Probably the best fish and chips in Exeter. The service is always spectacularly fast and good, and every meal I've had from Hook's has been brilliant. I also think they're very reasonably priced too.

Chips are good. Clean shop and seating area. Good service. Orders served on a plate if you're seated. Best chippy I've been to in Exeter.

Great fish and chips. We order takeout a couple of times a month and it’s always delicious. They give a little bit of tartar sauce and a slice of lemon which is a lovely addition.

Was recommended - OMG...awesome fish and chips with lemon slices, peas, tartare sauce. Really good. No greasy residue, freshly cooked. Quick and efficient service. If you have the large portion it will take 2 of you to eat it ! Lunch time they do a special deal for £7. You can also sit in, not as in a restaurant sort of way but open box, sit and eat. Very clean. Mixed demographic. Very popular and worth it.

Ordered takeaway fish & chips waited for them to be delivered over 1 hour & 30 mins, they arrived cold and inedible. Rang twice to ask when they would arrive. Staff member on the telephone was very unhelpful. Total waste of £36, will never use Hook again, this is the second time the food has been late and cold.

Superb, went in at lunch time and they run a special between 11:30-3 I think which is £7 for small cod and chips & a side. Ate at window seat, whole place was immaculate and food arrived quickly. Just the right amount for lunchtime quick bite and I couldn’t fault any of it. Will defiantly be retuning when in city again.

Popped in there on the spur of the moment while visiting. Great takeaway! The place was clean and looked great there was seating so sat down. Mug of tea and cod and chips arrived quickly , cod was practically hanging off the plate and it was only the medium. Well presented with tartare sauce and a slice of lemon. Service was quick and friendly too and overall great value. Recommended

This has to one of the best fish and chip takeaways I have had in a very long time. The batter on the fish was golden brown and nice and crispy with lovely thick cod inside and the chips were really good. Their curry sauce was yummy, the pot of tartar sauce and a slice of lemon is a nice touch, along with the sachet of lemon hand wipes.

First of all it is super hygienic. That's very important to me. I noticed they had a 5 star rating for hygiene. Everything is cooked to perfection and with a smile. Good size portions and they select really good fillets to fry with lots of fish meat. So you feel you are getting quality fish for your money. Love it

Thought I'd try these today was not dissapointed absolutely amazing fish n chips! . Very polite staff and quick as well. Baring in mind I live 17 miles away was still hot when I got home definitely coming back .

Really tasty and yummy. Presentation is good, the size portion is really generous and the staff are very friendly.

Keep charging different prices for the same food on several different occasions. One day it's cheaper then all of a sudden on another day the price is higher. This has happened on several occasions more than three times and it's the exact same food that has been ordered each time so very strange. Please charge the same price or at least change your prices on the boards and display so that you charge the EXACT price in future instead of random prices each time. Also visited the same time nearly everytime so nothing to do with special deal 'times' . Never had this in any other chip shop. This chip shop was always great but haven't been pleased lately. Shame

I've heard the fish & chips are very good here, but I would never visit here purely as of the location. Sadly, one of the worst streets in Exeter. I hope they move premises, as I've heard many say, and know many feel ,the same.

Went into the restaurant Wednesday about 4 o'clock just before it poured down with rain I always go for haddock more flavour than cod in my view had it with chips and mushy peas everything fresh noticed another guy cooking the fish from fresh not a piece already cooked left sat there for hours really enjoyed the meal the last Fish and chips restaurant in Exeter near the College was absolutely diabolical nothing fresh purely for students

So, we came down from Ilfracombe for a weekend of retail therapy. 1.30 on a busy Saturday and trying to find a restaurant that wasn't full, even daring to go in the local wetherspoons heaven forbid (wiped our feet on the way out) we strolled past Hook chippy and immediately turned back. As soon as we walked in we felt welcome. The place is spotlessly clean with very friendly staff. We sat at a table after ordering and only had to wait 10 minutes until our food came with a smiley chap. dead tasty and piping hot. The best bit of all is where nowadays can you get good service, good food in a clean environment that you'd be more than happy to return to, I know Hook chippy.

Firstly haddock was great, freshly cooked with a light crispy batter and great flavour not greasy at all, fish had a nice "steamed" flavour 👍. That's the main event. Free lemon and tartare sauce. I did dine in at no extra cost. Portion was suitable and I couldn't eat all of the chips 😃 curry sauce was good if not a little salty. Chips were great and staff were nice.

We tried Hook after reading the mixed reviews of the new Krispies in Exeter. We ordered a large cod and cheesy chips, with four salt and pepper squid. The fish was an excellent sized portion and very well cooked, crispy and hot. The chips were also delicious. Overall it is five stars for its fish and chips - we will go back. However, I think £1.70 for cheese is the most I've paid at a chippy and the squid were not worth getting.

Great fish ,perfect cooked, not this or burned crust ... I didn't buy chips, but saw a customer's order for some ,looking very good and large portions Very good prices as well. The shop is very spacious and spotless clean. When in town and fancy fish and chips, this is the place. Otherwise, parking charge right in front of the shop.
