The Green Bird Cafe in Bath and North East Somerset

Having missed the last bus on my birthday, 3 Feb and waited up all night for the morning train to London, I went to the Green Bird café for a serious breakfast absolutely starving and I really got the Bees Knees! Wow absolutely gorgeous. Friendly service must go again. It’s clearly run by an extremely loyal band of staff and everything is run TikTok.

Found this place off the back of other great reviews. Busy little place but we were able to get seated straight away. Great service, delicious food in a lovely quiet location. I would recommend the Bubble and squeak!

This cafe was AMAZING!!! The staff were really friendly and very complimentary.... The coffee blend they used was really good! Specially if you're a strong coffee lover! The Chai latte with an extra shot of expresso was my favourite! Thank you for the sweet experience! It was splendid!

I always make a point of visiting this cafe when I visit Bath. I’ve given the cafe 4 stars rather than 5 because I wanted to order the Turkish Eggs dish but I was told it was only on the summer menu. What a shame!!! It really is the most delicious dish and I have definitely eaten it there in winter before. I obviously know this is a first world problem but I would urge them to add it to the menu year round. Please. Ideally 7 Feb when I’ll be returning to Bath! Other than that, it’s a superb independent cafe in a delightful street near the Royal Crescent. Staff are wonderful and welcoming. Other breakfast dishes very tasty and nice cakes, brownies etc.

I only had coffee and cake, a horrible experience. Coffee is milky, cake is wet with sugar syrup. But the worst part was its service. I had only coffee and cake, what they did was to bring the cake to my table 2 m away, and they charged 12% service charge without asking me!! I only noticed from the lady's sheepish attitude by tapping the service charge screen very quickly and didn't ask me about the receipt. This is Bath, most of the cafes run honest business. So that was the last visit to this cafe to me and my partner.

Food was delicious. Service was rushed, least-attentive. We had to order three times to get what we actually wanted. The waiters were not listening very well. They also moved us to a different table mid way after we had settled in. This was not a pleasant experience. Obviously the place is busy as it serves nice food, but this is not an excuse for lack of attentiveness as in the end we are still paying for it.

Great and diverse dishes with delicious vegetarian options. Went twice recently on two consecutive days and would definitely return!!

A few mins walk away from the Royal Crescent, we reached here around 12, went for brunch, waited about 20 mins for a table. The food is very tasty with reasonable prices. We would recommend the sautéed mushrooms toast. It looks simple but tastes really good. The berry juice is also something deserves to try!

What a beautiful cafe. The staff are so friendly and the food is just amazing. We had the bubble and squeak with a fried egg, the unusual but tasty masala French toast and the goats cheese with onion marmalade toastie. All with superb flavors and presented beautifully. Our new go to cafe in Bath.

Fabulous food. We had breakfast. Mushroom and Halloumi bap and bubble a squeak for breakfast and great coffee, Perfect. Highly recommended. Friendly service.

Food was nice, but the cafe was very busy and under staffed on the weekend, it took over 30 minutes to be served.

What a find! The atmosphere and service complement the delicious food so well. I had the sautéed mushrooms on toast, but consider adding the homemade beans and an egg - absolutely scrumptious! Their lattes are divine as well, I’ll definitely be back!

Very good service and marsala french toast was delicious. The only strange thing was they do not give you a full glass of pressed juice, but it was still lovely just strange to me. Highly recommend.

Stopped here on a Saturday around 10am and there was a small line that moved pretty quickly to dine in. Coffee was on point, also got a slice of carrot cake that seemed healthier than it probably was since it had a bunch of nuts and seeds on top. Then had the Marsala French toast that’s probably one of the most unique French toast dishes I’ve had. It definitely hit the right balance of savory and sweet and had just enough spice to give you that Marsala feel. Definitely recommend this cute restaurant while in Bath. Sat by the door and it sometimes is open for a bit since it’s crowded and gets a bit cold during the fall winter months. Extremely affordable for what you get

The food and coffee were delicious and the place has such a nice vibe all on its own.

Just needed a quick bite to eat and found 'The Green Bird Café' round the corner from where we were staying and it was delightful. Wonderful staff who made us welcome and despite the cafe being full they managed to get us in. Nice atmosphere and some very nice food options from light lunch to cake with coffee, tea or something stronger (alcoholic). Open until 5pm it's definitely worth a visit.

Pretty cafe in a gorgeous spot, really tasty food and great service from the friendly staff. Really enjoyed the masala French toast, have never had anything like it. Would love to come back and try the other amazing looking brunch dishes!

