We called in by chance .. a family of 11 and cannot thank the staff enough for providing us all with a wonderful tasty meal .. would highly recommended. The service and atmosphere was excellent
A Similan Thai is a gem of a restaurant on Highcliffe high street. This was our second visit.
My wife and I shared the mixed starter which we'd highly recommend - so many wonderful flavours! My wife followed it a vegetable and mushroom stir fry, while I chose by the Penang curry with tofu. The latter is not an option for the curries on the menu, but you just need to ask. It was very tasty and a generous portion, with plenty of tofu. We shared a jasmine rice and some plain noodles and the total food bill was under £50, so good value for authentic and tasty Thai food. We'll definitely be visiting again soon.
Thai has always been my favourite cuisine but no matter where I go in the UK, nothing compares to this little slice of paradise. The food is exceptional and the setting unrivalled. It’s the only place me and my husband go to without speaking - because we are too busy eating. Don’t question it. Just book it!
What a happy surprise! Delicious, reasonably priced and freshly made. We had just over an hour to eat before having to go back to work and the manager was very sweet and extremely accommodating.
Light, crisp, delicately spiced Kachori. Bengan Bhartha and Jeera Rice were just perfect and the Chapattis were a poem of lightness.
If I'm ever in Plymouth again I will definitely enjoy eating here again and have recommended Veggie Perrins to my local friends.

“This Fish Burger Slapped Harder Than My Wi-Fi on Payday”
I wasn’t expecting much. I just wanted a fish burger — not a spiritual awakening in a burger bun. But here we are.
First bite? BOOM. It was like Poseidon himself blessed this fillet with a trident and a wink. Crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside — like the fish had just done a yoga retreat and was living its best afterlife between two buns.
The tartar sauce? Smooth. Cool. Like James Bond in a blender. And don’t get me started on the lettuce — it was so fresh I’m convinced it still had a gym membership.
Every bite was a sea-shanty of flavour. I had a brief moment where I considered proposing to the person who made it, but I was too busy licking my fingers like a feral seagull on holiday.
Honestly, if this fish burger were a person, it would have its own Netflix series, an autobiography, and a line of scented candles.
10/10. Would fight a flock of angry pelicans to eat again. 🐟🍔💥
Just popped in for a late brekky.
Husband had the 6 item, I had 8 times and they were cooked to perfection and tasty! First time here and we will be back
Really friendly staff and bangin cuppa
Can’t fault the service!!!! Came in as a pick me up and was greeted with the warmest welcome. The hospitality was outstanding and the young girl who served me was an asset to the company, so bubbly and helpful whilst i stayed for slightly longer than expected, with no hostility at all!! Alongside the service, the food and atmosphere was great. Would recommend to anyone, be sure to make the most of such a great group of staff!
Lovely pub, very welcoming landlord and landlady. Food was really good, excellent price. We were not made to feel like outsiders as we were visiting the area. Exactly as a pub should be.
Thursday 24/04/2025:- My first visit to the Corner House since it moved from its original site on the London Road to Union Street (previously Birch). Shared a seafood platter for lunch with a friend which was very nice. Our server Antonio was personable and very helpful. Not many customers despite the restaurant offering 25% off food. The autistics are challenging with other people's chatter and laughter reverberating around the room. Not for the hard-of-hearing.
Lovely place to drink tea and chat, a quirky little place with great character! They do good tea and coffee, and have a simple selection of toasties, baguettes, waffles and a few other things. I would love to give it 5 stars but it could be a little more generous and have better quality bread!
Great place for a very tasty lunch with friends after visiting Great Chalfield Manor (National Trust). A quirky place in terms of decor and setup. The food was all home cooked and freshly prepared and good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. We booked in advance.
