasant man called Raphael talked with me whilst I drank my drink. Made the visit even more worth while. Lovely venue and even better staff.

Had a recommendation from a friend to come here, and I was not disappointed at all. Initially we were told there were no tables in the restaurants however managed to make one available for us which was appreciated, as while the bar is nice, it’s very much a bar kind of feel. The restaurant however is beautiful, the atmosphere is great, lots of low lighting, relaxed music and wine bottles decorating the room, the open kitchen adds to the atmosphere as well! We ordered the cod and the chicken Milanese, wow, so impressed, up there with some of the best cod and chicken Milanese dishes we’ve had. For dessert we had the cheesecake and sticky toffee, the sticky toffee was delicious, the cheesecake was a little less impressive. Overall, a lovely restaurant, great food, good service and a perfect atmosphere for a relaxed meal, would definitely recommend and would definitely revisit.

Brilliant atmosphere, food & drink. We shared the Cote De Boeuf steak which was cooked to perfection. Also worth mentioning the fantastic wine selection. Highly recommended.

One of Bath’s best places to dine. If you want steak, this is your place in the city to go. My husband and I enjoy many date nights here and we share a sharing steak. The team are always friendly and it’s just always a treat to go.

The atmosphere here was incredible! The most cosy, romantic restaurant we have been too! Dimly lit and elegant, with very friendly staff! We ordered the côte de Boeuf which had delicious flavours, so Smokey and rich drizzled with a red wine jus! The only downfall was that parts of it were incredibly chewy :( overall, this was one of the best restaurants we’ve been too, and we will definitely be going again!

We were visiting from Canada and were caught a little by surprise that you had to book for New Years. Bella and Fyn were so gracious and helpful in squeezing us in for an utterly memorable evening. The atmosphere here is worth experiencing. Highly recommended.

My first time eating in Walcot House I booked a table for a group of five of us. In this day and age it is understandable that restaurants ask for a credit card against a booking and say they will charge you if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice. However, this is the first time I have seen a restaurant saying they will charge £20 a head for a no show or late cancellation and even if the party shrinks in number, so when one of our group told me he couldn't make it to dinner because he had a 3:30am departure to catch a flight the next morning I had to persuade him to at least come for a main course! Add to that the rules that they have and it doesn't make for a very welcoming feeling! Fortunately the young woman waiting on our table was very pleasant and friendly and I have to say the ambience and atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. However it all felt a bit overpriced and the wine list very quickly goes from the bland to the ridiculously expensive. I felt a bit for my friends who chose the chicken Milanese (from the fairly limited menu) as their plates looked rather empty. It's a nice place, but not worth the money in my opinion.

Booked a table for our friend anniversary, and had such an amazing time! Alex and Hannah were so kind and friendly, the food and drinks were brilliant. Can’t wait to come back 🩷

Great food. I had the beef tartare and the wild mushroom risotto. Both were delicious. The risotto was excellent and one of the best I've had outside of Italy.

Perfect location for our intimate wedding celebration, service was spot on as always and the food was incredible.

The beef ribeye in the main is so delicious, the monkfish is also delicious, and the chicken is average (but better than the fried chicken steak in Ivy, maybe the fried chicken steak in the UK is just average) The starter is also good, but the dessert is average.

One of our favourites in Bath. And great value on Sunday evenings after 6pm with a 20% discount.

I can't speak for the food but the cocktails are 10/10 - as is the service. Great spot and I look forward to going back soon!

Great Friendly Service and delicious food the hot fresh bread with the flavoured butters was very tasty as was the scallop starter full of flavour, I had roast beef with giant Yorkshire pudding, gravy roast crispy roast potatoes and mixed vegetables . All absolutely delicious. I had a Tiramisu dessert which was the best I've ever had Very tasty! A great wine list. Lovely cocktails this place is truly wonderful .

I’ve been to Walcot many times for drinks, dinner and events, and it’s always great, but last night was particularly excellent as we hired Room 2 for a work function and it was superb. Big thanks to Jake for being an awesome bartender, and to Layla for all her support, as well as Kitty, Scarlett and Ruby for their help with organising it. Brilliant

Food and service is just amazing, this is our second visit and again wasn’t disappointed at all. They made a special fuss as it was my birthday too. Definitely a must when your in Bath

We have esteem here a few times. Always excellent service and food. We prefer the bar rather than the restaurant. It is less noisy and a tad more atmospheric. However it is always nice to thank the chefs in the open kitchen. Also if is one of the rare places where asking fur a dry manhattan did not yield s blank expression. Can't wait to try the new pasta place. Thank you

An absolute winner! Relaxed but lively atmosphere, warm welcome from friendly and charming staff, interesting but not pretentious menu, high quality food and cooking, good wine list. Fabulous place to while away a few hours.

Great food with excellent specialty cocktails.

This was based on multiple recommendations from people in town. It did not disappoint. Very special kitchen here and very fine ingredients treated with both with respect and creativity. We had the fish soup and Cesar salad to start. Both exceptional examples of both. The fish soup was superb while not masking the fish flavor. Very impressive. The Cesar was the highest standard. The mains were beautiful and bursting with fresh ingredients flavor. The drinks were great and the service exceptional. We were sat at the window banqutte which was very special. We got there before the dinner rush so our server gave us that table even though we did not have a reservation - we appreciated that. A lovely dining room that feels very modern and warm at the same time. This is a wonderful culinary experience and I highly recommend putting this on your list while in Bath.

