Sea Salt in North Somerset

Currently staying in Travelodge and after reading all the high praise reviews, called in for large cod, haddock and chips. Perfectly cooked, very good sized fish, light crispy batter and the chips were like they were triple cooked. Fluffy inside and crisp. I’ve not had a meal this good for years. Lovely owner and staff. Marvellous! 😋👍🏻👍🏻

Very lovely fish and chips and chicken nuggets was amazing the man cooking the food was very friendly and talkative and asked me how my day was and it was very pleasant to talk to someone that was very nice I recommend this place to anyone that is craving some lovely food

I was not impressed, when I witnessed the chips coming out, and put into another compartment, the guy there took a chip out, squeezed it with bare hands, and put back in. Not good hygiene. I won't be going back nor recommend going in. Didn't enjoy the food. I had ordered fish and chips

Outstanding quality fish and chips. Having tried most of the fish bars in the local area, this place really stands out. The food was freshly cooked to order. The fish was perfect with light crispy batter, and the chips were equally good - exceptionally crisp on the outside and light and fluffy inside. Generous portions served by the very friendly helpful proprietor. We honestly have never had better fish and chips, and can understand why Sea Salt has been .

Regularly order from here. Easily the best chippy in the area for me. Absolutely delicious food. The chips and the curry sauce is 10/10, legitimately the best I've ever had. Staff are always very friendly and polite. Highly recommend.

I had haddock and chips, both were extremely good and served in a box. The chips had a nice thin crisp and were the best I've had (exemplary), the haddock was long and chunky and I could not have been happier with its quality. The servings are large, compared my local chippy. Very easy to park near by too. It was a sunny day and while waiting for the meal (not long) I found the chippy hot as the sun shone through the windows, a bit like standing in a greenhouse. Apart from that its a great chippy and the fish n chips were the best I've ever had. A big thank you to the guy cooking and the girl serving A++

Bought fish and chips with mushy peas.the mushy peas were runny peas.had so much water in the small box I couldn't believe it.paying 2 pounds for a small box you wouldn't expect to get so much water in it.i think the place is over rated

Been coming here for some time, used to be brilliant, best fish and chips in Weston. Now has gone done hill fast, fish overcooked so batter is dark brown not golden brown and fish dry. Really disappointed now.. 😞 please please please... don't overcook the fish.. now seeking out different fish bar.

Found this place while out and about. Have tried many fish and chip shops throughout weston and worle and they have always been really good the first visit and then horrible as time has gone on. J read the reviews about sea salt and was really excited to try their food. Been twice now and both times the food has been outstanding. Chips are like the chippy chips we loved when we were younger and the fish was amazing!! Im looking forward to visiting this amazing food outlet many times in the future. Staff are great,shop is clean and food is lovely. Well done to all at sea salt👍👏

This is an absolutely incredible place! I just can’t be happier that I discovered such a cozy and hospitable establishment. From the first step inside, I was surrounded by an atmosphere of warmth and love, as if I was visiting old friends. The menu amazed us with its variety. And, of course, delicious food! The staff is so nice and so lovely there!~ the food, and especially the chips, are amazing and worth the money!~ the cod is so crispy and it melts in your mouth when you take a bite out of it, especially when it’s covered with curry sauce, it’s even more delish!!~ their sausages are no different as well!~ that one of my first favourite fish and chips shop I actually would come back to and eat anytime, and if you want, so can all~ the process are good, and their is a good variety of choices to pick from especially the kids menu!!!~

Just been to Weston super mare and had the pleasure of stumbling upon this fish and chip shop. Best food I’ve had in my 40 years of life . Everything about it from the staff to the food to the customer service to the waiting times was amazing. Highly recommend 10/10

Amazing customer service!! My partner works next door in Lextan and I called them to see if we could order and she will collect when she finishes. They took payment from her next door as she couldn’t leave the salon and delivered it before they closed. The food was delicious, we will definitely be ordering from there again.

The worst chip shop I have ever been to. The chips tasted disgusting like they were cooked days ago and the sausages were burnt . I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Also the prices on their website are false they haven't updated their price list photo . It's shockingly expensive for such bad food.

Great service although the regular fish size can differ hugely. Sometimes its more on the small size. Update...Went in today, at 6pm and very disappointed that no fish available, so had pie and regular chips, was very disappointed at the quantity of chips, the portion size was so small I had to pay extra to get a decent amount of chips! Further update 14/06/24 Ordered fish and chips, chips really greasy and the fish was all batter no fish and the edges of the fish were not edible as really hard. Will need to find a new chippy!!! A real waste of money.

We were very disappointed last night Friday 10th we had cod& chips, they were not very good, batter very dark and hard(over cooked) and very greasy. Not the usual standard.

Shop was easy to find, clean, and the staff were friendly. 2 regular cod, 1 haddock, regular chips, 2 curry sauce, and 1 peas. £30.30 and worth every penny. The fish was large with crisp but not greasy batter, the chips equally crisp but not greasy despite all being cooked to order. The peas and curry sauce were both very tasty with the curry sauce being good and spicy. Will be back next visit to WSM. Thank you for a lovely dinner.

Went in for a small order. The chips were so greasy and burnt & overcooked I've never had such tasteless chips. Cod wasn't much better. This has happened the last couple of times now which Is a shame they used to be really good. Won't be going back.

