We couldn’t actually get in here, as there were 2 tables that could have seated up to 8 people, that were occupied by people settled in on their laptops. Maybe the staff/management need to address this problem, because you just lost 2 customers.

I had the filter coffee and it was pretty average. A bit watery and a bit cold. The carrot cake was delicious. They put the napkin and fork under it though, which is bizarre.

Very cosy place on a very quiet & central street in Bath. The atmosphere is lovely and they make great use of their indoor space. The staff are also friendly & approachable. I've been there many times and have never really enjoyed their coffee, but the atmosphere & vibes make up for it. Their wifi never works well and the service can be very slow. I'd still go there, nevertheless.

I recently visited this café in Bath and was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the coffee and the delicious cakes on offer. Coffee: We ordered the Inzi Colombia Coffee and Ruby Coffee, and both were exceptional. The richness and depth of flavor in each cup were something you shouldn’t miss if you find yourself in Bath. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just someone looking for a great cup, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Cakes: We tried the Carrot Cake and the Orange and Blueberry Cake. The Carrot Cake was, without a doubt, one of the best I’ve had in the UK. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, and you could truly taste the carrot in a soft, spongy texture that wasn’t overly sweet or heavy—just right. As for the Orange and Blueberry Cake, it was also delightful, with a fresh, zesty flavor that complemented the coffee well. Atmosphere: The café had a cozy, welcoming vibe, but I do think adding some background music like deep house or jazz would enhance the overall experience. It would create a more relaxed ambiance and elevate the already great atmosphere, making it an even more enjoyable place to unwind. If you’re in Bath, don’t miss the chance to visit this café. Amazing coffee and cakes, with just a tiny suggestion for improvement on the ambiance!

The carrot cake stole the show. Perfectly moist, the icing not too sweet and no overpowering cinnamon which I find in many other carrot cakes. The Espresso was decent, nothing extraordinary. Service was attentive and good. Seating is limited and the stools are very small and narrow

My boyfriends FAVOURITE coffee shop....ever! Yummy pastries too. Think there was outside seating out the back too.

Great specialty coffee, offering different blends of both filter and espresso based coffee. Also sell some lovely pastries and cakes to go with your drink.

I stopped by for a coffee and was pleasantly surprised. The barista was clearly knowledgeable, offering me a selection of different espressos to choose from, which was a nice touch. The coffee I ordered was excellent. Although I haven’t had a chance to try their pastries yet, they looked delicious. I’d love to return.

I read the reviews on google and try. Yes, the artisan coffee is great, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is relax and I like the simplicity decor. It offers outdoor seat but it’s a bit small and not spacious. I couldn’t give 5 stars: - price is bit high ( carrot cake + cappuccino £8) I understand here is Bath city centre. - The seat is made of hard wood and it is narrow and small, it is not comfortable to sit on. - I know there’s lots of good comments for the carrot cake, think it’s not my taste. The frosting is really good, soft and not too sweet, the sponge is moist. However, the taste is bland. No raisins, no nuts and no cinnamon flavour and the key issue to me is I taste the strong baking soda.

I had two of the three best cups of coffee I’ve ever tried here. Definatley deserves the good reviews. The baked goods were also delicious. Staff was super nice and helpful.

Sublime coffee which is different to standard cafe stuff in taste, quality and process. The friendly staff are passionate about coffee - come here to experience crafted coffee and if curious to learn a bit about how various aspects of making coffee influence the taste. I have completely changed my views of coffee since frequenting Colonna & Small's.

Excellent coffee. One of the best I have tasted actually. The quality is so good. The staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. The environment is very calm, with an indoor and outdoor seating area. I had plant based milk, which seemingly was an extra cost - rather a pity - but otherwise positive.

Drinking a perfectly smooth flat white with immaculate swan foam art and eating a slice of their carrot cake while on a microdose of LSD is an erotic experience. Nice soft jazz music too. Highly recommended.

