Staff were so lovely and made us feel very welcome! There was a miscommunication with an order but it was handled beautifully and we still got what we wanted in the end and the food was spectacular! Highly recommend, great servers, great food, great place!

Great atmosphere, very friendly, lively bar and delicious food. The scallops are stunning and the pistachio profiteroles are 'to die for'. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Myself and my partner went for some food as a personal celebration for ourselves, booking in advance and having walked by old building being local we were very intrigued and thought it looked nice place to go. So when we had seen they moved we thought it would be a nice option. When we arrived it was very busy, and clearly they had a big party in, we had to fight our way to be seen through the bar and eventually we were taken to our table which was right in the middle of restaurant, we had a long table to our right, which was evident was for all people at bar, I would say for at least 25 people maybe more and few other single tables to our left. Our table was only one smack right in middle, and was on the flight path between the big table, the toilet and the kitchen. (So hardly relaxing) The first half was good, we ordered our food before the big table had sat down, and enjoyed our starters, and had nice conversation, but after a longer wait for our mains, the big table descended, in which we were met by inconsiderate drunks in my opinion who literally took no notice that we were even there, knocking table a couple of times, brushing past, and at one point had a lady's bum in my face, and practically sat on my lap. This lady insisted in giving a hug to a person at the table who was sat at the table to my right, and the proceeded to have a conversation with them for a good 10 minutes, taking no notice that I had to stop eating my main course! No consideration! Now this amongst the sheer noise of the table next to us, meant that not only did we feel like we were very much in the way, with continuing traffic of people all around us of staff and customers but also meant that we couldn't even hear each other we both ended up just sat in silence for the rest of our meal once the big table had decended. After we ate our mains, we just asked for the bill and left, as we couldn't take it any longer, cutting short our celebration and unsure of whether we would return, as it wasn't the experience we were hoping for! Now the thing that we couldn't fault was the food, it was amazing, and I wouldn't normally complain, but for the fact that it is quite a nice restaurant, I would have expected a better experience overall, and perhaps consideration in regards to either communication at time of booking (as we probably would have come another night if we had known), in making us aware you have a large table in etc, or looking at layouts of tables more, or even denying our booking in the first place and not compromising others experiences when you have such a large party in! I have a background in hospitality and know what its like, but I would never put customers in that position we felt very much and after thought, especially after the big table sat down, and we would have stayed and had a dessert, coffee etc but due to the fact we couldn't face being in that position we decided to go home feeling disappointed. All in all very good food, we just wished we had booked another night and perhaps some more consideration.

What a great disappointment! Table booked in restaurant at least 2 months beforehand for 7.45 to celebrate birthday but when we arrived we were told the table wasn’t ready.There was no apology and we were told to go and get a drink in the bar. After over 20 minutes we were told there was still no table available but we could eat in the bar or continue to wait.The bar was noisy and crowded but we looked at the menu and chose what we wanted. Nobody came to take our order, we were not given a wine list nor were we told what the specials were. When we finally attracted attention from a waiter and politely expressed our dissatisfaction, there was still no apology and he said we now had a table in the bar and that this was a ‘social restaurant’. When we said we weren’t prepared to spend £150 to sit in this environment,the response was very condescending. He referred to me as ‘darling’ which neither of us was happy about! We have visited many reputable eateries over the years and have never been treated so badly and unapologetically. Once we had finished our drinks, we left and went elsewhere which was much more welcoming,less expensive and they even apologised for a slight wait. I get the impression that whoever runs the Cornerhouse has forgotten that the customer matters and they seem to be resting on their laurels and perhaps relying on existing regulars.Unfortunately they have lost new potential regulars by their dismissive attitude.

Could not fault anything about our experience here. The service and the atmosphere were great but the food was phenomenal. We woke up craving the seafood platter the day after, it was beautiful.

If I could give 6 stars I would. My husband and I visited for our wedding anniversary after a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed! The seafood platter is other worldly, beautiful quality with lots of flavour and our mains (seafood linguine and rack of lamb) were divine. Beautiful atmosphere and service, thank you for making our evening special

We might have missed out. We booked a table here, But were really put off by the dull, Boring, Overpriced menu. Not seeing any people enjoying the food, we left as we figured, If the food was as good as the prices suggest, At least the menu would be more interesting. For the price it did not feel right.

Wow pistachio cream profiteroles, heavenly. Scallops and seafood linguine strongly recommended , absolutely delicious. My husband had the goats cheese parcel and steak also excellent. Great ambience and lively bar with superb cocktails, the pornstar martini is the best I have tasted, and I have tried a few! but the food is just outstanding. I wish I could visit more often.

Beautiful Restaurant, with excellent food & wonderful service.

We went today for Sunday lunch. It was superb; everything was really tasty, cooked perfectly and prepared with great attention to detail. The portions were generous and the service was attentive without being fussy. We’ll be going again soon.

A superb lunch from their Christmas specials menu, delicious and well presented.The rabbit Ballantine was a great starter followed by the slow cooked brisket eight of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals .Some of us indulged with cocktails which were pronounced to be delicious . Will certainly be returning

An unexpected revelation , very friendly welcome from behind the bar and shown to our table with drinks following promptly . A short but we’ll thought out menu that looks after all diets . A hearty bean & sausage soup was packed with warming flavours and served with wonderfully warm fresh bread . A warm goats cheese & chargrilled med veg focaccia had top quality ingredients with an excellent salad . Interesting selection of wines and beers and finally a perfectly presented short black americano . A really good atmosphere from a local crowd at the bar just added to a well spent Saturday lunch catching up with friends . Many thanks to all . At The Corner House .

