Me again. Back again. Couldn’t wait to come back. Beautiful food. Lovely staff. I adore it here. 10/10 worth the 2 hour drive!

Ignore the comments about the decor, it doesn’t matter. The food is authentic and presented beautifully. The young waitress was utterly delightful. Grace and manners before decor in my book. The food is glorious! My korma was rich and creamy and cooked to perfection! The chef/owner came and discussed our dishes with knowledge and passion. Divine! Definitely for foodies.

The food is always excellent at this place. Generally we have take away either collected or delivered however we have eaten in once ( don’t be put off by the deco - it’s bring your own drinks) very good and friendly staff

My wife and I visited on a Saturday evening at 5.30 so first in and our first visit. On sitting down the first thing you notice is the appalling state of the place. It was filthy. There was a extension lead by the window almost black with grime, food on the floor the decor in need of a dire luck of paint and the place a total clean. We were going to leave but I was recommended this place for the food. And you know what, it is quite good. Tasty balti, very good portions and a good price. Please lackys, clean, paint and make the place attractive and welcoming and more people will come. Unfortunately until then I won’t be back. A real shame. Sorry

I can't believe we haven't eaten here before last night.I am really fussy but I couldn't fault our meal. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and I would recommend anyone to go there. Thank-you guys

Our local Indian! We moved into our house early November and have had Lacky's 5 times since as we can't get enough! Great quality, with very friendly staff.

We've been ordering from Lacky's for several years now and I can honestly say that we have never been let down. Good food, reasonably priced and good delivery.

I had been recommended this restaurant by my sister so I thought I would give it a go. I placed my order for delivery at 1800 and was told it would be delivered to me by 1915 the latest. By 2030 it still hadn't arrived! I had tried to ring numerous times in the interim to see what had happened to my order but there was no answer. I therefore ended up cooking for myself and my husband. Just as I was dishing up the doorbell rang... at 2105!! WTH! Nearly 2 hours late! Horrendous service! My first and last time I will be ordering from here. Happy New Year folks!

Siz of us (including two youngish children!) ate an evening meal at Lacky's in October. As always, food was excellent and the table service swift and professional. The new (I think!) tables and decor, and the fact every table was taken, made the ambience good.

De lejos, el mejor indio en Plymouth. Nunca he probado un plato que no sea de primera clase. Porciones muy generosas, comida para llevar siempre bien caliente y servicio atento y amable. Además, desde que pasé a ser vegetariano hace 6 meses, no me puedo quejar de sus platos vegetarianos. Lleno de verduras frescas y siempre feliz de calentar como me gusta. Biryani de champiñones y bhuna de huevo son dos de los favoritos. Muy bien de precio. 10/10.

We've been coming here for years because it has the best Indian food in the Plymstock area and the quality is always high. The lamb madras is delicious 😋. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Adoro el pollo tikka masala de aquí y los poppadoms son realmente sabrosos. No es demasiado caro y se hace en 20 minutos por lo general. El único inconveniente es que no tienen conductor para la entrega, pero está a solo 10 minutos de mi casa, así que no hay problema si eres local o conduces. El personal es super amable y puedes pagar en efectivo o con tarjeta.

I have had a Take away the last 2 Fridays from Lackys. The food is excellent quality, particularly enjoyed the Chicken Dansak and Jalfrezi. A short wait time of just 30 minutes from order to collection and excellent value.

Salam and the team are wonderful, we have been visiting Lackys for over the past 6yrs and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Our then young boy would never try Indian however with the understanding staff who were happy to accommodate fussiness he has converted and Lackys is always the number one choice!Keep up the good work!

Our family went here for a sit down meal last night. Lots of choice from the menu and the food was delicious. The food was nicely presented too. We will definitely be returning. The only negative is the restaurant only accepts cash.

Llamamos por teléfono y hablamos con Salam, el dueño, y dijo que no había problema, ya que la mayoría de los alimentos no contienen lácteos. Tuvimos una comida FANTÁSTICA y sé que cuando los niños vuelvan aquí vendrán otra vez. A Megan y James les encantó la comida, dijeron que era muy sabrosa, incluso llevándose consigo lo que no podían comer. Excellent range of take away food options, some indoor seating, overall a great place for tasty Asian food in a village location (Hooe/Plymstock). Realistically priced, adjacent to small local shopping precinct and local village pubs.

Una reserva de última hora para 7 personas y nos atendieron muy bien. Esta es otra visita de repetición para nosotros y de nuevo no nos decepcionó. El personal nos hizo sentir como en casa y realmente nos cuidaron. La comida era muy buena y ninguno de nuestro grupo tenía ninguna queja. Otra gran visita, sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en la zona.

