Veggie Perrin's in Plymouth

Wonderful however struggling to understand why the menu isn't fully vegan. Ethos is around non violence to living beings so why on earth is the dairy industry supported by yourselves? All of your vegetarian options could be made vegan especially in todays times we have vegan yogurt, milk, butter even paneer and ghee! Please look into this and make the change if not for us, for the poor animals

So lovely to find amazing vegan food. The food was lovely, the staff were polite, and the owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. If we come back to the area we would definitely eat there again.

Food is tasty and very authentic indian food

The food was good but nothing spectacular compared to the price. However the service was awful. We were asked to order our food all in one go. When we asked to order some extra food for my 6 year old son. A man came over and asked us why. It made we feel really uncomfortable. It felt like the owner looked down on Indian people.

Food was really nice but management sucked!! I'm explaining in details below: FOOD: It was delicious. Made by experienced hands and tasted good too. No doubt. Management: Management was terrible! There was this middle aged man with specs, he was very rude to everyone present there. Strictly monitoring the food we are having and being rude and disrespectful if asked for more food. We went on a buffet paid by STAR Tours but the restaurant provided us limited food though it was named 'buffet' and most importantly behaved very arrogantly as if we were begging! This man, especially, doesn't know the basic etiquettes, manners and has no sense of modesty. It's a short setup but they make good food. A homey atmosphere it can be. But for this place to grow, this rude man needs to learn the BASIC LESSONS OF MODESTY and the basics of hospitality too. I hope the restaurant authority looks into this behavioural iasue very seriously!

The best restaurant you can find for authentic Indian taste in Plymouth. Been here last night for dinner and I cannot recommend enough. There are so many restaurants claiming to serve the Indian taste but all are either Bangladeshi or something else but Veggie Perrins is the authentic one. Amazing environment, A+ hygiene, all staff members are very friendly (talk to them if ypu are confused what to order), pocket friendly, and perfect taste. Great for vegetarians. I loved Veggie Perrins!!

This place is amazing. The food is genuinely fantastic, so varied between the different dishes. The service was fantastic, and some good input was given when asked to help us decide what to have as a group.

Five star experience. Booking process was super easy and the service was absolutely outstanding! The food was stunning. We had the paneer special, the aubergine curry, the Aloo Gobi, mixed vegetable rice and chipati. So reasonably priced, with three glasses of wine the whole thing came to £40. No wonder this place has been going since the 90's. Excellent!

Just returned from a fabulous meal at Veggie Perrins. Fantastic authentic and freshly cooked food. The best curry house in Plymouth in my opinion! The food is very reasonably priced and tasty. Even if you are not a vegetarian, this restaurant is worth a visit. Yes it may look a little tired from the outside and the interior could do with updating. However the food and service is exceptional. We will definitely be returning.

We visited this restaurant on Friday night and from the moment we entered it was just a fabulous evening. The staff were friendly and smiley, and Bill, the owner, was so informative about the menu. We were spoilt for choice! The food is absolutely superb, and you can tell that it’s their passion to serve good food. We would definitely recommend this lovely little restaurant and can’t wait to visit again when we’re back in Plymouth.

Back after a while and delighted to find that it’s as tasty, friendly and good value as ever. Easily the best Indian option in the city. The menu has been revised and improved (if that were possible) and now laminated! Obviously also doing a healthy steady trade. Pleased to be able to recommend to everyone.

I’ve lived in Plymouth all my life and can’t believe I’ve not been to this restaurant until now after being recommended to go by a friend. The outside of the restaurant is unassuming and could be easily missed; the decor is simple but this doesn’t take away from the experience at all! It’s great to have somewhere with a fully vegetarian (and largely vegan) menu. There were lots of tasty sounding options but we went for veg korma, veg kerala and Chana masala. All 3 dishes were really tasty and not greasy and heavy like curries can often be. The portions weren’t huge so it was nice to have 3 dishes between two people to try different things. The prices were extremely reasonable and the staff were really friendly. It was nice to see that it was quite busy too. Poppadoms, 3 curry dishes, one rice, one chapati and 2 soft drinks came to less than £35. Already planning to return!

Authentic, tasty and reasonably priced Indian meal. The Dahl and chana masala were delicious along side the garlic rice. The bread wasn’t greasy and added a great accompaniment. Outside of being in India this was as authentic as it comes. The family staff were friendly and left you alone to enjoy your meal. We will definitely be returning soon.

Delicious and freshly prepared food and excellent value for money! We had the paneer tikka masala, veg curry and tarka dal with pilau rice, chapattis and onion bhaijis. Lovely to eat at an all veggie Indian restaurant, which also had plenty of vegan choices too. There is a pay and display car park just behind the restaurant, which is really convenient. We will return and definitely recommend!

Booked for 5.30 to make sure we got to the theatre on time. The restaurant was very accommodating and made sure our order was prioritised. Although it wasn't busy inside, there were a number of takeaways so this was helpful. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We shared a starter of kachori. As there were 3 balls, I asked for 4 so we could have 2 each, only charged for 3! Overall very impressed.

As an Indian living in UK, I had lost hope in Indian restaurants, but this one restored my faith. I am glad to have found this hidden gem. Food was delicious and felt like it was home made with excellent table service. Definitely will be a regular here.

