Really disappointed after calling to check delivery to find out that it will be late after ordering 2 hours prior. Keema rice and the extra promised starter were also missing. 3 hours late in total. Not good enough.

Even though the food was lovely when it arrived it took nearly an hour to come . We had not ordered any starters. Just eat / delivery orders seem to be prioritised . We had to move tables as it was extremely cold sat near the door as it opened. Unfortunately our male waiter had a bad personal hygiene problem which was really not pleasant in an eating establishment.

Waited a further 20 minutes for food . By the time I got it home the chicken pathia definitely was not a chicken pathia,there was no nan bread that I'd ordered!! I love too far to and it was late to take it all back.

90 minutes late. I ordered online approx 1pm, so plenty of time to organise and deliver on time. Phone twice to find out where our order was, was told sorry and a free bottle of Prosecco will come as an apology, but no Prosecco came.

Disappointed as ordered food at 5pm for delivery 7pm and arrived 0815pm and food was cold.

Outstanding food takeaway but it is one of the dearer Indians - don’t seem to get a lot for your money, £43 for 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 rice 1 portion of chips and a naan! X

Booked a table for 5 turned up was very diaspointed to find out out my reservation had been forgotten about... it was for my work leaving meal and the so called lady tried to trick me into thinking that she had spoken to me and I didn't not even book it. After confirming that I did she disappeared and I was left with no apology from her and to go to Plympton spice who were very welcoming and would highly recommend.

The restaurant said they hadn’t received the order even after we received an email stating they did so the collection time was longer than expected but they gave me a beer whilst waiting

Food was fantastic best curry I have had in ages. Ordered for 1930 but arrived 8pm but do understand it’s a Saturday night and time is only an estimate.

Been a few months since my last visit, none the less I was welcomed with a handshake and a smile. Shown to my "usual" table and the beer and poppadoms arrived in 5 mins. I have tried quite a few of their dishes now but am always drawn to my all time favourite Chun Chun Lamb. Rich, thick, spicy but bursting with flavour with all the ingredients identifiable. This is to date the best lamb curry I have had in a restaurant and I've been all over! Quality food, quality service and a nice atmosphere continue to make this a jewel in Plymouths Crown. Please try it!

Great food but far too much for one person. Ideal to share.

We were here for a family birthday and had a very enjoyable evening. Although we booked early in the evening the restaurant was still nearly full proving how popular it is. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the menu extensive and delicious. .Well done to the staff and compliments to the Chef. We shall definitely be visiting again.

Tasty food but service is poor. Food in general is good with vegetarian options. Service is hit and miss in the restaurant and on the last visit it was miss. Staff can be argumentative with customers, service was inconsistent and unprofessional. Wouldn’t go back at the moment

No music or atmosphere, service ok, food ok, would not rush to go back. Lamb tikka and onion bahjis were nice, sweet chilli sauce seemed an odd sauce to have with them. Chicken madras ok chicken saag far too much spinach and tough chicken

Delivery time was between 6.40pm and 7pm, it arrived at 7.15pm. The driver apologised for the delay. The food was very bland and was unfortunately not enjoyed much.

The app updated that it had been delivered when it hadnt been and was later than the lastest possible time, then when it was delivered we were missing an entire main meal

It was all cooked well but didn’t enjoy it the curry was so sweet and full of sugar, also had a tikka masala that didn’t come with any sauce was just seasoned chicken in a tub full of onions and no sauce, could of been we ordered wrong but not for us, I felt it was very pricey for what we received.

Delivery was on time, polite driver but on this occasion, sorry to say the food wasn’t great. Curry was quite tasteless, too much onion also. The shamee kebab, 2 of us had this and we have both had upset tummies all night. Normally food is great but just a bad batch today.

Visited last week and had a great meal. Amazing flavours and spice. Recommend to anyone wanting a good Indian meal

Went here for a birthday dinner and the food was heavenly. Loved the atmosphere and the staff were ever so friendly and accommodating. They truly defined good customer service. We were also given complimentary Sambuca and Bailey's towards the end and they were kind enough to keep the shop open until our cab arrived, didn't complain at all. Looking forward to visiting again.

Amazing food, fantastic service

Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful Indian food. We all had the mild dishes....Korma and Mogul. Nice thick sauce with the chicken...perfect to dip Peshwari Naan bread ! Would definitely recommend a visit.

Really great food, we used order from here a long time ago and forgot about it after moving. Someone recommended it and we gave it a go as we realised they deliver to us via just eat - just as good as we remembered! Will be ordering again!