Not been there for awhile, massive big portions, was able to finish the chips but not all the chips. Only slight down side despite the food being freshly cooked, the fish was a bit greasy, but other than that really enjoyed it.

I had large haddock it was flaky fish and the batter was extremely nice and the curry sauce the best curry sauce I've ever had in Weston. Chips had a crunch most chip shops I been too chips are soggy and white I definitely will return

I eat here regularly and definitely the best fish and chip shop in Weston people go on about papas in the town centre you have to try here without a doubt one of the hidden gems around and cheaper than papas

My family really enjoyed our food tonight My kids and chicken nuggets and cod bites The cod bites were chunky and the nuggets my son wanted more Myself and my wife both had cod and chips it was fantastic I don't know how they get there chips that crispy

Our take away tea was most definitely not the best. The fish was overcooked and the batter, dark brown, instead of golden. The chips had lots of black marks on, and were also overcooked. A very disappointing experience, and one we will not repeat.

More salt than the red sea. May as well check into the hospital for a stroke now.

Very lovely atmosphere, great food cooked from fresh I had a children’s chicken nuggets and chips, the batter was good and crunchy but not too thick or thin and the chips were crispy and crunchy as they should be.

Amazing dining experience, chips were cooked to perfection and the fish was flaky and melted in my mouth! Can’t fault it!

Fish cooked from frozen means batter is burnt and a bizzare chip cooking process which resulted in half of them being inedible. Very odd atmosphere created by young staff who didn't seem to know what they were doing.

Went here for lunch, chips tasted double cooked like they had saved last nights chips, fish was rock hard and battered to death and to top it off had a long black hair in the batter, literally disgusting.

I was really hungry and had no money so I asked if I could have something for free originally they said no but then they had some chips they were gonna throw away so they gave them to me.

A proper fish and chip shop. Good sized portion of cod and the batter was lovely and crisp but not overdone. The chips were likewise a great portion, not soggy and tasty. The food was piping hot when it came out and nice to be served in cardboard boxes rather than those polystyrene containers. Staff were super polite. What a little gem this place is.

I ordered cod and chips, the fryer uses his hands to handle the food and dip the batter etc and I ended up with an upset stomach, whether it was that or the oil, I don't know. Anyway, I contacted them politely and was threatened to have the police called on me and called a liar and that I hadn't even been in there, even though I told them who was working and which customers were in there and I remember what they ordered. Not a nice experience at all.

Best fish and chips in 23 years!! Been living in Canada so no competition in honesty. Chips were just amazing. Batter light and crispy and the cod moist and flakey. My wife had battered sausage and just was in heaven! Thanks guys keep up the great work!

The good...friendly staff & fish freshly cooked & competitive price (£8.80) for fish & chips. Not so good...what on earth has happened? The Sea.Salt had a great reputation & the 2 or 3 times I've used it I would wax lyrical about how great it was. Today OMG. Greasy does not cut it. I called in a the local garage in the way home to see if the wanted a few gallons of oil. Also, the fish may have been freshly cooked (judging on the 10 minute wait but the chips were a mixture of hot, not so hot, crispy in an oily way, and some not cooked through. This would indicate they 'added' fresh chips to old. I stress that's what I think & if I'm wrong is there another explanation? It's the only chippy in the area - please get back on track - you were superb 6 months or so ago.

Used 5 or 6 times in the past and have been pretty good but today's take away was awful! Think the chips were re-fried from lunchtime and they havnt changed the oil for a while as the fish and scampi were a dark brown. Shame as it used to be very good. Doubt I'll be using them again

Used to love the fish n chips from Sea Salt. However the last 2 takeaways have been awful. Chips over cooked, burnt and hard, soggy batter on fish. Unfortunately won't be going again.

Popped in to pick up some chips. Got them home and they were horrible. Almost like they’d had them left over from lunchtime and refried them. They were dark in colour, tough and dry. Would not recommend

I came in today for a cod and chips with some mushy peas and I was blown away the staff were so polite and greeted me the second I came through the door everything was reasonably priced and it was all fresh cooked I waited about 10 minutes bare in mind it was quite busy and it was still all fresh and warm, the lovely gentleman at the till asked me about my day and we talked, such a lovely chippy that’s why me and my husband always come - thank you we will be coming again next week

My friend goes here every Wednesday evening when she has her granddaughter and raves about them. As it was a Saturday lunchtime and my hubby and I were actually shopping in Boots which is in the same complex we decided to share a bag of chips. It wasn’t apparent that it was open as you couldn’t smell that there was a Chippie there. I went and ordered just a regular portion of chips they were cooked especially for me and OMG such a large portion, and so tasty. I’d definitely recommend this establishment to anyone and will definitely return. Plus the young gentleman who served me was very polite.

Had two regular cod and chips, freshly cooked. The batter was delicate, crispy and flavoursome with lovely flakey cod within. The chips were crunchy and satisfying with a light greasy aftertaste (I mean that in a good way.) Perfecto

Excellent, one of the best in wsm, always fresh fish.most important. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks ago we had a meal that was not up to the usual standard, very average,caused, we think by temporary staff, but normal service has been resumed.