I found this cafe by accident. I knew I'd be passing through Bath having caught an early flight into Bristol. It came up on a Google search places to have breakfast in Bath. The reviews prompted me to check it out. Quite a varied menu but no Bacon, Sausages and eggs on it-as far as I could see anyway. I opted for scrambled eggs on toast. They were delicious. Asked for toast and had a coffee. There is nearby on street parking. I told my niece who lives in Bath about it and she knew of it. They also sell wine and other nice things. It was very telling that the place was full of customers-I got the last table-several othe rpeolle came in after me. I was there a noon. Would call in again if I was passing through Bath.

Best toasted cheese sandwich I’ve ever had (takeaway) - the cheese and mushroom option. Amazing!

Having just visited the Crescent we fancied a cuppa and stopped by this delightful cafe. It was heaving which is always a good sign. We had coffee and cake but there was a lot more choice should you want something else Staff were polite, service fast and served with a smile. A great place to recharge before more retail therapy!

We were so happy to happen upon this cafe. Excellent coffee, delicious sourdough, and the beetroot hummus was amazing!

We like the no book just turn up set up and were accommodated after a short wait despite how very busy they were. Menu was creative and delicious and the staff were lovely.

Myself and my partner both said that this is one of, if not the best brunch food we have ever tasted. My partner had a chorizo hash and I had the home made beans. Truly delicious. We also had their croissant and coffees which was also excellent. Such a great find and so close to the Circle and Royal Cresent and some lovely little quaint shops. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

We did a 16 day holiday to UK and Europe and this was the best breakfast we had (and the competition was strong). I highly recommend if you are in Bath. The atmosphere was as great as the food and the service. Would go back anytime. We were a family of four (8 and 12) and they were very much kid friendly.

Lovely small cafe in Bath. Behind the Royal cresent which probably explains superior service and prices.

Lovely location & cafe. The selection of food & drinks is also great. Only issue is that they are not managing their customers properly - there's a sign advising people to wait to be seated, but no one ever speaks to the customers, until they decide to walk in and ask for a table. When I went in, most tables outside were free and there were also a few free seats inside. However, no one bothered to seat me and it seemed to be the case with anyone else waiting outside. They need to get rid of the sign. Would've given them 5 points otherwise.

We ate here 4 times during our stay in Bath. The hummus and the Turkish eggs dishes were delicious.

Had a great brunch at this little cafe. Will definitely revisit. I had porridge with peanut butter and something else which was lovely. The cakes and the modest cake maker were lovely!

Justified as being called the best breakfast in Bath. There is a huge menu of different choices. The summer tomatoes on sour dough and the French toast with bacon and maple syrup were both great. Really good coffee to.

We visited our favourite café in Bath twice whilst staying in the city for two nights, once for lunch and once for breakfast. We could happily have eaten here twice a day. Service is usually fantastic and the food is varied, interesting and always delicious. When we arrived for breakfast, there were already plenty of people waiting for them to open at 9.00. By 9.05, the place was full and some, even on a rainy day were sitting outside. Clearly we are not the only people who find this a great place to be.

A very good cafe for brunch or lunch. Varied menu with some interesting and unusual dishes. It's usually busy so booking is advised, but the staff do very well to accommodate walk ins. The service is excellent - except one senior waitress who is too terse and serious. There are plenty of gluten free options. Seating is out front, inside or in a courtyard at the back.

The food taste and quality were outstanding, very nice coffee as well. Money well spent🔥

Cute cafe near Royal Crescent. Nicely decorated with clean bathrooms and free wifi. Even though it was very busy at the cafe, service was good and food was great! We got the Turkish eggs and creamy thyme mushrooms on toast, with a side of sausage and bacon. Very yummy 😋 highly recommended

Dropped by for lunch when visiting Bath. I ordered a smoke salmon sandwich and a freshly squeezed juice. Both were really delicious. Great service with a very comfortably relaxed atmosphere.

Two of us went yesterday, just passing through. Sat outside in the warm weather. The staff were so helpful and approachable. I had the most amazing sourdough goats cheese toasted sandwich with salad and a coffee. Delicious and at reasonable prices too unlike some in the vicinity!! I will definitely return. Thank you.

Delicious breakfast, served in a cozy cafe in the centre of Bath. The staff are kind and the service is quick. The kale-lentils-carrot-feta salad is delectable and their poached eggs on sourdough toast are heavenly.

We always love coming to the Green Bird Cafe. The food is absolutely amazing, we had the homemade beans which were so delicious. The staff are all so so lovely, we had the most friendly waitress too!