My first visit was at the beginning of the week when I collected a takeaway. I was impressed with every aspect: the welcome and helpfulness, the cleanliness, and most of all the food…I’ve travelled a lot and the food was fragrant, generous, perfectly spiced, in fact authentic and masterly. I was knocked out. Returned at the end of the week with a friend to eat in, much busier, but perfect service, spotless white cloths, excellent menu, waited a little longer for the food but it’s a popular and busy place and perfectly acceptable unless you want “instant”. in which case go elsewhere. There was the same attention to detail with the food which was fresh and piping hot. and delicious. Well done team and praise to the chefs.

Disappointed! Used to be my favourite Indian takeaway but gone downhill. Preordered for opening time £40 worth of food. Poppadoms and onion bhajis were stale and clearly not cooked fresh. Quality okay but nothing that blows us away anymore.

This restaurant has an expansive menu with many delicious food options and outstanding service! We will definitely be returning!

Firstly I have to say that my visit was early on a Monday evening so it was quiet hence the atmosphere review! Dispite the above, and being a lone diner, I was enthusiastically welcomed and shown to my table. Looking around the restaurant was bright, airy and smart.Beer and poppadoms arrived promptly to keep me happy whilst I perused the menu. A lot of 'different' dishes in the specials section which made choosing fun. I settled for chun chun lamb with aloo gobi and pilau rice. This was all served piping hot and the lamb was truly delicious, butter soft and packed with flavor! The food was some of the very best I've had and completed by attentive and friendly service from both my waiter and the'boss'. They obviously care alot about what they do and it shows. Well done Shapla, I'll be back!

This is a super restaurant. We have eaten in the restaurant and had takeaways from Shapla. The staff are always very friendly, cheerful and polite. Ali the owner is always very welcoming and we love visiting the restaurant. We had a takeaway with our son and daughter in law who live locally and it was the usual very high standard of food, always fantastic quality and so tasty. We always look forward to have an indian from Shapla, just wish they had a restaurant near Sidmouth.

Attentive service and food is absolutely great.

The food was excellent. The service was poor at best. Their focus seems to be more on takeaway than the people in the restaurant. We would of had more to eat and drink if we could of got served. 30 minutes after asking for the bill with no response, We went to the till and asked to pay.

The food is lovely. The restaurant is diabolical. Such long waits. Have come here a few times and it’s always the same. Just eat comes first. Shouldn’t be a restaurant.

Had a home delivery thought we try them out. Delivered on time and it was hot. Best curry I’ve had so far glad I tried them. Will now use them all the time

On entering I was welcomed by the pleasant staff who showed me to my table. This restawasbestablisged in 1999. Drinks menu was a wide variety and the chilled magners was refreshing. Poppadoms and a variety of dips kick started the evening. Very generous portions. A mixed platter was the choice of my starter and it came with salad and was excellent in taste and presentation. Again portions plentiful. For my mains I had the Raj Biriyani and came in a large plate with a madras vegetable sauce again plentiful. Staff were very welcoming by ensuring everything ok and thisbwas reassuring and shows customer experience care and attention. We couldn't eat all of it, so takeaway boxes were at hand to have again. I would thoroughly recommend Shapla, an award winning Restaurant that excels in top class food and service. Will definitely visit again and a huge thank you to the owner and staff.

Popped in to collect my online order - staff were immediately attentive and super friendly, even though I was in there for only 5 seconds max. A gentleman who I assumed was the manager (he had that kind of confidence about him) handed me my order which was piping hot and so neatly packed. Back at home, absolutely delighted to find the food was just delicious. I was expecting another sub-par curry house (Plymouth isn't exactly a food mecca...) but it was nothing like that. We had sag aloo, veg madras, veg masala and a few chapatti to soak it all up. Complimentary poppadums and dips just made it even better. Will definitely be going in for a sit down dinner next time. Namaste.

Lovely food. The delivery driver (8th Jan 2024) was really nice and friendly- made a pleasant change to the usual person who doesn’t even speak or smile.

Friendly staff etc. The onion bhajis were sitting in grease, my chicken tikka balti was full of water in the bottom of the bowl making my rice soggy. Chicken tikka masala was nice though.

Cannot fault Shapla the food was amazing, however it took over 2 hours to arrive after ordering and was over an hour late, i called the restaurant and they apologised and said they'd put in a bottle of prosecco as an apology i did not receive the prosecco
