Romanzo Greek Taverna in Bournemouth

Visited for the first time on Saturday with my partner. The restaurant was pretty full and buzzy!!! Great atmosphere 👍🏻 Food was lovely. My main course was amazing, really enjoyed that. Excellent value for money!!!! Service good and pleasant. Definitely consider to going back there soon. Thank you 🙏🏻

Authentic greek Cypriot dishes in a family run restaurant that has been busy for 5 decades. Famous dishes on the menu if you want to find out how they should be done. Lamb is a feature but there are options including vegan. Customers leave happy and content. Wine options seem limited and could do with a rethink. Very easy to get to as in the Westbourne high street which is overwhelmed with bus routes. Parking all around some of which is free.

Lovely food, meze was plentiful, good value. You need to leave tips in cash which we didn't know and we didn't have cash on us. Will know for next time

Been coming here for over 30 years. Still run by the same family who always welcome you like old friends. The service is friendly, the menu is amazing the atmosphere is great.

What an amazing restaurant. We stayed in Westbourne for the weekend and booked this based on the review and we werent disappointed. A really friendly and warm experience and the food was amazing. Glad we booked as it was busy, but that didnt cause a problem with ordering and each course arrived without any delay, served by really friendly waitresses. I would highly recommend this restaurant

We visit this restaurant every time we come to Bournemouth our 4th visit the staff are always friendly and welcoming every time . Being Cypriot myself this food is spot on real traditional and authentic as can be we always have the meze a total of 25 small greek dishes absolutely heaven love it !!!! The restaurant is an authentic Greek feel to it all is missing is the sun n sea many thanks yet again see u all soon definitely a big recommendation x Kosta n Philip

Absolutely fabulous restaurant. Food amazing. Soula and the rest of the staff are just perfect. A proper Greek evening! Its only tiny so you must reserve a table so as not to be dissapointed. Portions are generous make sure you have an empty tummy before you go!! The mezze is superb. Have fun and enjoy!!

First time we’ve visited, but hopefully won’t be our last. A lovely authentic restaurant with excellent food and great service. If you like a more traditional dining experience I would definitely recommend.

Party of 10, all complimented the food and atmosphere. Staff were friendly, attentive and had arranged a little birthday surprise for my daughter. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend!

This is a great restaurant to visit the staff our fantastic so nice and helpful. I had the Moussaka and boy was that good. Best to book as very busy. There was a couple of walk ins and they found them a table even though they was busy. I would say to anyone give it a try bet your love it. Big thank you to them all. Will go back soon.

This is not the first visit to Romanzo, this is because it's a lovely restaurant. It always reminds us of our holidays to Greece..a family restaurant feel. Kind and friendly. And the food it exactly what you expect. Superb and fully recommended.

A wonderful meal, full of flavour, a decent portion at reasonable price. AND fabulous service, will be back.

Cyprus revisited ! A delightfully old-fashioned family run restaurant, where the warm greeting from the lady (daughter?) on entry to the lovely food served was an absolute stunner and both my business client (who is a regular here) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I will happily return when I am next in the area.

Delicious home cooked food served by friendly attentive owners. The roast lamb was amazing and the pancakes my friend and I had for dessert were so delicious we ordered more! The fact that it’s always so busy speaks for itself really.

This was like going to a little Greek taverna in Cyprus, the food was authentic, with the tastes of home. A family run business which has served this community for over 35 years. Being Greek I can honestly say it was a pleasure to finally eat here, I have finally found my Greek paradise in Bournemouth. No fancy plates with minuscule amounts, a plate that my mum would serve, fully of flavour and love.

Good quality home made meals, very welcoming. Try the excellent meatballs or the moussaka.

This was the first time I've been to Romanzo but definitely won't be the last. Had a Greek meze which was absolutely delicious. Too much to eat it all sadly but would highly recommend.

This place always has a personal touch to it. It's cosy with fab service. The food is amazing and very generous!

Very warm and friendly family run business

Unfortunately seems to have gone downhill recently, food was overcooked and bland,on previous visits was much better, server seem like she did not want to be there.

1st time of visiting this place and wow wish I had been sooner the food was amazing from start to finish and the atmosphere was also very good a tad busy so waited quite a while in between courses but was well and truly worth the wait and will def return there again soon. Keep up the good work.

