Excellent place to leave your teenagers while you go shopping

This WAS our favourite date night spot, until today. A rowdy 10 person table sat next to us, and was really loudly shouting at each other. We gave them the benefit of the doubt for 30 mins, but then asked politely if they could stop shouting because we couldn't hear each other. One girl rolled her eyes and said "mind your business, we have a birthday" I then asked at the till of we could possibly move, and explained that it was too loud for us to play, and I was told they were full and they couldn't do anything, which is fine, but then they did NOTHING about the loud table. We once again asked if anything could that even though they were loud, nothing could be done. So we paid and left. £5 each is pretty expensive for 1 hour of decent playing, and 30 minutes not being able to hear each other, and the staffs attitude means we probably won't be back. I hate complaining, but not doing anything at all ruined our night out.

It's great, staff are lovely and entrance fee is very reasonable. Only reason I've not given it 5 stars is that I think the food is a little pricey for this type of venue.

Games, Food & Drinks were amazing we loved how friendly the staff were and the ambience was great. Me and my partner we were enjoying playing games and eating however, they could do better at providing more intimate seating areas or some way to create separate seating pods for everyone because groups of people enjoying themselves didn't realise how loud they could be causing us to constantly struggle to hear each other so we didn't stay for long.

Good selection of games, always feels up-to-date. I love coming here with friends. Staff are always really lovely too.

Glad to have discovered Twist! If it’s a rainy day and you’re stuck on what to do then here’s your answer. Hundreds of board games to choose from and only £5pp for up to 4hr play. The food and drinks menu is vast and the service is friendly too! Highly recommend, we’ll be back… Ps: The Moving Mountains Miso Burger is a must for all the plantbased folks

Wonderful staff, lovely food and atmosphere

Absolutely appalling experience. We hadn’t even had one drink when they decided we can’t have any more drinks , the staff took 30 minutes to take our first drink order and were ridiculously rude when we refused to pay the 5£ a person fee for the 4hr board game fee . Really disappointed as we were all looking forward to a few chill drinks and games . Just lost a large amount of service due to staff being unable to identify an actual drunk person and a group of people having fun (one pregnant and 4 sober from working ).

I was a bit unsure about posting this one as I do love Twist, been a few times and the food and customer service has always been outstanding, and it was on this occasion too both the girl and guy who served us were really attentive, so I highly recommend. But the one thing that let it down was a manager(?) (young blonde) being quite frankly rude to other members of staff, we were sat on the table near the bar and all we could hear was her either being rude and talking down to some, or making unkind remarks to other members of the team about who I am assuming are other members of the team. The staff at twist are ( usually ) amazing, so this was a bit disheartening as members of the team have always given us great service! Will still be back soon though. Hopefully her attitude changes!

Love this spot. Spent a good couple hours playing all sorts of games! Loved it! It was our wedding anniversary weekend and really enjoyed hanging out on a wet Saturday afternoon playing games! Customer service was brill! Great game recommendations! Thanks guys!

Worst experience EVER. We turned at 9:10pm for a booking made for 9:20pm. We've been here many times. The waitress gave us a menu and said she'd give us a minute to choose what we wanted. Then comes back to take our order, to tell us they randomly closed the kitchen early and we can't have food (IT WAS A FOOD MENU). So she says we can have snacks instead. So we look for snacks on the menu, again she gives us a few minutes. The menu says SNACKS - FRIES. She comes back and asked what we wanted, we say fries. She says no we don't do fries as snacks. Staring at the menu in disbelief as this woman HUFFS at us, we just walked out and will NEVER EVER come back. Terrible, gone downhill massively. No wonder it's not busy with that type of behaviour!

Came in the other day, and was served by a lovely person named Sophie, she was plesent, and really helpful. Lovely place to pop in for a coffee and talk about games :)

Can't believe I've missed out on this place! The food beats expectations by some margin. I will be back... for the food. The drinks are great, we had quite a few of the cocktails and I don't remember there being one we didn't like. The happy hour situation was limited due to the table service, don't go in expecting an hour if mayhem, we got 2 rounds in in that time. Game selection is great. Games on sale look so much fun! Decor is mental :P. Honestly try this place out. Its great!!!

