Ordered on Just eat excellent food good portions and everything piping hot arrived on time couldn’t fault it will definitely use again

We have been using them for a few years now and find the food is excellent. A family run business caring about the product, very friendly service.

I can't fault the food. Lots of choice and good size portions. None of the food way greasy and there so lots of flavor. There sag paneer was unlike what I'm use to but absolutely delicious and if we hadn't had plans for after I'd have absolutely order more. The only negative, is it it was busy, I think it would feel cramped. But we were eating early, so it wasn't a problem. I think it's going to be our new pre-threatre food spot.

Staff are very friendly, the food is tasty and good portion sizes, the wraps are very nice would recommend

What a find! Tucked away in a back street where no one would see it, is the most amazing Indian restaurant. So pretty inside and the food is fantastic. Can't recommend it enough.

We met at this restaurant for a fantastic meal ahead of seeing "Anything Goes" at the nearby Devonport Playhouse and were immediately struck by the ample free parking in the area (unlike Plymouth City Centre!) and lovely ambiance of the restaurant. The food was AMAZING... we ordered two vegetarian dishes, one nan bread (which was *huge*), and one helping of rice, all to share, and it was absolutely perfect.

Went here last night with a friend good choice of food on the menu for meat eater or none meat eater. We went for the vegetarian/vegan dishes, absolutely delicious both our meal was, best Indian l have had for a long time, staff was very welcoming & friendly. Would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. If your driving there is is a carpark about 3 min away opposite icelend . The restaurant is only taking cash but there is cash machine in the wall next to iceland & a cash machine in a another food shop a few door down.

We have been ordering from school of spice takeaway for many years but decided this weekend to try out his restaurant…worth the trip! The food is always delicious from the takeaway and eating it straight from the kitchen was a complete revelation! The pickles for the poppadums were beautifully spiced and the cauliflower pakoras were soft but not over cooked with a crispy batter. The hot and spicy curry with naga chillies had my husband sweating but raving about the spice level and my chicken Ada had a beautiful medium spiced sauce. If you order takeaway from here then take a chance and visit the restaurant…it’s worth it!

We’ve had many Indian takeaways but still thinks this is the best. We had a few round the corner but we rather use school of spice a bit further down because they’re always good. They also didn’t mind our special requests. Good portion size, and free papadams. Good work school of spice, keep it up.

Excellent friendly service can take your own drinks

Probably the best tasting Indian food around. We've ordered from here several times, but the food is constantly late. This evening it should have been here almost 45 minutes ago, and we're still waiting. No point in calling because they only ever say "it's with the driver". I'm pretty sure they're swimming across the Tamar tonight. It's a shame because the food is always so tasty.

I've been ordering takeaway food for delivery from School of Spice for a good number of years now and felt it was time that I posted a review. The extremely high standard and quality of the food, together with the excellent flavours, freshness and speedy expedition and delivery make School of Spice my very favourite Asian takeaway, I believe that it is a family business and the family are all very friendly and helpful, I've never had cause for complaint and never been disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant and their takeaway and delivery service.

Genuinely the tastiest Indian meal I have ever had! I’ve not been anywhere in years that allows you to bring your own wine to accompany your meal. Definitely recommend eating in and enjoying a date night/works do with your lidl plonk!

Had a meal delivered this evening and as usual it was delicious. Very good portion sizes. Mains could easily serve 2 people. We even tried new dishes tonight and especially enjoyed the lemon nan. Will definitely order again in the future.

I always order from the school of spice as it is always great tasting food. Tonight I ordered the set meal for one and it was amazing, great curry house, probably one of the best in Plymouth!!

My friend booked the restaurant for Sunday Lunchtime. The restaurant opened especially for us as they are not normally open until 5pm. The 4 of us were made very welcome with no restrictions on what we could order. The service and the quality of the food was fantastic. A great visit many thanks.