Got seated straight away and didn't have to wait long to place our orders, even though the two waitresses were busy, food came promptly and it was absolutely cooked to perfection, I had a starter and a main and just couldn't manage a dessert, first class restaurant, my first time there but it certainly won't be my last, 100% satisfied

No booking online.. do not answer the phone to book.. turned up in person and was told very rudely No.. I'm guessing only catering to the locals!?.

It was one of the first chilly nights in October as we approached Romanzo it looked inviting “have you booked” no i said pointing to a table for four I said no it’s not fair I’ll Take the one by the window for two. The service over the years i have dined here is impeccable and can honestly say so friendly professional and just lovely. I can’t tell you how I think this is really a wonderful attribute nothing is too much trouble. My partner saw omelette on the outside menu “oh that’s the lunchtime mama said” but if you want we make it for you. He said it was one of the best omelettes he has had. It came with chunky chips very good. I chose the humus which comes with warm bread served by the daughter who I have seen over the years and she never changes always smiling and just wants you to have a good meal and time. For mains I had a Greek salad replacing the feta with olives it was lovely and plenty of it. I would recommend booking as deservedly so it gets busy. This is a family professionally run Greek restaurant with lovely tables and kept the quaintness of being on Greece. We are heading back to London but can’t wait to return to Romanzo.

Very friendly staff and a great meal that was just like being in Greece

Lovely atmosphere with greek traditional music which I loved. Good service but disappointed with the food unfortunately. Might be because I've had big expectations looking at the the high ratings. The owners look like lovely people though but for the prices given they could be offering much more rich and flavoursome food.

Lovely Greek taverna, the moussaka is to die for. I have never tasted anything so good before.

Lovely meal in friendly restaurant

First visit here and loved every thing about it. Attentive servers food was lovely. Don't normally eat sweet but Mama's baklava and ice-cream to share was great.

Hadn't been there for years as had moved away. Drove 90 miles to meet a family relative and it was worth the drive! It is not only fantastic food, authentic and delicious but the service is great, the atmosphere is intimate and friendly too, we had a perfect evening. Thank you very much all the staff at Romanzos!

We come on holiday every year down to Bournemouth and every year Romanzo ( Mama's ) is a must. Nothing flashy just good honest home made food in a super atmosphere and great value. So friendly and relaxed. In fact this was our second visit this week.

A delightful meal. The family passion runs through Romanzo through and through. The food is delicious and honest. The staff make the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. We'll definitely be back, thank you so much!

We were blown away by both the food, service and ambience at Romanzo tonight. Traditional and authentic and obviously cooked and served with pride. It took us back to the many Greek tavernas we ate at when we lived in Greece. We really cannot recommend Romanzo enough. We wished we lived closer because we would go every month. In fact even though its a 2 hour drive we will still come back. Thank you so much to everyone at Romanzo for a magical night.

Just the best Greek food along with a lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. A extensive menu, either a la carte or a set menu with either two or three courses. All reasonably priced too! Great service from the two ladies running front of house, they didn’t stop and so cheerful and welcoming. The quality of the food was quite simply exceptional. You could have been transported to a Greek Taverna on one of the islands. Thank you to chef and the kitchen team for a superb meal. Simply the best Greek food!

Having stumbled across this place a couple of years ago it was time to return. This time we were 4 and on a Saturday evening. An early table, but by the time we left the place was full, with what seemed like regulars and visitors alike. Always a good sign when locals keep coming back. 3 courses for all 4 of us included, some fine lamb dishes and the homemade desserts (make sure you keep room for those). The restaurant is old school, concentrating on the food and you won’t be let down. It is on our ‘go to’ list for whenever we are down Bournemouth way and will continue to do so. If you can get in - then go - you’ll enjoy it…

Very authentic Greek cuisine. Good selection of food. Reminded us of our recent holiday in Corfu. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit when in Westbourne, Dorset. 10/10.

We ended up at Romanza unexpectedly having walked past it. We were immediately greeted walmly despite not having a booking. Straight away we felt comfortable and the atmosphere was so nice. You could tell it was a popular place as it was full but you didn't feel on top of one another. The staff were so personable and it made the dining experience exceptional. The food was wonderful, I opted for the fish platter and it was so delicious. The house white wine accompanied the meal well. Would absolutely recommend this place. We live some distance away but if we didn't we'd sure be frequent visitors. Excellent spot.

This is a little jewel and we like to come here for special occasions. It is family run by a Cypriot family and they take great pride in their food and offer a very authentic experience. All good is cooked from scratch and we are always impressed with its quality.

