Romanzo Greek Taverna in Bournemouth

In my opinion, the best Greek restaurant on the South Coast. Friendly, family run, brilliant food.

Our first visit to this wonderful restaurant and it will not be our last. The staff were attentive and warm. The food was just excellent. Family run and family atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone looking for that special occasion.

Lovely lovely evg. Felt like we were back in Greece with the Bouzouki music playing as we arrived. Food was excellent. Will definitely return, when we are next in Bournemouth.

Food was nice enough, but the place is generally not Cypriot/Greek enough.

My lunch was so full of flavour, and served by friendly people just like it is always when I go. I would like to be able to enjoy a lunch more often at Romanzo in Westbourne, however it is not on my doorstep

Lovely family traditional Greek restaurant. We chose off the 3 course menu. The food was all very tasty and hot. £27 each so great price.

The starters were very average, which is unusual. The main courses were very good. The main issue was the cost of a glass of lemonade; £3.50 for a small glass (maximum of a third of a pint)! A large Keo beer cost £7.50 and a large house red wine was £7.95, so how do they arrive at the price for the soft drink?

Delicious. Only place I can remember in UK that has real home made dolmades, with leaves from their vine, not tinned ones … except ones we made at home using leaves from our vine.

Lovely little restaurant, the lamb knuckle is highly recommended and a great service .

I took my family here for my son's 18th on a Monday Evening. I was concerned that being a Monday, the main chef would have be having a day off. When I booked they confirmed he never has a day off! On arrival the restaurant was very full - surprising given it was a Monday but understand the restaurant is all always busy. I took this to be a good sign and was not disappointed. We had the fixed price menu and the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. Staff were very friendly and service was good despite of it being busy. The Baclava which, like everything else, was home made and was divine. Talking to the chef after the meal, he is the owner and confirmed he does work every day and closes the restaurant when he takes the occasional holiday. This restaurant is a gem.

We have lived in the area for years & heard about this restaurant but today we had lunch there celebrating our wedding anniversary with a relative. We had a very tasty & excellent lunch- roast pork, one of their specials. We all agreed it was an excellent meal in pleasing surroundings & great staff. We were made most welcome & are looking forward to our return visit.

Excellent family run restaurant. Traditional romantic atmosphere. Was packed to the brim, always a good sign but service was still excellent and food was amazing. Highly recommend. Waitresses work so hard and are lovely.

Great food and a friendly atmosphere.

This restaurant we have been to before on recent visits to Bournemouth, we have never been disappointed and this visit was the same. My wife had chicken souvlaki and I had Kleftico. We followed that with baklava and banana orange and caramel dessert. Could not fault any of the visit, would recommend anyone who lives locally or visiting Bournemouth to try Romanza.

This time of year (August), you really need to book in advance. A lot were turned away shortly after we arrived at 18.30 The food here, as others have said, is just like being on one of the Greek islands. Plus it's family run by a family that is both warm and welcoming with a keen menu to satisfy. We travel 40 miles to eat here and unfortunately can only make it once a year, but it's always well worth it.

We cannot believe we have never been to this place before Friday night! The food was absolutely amazing we had some starters and I had the special which was slow cooked chicken, it was so tasty full of flavour and one of the best meals out we have had in a long long time. The staff were so lovely, happy, friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble at all and clearly love what they do. We cannot wait to come back here again to try more of the menu. Not to be missed!

Great authentic Cypriot food with really friendly staff. A real homey feel here. We had a Saturday lunch here. We will definitely be back for a dinner. The mezze platter for two is great and the cheesecake is amazing.

I went on a Wednesday evening with my son and glad that we booked an hour and a half in advance as it was full upon arrival. Managed by a Cypriot family who were very friendly. I had the Arne Tava and my son the Stifado both toasted good and were authentic . We had calamari as starter which tasted good and we have some excellent tzatziki. A very cosy and friendly restaurant in the heart of Westbourne. Including 2 beers and a large glass of wine came to just under £50 so good value for money

A great dining experience which felt typically Greek in the best possible way. A very warm welcome and wonderful service combined with amazing food made for a perfect evening. So good we had to return the next evening to be certain!

