The best restaurants in South West

We stopped here half way on a long drive to break it up. Very good food and the staff were lovely. Our little boy was wearing a superhero T-shirt and shortly after we got our drinks, along came some colouring in the form of a printed copy of the same superhero. This was lovely attention to detail and the same care was shown when taking his food order and the negotiations over how many scoops of ice-cream he wanted (our kid wanted one, he was asked if he was sure that he didn’t want two, and they settled on one and a half with some sprinkles and sauce!)

We were welcomed with incredibly friendly service to this delightful pub. The menu was extremely enticing, making it very difficult to choose! We decided to start with the scallops and the creamy mushrooms, which were both utterly superb. We both chose to follow with the haunch of venison. Perfectly cooked with delicious gravy and the most sumptuous mash. Sadly we were too full for dessert, but our next trip we will aim to take up that challenge! Definitely will return. Fantastic.

On our way home from st ives and stopped here for breakfast on the way back. This is by far the best breakfast we’ve had all week and then staff/customers are very friendly! Thank you

You are not going to find foams, reductions or food being served on shovels here. What you will find is an extensive menu based on simple, high quality ingredients that have been lovingly prepared. Backed up by well trained staff that are attentive without being overbearing. There is a reason this is the place that springs to mind for any celebratory meal - or indeed any excuse to eat here!

Hice una reserva el lunes para una mesa para dos el viernes por la noche. Llegué bajo la lluvia y fumé un cigarrillo afuera antes de entrar. Dos parejas entraron y se sentaron en mesas para cuatro personas. Cuando entramos nos dijeron que no había mesas disponibles, solo para cuatro personas. Obviamente esto no se aplicaba a las dos parejas sentadas literalmente dos minutos antes. Sugerimos que volvamos una hora después. Gracias por arruinar nuestra velada. Seguro decir que nunca volveremos o comer en este restaurante de nuevo!

Last minute booking, very impressed! Clean and tidy, lovely breakfast with attentive service. Fantastic meal in the evening, reasonably priced. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Unfortunately my roasted pepper salad had everything but the pepper in it. Very disappointing salad even though I finally got some roasted pepper later. The location is absolutely fantastic though.

Food was amazing, staff was lovely, especially maisy who was lovely, other staff was amazing, couldn’t have asked for better service, hopefully there will be a pool table soon

Lovely people, food great and reasonably priced

We’ve been here for a breakfast for 2 days. The food is amazing, the staff are happy and helpful. We met some lovely people, all who took a shine to my dog Sammy the springer.

Luckily got a table early here before a concert. I think it’s advisable to book. Really tasty Persian food. We chose the tapas dishes so we chose a few dishes. Excellent and I would recommend going here. Not formal nice and casual. A great find in Plymouth and close to the university site.

Great food and service, the codfather burger was very tasty. Would definitely come back again.

We went to Torquay for a long weekend and wanted somewhere to celebrate my partners birthday. The legends restaurant is a little jewel hidden up some steps opposite the green ginger pub. A fantastic place, not very big so booking is advised. Lovely tasting food with good service. I would definitely recommend .

Went out with a few mates to the Bournemouth Steak House. Honestly, didn’t expect to be blown away but I was. I got the fillet steak and... wow. Cooked exactly how I asked, super tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Like, you could cut it with a spoon kinda soft. If you’re a steak person (or even if you’re not), this place will probably ruin all other steaks for you. 10/10 would recommend.
