We love everything about this place. Good food. People. Service. Prices.

Friendly service and good food, we booked on recommendation and it was busy, even on a Monday evening.

We wanted to eat here. We first waited at the desk for more than 10 minutes, no one came even though the staff had seen us. So sit down somewhere yourself. We were unkindly asked to sit somewhere else and given a lecture that we were not allowed to sit ourselves. Immediately quit, a bit customer unfriendly

Went to Bournemouth Steak House for supper last night-hasn't changed at all over the years which is a positive-food, service and atmosphere were faultless. Value for money is amazing. I had T bone, Mrs. had Chicken Kiev-both generous helpings. Cannot recommend highly enough. Make sure you have the fried onions-yum.

Food is delicious. Service is great and helpful. We had the porterhouse steak and it was gorgeous!

Thinking of going to Miller & Carter then think again!!!! We were in Bournemouth overnight and found the Steakhouse by chance. What an absolute gift!! One of the best steaks I have had in a long, long time. Wonderfully tasty sauce and the fried onions were to die for. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the prices for quality steak won't be found elsewhere. I wish I lived nearer. I wouldn't be able to stay away!! Well done alone serving quality food at very competitive prices with excellent service.

this a traditional steakhouse that served us extraordinary food. the decor may be a little dated but don't think that the food is. fresh meat counter on show where your steak meat is sliced prior to being cooked. we hope we have an excuse to visit Bournemouth again so we have an excuse to visit.

What a find, doesn’t look much from the outside, but clean and well served inside, and the steaks were cooked to perfection, best we have had. Forget the high street chains, this is far superior!

It's a very cost-effective steakhouse with a good location and average taste. It's perfect if you want to eat a lot of meat. The waiters were very friendly and the drinks were surprisingly not expensive.

Another great visit and more great food. The 20oz T bone was just amazing and the sauses were just perfect, can't rate this place highly enough.

Allways great. They serve the best steaks i have eaten. Staff are wonderful. Dont be put off by the way the exterior looks, once you pass through the front door its a whole different world. If you a steak lover this place is a must.

Feel like I need to write this review to warn others not to make the same mistake as us. Most of the 5* reviews are very obviously fake reviews. The steaks are tasteless, unseasoned, cheap cuts of meat and the place is a dump. Beers were completely flat too. My daughter spilt a glass of juice all over the table and herself and the waiter just stood there watching as we tried to clean it with whatever little tissue was on our table and never offered an extra cloth or any help. Do yourself a favour and avoid this dump at all costs or you will regret it!

Gorgeous hidden gem, I can highly recommend the chicken kiev (I know, at a steakhouse? If you don't fancy steak, do try it!). Lovely 70's style, delicious food - we even stayed for dessert, which was a sweet tooth's dream. If you like steak, or chicken kievs, this is the place to go!

Another visit here and the food was simply amazing again, these guys know how to deliver absolutely amazing food. I've been to steak houses all over the world, and I can honestly say the food here is better than any other I've even eaten at. Top that with amazing service and what I think is a very very reasonable price, you just can't go wrong.

The steak is so delicious! We tried the Diane sauce for the first time and it is full of flavour. Very much enjoyed our meal!

Great steak with a lovely char grilled flavour, cook to perfection ( i like my steak medium, and for once it actually was! Im picky, judgy me not) The waiter was lovely and the place had a chill vibe.

As others have said, ignore the location and decor, the food is excellent. We both had the best steaks and home made sautéed potatoes. Service was good and friendly as well. We were on holiday but would return again.

Don’t be put off by the exterior of this restaurant. The steaks were the best cut and superbly cooked. Desserts were amazing. Side salads let it down a little but over all could not have enjoyed a meal more. Good value as well! Oh and staff were efficient, thoughtful and welcoming… would def come back 😊😎

Can’t fault this fabulous restaurant. Waiting staff are excellent and the steaks are just amazing.

Second visit in as many months and did not disappoint.Mario and his team were excellent again ,service great even though it was busy and food outstanding. If you want great steak please try this restaurant don’t be put off by the exterior.

Amazing steakhouse with a very friendly personnel. Big bonus is their glutenfree food. :) We come quite often here, menu doesn't change though. It's a bit of a shame, because almost all desserts are not glutenfree. However we still enjoy our all-time favourites here, so can still recommend this place. Warm greetings as well from the personnel, they're very charming.

You won’t find a better steak anywhere on the UK south coast. Great atmosphere excellent service. Perfect steak grilled to perfection.

A pleasant find on a day out. Bit old fashioned maybe for the younger generation but suited us fine as we were able to have a conversation without having to shout. And the music was excellent 👌

Wow, another visit and another perfect meal. The food, the service was all absolutely delicious and just so so good. I've eaten steak in any places around the world and this place is up there with the absolute best. In my opinion this is the best place around if you want a good steak.