Very good food and service. Cocktails are perfect too. A must vist if your in bath. We were served by rosie and ruth. Its lovley when you can tell staff love where they work. We also appreciate ruth getting us a table downstairs after our meal. Will be back next time we vist

Visited Sunday lunch without reservation, fortunately got a table. Lamb Belly (starters) 5/5 - crunchy outside, soft inside melts in your mouth. 😚👌 Sunday Roast Pork 4.5/5 - came with 2 sides, Enough to feed both of us. ✅ 12.5% service change 😶

Disappointed at the lack of accessible support

Terrible service, denied an ill person access to water and cared more about their profit than the welfare of their customer's.

My friend had a medical incident from which the bouncer refused them water despite being explained the situation. They threw the water on the floor stating they needed to "find water somewhere else" as well as threatening someone else with "I would enjoy your night and ignore them or you will be kicked out too" this is extremely upsetting especially considering the situation and welfare of my friend.

(NOT DINING SERVICE) Uncaring security, mate hadn't bought a drink and unfortunately had a medical incident, we removed him from their licencing area and we were harassed by security while taking care of them, came across they cared more about their licencing than the safety of others

Such a great find in Bath! The service was superb with a very personal touch. 6 of us had a 3 course meal including sharing portion steaks. Really impressed by the quality and quantity of the food. The tiramisu dessert was also to die for. Highly recommend!

Wonderful place. We were there for a wedding evening and it was fun. The room downstairs is laid out well and nicely decorated. The food was great and best of all the staff were so helpful and kind. The only thing for me was there was no quite corner, there were speakers everywhere, it's difficult for us older ones to think straight. We had to go upstairs for respite. It wouldn't take much to adjust some corners of the space. Overall though it was well run. Thanks.

Went here for a weekend breakfast and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is really nicely decorated and has a very warm, relaxed atmosphere. Really nice and interesting selections on the menu, and are drinks and food both came really quickly.

Delicious Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. Puffy Yorkshire puddings, succulent meats and delish cream of leek, roasties and savoy cabbage.

Everything was absolutely delicious especially the cabbage side and the chocolate dessert. Would definitely recommend for an enjoyable and exquisite time.

Had a great brunch at Walcot House! I enjoyed the Sausage and Egg bap, which was perfectly cooked and flavorful. My girlfriend had the Croissant Paneperdu, and it was absolutely delicious. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Would definitely recommend!

Gorgeous food, absolutely delicious.

This was one of my most jaw-dropping starters ever. I had Wiltshire Horn Lamb Belly which was super rich and tender, alongside beans with an anchovy dressing. But for my main I went for a Schnitzel - and this was nothing like the authentic Austrian Schnitzels I've had previously. The meat was thick and underneath the batter was somewhat soggy, and really just tasted like a big chicken nugget with some garlic sauce. I didn't really enjoy the main that much but I can now see that it's no longer on the A la Carte menu. Service was fantastic and the decor made me feel like I was in a true fine dining establishment. Hopefully I will return soon.

I walked into the restaurant around 15:00 on Wednesday 7 August. A sign said wait to be seated. I did for a few minutes, no one came. I approached an employee at the bar and asked if my daughter and I could sit at an outdoor table. He replied yes, I asked if we should order inside or if there was service at the outdoor tables. The server replied someone would be out to us. We sat at the table for 10 minutes, saw patrons serviced at three different tables but no one came to ours. I went back into the restaurant, asked for menus and water. A server followed me out to our table with both, said he would be back to take our order. We waited 20 minutes, again saw a waiter serving other tables, no one came back to ours. Worst customer service imaginable, speaking with a server twice, making eye contact with another and never being served. We left. I see 4.6 stars on Google. Wish we had the opportunity to experience that service.

One of the few places open on a Monday evening. There was a full house and still good and fast service. The food was good but on the expensive end compared to what we got. There are good acoustics in the room, but perhaps a little too dark.

Exceptional! From the food, the atmosphere to the service we really had an amazing experience at Walcot! Strongly recommend when in Bath! We had the bread followed by tartare and maquerel and then the chicken and the courgette penne, everything was delicious and great wine selection!

Good food in a nice relaxed setting.

There's exceptional dining to be found at Walcott House, everything on the menu looked so inviting. Fresh starters, filling mains, all with great flavours both new and traditional, would call it Modern British, using local ingredients. We had a bottle of the restaurants own wine "Flavour Zone", so good. Probably the best meal we've had out in the city. The dining room in the back was bright and airy with lots of greenery, a nice place to be. What really made it was the service, always on hand to fill glasses, replace bottles, ask how we were getting along without prompting. Proper top tier service.

Food was good. However - Waiter gave false information about (very expensive) steak. Waitress refused to give receipt with VAT. Doesn’t sound very ethical, would not recommend spending your money here.

I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at Walcot House and the experience was amazing. From the moment we walked through the door, the staff were welcoming and attentive, ensuring that our lunch was perfect despite the delay in our arrival due to train issues from London. The team was very accommodating, showing great flexibility with the booking and understanding. The food was as amazing, with each dish prepared with the freshest ingredients and full of flavor. Loved the anchovy caper butter on hot bread! My highlight was the delightful chocolate logs, which were part of the little treats plate. A special thank you to the staff for also delivering on my request for a creamy, perfectly blended Piña Colada. This delightful addition made my birthday celebration even more memorable. The thoughtful birthday wishes card was a lovely touch as well. My girlfriend had planned this surprise for me, and their effort in coordinating it added an extra layer of joy to the celebration. Many thanks! I highly recommend Walcot House to anyone looking for a special day, whether for a celebration or simply a wonderful meal out.

Accommodating staff. Sunday roast was tasty, however, the beef was cold and maybe a bit too raw for my preference.