Really flavourful and not greasy indian

Llamamos y pedimos, pero tuvimos que recoger como no más entregas! ¡Llegamos a la hora indicada y luego procedimos a esperar otros 40 minutos! El restaurante estaba obviamente demasiado estirado. . . . ¡Otras 4 personas también esperan entregas, las órdenes telefónicas siguen siendo tomadas y la gente en el restaurante también! ¡Si no pudieron hacer frente no deberían haber tomado la orden! Cuando finalmente conseguimos nuestra comida y llegamos a casa, nos equivocamos de arroz, la comida estaba fría y los popadoms fueron destrozados. Nuestros hijos, el pollo tikka madras (que él mismo ordena a sí mismo) se congelaron y tuvo que tirarlo. Completa pérdida de tiempo y dinero! Sonó y se quejó y me dijeron que hicimos nuestro mejor esfuerzo! ! Me ofreció un descuento del 10% en mi próximo pedido. . . lo siento no es lo suficientemente bueno! ¡No volveremos!

Unexpectedly we stumbled across this balti house. After making a booking at last minute, the staff were very accommodating. The decor is a bit dated, however excellent food mitigates any need for refurb.

Visited Lacky’s after hearing some good things about the place and after a last minute decision and a quick check to see if there were any tables available it did not disappoint one bit. Fantastic service and excellent food that tops any other curry houses I’ve visited across Plymouth. One of those hidden gems that’s well worth a try, would definitely come here again. Highly recommended, you can bring your own drink as well!!

Food is very good. Bring your own alcohol - only soft drinks for sale. Does look much inside or out but worth the visit.

Lovely food and great restaurant

After many people saying how good this little hidden gem was we decided to give it a go. Local to the area and baby free for the evening we took a walk up. You can bring your own wine which is a winner and the food was so amazing! The gentlemen that served us was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The inside could do with a touch of paint but it was clean and the table was well presented. We would for sure go back again and I would say don’t judge a book by its cover!.....give it a go because I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Very tasty, ate in the restaurant .. and you can bring your own drinks. UPDATE BELOW Ok went here for father's day this year 2018 and the menu has changed (smaller I think) which is not bad thing so the chef can concentrate on better quality food. However on this visit the food was not its usual standard, the prices had gone up quite a bit, plates and cleanliness of the restaurant was a little to be desired, and the son did not want to be working there never smiled and wasn't polite. Father in law was asking him about what football team he supported, we all guessed Man U he said yes. Then he asked him had he seen them play the waiter said no sheepishly, then Father in law said why not and he said cause I don't like football I just said I do to keep the customers happy. Just all a bit odd. So I have dropped my stars down to two, for price increase not as good food poss smaller portions, unfriendly staff and a tired and not very clean restaurant and plates etc. The father I guess owns and runs and cooks. And at a guess his kids do the restaurant who really don't want to be there as they don't smile, and not very friendly. Won't be going back.

2nf time I have had a take away from here I have always been happy with it . We usually go quite early in the evening and it seems quite then.

Came out for an early supper last night. Bit concerned about the ‘cash only’ notice on the door but everything was well up to speed and both the quality and service first rate. We come here for the tastes and flavours which never fail. It’s a long trek around and out of town but easily worth it from time to time.

The title says it all - we were a group of about 15, and we all left very happy. Had mattar paneer, begian bhaji, shatkora chicken, mushroom pilau and peshwari nan between two people - everything was very well prepared and presented, tasty and portion sizes good.

Moved back to Hooe last Friday so naturally tried the Indian the next day. I opted for Chicken Tikka Madras and Son went for CTM. Food was delicious. Phoned and requested to collect at 7PM and food was ready 7PM on the dot. Friendly staff and food was piping hot. Decent size portions and a madras that was actually madras hot for once and not too weak. Sides were lovely as well. 10/10. Going order again tonight.

Nice take away that I have used a lot. The food is all very tasty and they can change dishes to suit as I like a hot curry and always good. Strange location but get past that and you won’t be disappointed.

This is a complete hidden gem, opposite Hooe Lake in Plymstock. It is not just a takeaway but a sit down restaurant too. I send all my Airbnb guests there. The food is freshly cooked to order and so reasonably priced. I had yet another dish from there last week that I have never tried before and it was gorgeous. What was more it was not on the menu! I really fancied the Chicken Mughlani (not sure if that is the right spelling) but with King Prawns - that was no trouble at all for them.