This gem in Westbourne never ceases to amaze Food is outstanding and staff are so friendly. You do need to book a good few weeks in advance as it gets booked up very quickly with locals which in itself is high testament to the quality of food We come here every time we’re in Westbourne which is a few times each year

Very authentic Greek restaurant.

Maybe the chef had an off day. Although friendly service the Chicken kebabs were dry and overcooked. Stifado had no flavour. We were offered alternative but it was late. We paid and left. Disappointed.

Lovely meal on special menu with 3 friends, 3 of us had the mezze. So much food and delicious we couldn't eat a dessert, so we had coffee instead. Very friendly staff. Dietary issues taken into account too.

This place always has a personal touch to it. It's cosy with fab service. The food is amazing and very generous!

The greek could do with a wider menu. The roast potatoes I had were nothing to write home about, but everything else was excellent. Deserts way to expensive, but I am finding that everywhere to be fair.

Lovely atmosphere, great music, friendly and and attentive staff. We were however a little disappointed with the food. The main courses were tasty but the Greek salad had only two olives and two pieces of feta cheese. The baklava dessert was delicious but such a small portion, we didn't feel it was value for money. Drinks were also on the expensive side

Visited for the first time on Saturday with my partner. The restaurant was pretty full and buzzy!!! Great atmosphere 👍🏻 Food was lovely. My main course was amazing, really enjoyed that. Authentic greek Cypriot dishes in a family run restaurant that has been busy for 5 decades. Famous dishes on the menu if you want to find out how they should be done. Lamb is a feature but there are options including vegan. Customers leave happy and content. Wine options seem limited and could do with a rethink. Very easy to get to as in the Westbourne high street which is overwhelmed with bus routes. Parking all around some of which is free.

Lovely food, meze was plentiful, good value. You need to leave tips in cash which we didn't know and we didn't have cash on us. Will know for next time

Been coming here for over 30 years. Still run by the same family who always welcome you like old friends. The service is friendly, the menu is amazing the atmosphere is great.

What an amazing restaurant. We stayed in Westbourne for the weekend and booked this based on the review and we werent disappointed. A really friendly and warm experience and the food was amazing. Glad we booked as it was busy, but that didnt cause a problem with ordering and each course arrived without any delay, served by really friendly waitresses. I would highly recommend this restaurant

We visit this restaurant every time we come to Bournemouth our 4th visit the staff are always friendly and welcoming every time . Being Cypriot myself this food is spot on real traditional and authentic as can be we always have the meze a total of 25 small greek dishes absolutely heaven love it !!!! The restaurant is an authentic Greek feel to it all is missing is the sun n sea many thanks yet again see u all soon definitely a big recommendation x Kosta n Philip

Absolutely fabulous restaurant. Food amazing. Soula and the rest of the staff are just perfect. A proper Greek evening! Its only tiny so you must reserve a table so as not to be dissapointed. Portions are generous make sure you have an empty tummy before you go!! The mezze is superb. Have fun and enjoy!!

First time we’ve visited, but hopefully won’t be our last. A lovely authentic restaurant with excellent food and great service. If you like a more traditional dining experience I would definitely recommend.

Party of 10, all complimented the food and atmosphere. Staff were friendly, attentive and had arranged a little birthday surprise for my daughter. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend!

This is a great restaurant to visit the staff our fantastic so nice and helpful. I had the Moussaka and boy was that good. Best to book as very busy. There was a couple of walk ins and they found them a table even though they was busy. I would say to anyone give it a try bet your love it. Big thank you to them all. Will go back soon.

This is not the first visit to Romanzo, this is because it's a lovely restaurant. It always reminds us of our holidays to Greece..a family restaurant feel. Kind and friendly. And the food it exactly what you expect. Superb and fully recommended.

A wonderful meal, full of flavour, a decent portion at reasonable price. AND fabulous service, will be back.

Cyprus revisited ! A delightfully old-fashioned family run restaurant, where the warm greeting from the lady (daughter?) on entry to the lovely food served was an absolute stunner and both my business client (who is a regular here) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I will happily return when I am next in the area.

Delicious home cooked food served by friendly attentive owners. The roast lamb was amazing and the pancakes my friend and I had for dessert were so delicious we ordered more! The fact that it’s always so busy speaks for itself really.