I was recommended to try this coffee shop in bath and our airbnb was actually very close to the cafe but we didn’t manage to visit until our last day. It was really cool to see then making coffee non-stop using airpress and it was great to try their gesha beans at £5.50. Their pastry was really tasty as well and the whole place breathed coffee and its artistry.

Both flat white espressos are delicious. It's only 5 minutes from Roman Baths, so be sure to visit.

Pretentious and disappointing. I've visited a few times now and the experience has only gotten worse as time has gone on. The person serving patronisingly explained coffee whilst outloud judged what you ordered. After not listening and making the wrong order we had to re-order a missing flapjack which was now too late to enjoy with the coffee. This was then forgotten about again and we subsequently decided to take it away after paying for the privilege of eating in. On top of this the coffee was average at best.

Pretentious coffee. Expect tasting commentary with accents and notes of.... Good if that's your thing. Silly otherwise.

Lovely Coffee House on a quiet street with a calm and relaxing atmosphere 😎 The coffee is excellent 👌 made by professional knowledgeable baristas offering some excellent speciality coffees. If you want a treat or you're a coffee lover, this place is definitely worth the small walk from the hussel and bussel of the busy shopping streets. This is a little gem of excellence in a quiet, calm environment in a beautiful part of the city 😀 My flat white was £3.90. Found my way out to the small yard out the back, which was lovely and cool 😁

A great location with interesting bean varieties to try. Look out for the small garden at the back for a quieter drink.

As so many say, fabulous coffee - quite possibly the best short black I've ever had. Friendly staff - who offer good advice about which coffee will suit your favoured style - and good snacks add to the great feeling about the place. Definitely recommended.

Colonna & Small’s has made awesome artisan coffee for a long time. Most coffee shops in Bath arguably have caught up in the quality stakes. With a new direction and injection of enthusiasm it’ll be delivering awesome coffee for generations to come.

Tucked away from the tourist track! First visit was great very bush with mix of sit in and takeaway customers. Menu changes with choice of three filter and three espresso blends so always something new to try. My second visit Saturday 25 a little less crowded but again great service when ordering they prepare your coffee and bring to your table. A must for the coffee connoisseur!

If you are serious about your coffee this is the place to go in Bath. They know what they are doing and are happy to talk you through it. Naturally the coffee is fantastic!!

The place looks quite serious and they are visibly trying to hit a mark of a quality specialty roaster and brewer. Having said so, despite having four people at the rush hour they are not coping with the load well. It took 20 minutes from ordering to receiving 2 cups of coffee, and the filter felt under-extracted…

Never leave google reviews. But this experience deserved one. 20 minutes wait for a takeaway cappuccino is unacceptable

They take great pride in their coffee. The Barista made recommendations on beans for my flat white and suggested a new approach to a transitional Americano. When I am back in Bath, I will be sure to enjoy the shop again.

The server proceeded to walk off and say he would return in a minute. It's an uncomfortable setting, so if you want to spend some time in there, I wouldn't recommend it. Their coffee was delicious, but after starting to feel quite anxious after the interaction I had with the server, I wanted to leave.

I wasn't very impressed by the Karira Hill filter coffee but maybe that's just me

A class act. Knowledgeable staff and tender care have been given in not just the preparation of our drink but everything else from farm to cup - cultivation, selection (some unique beans available) production, and procurement. Responsible and sustainable best practice seems to be applied here, which made my cup of Ethiopian Gesha ever more delightful. Worth a visit for a cup or three for a coffee enthusiast.

staff is friendly, they explained to us about different coffee. I ordered a latte, which is pretty good. the fresh brewed isn't my favourite. brownie taste super yummy, not too sweet, with a hint of salty. would recommend that.

Coffee temple. Had a natural Sudan Rume on filter, an oat flat white and three different espressos: natural Colombia Gesha, natural Etiopia Gesha and Natural Brazilian. All the coffees were carefully extracted, balanced and delicious. Thanks fellas!