This lovely cafe surpasses the expectations you might have about what you can cook that is ‘XYZ on toast’. Delightful food with very good quality ingredients. Warm and helpful staff with lovely indoor and outdoor tables. Very reasonably priced too. Also best in Bath for veggie, vegan and gluten free.

Creative menu, nice staff, sadly below average food that we expected to be significantly better.

Overprice menu, which gives high expectations for the food. However this is not the case. Food was bland and not worth the price. Considering they were classic simple dishes it was a shame they were not to standard

A great spot for breakfast and tea, the food is scrumptious and the staff are a breeze of friendliness. A must visit, and the locals have it good with such an amazing cafe on their doorstep.

Baiscally no vegan options for Buunch :( Nothing on the menu was labled as vegan, when we asked our server what was vegan he didn't know. Ended up getting the beans on toast without cheese on, which was fine. Really it's quite disappointing that a cafe with such range on its menu isn't able to have at least one or two vegan options. There are lots of vegans in Bath and we deserve options :(

lovely food and lovely staff, minus one lady with the bob who seems to run things. abrupt and unwelcoming, taking plates away before even finishing the food and placing bills down when still drinking coffee. having read the reviews prior it seems many have the same experience with this staff member. very disappointing considering the rest of the staff are accommodating and lovely and the food is nice. if you’re looking for an equally lovely place i’d recommend good day cafe- lovely staff.

We had to queue to get a table which on one hand is a great sign of good food but a negative when it’s freezing cold. We were seated quite quickly considering and menus distributed. A great varied brunch menu is on offer, I had scrambled eggs on sourdough with extras of black pudding and pan fried chorizo , it was cooked from scratch and piping hot and totally delicious. The bill for three of us was £70 with a tip. The extras were £2.50 each so it soon added up. The carrot cake was £4 and delicious . Well worth it as a treat . The service was excellent too

We enjoyed a lovely brunch here, the toasties, soup and cake were delicious and the food and drinks were all great quality. Service was very friendly and efficient.

Great breakfast! Came here on a day visit to Bath - my first stop to grab some food - & it was well worth it! Having the French toast with bacon & syrup with a cappuccino started my day off perfectly. It appeared full as I walked in but they offered me a table in the 'back' area which was very nice & a little more calm to sit & plan the day. Price wise is was not too bad either for what you got & compared to the other places in Bath. Great location too with friendly staff to help top off the visit. Recommend a lot :)

Fabulous food ! I'm a bit of a foodie and fussy when it comes down to going out dining but this place was one of the best I have been for years ! We had shakshuka wish was delicious and a salmon and cream cheese beagle which was also delicious! Service was excellent! Will definitely go again when in the area ! Yum !

Great spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch, morning coffee or afternoon tea. Service was friendly & efficient. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Portions a little on the small side for the price but would definitely recommend.

Best breakfast out ever. We got here early for opening at 9am to get a table as had read reviews saying how popular it is. I had the French toast with pear compote and mascapone whilst my husband had the saltbeef on Ciabatta. Both were so good, it's the best breakfast I've had out ever and we go out frequently. Service was quick and friendly. Would highly recommend.

This place always has a line up and it’s easy to see why. The decor is inviting and feels like home, the food is incredible, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the shakshouka and many a long black, whilst taking in the surroundings and enjoying the ambience.

We chose this based on other’s positive reviews. We were not disappointed. The lack of full English breakfast on the menu meant that we tried dishes that we may not have normally chosen. We've been to 6 cafe's in Bath over the last 10 days, and the food at The Green Bird Cafe' was, by far, the most delicious. It was obvious that a great deal of care went into their dishes. The service was great, and the bathrooms were clean! The scrumptious mulled cider was an added breakfast guilty pleasure.

This was a great find, we spotted people queuing to get in for breakfast and thought that was a good sign! We enjoyed several breakfasts here during our stay in Bath, highlights being porridge with peanut butter, maple syrup, and raisins soaked in chai latte, cheese and ham croissants, and best of all, French toast with cripsy bacon and maple syrup. The staff were delightful and the cafe had a really nice atmosphere.

A lovely typical country cafe, with the added delights of a wonderful variety of pastries. 'y friendly efficient staff helped to make the visit memorable.

At first glance there does not to be much seating but don't be put off there is plenty, set out on different levels, and the lovely staff will help you find a table. Great menu choices - we had delicious mushroom, broccoli & thyme soup. Perfect, and just the thing to warm you up on a miserable winters day. Highly recommended

Good coffee and customer service

Great food, service and overall experience. We looked for a breakfast as we’re heading to towards the bath spa train station and stumbled on this place when researching and decided to give it a try. We are very delighted with the food that we order, definitely recommend.