Went with some friends as none of us had been here for years. Place looks exactly the same as it always has. Visited on a Friday evening, fairly busy. Decor is a bit dated but we don't mind. We shared starters of Avocado/prawns(very small) prawn cocktail, whitebait & scampi. For mains we ordered steak au poivre, tornado rossini & rib-eyes one with a blue cheese sauce & diane sauce. We had some mushrooms, asparagus tips & green beans. All washed down with a couple of bottles of rose. To finish off we shared a banana split(had to) & a cheesecake. Food & service were very good, recommend the Steak House, food is great, decor is a plus

Absolutely superb steak (I had the T-bone but won't say how large!) Staff were attentive and friendly and their idea of making simple food without fuss is one I can get behind.

It is the only restaurant that we go to for a gorgeous juicy steak.

CAN NOT fault actual steaks however - chips/sauté potatoes not so much (don’t look lot different) - side salads with dressing whether you want it or not - bread rolls now changed to small slice of French bread - steak bourgenon very very bland - no taste at all, though meat very nice and tender - king prawns in filo Pastry were deep fried n oozed/dripped with oil - prices on website out of date looking at approx £5 add on for meals on the restaurant menus. P.s deserts were to die for tho lol - Not very happy to let you taste wine before buying - one particular staff member repeatedly smarmy comments to females with over the top ‘compliments’ (thinking it’s what you want to hear) 😜 every female gets same reception EACH time you go.

Visited here in May, and had to come again, very helpful and polite staff, great steak (I had 20oz T bone), and great prices compared to other local "steakhouses"

I came here recently but first I will mention that I've been year many years ago first. I had the mixed grill and a beer, the grill was good apart from the liver (which for me is a strange inclusion) and the other notable thing I remember was that my beer tasted like line cleaner. Good to know they clean their lines but not tasting so great. Other than that I don't remember much more of the experience. I came again recently as I want to support independent businesses and they have been going for a long time which shows that they must be doing something right... Food was mostly good. I had a ribeye and my girlfriend had a fillet which was cooked correctly, the ribeye flavourful and the fillet tender as you'd expect. My girlfriend ordered the sautéed potatoes which were disappointing, they looked exactly the same as the chips (which I had), just with less flavour. The red wine sauce my girlfriend had with her fillet wasn't great either as it was lacking any real flavour. We had honeycomb and Biscoff cheesecakes for dessert finished with fresh cream and these were very good. The house wine is reasonably priced and tasted good, the draft beer is also very reasonable at £4 a pint, however pretty tasteless as of all the beers in world to choose from they have only Carlsberg on draft, there are bottled beers available also if you value flavour in your beer. Service was fine, waiting staff friendly enough but kept taking away our drinks menu when we weren't finished with it, otherwise good. Decor is a bit tired but I quite liked the independent restaurant vibe with open kitchen and alluring dessert cabinet. Looks like a prison from the outside but inside is better. One other thing to mention is that the prices on the website are not the same as the prices in the restaurant. The prices are pretty reasonable, but to lure people in with one price and charge way more when you get there isn't great. I'm sure it's an honest mistake and after reading this they will change the online menu to reflect this.

Look can be so deceptive from the outside, I was thinking, oh dear, I didn’t expect much at all… but wow… what a surprise! I have been to Miller Carter, funky griller with all those swanky decor The cooking is no comparison to this place! If you want steak in Bournemouth, this is the place to be. good Honest cooking no gimmick, no trimming, just plain good food. Steak cooked to perfection friendly service overall looking of the place is quite dated, but who’s care when food is this good? And I quite like it because it made me feel nostalgic like step back in time.

Went here for the first time and weren't disappointed. Friendly welcome and great service and the food,a steak and chicken in a cream sauce were terrific.

The food and service were beyond excellent. Every bite, every morsel was fantastic. I cannot recommend it enough to do the place justice.

I don’t say this lightly – it’s the best steak I’ve had in years. Quality meat, cooked with skill. Everything was cooked to perfection and the price was fantastic for the quality and portion size. We loved the choice and our waiter was happy to explain cuts of meat and levels of fat and flavour. Very knowledgeable and was willing to talk us through was was perfect for us! Job well done Sir - dinner was exceptional. I enjoyed seeing the cuts of meat ready ti choose and the open kitchen. Nothing to hide and cleanliness top notch. The meat was fresh and handled well. Don't shoot me here - Miller & Carter lovers (I was once one, until tonight upon visiting this resturant) save your money, if it's great steak you want - COME HERE! Never again will I go anywhere else for steak! I did however feel like I was in a 70s movie. To me personally it screamed Italian Mob Boss hide out! The desert cabinet, the Peach Melba & Bandanna Split offered menu and it's checked tablecloths with wooden beams oozed old school. I'm not for a second saying this in a derogatory way, I LOVED IT! Pass me a Tia Maria Coffee & let me eves drop on Mafia Wives & Mob Bosses! Hah ha If it's glitz, glam and Insta worthy back drops you want - you'll hate it. If it's superb butchery, perfect seasoning, skilled cooking and meat to die for - you'll love it! This is a must try.

