Probably the worse chips I've ever eaten, considering that chips and fish is what you do then getting 50,% right isn't enough, luckily enough tonight I cooked my own fish

Sunday roast at SeaRock: A lovely meal with a view.. we didn't order the 'extra' vegetables offered and found that the portions were more than enough for us. The food wasn't piping hot - but was ok and food tasted lovely. A nice atmosphere and good service during the meal.. a little slow in bringing us the bill and waiting to pay the bill.. I eventually decided to go and pay at the till.

I live around the corner from here, regular for the excellent fish and chip takeaway but not eaten in for a couple of years. The restaurant was always fine but nothing special, still good for fish and chips obviously but the other dishes did not really excite in the few times we went. However, tried with the new menu and it is absolutely superb. Five of us ate and all had something different and everything was practically perfect, well cooked, great flavours, superb friendly service. Portions very generous offering excellent value. Bravo. Fantastic to know there is such a great restaurant on my doorstep. Now the best in Portishead and by rights word will spread and there will be visitors from out of town if there are not already.

Not been here for a few years, but ended up being late tonight from a family do so decided to return. Scampi and chips was a plate full and the medium cod was a large in my opinion. First time but most certainly not the last. Excellent food and the service was really good. Recommend this fish restaurant with a great view of the Marina. Been many times since I wrote the above. Lovely family run restaurant with friendly staff. The waiter went above and beyond, with a nice magic trick for the kids and by paying attention to children's names and then using them. The food was amazing too. Lots of choice beyond fish and chips. Fresh daily specials, burgers, poke bowls, pasta and pork. The monkfish, prawn and chorizo kebabs with a huge salad and chips was delicious.

This was my second visit, this time for an evening meal, and there were five of us. Two had the Sea Bass, and three had medium-sized haddock. We all enjoyed our meals very much. I have marked the service down a star, as we had three different servers, and the young lady got one of the wine drinks wrong, and I think two of the wines may also have been the wrong size. She also did not explain initially that the mushy peas for two people, were in one bowl, not two, so I assumed we were a bowl short. An older lady sorted out the wrong wine issue, but it was only later that I realised the wines were small. We were only charged for the smaller size, though. I would happily return there again.

Today, I visited Sea Rock in Portishead for Sunday lunch, and it was a fantastic experience! I had the roast pork, and my nan had the roast beef. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and paired beautifully with the generous portions of tender meat. The gravy was rich and flavorful, adding the perfect finishing touch to an already amazing meal. I had previously visited and was disappointed with the experience, but they have massively improved. This time, everything was spot on, and we couldn’t fault a single thing (and we are very fussy!). It’s definitely one of the best places to have Sunday lunch in Portishead, and I will definitely return.

We dined outside on a brisk Wednesday afternoon. We order at the takeaway counter and enjoyed the sunshine. My partner got the fish and chips I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich with blue cheese and honey. My sandwich was delicious and had engaging flavors. The fish and chips were a little flavorless and could have used some seasons per my partner. He proceeded to douse his fries in vinegar and a bunch of salt. To be fair, they were on the tables to add yourself.

My experience of the takeaway part of the restaurant was not terrible but not great either. The restaurant was very busy so you think that's a good sign, food and service must be good right? Not really. Told you wait for 7 minutes before we could order and then wait another 10 to 12 minutes (for plain sausages and chips) or if we order straightway it would be 35 minutes!? That didn't make sense but we waited to order. The server was very polite and friendly (bumped the service rating up a notch) and managed to serve people in sequence correctly despite of some people in the queue and others waiting on the seats. The most disappointing thing about the whole experience was the sausages, although thick, were small and not particularly tasty (personal preference most likely I'm sure) and the chips portions were not great either and chips were not that tasty either. The value for money was very poor. £16 for 3 sausages and 2 small chips! We won't be returning that's for sure.

Nestled snugly between the lively Siren's Calling pub and the chic Mokoko café, SeaRock Restaurant in Portishead marina enjoys a prime location that would make even the fussiest seagull green with envy. On a sunny summer’s day, the marina sparkles, the windows of SeaRock fold back to let in the salty breeze, and there’s a cheerful buzz as diners choose between quay-side seating and indoor tables with views of the water. So far, so idyllic. But here’s the rub: SeaRock suffers from something of an identity crisis. Is it a sit-down restaurant? A casual takeaway? It tries to be both, and therein lies the problem. Picture this: you’re sitting down to a nice meal, the sun glinting off the marina, and all of a sudden, you're surrounded by a small crowd of people waiting for their takeout orders. It's a bit like dining in the middle of a busy bus station – not exactly the relaxing waterfront experience you might have envisioned. Now, onto the food. As is customary for any self-respecting Brit reviewing a seaside eatery, I opted for the fish and chips. SeaRock offers this staple in three sizes: small (one bit of fish), medium (one and a half bits), and large (two bits). While this “bit” system might sound bizarre, it’s actually quite practical, offering just the right portion size to match one’s hunger. The fish itself was commendable: crisp, golden batter encasing succulent, flaky white fish. The chips were decent, though perhaps lacking that perfect balance of crunch and fluffiness that makes you dream of your next seaside visit. The real star, however, was the specials board – an array of enticing dishes that suggest SeaRock's kitchen has more than a few culinary tricks up its sleeve. Service was friendly, if a bit harried. The staff did their best to juggle the demands of sit-down diners and takeaway patrons, and a sunny Saturday rush.

We enjoyed an excellent fish and chips lunch. Completely unplanned, but as we walked past SeaRock a departing customer said to us "That was lovely"! We decided to replan our lunch and see if the lady was right. She was! A friendly welcome and similar quality service was to follow. A table looking out on the impressive array of boats in the marina and sunshine! The food arrived, well presented fish and chips at a special lunchtime price. Two glasses of decent wine accompanied the food and we were off. When fish and chips is good, it can't be beaten in the minds of many Brits. This was, indeed, excellent! Highly recommended. We will be back. Plenty of other meals also look very tempting.

Not consistent at all, food can be great if you go at the right time but be prepared to wait over 20mins if you don’t pre order take away. The posset sausage when I first ordered it was amazing, fresh juicy sausage with crispy batter then time after it was a bit stale and the batter was so soft and just fell apart. Chips are all right for the price I guess, but for an establishment who are pushing “posh” fish and chips I would say they are below par. The chicken bites were great when I had them, and the halloumi was meh. Cannot comment on any other dishes at present and may come back and update this review. Staff were friendly though. It was very busy for a lunchtime, as a result of sitting too close to the till, we could overhear conversations following turning people away without reservations, one member of staff seemed very unhappy that people were turning up and asking to be seated. Food wasn't overly complicated but was still a 45 minute wait, there wasn't anything wrong with it but overall the atmosphere was a little negative so I won't be rushing back. EDIT (in response to reply) - I didn't order mussels as a starter, only a main course was ordered, so you are confusing me with another time/place. I know it was 45 minutes, as I was aware of the time to be back at work! As to reactions of staff, I believe you are confusing this with another time - the reactions of the person dealing with walk-ins was far from pleasant so I am surprised you are still as busy as you say! Hopefully this will serve as constructive to remind staff that even behind a counter their conversations and reactions are still visible to those of us in the restaurant!
