Pleasant enough. Only seating is outside and only 3 tables. Plenty of room on the grassy towpath though, with some public seating. Not always open.

A fun place to stop for a refreshment or light meal when out for a walk or bike ride along the canal in Bathampton. Picnic tables are a great place to meet people who come from all over to enjoy the canal.

Charming discovery on the edge of Bath. Efficient set up ordering coffee thru the barge window. Likely a fave with locals, dog walkers, cyclists, runners et al. Very efficient & freindly service. Been going for 14 years - well done! Nice coffee 👍🏻

A beautiful cafe, so colourful and welcoming. The proprietor is polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks are well made and served without delay. The food on offer is varied, fresh and delicious. A real gem of the waterways. Love it.

Take a walk, or cycle, along the Kennett & Avon canal from Bath and when you reach Bathampton you can reward yourself with something from the Cafe on the Barge. A great selection of drinks, hot & cold, lovely cakes, or ice cream - vegan options included. Definitely worth the walk/cycle.

We haven’t visited for a while so it was great to call in today. Our welcome as warm as always and good to meet a new “helper”! Homemade Cakes as yummy as from day 1 of Heni opening! With extra seats on the bank a double good place to stop! Good to hear the latest news and thanks for making the stop so worthwhile. Xxx 😍

Tha cafe on the barge, at Bathampton on the canal. Very friendly one way on one way off. Plenty of benches to sit on. Coffee and cake then burn it off with a steady stroll along the canal.

Perfect sized delicious cakes! They have benches and space along the towpath for seating and sell all-sorts from iced coffee and diet coke to lattes, cakes and Marshfield ice-cream. There is on street parking next to the local primary school and some wonderful walks along the towpath either into Bath or towards Dundas aquaduct. (P.s. my other half ate all but a bite of the cake before I could get a photo - they're definitely bigger than that!)

Lovely friendly service, alternative milk available for those with tolerances. Not surprised it's so popular! Beautiful scenery and lovely walk along the canal in both directions! Card payments accepted too.

Un lugar encantador cerca del canal, servicio amable, pero independientemente de cuánto gaste y de lo desesperado que esté, las instalaciones sanitarias en la barcaza NO son para uso del cliente. Visitamos dos o tres veces al año y nos dijeron que no trabajan en el semestre de mayo y nuevamente durante las seis semanas de las vacaciones de verano. Sin embargo, aclaró la razón real durante nuestra reciente visita. Sin señalización, muy confuso. Se sintió culpable al entrar en el pub The George para usar los baños que son exclusivos para los clientes del pub. Me temo que no volveremos a visitar.

Este gran café en el canal es un lugar ideal lejos de la multitud enloquecida, con un personal encantador, un pastel delicioso y un servicio excelente. La mayoría de los asientos están afuera, en el banco del canal opuesto (con los árboles para refugiarse) con dos mesas en el bote. Entra en el barco y ordena y paga. El personal es excelente y es un lugar agradable para ciclistas, caminantes, familias y casi todos sin estar en los confines de una tienda. Me han pasado por este lugar tantas veces que es genial poder usarlo Gran valor para el dinero

Pasteles preciosos! Encantadora dama que dirige el café. . amable y servicial. Sentado fuera bajo los árboles en la orilla del canal. El pastel que tenía era delicioso y una buena opción en oferta. No hay baños. . . el más cercano sería el pub George, que está a un par de minutos a pie.

This delightful Café on the Barge, is literally what it says on the tin, and you go inside and order and pay for tea and the delicious home made cake is not to be missed - there are 2 small tables on the outside and more tables on the grass just outside. Great atmosphere, friendly and delightful staff and reasonable prices too. I have been passed this place on several occasions and decided today that I would use it and I was not to be disappointed. If you get the chance then use it, and if the weather is nice then it is even more delightful

It is a beautiful location, great sun spot. The staff are incredibly friendly.. it was cash only and we had limited cash but they sorted something out for us with what we had. 5 stars! Give it a try <3

I love sitting in the barge watching the ducks and swans and boats sail by. Very excellent cake and lovely paninni's and the soup is good on a cold day. Probably my fav stop off point between bristol and avebury.

Loved it! Found this cosy gem by chance. Very local vibe and lovely coffee. Staff are super lovely and chatty. Will be heading back every week as there are great walks nearby. It is a small place so seats inside are limited but you can sit on the benches outside or on the exterior of the boat. Grab a blanket and relax.