This was the first time that I have used Lackeys Balti House and was on my way home with about a mile to go after a 10 mile walk and several pub stops! I was hoping to order a home delivery but they stop that service at 9 pm. My meal was very good. One of the best that I have had but feel that I cannot give 5* after one visit. I will definitely use again.

The food isn't always cooked fresh so I always ask now when I order a takeaway and they ask the chef if its going to be cooked fresh, I thought this should be explained on the menu.

As regular visitors to Plymouth, happened to see this place tucked away on the way to Jennicliff. Noticed it was a Balti House and was interested in taking a look. Coming from up country we are used to going to getting our food from the 'Balti Triangle' in Birmingham. Looked at TA reviews and thought to give it a go. The outside of the building is not too clever and actually neither is the inside - but do not let this stop you. The owners are really friendly. Took our order quickly. Had a bit of a wait for the food but when it arrived - WOW. The Balti Chicken Tikka is excellent and the Tarka Dahl is one of the best I have tasted. Rice great and the Roti was soft and plain just like it should be. Really good value - you can take your own alcohol. We look forward to going back again soon when we are in Plymouth again.

Not the first time we have visited as a group and we will keep coming back. Excellent selection on the menu at reasonable prices. Staff were really friendly even when we said we needed to wait half an hour for the rest of our group. The food is still cooked to a high quality with generous sized portions. We will be back..... again..

Good indian cuisine. The main issue is that they try to cheat their customers. The first time we went, we dined in. After paying the bill, we noticed that the total was 3 pounds more than if you add up the individual items on the bill. We were overcharged. This error turned us off the place. A few weeks later, we decided to have another go. This time, we added up the items, before paying, just to make sure. Lo and behold, once again the total was 3 quid more than it should have been. While this might be two random coincidences, IME this place tries to cheat customers. Twice in a row, the same 3 quid overcharge. Now that we are aware, we will double-check their math every time, and now it's only a minor annoyance. In summary, double check their math. You've been warned. Oh yes, the food and service is very good.

We dressed to eat in the restaurant but found on arrival at 9.30 they closed at 10.00 so ordered a takeaway. The meal, two portions of rogan josh and rice, took less than 10 mins to cook and with a few extras cost £18.00. The curry consisted of a few chunks of chicken, slices of uncooked tomatoe in a very thin peppery gravy. A forgetable third rate curry and probably the worse curry we've ever tasted. Why all the positive reviews?

New to the area, on holiday, so we used TA as a guide. The establishment is advertised on here and on their website as closing at 10.30. We arrived at 9.25 and were promptly told they were closing at 10. We dressed to eat in the restaurant, we needn't of bothered since the place was empty and ordered a takeaway. 4 popadoms the best part of the meal, onion and mango chutneys, very small portions. Two main coarses of chicken rogan josh were ordered and dispatched to us in less then 10 minutes! No boiled rice so I had pilau. A doughie, chewie nan bread was also ordered to go. The curry had no red or green peppers and mainly consisted of lightly fried tomatoes and a few chunks of chicken. No depth of flavour at all, the sauce was just a watery peppery gravy and my girlfriend and I can't believe all the great reviews here on TA. Like false news I suppose you get false reviews. We'll wait until we get home for our next Indian.

Not sure why they felt the need to replace the flooring or add the show home wallpaper. Can't think that the original decor ever put anyone off. Much relieved to find that this excellent far out suburban Indian remains as excellent and tasty as we have always known it. Long may it continue.

Just a few neighbours getting together to have a curry and a chinwag, as we sometimes do. Always a pleasure to come here, the food is excellent, the owner is charming and the fact that it is BYO allows us to watch our pennies and therefore come more often. Have never been disappointed and consider it to be one of Plymouth's little gems!

We're regulars to this place, I'm only sorry that we didn't find it sooner. Authentic delicious food. I adore this place, I would recommend the chicken Jaflong, although all very tasty. Family run and care much about the customers who are regulars.

Have only just put my fork down. Have not long moved to the area, already have had a few bad curries. This was not one of them. AMAZING. The bhaji's are small and full of flavour, great crispy popadoms and rich spicy curry. We all were very impressed. Staff all were pleasant, new family favourite.

This is a gem of a restaurant, tucked away in Hooe, adjacent to the main road. The food was really fabulous - freshly cooked and tasting like it! A lovely variety of tasty dishes. A very small restaurant area - the 7 of us were the only seated customers that weekday evening but a few came in for take-aways. We didn't mind as atmosphere still lovely. Take your own alcohol and no corkage charge! Soft drinks on sale. Would thoroughly recommend whole experience. Car parking behind shops.
