Perfect. Thank you for a wonderful lunch today. Everything was amazing. My partner is Persian and says Toot is the best Iranian food we’ve had anywhere in Europe. She’s right. Genuine and done with great care and attention to detail. They are also masters with their seasoning! We will return very soon.

Established Persian restaurant with brightly coloured interior and mountains of delicious food. We had starters and mains which was an error - there was so much to eat. Thankfully the splendid saffron rice, braised beef and lamb meatballs were repackaged in takeout cartons for later consumption. You won’t leave hungry. We attended on a quiet Monday evening but I’m assured the place can get very busy when the weather outside plays ball.

I had the pleasure of dining at Toot, and it was an incredible experience. They serve the best koobideh kebab I’ve ever had—better than any I’ve tried even in London! The flavors were rich, and the quality of the food was outstanding. If you’re a fan of Persian cuisine or simply looking to try something new, I highly recommend visiting Toot. Their menu is full of authentic Persian dishes, and every bite is a delight. Don’t miss the chance to experience this amazing restaurant!

We arrived early for our 8pm booking but this was no problem. We’re seated straight away with a friendly smile. The menu was very varied and we were not sure what to order. Drinks first however and we chose a pommy martini. A pomegranate based cocktail which started us off well. The owner came over to advise and pointed us towards the ’Kings Feast’, a selection of starters. mains, Persian tea and Baklava for £35 a head. Having not been before we decided to go with this option so we could try lots of different dishes. We were not disappointed. Everything that came to us was really tasty and you could tell it had been home-cooked and made with love. The lamb meatballs were sensational. I have no idea how they packed soo much flavour into them. The aubergine and yoghurt dip was also incredibly moreish. Then came the rice for either the mains with a pat of butter to add in with sumac, a traditional way to eat it. The grilled meat platter that arrived was bursting with different meats and flavours. The chicken and minced lamb kebab again packed soo much flavour. All the meat was juicy and tender. We both struggled to stop eating. The Persian tea was delicious with and without sugar and the clearly homemade Baklava was not dripping in syrup so you could taste the nuts inside. Everything was fine with a smoke and nothing was too much trouble. If you haven’t been here yet or are visiting Plymouth, make this a place to try.

Wow! Just waddled home from Toot after trying their £35 King’s Feast. I can’t pick a favourite dish, and it’s with a fraction of ‘only good’ that puts one of the mezza to last place amongst the many dishes in this 3 course set menu. The lamb meatballs, with a rich gravy and hints of cinnamon, are the epitome of Persian cuisine, but every dish was different enough from its culinary neighbours to remind you that you are in a completely different place. Warm, authentic welcomes and great service make this small shop front in Plymouth somewhere you need to visit more than once.

This is a great restaurant that serves Persian cuisine, I was hesitant, however my hunger won out. It is a relatively small restaurant with tables lined up end to end in rows, however as it was not particularly busy, this layout did not bother me. I was served by a lovely young lady called Molly rose who provided exceptional customer service to all the customers including myself. I did not have to wait long to be served, at any point in my stay. As this was my first time in a Persian restaurant, Molly was able to recommend a lovely dish which was cooked to perfection. Molly rose always wore a smile on her face, which made communication very easy and enjoyable.

Tried for first time Persian food and had a great experience! Service: The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, making sure we felt comfortable throughout our meal. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. Each dish was served with care, and the service was prompt yet never rushed. It’s clear that they take pride in ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. I had requested a small candle to celebrate a colleague's birthday, and our server was incredibly attentive and thoughtful. Not only did they arrange the candle, but they also generously offered each of us a baklava to enjoy at the end of our meal. It was such a kind gesture—thank you for making our experience even more special! Food: The food was simply outstanding. We started with some traditional appetiser yogurt with cucumber and mint, fried aubergines and freshly baked Persian bread, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. For the main course, we tried the mixed grilled, ghormeh sabzi, which were prepared to perfection. The kewere tender and juicy, with just the right balance of spices, and the ghormeh sabzi was fragrant, hearty, and delicious. The portions were generous, and each dish showcased the authentic flavors of Persian cuisine. We ended the meal with a traditional baklava which was the perfect way to finish. Ambiance: The restaurant’s atmosphere was beautifully set. The blend of modern design with traditional Persian elements created a cozy and upscale vibe. Overall, Toot, offers a top-tier dining experience. The combination of excellent service, outstanding food, and a delightful ambiance makes this restaurant a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Persian meal. Highly recommended!

This is a great place for a kebab. Both the chicken and the lamb were spiced really well, the rice they give with it is amazing as well. Would like lettuce given with it, but appreciate that others may feel differently. Chicken shish and lamb hummus kavurma were particular highlights. Service was really quick, especially with the starters and desserts - would ask that the music be turned up slightly in the restaurant when the restaurant is less busy (we went on a Saturday lunchtime). Should be noted that there is a £35 offer for a full three courses.

Overall, I enjoyed my time at Toot. The atmosphere was lovely and very inviting. We ordered the £35 deal which included a starter, selection of meats and rice and tea with baklava, plus ordered a side of calamari. Honestly, I was not blown away by the food. I was rather confused by the portion size of the calamari, priced at around £7 for 4 nugget sized pieces which was disappointing. The tea and baklava were a wonderful touch, I appreciated the attention to detail. I’d consider the gem of a setting as the redeeming quality, I would recommend for an authentic Persian experience!