Lovely river boat serving coffee and snacks, run by delightful people. The walk along the canal from Bath is delightful, made all the nicer by our stop at Cafe on the Barge.

There we were moaning about the 80p charge on the toll bridge then we across this little number. We had to turn around and check it out. We met Rosie and Jim and most definalty will be returning.

Cycling in from Limpley Stoke via Bradford on Avon along tow path I was actually aiming for Sophia Gardens and a lovely tea stop there BUT on cycling past this lovely little tea barge turned round and decided to give it ago. Great decision nice pot of tea & home made lemon drizzle cake why go any further. Sat under the trees on the bank and happily chilled out for an hour ‘people watching’

Peut-être est-ce différent le soir, mais vers 11h du matin, le staff a du mal : on était les premiers clients, on ne peut pas qualifier l'accueil de désagréable, plutôt d'indifférence générale. Le cadre est sympa mais on se sentait en trop, donc on ne s'est pas fait prier pour partir dès le breakfast expédié. Le 'full' english est correct quoiqu'un peu cher pour ce qu'il contient. Nous sommes donc partis presque sur la pointe des pieds et sous le 'bye' murmuré par le staff entre deux bouffées de cigarette. Bref, c'est sans doute mieux le soir, le cadre est sympa...

We rented bikes at Limpley Stoke and headed on the towpath towards Bath. After some amazingly countryside and just when a drink was needed up pops this place. Great location with no detour from the path, great views and an assortment of seating - inside the barge, on the stern of the barge, on a deck beside the barge or under the shade of canal side trees. Very pleasant break from the cycling

A little gem, with superb homemade cakes and excellent coffee. Open daytime, including Sundays, for most of the year. Stop by and meet the lovely Henny.

What a fantastic little place. Naturally this place is best visited on a good day which allows you to sit outside and watch the world go by. Good quality coffee and tea. Cakes are fresh and delicious. Owners/staff are very friendly. Cannot wait to come back and will always recommend!

Took the grand=kids here for a Sunday morning stroll , feed ducks etc. The Cafe on the Barge is perfectly located for this in the canal by the George Inn - lovely coffee and cakes too. Gotta be done, and done again!

We were staying in Bradford Upon Avon and took the towpath to Bath on our bikes we came across the Raft Cafe Boat and it was 11am so time for a mug of tea and some cake with the wife I felt...the service was second to none, the lady who served us was so so nice and the cake was to die for...stunning setting, people watching, lovely mug of tea!!..So good we walked back the next day and did it again, Great place to stop and have a break....Please stop you will not be disappointed..Many thanks for a lovely experience...

Stopped here following a recommendation from a friend. What a delightful place to refuel on the canal. We sat outside and sampled the lovely homemade lemon cake which was delicious. Well worth a visit if you are near.

Husband and wife walking from Bath to Bradford on Avon along the tow path stopped for morning coffee and cake. What a superb find! Excellent location, polite and pleasant welcome, gorgeous food and a variety of drinks. The prices were very reasonable too! We will be recommending this to all of our friends and we will return soon. Congratulations!

Stopping at the Cafe on the Barge is not recommended for any one on a diet. The cakes are just so "yummy" you MUST have one and the bright cheerful welcome makes a stop just perfect!

What a lovely little Gem and a great place to stop while walking along the canal. The barge is only a few minutes from where we were staying so we stopped of for a quick coffee and cake. The setting is fantastic and the cakes!! Just wow...

Stopped here for lunch. Pleasant atmosphere, food all freshly prepared. Outdoor and indoor seating. Great location. Would defiantly come again.

Very popular recent weekends in the sun with walkers, runners and cyclists as well as passing narrow boats . There are tables on the bank as well as on the boast and everything they do is lovely. When we were there, the one person serving was rushed off her feet so you need to arrive prepared to relax. It's a lovely spot and deservedly busy

The Avon Canal is popular with walkers and wheezy cyclists like me. The cafe is best experienced outside as downstairs is small although mercifully dog-resistant. Great Cakes in the central european style, paninis, how made soup all served by the charming owner.

First place we stopped for a sit down at on a canal boat weekend. The place smelt amazing when we walked in - tea cakes toasting. Great cappuccino. The food all looked lovely. It was a cold day & so we were given blankets by the lovely lady who ran the place, to keep us warm. Really well worth a visit!