Nicely cooked steak, some green veg in trays and loads of chips. Simple and effective.

Everyone has a different perspective and expectations as to what constitutes a ‘good dining experience’ - this wasn’t for us, if you want 70’s nostalgia then you’ll get in in bucket loads… from the decor to the service - definitely felt like we’d ‘time warped’ everything was just that, 70’s - actually felt like all that was missing was an old coloured Christmas tree in the corner and we’d be right back having family festivities dinner. Nothing truly an issue just underwhelming but credit where credit due, friendly and inviting, and issues resolved instantly. Ultimately & honestly nothing negative and yes, very popular… just a different experience. Good luck and hope the future in these challenging times remains positive for you.

I must say. From the outside of the restaurant you could be fooled into thinking this was not at all a fine place to dine. but don't be mistaken by appearances! The restaurant was very well laid out as were the table i.e. immaculately presented We were met by the waiter who showed us to our table, He took our drinks orders and left us with the menus We chose the steak Dianne and steak au poivre with the usual sauces to accompany them. The food arrived in very good time by a smiling happy waiter We tucked in. And what a feast for the senses it was. We were stuck for words. Our steaks were fantastic, Tender, flavoursome, like butter melting in the mouth. We all agreed this was the finest steak we had ever had and that's saying something due to the fact we are avid dinners of fine cuisine We didnt order desert due to being satisfied with the main course but the waiter brought me awesome cake for my birthday treat What a great experience the whole night was If you love fine steaks and fine food then please give this restaurant a try. You wont be disappointed believe you me Said from the heart and from the tummy :-)

Mario and the team are amazing, and without a recommendation from a member of the team, we would not have known that there was fireworks on every Friday at 10:00. We were recommended here by a friend! Friendly and kind staff. Steaks were nice, although one was cooked well done when it was ordered as medium rare. Our sauces were very watery and inedible. They made us another replacement which was better but still lacklustre. It was a really underwhelming experience as a whole and we left feeling disappointed. This seems contrary to all other reviews so it may have just been a bad day!

Our annual Steakhouse visit didn't disappoint. Usual hospitality from Marios (& team), he made time to come on over & chat. 'Melt in the mouth' steaks, lovely veg, & the Toffee Cheesecake was 'to die for'. Forty years in the business, they must be doing something right?! Will return...

We called in on the off chance and wasn't disappointed had steak dianne and peppered steak the steak just melted in your mouth and the peppered sauce was out standing best ever

Like everyone says, the steak is just divine and always cooked to perfection. My only gripe is the sauce, and I'm not talking peppercorn, just simple ketchup. It has to be Heinz not those cheap chip shop sachets. Please 🙏 Put a bottle of Heinz on the table for the very tasty steak I'm about to eat. It's the small things that make all the difference. Will definitely be back for more, hopefully you'll surprise me 👍 So I went back and it was Heinz sachets. Brilliant. Thank you.

I've eaten at Michelin restaurants with dress codes and waiting lists that don't come close to the meal I had here today. They have a butcher's counter in the restaurant where the meat is prepared to order, so it can't get much more fresh. Anyone who likes steak simply must visit Bournemouth Steak House.

Was only in town for one day. The steak was was up there with the best I’ve had. Lovely place. Will definitely go again when in town.

Always go there with friends. Great service 👍🏻Hidden gym in Bournemouth. Steak is perfect, check their menu they have a variety of delicious selections. Trust me, they have the best sauces and salad is always fresh and tasty. Always clean and ready for service even in the busiest days. Don’t forget to try their cheesecakes they always have different flavours so I don’t get bored and try something new every time I visit which makes my experience more enjoyable.

Retro feel which I love, fabulous steaks and great service. Classic prawn cocktail was fantastic.

If you're looking for Michelin like dining experience, this is definitely not the place. Yet, I gave this place a five star for the value for money, locality, and the super friendly staff. The food are incredibly reasonably priced given how the general environment has been, I paid 40 pounds for those three steaks (steak trio on the menu) and it is perfectly enough for two to share if not too much. I would say this is very well priced even before the inflation and everything. The food quality is alright, not the best I've had but far from anything to the bad spectrum. The steaks were all rightly grilled and remained juicy. The flavour was good enough and might work best with a bit of salt, but they offer four types of mustard so you will find your choice. People are saying it is a family run place, I cannot confirm that, but they do give a very warm neighborhood/family vibe in the place. They are very caring and service are definitely on point. Chatty staff to give you that welcoming feeling. This is a very distinct old fashioned steakhouse that is getting increasingly rare and I recommend it definitely for the dining experience, if I'm rating it by food quality only, it would most likely be a four star.