Starters were good, tasty and nicely presented, everything very fresh. I even enjoyed the dolmades, which normally leave me cold but these were the real deal. The revelation was the sharing main, which I can best describe as a tray-full of excellent mixed kebab grill direct from somewhere in heaven, with a mountain of delicate, fluffy, scented rice. The quality of the meats was as amazing as the quantity, not a shred of chewiness on any of them, cooked to perfection, and the mini lamb chops can only be described as divine (and we eat a lot of lamb so we know when we're getting the best cuts). I don't think I've eaten that much meat in 30-something years, and we were both stuffed, but didn't leave a thing. After that, we were somehow persuaded to try a rice pudding and it was unlike any rice pudding I have had in the UK - more like a sweet rice soup, with waves of flavour from cardamom and cinnamon at the front of the tongue to a delicious aftertaste of rosewater in the throat. Fantastic stuff. Oh and all gluten free!

TOOT. Mayflower Street, Plymouth. What a wonderful experience. I got to go with friends Emily and Vikki, which was only fair considering Emily brought it to my attention a few months ago, whilst Jay Rayner has already been and written a fabulous review. He mentions the piles of rice where you add butter to the top of it and then sprinkle sumac liberally. He also mentions the ‘fields of meat’. The menu already looks fantastic and then you spot the offer where they pick your dishes for you and offer a banquet for the princely sum of £35 per person. THIS IS A FREAKING BARGAIN. We received 6 starters and 6 mains, followed by cardamom tea (delicious) and baklava. It was divine. The starters were - clockwise from bottom left - falafel, tabbouleh, calamari, chicken schwarma (I think), smoked aubergine hummus, and cinnamon drenched 😍👌🏼meatballs. Dear dog, this was fricking magnificent. Basically the cuisine here is Persian and you realise how much of it has become part of our weekly, perhaps daily, choice. The hostess is glamorous, warm and charming. The food is brought out quickly. The decor is bright and funky. We were all SO HAPPY with everything. Our bellies were full. No more food was required this day. Cardamom tea is my new favourite thing. I cannot recommend it highly enough. GO!!

We had to go off to get cash from a Building Society in Armada Way before we started. We were pressed quite firmly towards some meatballs by the server but didn’t opt for them. The food seemed different, much less flavourful than I the past. The folk on an adjacent table had some definite problems with their wine and even passed the bottle to us to sniff. Had been wanting to try Toot for a while. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and while the waiting staff are young, they are fairly attentive, friendly and on the ball. Drinks are reasonably priced and while the selection is fairly limited there are decent enough beers and wines to enjoy with your meal. The starters themselves were enjoyable, we had hummus, meatballs, falafel, pastilla and bread but nothing particularly stood out to us as above ordinary or noteworthy. And at £6.95 for two small pastilla, not much more than a mouthful each and the same price for 4 small falafel the portioned seemed small for the price. Then we waited for our mains… and kept waiting… we waited around an hour between our starters and our mains with not a word from the waiting staff. We opted for the sharing board at £80 for four people. We were first greeted with mini packs or lurpack before each recieving a plate of rice and having a large platter of meats set between us. For each person there was a skewer of chicken, a skewer of lamb and a lamb cutlet/chop. The meats themselves were great, tender, juicy and delicious. The rice was light and fluffy but that was about all. There was a few slithers of accompanying onion, 4 olives and 2 halves of roasted tomato but no salad, sauces or speak of. While we enjoyed the meat we were left feeling that at £80 for a portion of meat and rice each we were rather short changed. While the meal wasn’t at all bad, and we had a nice time, we left feeling we had paid a lot of money for some very small mezzee, meat and rice…. Wouldn’t go again.

Really good food, couple of bits not to our taste, don't order with just eat as they haven't used them for over a year. Prices on the website are different from in-house.

Great and flavourful food. As a vegetarian I always enjoy adding new restaurants that can accommodate. Great range of food options for me couples with lovely staff. I especially enjoyed the recommendations given by the staff. The price as well was extremely reasonable. Great little gem with a nice interior, would definitely recommend.

A group of 6 of us tried Toot for the first time after reading a review in The Guardian and were delighted! The place is a riot of colour, including the wooden tables which are laid out in 4 rows, so you are close to your neighbours (it feels cosy and friendly rather than crushed). Staff are very welcoming and Evie (fairly new) was smiley, helpful and, with our myriad of questions about the food and flavours, great at going to get answers where she did not know. The food was delicious and plentiful with amazing flavours (try the meatballs). I would absolutely recommend Toot.

Love a restaurant with no tablecloths, but love this more for the variety of colours and its visitors. Don't be put off by the Plymouth urban surroundings, or the closely packed two seater tables, this is always a real pleasure due to the amazing Persian menu.

Absolutely fantastic! The food was incredible, the atmosphere friendly and the lady waiting tables couldn't have been more helpful or worked any harder to make our evening lovely.

Had a fabulous dinner here last week. A great variety of starters/meze. The quality of the food was first class, and served by friendly and helpful staff. We had the chefs sharing platter, all of which was a delight. The Persian meatballs and the Kashkeh Bademjoon particularly stood out as mouth wateringly delicious, as was the entire mixed grill meat platter which was cooked to perfection.

If there is a restaurant that shows the symbol of Iran and being Iranian, Tut restaurant is definitely the best. Last night, we had a memorable night with my friend in this restaurant by eating Iranian food. Everything was perfect, thank you

We were recommended the King’s Feast and left somewhat disappointed. For £35 each this did not feel like a meal fit for a king or even his jester. The starters consisted of 2 dips and 2 dishes to share and the main was a selection...