Average filter coffee, was hoping for more because of the review. I find the filter coffee itself is a bit overrated. The cappuccino and atmosphere were amazing.

Coffee tasted fine but the nature of the store was similar to every other indie coffee bar I have been to. Prices were a little high for certain brews but the price of bulk beans was certainly decent.

Glad I found this place in the recommended coffee shops in Bath. Good sized with a minimalist and clean decor which I loved. The wooden benches and tables and subtle wall colours provide a good backdrop to the colourful products on shelves and the posters. There is a small area up in the front with bookshelves and benches against them which is inviting for people looking for a quiet space to read and/or work. The staff are wonderful - cheerful, helpful and friendly. Since they procure, process and make their coffee from scratch with flavours varying, I needed some help understanding and then making a selection. When we visited, I chose the Mozambique variant after getting a good explanation from the staff member. The coffee was good and the much talked about carrot cake didn't disappoint at all! It was moist, perfect sweetness with excellent frosting and went down well with the coffee. They have a small outdoor seating space which might be a nice spot in summers. It will definitely be in my list of places to visit for coffee/cake when in Bath.

In fair disclosure, I met the owner at a chocolate festival and so we came to check out his shop. It is not in the hustle and bustle of Bath, but just off Queen Square so it is easy to walk to and a bit of a refuge from the touristy, Bridgerton fan, Christmas market chaos. My husband loved his coffee. The staff were wonderful. The carpet cake is apparently made by a local and I loved it. It looks like chemistry kits in the table after they make some of their special coffees that I do not understand. The owner is a barista champion. Fun place and not overloaded with tourists. It is a local spot. Friendly, happy.

I was on a mission to find the kind of coffee shop that prob takes their coffee more seriously than is normal, and hit the jackpot. This place was great, with multiple unique roasts on offer, and baristas who know what they are doing. My cappuccino was the best I’ve had in the UK.

The most amazing coffee, carrot cake and croissants in Bath. This is our first stop whenever we go to Bath. Not only do they specialise in coffee but they bake the most delicious croissants in-house every morning. You have to be early to get 1 as once they sell out that’s it. They do 3 flavours of croissants - almond, chocolate and plain all dusted with a bit of powdered sugar. They aren’t like traditional croissants, more doughy and less flakey which feels super indulgent. The coffee beans are all weighed and ground to order making your coffee the freshest it can be. The staff are super friendly and helpful advising on all things coffee to make sure you get the perfect cup each time.

I came to Bath recently, for the first time, on a mini little break before starting at the University part time. I did my research before travelling, and read so many reviews saying Colonna and Smalls did the best carrot cake. With carrot cake being my favourite case, I had to see if the reviews were true. I popped by on a Sunday later afternoon. The atmosphere was light and airy, and it was busy enough to give a calm and welcoming atmosphere without being overwhelming. I order the carrot cake and was asked to take a seat, where the carrot cake was bought to me (a lovely touch I was not expecting). The cake itself did not look like anything special but my oh my - the reviews are absolutely right. This is the best carrot cake I have ever had in my life. The sponge is incredibly moist and has the perfect level of spice one would want from a carrot cake. The frosting is as smooth as velvet and has that gorgeous cream cheese tang with a great balance of sweetness. I cannot stop thinking about how great this cake was and its been over a week since I went! I am a big fan of raisins in my carrot cake, which this did not have, but honestly it did not need them to add any moisture or texture. The people working in the cafe were lovely and welcoming. The only thing I would say is that I do not think I could sit in there for too long due to all the seating (as far as I can remember!) being hard wood. Nevertheless, I will most definitely be back for the carrot cake, even if the visit is brief!

With all the glowing reviews I expected a lot. I must have very unlucky. The coffee had very poor extraction, a cup of milk really The tea was a total disaster. Weak, leaves floating in it and a horrible grey colour. On the other hand the croissants were nice. Total disappointment, was my result