Delicious, authentic proper homemade food. Highly recommend Mama's divine baklava, absolutely delicious! 🩷 The food is so good here, really cosy, friendly, fanily-run restaurant. The service is excellent too. We love this place! We spent around £30 for three courses, amazing value for money.

A wonderful family run restaurant with wonderful staff who were courteous and welcoming . The food quality was superb with a real depth of authentic taste. The pudding was to die for and I would personally recommend the Cheesecake. On first experience I thought looks a bit fete but I could not of been more wrong. Thankyou for a wonderful dining experience with superb service .

Absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏 I had garlic prawns, Kalamari tzatziki pitta bread, amazing service from a lovely lady with great big smile and big brown eyes. Very friendly and happy to help about the menu. Return is a must! If you in Bournemouth don’t miss this place. Is little but amazing!

The food was excellent and so was the wine. Our experience was let down by a Scottish waitress who was rude and sarcastic.

A wonderful little restaurant in Westbourne. Very welcoming with excellent food. Greek/Cypriot food to perfection and you must pace the evening as plates are large. Only problem you will probably have to book, but do so, it is an experience not to be missed.

Had the lamb Kleftiko dish last night it was the worst Kleftiko I’ve ever experienced in my life It was horrid I did mention in the restaurant to the staff in a polite manner The proprietor apologised and insisted I had a desert on the house I reluctantly accepted the offer and at the end of the evening I was charged top dollar for the whole lot ! I’m certain the Kleftiko was purchased from a dog meat supplier When I paid the bill the proprietor said “ I’ve not charged for the desert and your drinks , two beers as a good Will gesture “ ! I paid the bill without checking and was charged for everything !

Lovely Greek taverna style restaurant... Really popular, so glad that we booked. The restaurant has been there for over 30 years (the owner was telling us). Food was lovely.. Made me feel like I was back in Cyprus! Would highly recommend!

What a hidden gem . I had lunch with friends and thought the Moussaka and Tiramisu was the best ive tasted . I thought the corkage was a little high at £6.50 but couldnt fault the food or service .

This place was recommended to us by locals for the food and the atmosphere, and we had a fantastic meal. The moussaka and souvlaki were both excellent, as were the desserts. Would happily eat here again next time we're on holiday in the area. There's a large car park just a couple of minutes' walk away.

The best Greek food I’ve tasted outside Greece for sure! We opted for the 2 courses for £21 special, Greek meatballs and garlic mushrooms to start. Then chicken souvlaki with rice, Greek salad and tzatziki. And stifado which was the most tender beef I’ve ever tasted in beautiful rich flavoured sauce. The roast potatoes are out of this world! Amazing service, gorgeous food. What more could you want?

What a find this was. Not in the centre but worth the 40 min walk. Service friendly and so welcoming - wife has a garlic intolerance but that wasn’t an issue. Her vegetarian moussaka was so full of flavour and the Greek salad was ideal....

A real traditional Greek restaurant x greeted warmly and the service excellent. We had starter and mains but couldn't manage desserts as the meals were quite substantial and very authentic. Plenty of choices and we all enjoyed our choices. Food was so delicious we forgot to take photos

Have been to the restaurant 3 times and disappointed on this occasion because they put gravy on my moussaka which they didn’t do before. Apart from that it as very nice. In future will have something else as the gravy ruined it

On a busy Saturday night, we celebrated a family birthday in the cosy , very authentic restaurant of Romanza and had a lovely time . The food, service, and ambience were fabulous, we had a great time. We all shared meze starters and dolmades which...

First time we have been there for lunch, still had excellent food, wonderful service and excellent value for money. Probably the only full restaurant in Poole at lunchtime.

This is a lovely little Greek restaurant. The food was delicious and authentic. The staff were patient and attentive. I would definitely recommend advanced booking because we went on a Tuesday evening at 6 30 and it was really busy. The vegetarian options were brilliant and so flavoursome. We will definitely return and would thoroughly recommend Romanzo.

This is our go-to whenever we're in Bournemouth and want somewhere to eat out. It has a delightful atmosphere as a family-run Greek restaurant, the food is delicious, and the service is warm-hearted and generous. Oh - and the prices make it all good value. It's pretty much all home-cooked food which leaves you feeling well-fed and satisfied without feeling that you need to reach for the Gaviscon!