The Indian food here was, as usual, delicious. The staff are also brilliant. Very friendly and helpful. The only reason it didn’t get full marks was because of the toilets which were much in need of a clean and service.

We came across this restaurant by chance but we were so pleased we did?!! The staff were charming and friendly and although we were the only people eating in (it was early) they were doing quote a trade for take aways and still served us efficiently. The food was delicious - freshly cooked, hot and tasty. The menu was extensive and varied so lots to choose from. Bring your own wine with no corkage charged. A wonderful find...will definitely be back and probably order a home delivery before too long.

The food here is outstanding! Me and my partner love Indian food and have tried just about every one in Plymouth and this is the best one by miles! Everything we had was extremely tasty and hot and very authentic. If you're a curry fan you must go here!!

My friend and I had a wonderful meal tonight at School of Spice. We both had a meal for one deal which was extremely reasonable. The portion size and flavor areexcellent. It was a real treat that I thoroughly recommend. The server Uma was very attentive and friendly. An overall wonderful evening that didn't break the bank balance

Me and my fiance came here last week and we were pleasantly surprised how tasty and fresh the food was - I had the garlic chilli chicken and it was absolutely delicious and my partners meal was too! We are big fans of Indian food and this has to be the best Indian restaurant in Plymouth!

Very nice food, cooked to perfection.

They have zero communication skills, rude. I was asking various questions on the phone. She left me hanging on the phone for 5-10 min in silence and when I did speak to her she said ‘I need to get off the phone other people are calling’. I believe this lady is the reception, chef all in one. I used to go there often but I won’t anymore. I’ll be going Indus, they are more professional and friendly there.

Had a delivery of food from School of Spice and I was not disappointed. Great flavour and spice combinations with heat where you'd expect it. The Nan's where fresh and tasty and the lime chutney, well, wow! I can heartedly recommend and will certainly be ploughing through the menu to try other dishes in future. I ordered through the School of Spice website on my phone (Android) and although it wasn't the prettyist of web sites it was practical and functional. The payments process was easy and has the option for PayPal so you can do all the secure payment methods through there. The wait time was about 45 minutes but as I said the food was fresh and worth the wait. I hope this helps you.

I invited my friend to come out for a curry in my local area. I recommended this restaurant as it has been changed so you can eat in. I booked a few days before just to make sure we got a table - social distancing may limit the tables. We were able to take our own wine in and no corkage fee. The food was very good, I had one of the packages for one, I had to take the rest home! I would recommend coming here if you love indian food, the staff are very friendly. Just one note, maybe some music could be put on in the background.

My gosh the food here was tasty.Visited while on a family break and felt really lucky to have stumbled across this restaurant.We had chutney tray on arrival (really good!), followed by the mixed meat starter, onion bhajis and prawn cocktail. They were all delicious.Our main courses were beautiful, our only regret being that we were too full to finish it all! One of the nicest Lamb Dhansak's I have ever had. Also, our Peshwari Naan was stunning.The lovely waitresses offered to pack up what we left for us to take away as we were genuinely sad not to finish it. The service was excellent!Will definitely visit if in the area again.

Weve had a lot of curries in this household over the years and I have to say this is probably one of the best I've had the food was delivered piping hot on a bust Saturday night and packed full of flavour . definitely recommend only down side was no free papadums for an order over £35 but that was through just eat app maybe worth trying them direct next time

We live in Saltash and had a takeaway delivered from School of spice and it was unreal!! Everything came through hot with prompt and polite service. Extra popadoms and sauces were put in the bag as well. Will defo order again!!!!!

We have ordered two takeaways from here since the lockdown, and the quality has been fabulous! The onion bajhis are of a good size and not greasy at all, and the curries are very delicately spiced. The service was also very speedy, arriving in about 15-20 minutes.

Its a take out of play mouth. Special dish are prepare for people. I hope cheek this.