Called in without a reservation, looking for a pre gig meal. Was shown to a table in a side room, as the main room was very busy, which suited me perfectly. Very nice service from the crew, and a great meal - pork cutlet with various veg, sauté new potatoes and a creamy leek sauce. A real cut above other offerings in the town, from what I could see. Heartily recommended.

Lovely place to have a nice evening out. The service was very good and suited the atmosphere well, music was well chosen with a mix of pop and funk. The food is good, I must recommend the seafood platter which is really nice and perfect for sharing! Wine is paired well , cocktails are nicely done and balanced. Prices are reasonable for this type of establishment and the portions are big.

Light, bright and airy. A warm welcome and appropriately attentive server who referred an unusual allergen to her chef. Generous portions, very adequate menu with vegetarian & GF options (sorry didn’t check vegan). One of the best homemade beefbugers I’ve tried - tasty, moist and a lovely halumi topping. Nice sharing platters, then sorbet went down very well. Recommend for ambience, service, cooking, menu and situation. Multi-storey 3mins away.

You may need to book in advance but it's well worth doing so. Very friendly helpful staff, nice convenient spot there but the food in particular is divine. Really good quality. Eyeing up other people's plates even though it's was more than satisfactory. Must come back soon to start ticking off all the items on the menu.

This was our first time visit, we had a fabulous lunch. Really enjoyable. The service was great and the menu choices are brilliant. Something for everyone. Everyone in our party throughly enjoyed their food. Definitely will go back.

Another wonderful evening at the Corner House! We had a fabulous meal for our Wedding Anniversary. The staff are so friendly and efficient. The food also is absolutely delicious. We really recommend the Shared Seafood Platter which is really out of this world!

Extremely popular restaurant. Offering a choice of shared platter's and various main meals. Especially popular are the fish dishes. Open for casual drop in lunches. Though evening it is better to book due to popularity ,also as restaurant is quite small. Great choice of spirits and cocktails a small bar seated area for pre drinks or after work social.

Fantastic food, great value for money, service superb and great atmosphere. My only regret is not having found this place sooner! My guest and I started with the vegetarian sharing platter - Impressive to look at and even better to taste! I then had the Seabass, which was perfectly cooked and the accompanying beetroot purée was divine! The service was friendly, attentive and very professional. In fact the whole restaurant had a lovely relaxed friendly feeling to it. Will definitely be returning very soon!

We enjoyed an excellent lunch with 3 generations of family. I can especially recommend the Seafood sharing platter and the Steak open sandwich. Service was sometimes a little slow due to being a staff member short, but the service was very warm and welcoming.

Superb food and drinks. Cocktail list is excellent. Staff very attentive and approachable and a lovely vibe. The steak was amazing and presentation was also on point. Lovely place to eat and relax. We will be back.

What a brilliant restaurant. We have eaten here several times before but last night the food and wine (Romanian Merlot) were exceptional. Great service too. Give it a go - you will not be disappointed.

Cracking Sunday lunch and great service

Came in for a last minute dinner yesterday evening. Food is flawless, cocktails are insane and the staff are always welcoming and attentive. We love coming to this gem in Stroud.

Had a fabulous meal for my friends 60th. I left some table decorations in the afternoon and Marco made the table look lovely. He was very attentive all evening which made for a relaxed and memorable evening. The fish was just the best.

Ever improving restaurant! Food and service are to a high standard and we enjoy the same menu as it works so well. Was upsold a gin and tonic which took the edge off an evening.

I had parmigiana melanzena and a meringue tower afterwards, and a double lemon drink. To start with there was a really nice atmosphere. Bar was a little loud and was in the restraunt near the bar but didn't notice them much. The parmigiana melanzena was really good classic Italian dish and had tomatoes on green still and rocket served with it. Only a little cheese on there so I asked for some more parmeasen. And felt there was slightly too much rocket with it on the side. But the dish was really tasty and the wait wasn't too long.the staff was kind and thoughtful and helpful. The meringue was very carefully laid out with compot or Berry jam. The perfect meringue is chewy in the middle so therefore when the meringuwhat a good was hard eat

Service was a little slow, but we were at peak period and the food was worth the wait. Maybe a touch more bread with the antipasto sharer, but the ingredients and prep were great. Drink selection and quality was high and actually fairly cheap for a restaurant of the standard. Staff were nice and friendly too.

Returning from France or Italy or wish to go, then this is the restaurant to visit. A welcome small menu allowing the chefs to concentrate on quality. Excellent presentation of food and brilliant service. We had a sharing seafood platter. A test of any restaurant is the quality of the calamari - first class, cooked to perfection. A nice selection of lagers\beer on tap with again a small selection of good wines. Middle range cost for high range food, a serious competitor to Cheltenham restaurants. Well done the corner house. An update as we have this week enjoyed dinner for the first time at this restaurant with two friends. What a treat, faultless cuisine and a very good small menu. Presentation of the food is very impressive. Staff are terribly efficient and always helpful. We went on Friday night and my goodness we are not the only people who think this restaurant is at the top of the game. It was very busy clearly the staff were used to this. The food was an hour late, just about ok, nothing special, don't know what I was expecting, it was very busy for the time of evening/ night. Had to wait for the table the couldn't get to it, as so many in the way.