Heard so many good reviews about this place so we thought we’d try it out. We are both not vegetarians, but I have to say the food quality was as good if not better than any Indian we have ever been to. We ate at a Michelin restaurant last week and actually enjoyed this more for an absolute fraction of the price. And when I say fraction I am not kidding, our meal which included starters, 3 mains and a bottle of Pinot Grigio came to £40, absolutely crazy. Yes, the decor maybe a little bit basic, but the staff were exceptional and after talking to the owner we discovered that they had been in Plymouth for 28 years. We also learned that it is a family run business - the niece served us, her mum and sister cooked our meal and her uncle is the owner - you really felt they cared about the food. We will definitely be going back

We went in on the 22nd, a family of 5, nothing was too much trouble, staff were so helpful and attentive without being intruding, now to the meals we all had starters, and the main, lovely portion size, and absolutely delicious, I'm not vegan or vegetarian, my veggie perrin korma and garlic rice is my favourite curry by far, and the mango juice is lush, all in all the food is amazing, staff are warm and welcoming and it's excellent value for money, will 100% recommend, Thank you for yer another wonderful meal

Have been meaning to check out Veggie Perrins for ages and finally managed to pay them a visit last night. All I can say is that I’m disappointed it’s taken me so long as I’ve been missing out on some amazing Indian food, with fantastic service and at the most reasonable prices! We shared poppadoms, a starter, 3 main dishes, rice and chapati, all of which came to around £30 with two drinks! Amazing value and such delicious food. There’s a lovely family run feel to the place, everyone who works there was so friendly and accommodating. My only recommendation would be to move away from using plastic bottles for the mineral water and also provide a different alcohol free beer, perhaps the cobra zero which is tastier in my opinion than becks blue. If you haven’t been here then you must go immediately. We will be back very soon!

What a delight to have an entire menu to eat from, service was perfect and homely. The food was superb and could be adjusted as required to taste, pudding a real surprise and delicious. Each an evey dish tasted different they were cooked with care and the individual spices could be picked out, this is not your generic Indian food but something we'll worth discovering, this is how I imagine Indian food should taste and now I have discovered it.

This was my first visit to this little restaurant - celebrating my vegetarian daughter’s birthday. On Thursdays they have a set menu for £14.95, specialising in Southern Indian cuisine. We felt it was excellent value. I’m told the drinks were very reasonably priced too. We were asked after the food if we wanted to see the dessert menu and I think they were all priced under £3. They were small but just finished the meal off perfectly. The staff were very welcoming and explained what each meal consisted of. They knew it was my daughter’s birthday and brought her dessert out with a candle and sung Happy Birthday with us. A very pleasant evening.

I adore Veggie Perrins. It’s the first place I’ll recommend for anyone visiting plymouth. delicious veggie curries and a wonderful family who owns it. There are no frills and the interior hasn’t changed for many years but it’s part of its charm. The food is always faultless. Thursday banquets are great fun and you get to have the dosa which is delicious. You must go here!

Who would have thought that Plymouth of all places, harbours one of the most authentic and delectable Gujarati restaurants I have ever been to. Order: 1 x Sweetcorn curry 1 x Kerela vegetables 1 x Smoked aubergine 2 x Puri 1 x Pratta 1 x Garlic rice I really coudln’t fault this meal, everything was so tasty and felt like pure home cooking. There’s a difference between most indian restaurants and this, in the sense that a lot of indian resuturants overload on the oil to flavour the masasla, however the curries here were light, moreish and well balanced. The Kerela vegetables in particular was my favourite, while my girlfriend enjoyed the depth of flavours to the aubgergine dish. The puri and garlic rice were very good too and the staff were incredibly pleasant and welcoming. Atmosphere wise, its cosy and quiet with a subtle smell of incense floating through the tables. As a South Asian person myself, I cannot reccomend this place anymore and believe that this is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in the UK. The food will warm your heart and you won’t leave feeling like you need to walk about 3 miles to cure your brimming belly. Thanks guys!

Absolutely fantastic, authentic Indian cuisine. Unlike many curry houses that offer up bland, overly greasy dishes, Veggie Perrins offers curries that you wouldn't often find. Oozing with great flavours and spices. I certainly will not be getting curry from any where else.

Best Indian food I have ever eaten (and I eat a lot). This is not your regular British Indian restaurant food, this is authentic Gujarati vegetarian food, where you can taste every spice and flavour. The food tastes fresh and delicate, designed for the vegetarian palate. The only downside is that you don't get enough.

On a visit to Plymouth we enjoyed a lovely 'sit-down' meal here, we are both vegetarian and I am Coeliac The menu was clearly coded as to any possible 'hazards' and the staff were friendly and more than helpful with advice and suggestions. Our food was delicious, to be able to relax and enjoy a meal with complete confidence was a real treat. A takeaway service is available but, sadly, they don't deliver to Wales! Highly recommended.

Always struggle to find good indian restaurants (having indian heritage myself means I'm very picky!) but this was outstanding, Puri just as good as my grandma makes and the Bengan Bhartha is a must try. Can't wait to come by for the South Indian night when it's back on :-)