We always find it very hard to get a good curry in Plymouth. We have previously thought we found the best and then get disappointed by cheap meats being used or, inconsistent flavours and too much MSG. We used School of Spice last evening and to our surprise we found that the quality of chicken used was very good, the taste of the curry was authentic, the balance of spice was spot on and we slept, well so it appears little or no MSG was used! We are hoping this remains consistent and are looking forward to our next delivery or visit when the lockdown is over :)

Absolutely delicious, the flavours were amazing, the onion bhajis were not greasy which is a big plus. We always order the same thing, a Madras and a Dansak, both were full of spice and heat which is just how we like it.

Had a jalfrezi last week and a vindaloo this week both absolutely amazing, had the vindaloo with less spice and you can really taste the subtle differences! Makes a good change to every take away tasting the same! Excellent service from everyone thankyou!

Had our second eat in meal here in Early March. Excellent service and good quality fresh food. The restaurant couldn’t have done more for us at the end of a tiring work week was nice to eat close to home. Had take away the following week just as good quality from home too.

Ordered a takeaway for 3 people. The meal arrived 30 mins earlier than expected which was a definite bonus. Very good sized portions, and a very good price.We all enjoyed the meal, and will definitely be using this takeaway again.

We have had many delicious take aways from this restaurant that we decided we had to book a table for a meal and boy what an absolutely amazing meal we had. Very generous sized portions that had me and my partner struggling to finish. The head chef even coming out to ask if all was good and to explain the spices involved with each meal. Excellent value for money and top service.

The School of Spice is now a fully fledged restaurant. Still offering all the excellent food it has on the takeaway menu but now in the comfortable, bright, clean restaurant. The staff are very welcoming the food is great the parking is free. Give The School of Spice a go - support our local independent businesses, especially when they are this good.

We always have a takeaway from here and was never disappointed. It has now added a restaurant. We went for a meal on Thursday 9th January and was delighted. The food was very tasty and the service was great. Need to sort the music out though!!. Maybe take the tables down a size. It was very cosy. Great atmosphere. If you are looking for terrific food I highly recommend this out of the way little restaurant. If you use trip advisor ignore any message from me for Spice Merchant as they are not a restaurant.

I have been coming to this takeaway for the past 10 years and was delighted to hear that they converted the place into a restaurant. Their Indian food is some of the best I’ve had in Plymouth and their presentation is up to a high standard. The staff are well trained and the customer service is exceptional as they are always friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to put on places to eat.

I recently visited this new restaurant, the decor and lighting is so vibrant. Ordered a prawn jalfrezi with biryani and peshwari nan, everything came out hot and tasted amazing! Definitely recommend for a nice evening meal out and will be visiting again!

Can’t comment on food as it never turned up ..when calling them they hung up so called again only to be called a liar then they wanted me to take all 8 meals back so they could see the missing meal. Pathetic service

This is our favourite Indian takeaway so wanted to try the restaurant for a very special birthday. My son was spoilt from the minute we arrived. The food was as perfect as ever and we will be coming back. Thank you for making josh's birthday have a very special ending.

Just had a huge order delivered. Missing one meal, so phoned to complain. To have the phone put down on us! So, phoned back and the woman the huffed and puffed down the phone. All we wanted was them to deliver the missing meal. What hardship for that to happen. Still no meal and they want us to take back everyone else’s half eaten meal!! Fuming! No help will never order from here again. The staff are so rude!!!

Visited this evening the newly opened curry restaurant school of spice. Nice decor, traditional music playing, clean and warm - food was delicious - tasty, fresh, and well presented. We will definitely return. Wishing this new venture every success!

Como cliente habitual, me sorprendió cuando llegó un pedido repetido sin arroz incluido. Aparentemente, esto ahora necesita ser ordenado y pagado por separado, hubiera sido bueno si me hubiera enterado de esto antes de que se aceptara la orden. El caballero con el que hablé cuando llamé fue extremadamente grosero, discutidor e inútil. No volveré a usar este lugar.