This was like going to a little Greek taverna in Cyprus, the food was authentic, with the tastes of home. A family run business which has served this community for over 35 years. Being Greek I can honestly say it was a pleasure to finally eat here, I have finally found my Greek paradise in Bournemouth. No fancy plates with minuscule amounts, a plate that my mum would serve, fully of flavour and love.

Good quality home made meals, very welcoming. Try the excellent meatballs or the moussaka.

This was the first time I've been to Romanzo but definitely won't be the last. Had a Greek meze which was absolutely delicious. Too much to eat it all sadly but would highly recommend.

Very warm and friendly family run business

Unfortunately seems to have gone downhill recently, food was overcooked and bland,on previous visits was much better, server seem like she did not want to be there.

1st time of visiting this place and wow wish I had been sooner the food was amazing from start to finish and the atmosphere was also very good a tad busy so waited quite a while in between courses but was well and truly worth the wait and will def return there again soon. Keep up the good work.

Got seated straight away and didn't have to wait long to place our orders, even though the two waitresses were busy, food came promptly and it was absolutely cooked to perfection, I had a starter and a main and just couldn't manage a dessert, first class restaurant, my first time there but it certainly won't be my last, 100% satisfied

No booking online.. do not answer the phone to book.. turned up in person and was told very rudely No.. I'm guessing only catering to the locals!?.

It was one of the first chilly nights in October as we approached Romanzo it looked inviting “have you booked” no i said pointing to a table for four I said no it’s not fair I’ll Take the one by the window for two. The service over the years i have dined here is impeccable and can honestly say so friendly professional and just lovely. I can’t tell you how I think this is really a wonderful attribute nothing is too much trouble. My partner saw omelette on the outside menu “oh that’s the lunchtime mama said” but if you want we make it for you. He said it was one of the best omelettes he has had. It came with chunky chips very good. I chose the humus which comes with warm bread served by the daughter who I have seen over the years and she never changes always smiling and just wants you to have a good meal and time. For mains I had a Greek salad replacing the feta with olives it was lovely and plenty of it. I would recommend booking as deservedly so it gets busy. This is a family professionally run Greek restaurant with lovely tables and kept the quaintness of being on Greece. We are heading back to London but can’t wait to return to Romanzo.

Very friendly staff and a great meal that was just like being in Greece

Lovely atmosphere with greek traditional music which I loved. Good service but disappointed with the food unfortunately. Might be because I've had big expectations looking at the the high ratings. The owners look like lovely people though but for the prices given they could be offering much more rich and flavoursome food.

Lovely Greek taverna, the moussaka is to die for. I have never tasted anything so good before.

Lovely meal in friendly restaurant

First visit here and loved every thing about it. Attentive servers food was lovely. Don't normally eat sweet but Mama's baklava and ice-cream to share was great.

Hadn't been there for years as had moved away. Drove 90 miles to meet a family relative and it was worth the drive! It is not only fantastic food, authentic and delicious but the service is great, the atmosphere is intimate and friendly too, we had a perfect evening. Thank you very much all the staff at Romanzos!

Just the best moussaka I have had in years. If you want authentic cuisine this is the place to come. Full of atmosphere and lovely family run restaurant that has been in Westbourne for over 30 years.

We come on holiday every year down to Bournemouth and every year Romanzo ( Mama's ) is a must. Nothing flashy just good honest home made food in a super atmosphere and great value. So friendly and relaxed. In fact this was our second visit this week.

Food and service is great. Just like the staff who are warm and friendly.

We were blown away by both the food, service and ambience at Romanzo tonight. Traditional and authentic and obviously cooked and served with pride. It took us back to the many Greek tavernas we ate at when we lived in Greece. We really cannot recommend Romanzo enough. We wished we lived closer because we would go every month. In fact even though its a 2 hour drive we will still come back. Thank you so much to everyone at Romanzo for a magical night.

Just the best Greek food along with a lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. A extensive menu, either a la carte or a set menu with either two or three courses. All reasonably priced too! Great service from the two ladies running front of house, they didn’t stop and so cheerful and welcoming. The quality of the food was quite simply exceptional. You could have been transported to a Greek Taverna on one of the islands. Thank you to chef and the kitchen team for a superb meal. Simply the best Greek food!