Cracking venue for boardgames... Good selection in their library and helpful advice too. We popped in for a quick couple of games and something to drink and impressed by the set up... V well thought out layout (special tables to help store things as you play is a bonus), warm, clean and looks like a good menu too. Do give it a go if you are in the area! Will be visiting again.

I have been here multiple times for dates with my partner. Great coffee, good food, good service. Never felt rushed to leave, always felt comfortable and happy. Lovely lovely place with staff that genuinely care about your experience and enjoyment! I remember not knowing what game to play and asking the staff and being suggested the perfect game for us! Absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to go to get to know people as well, atmosphere makes it comfortable to talk while also providing good conversation topics so the conversation never runs dry! Honestly the perfect date location in my opinion.

Second time visiting and we will definitely be back. Loads of games, food is delicious and the staff are lovely. We were offered 2 free drinks as there was a delay on a burger - amazing service!

We went here for the first time on a Sunday night and it was really busy to my surprise. We had a great time and the food was great. It has a really chilled atmosphere so you feel like you've gone out and had a great time without going out out.

I cannot believe how people gave 5 stars to this place. You need to pay £5 per person to play just one board game. It is too much. Foods are also not good and portions are small. Not recommend at all but servise and atmosphere is decent.

Haven't had a chance to try the food yet. Happy hour is a bonus!

Great place! Lovely owner and staff, always have greats tips for games and tactics. Lots of different games, from easy fun simple games to more strategic long games. Wonderful food and drink, mulled wine, at christmas time of the year is always a win. The coffees are lush too.

We’ve been to a few Game Cafes around Europe, Twist was very clean and tidy with a great atmosphere. There is a great selection of both new and traditional games in the library. My only niggle is the £5 per head charge to play games, compared to other cafes this is unusual.

Great cocktails and food, especially when timed with the 2-4-1 happy hour. Limitless games and loads of recommendations from the staff if you need some inspiration. Go about twice a month and never a bad evening.

£5 entry each is a bit steep, but good atmosphere and hundreds of games to play. Good selection of drinks.

We walked in but booking is also available. There's plenty of games and a good bar. There are cocktails and a food menu too. Great facilities. Highly recommended.

Loved it, the café has a really fun vibe and the food is so good! I've been struggling with my appetite but the cauliflower bites with blue cheese ranch cured me, so delicious. Affordable too!

A great evening games cafe, a wide variety of board games with social fun in mind. A good selection of food and drinks and the staff are great and friendly.

I took my niece here and I was not sure what to expect. I was blown away by how clean and nice the place looked. The staff were very helpfull and very polite. We played games for almost 5 hours and they let us stay longer than the 4 hour "reservation time" as it was not busy. My niece told me that what she liked the most was that the tables have another shelf under them to put her cards, she is 9 and finds it hard to hold 5+ cards. I like this part of the tables also as you could put unwanted boxes or rule book out of sight but close to hand. I drove 2 hours to come check it out and I would do that again for sure!

Fabulous celebration night at Twist last night with a group of girlfriends. The team at Twist were so accommodating and supportive with the planning and organising. We requested to pre-order and pay for the game sessions, the food and some of the drinks prior to the evening - quality cocktails and nibbles on arrival, very tasty pizzas and fries delivered to the table half an hour later and then an evening full of games with frequent replenishment of those incredible cocktails 🍹 🍸 The Twist Team had been asked if they could recommend a selection of games for a group of people who didn’t all know each other. A large selection had been put on the table ready for our arrival - every game we played was a huge success, lots of fun and laughter! I can’t recommend Twist enough for an entertaining group night out. Staff are attentive, food and drink is top notch and there is a massive choice of games. Range of diets catered for and a really good selection of mocktails as well as cocktails. By the end of the evening a few of us were ready for a cup of tea 😆 - Wild Rooibos and decaf tea with teapots that poured well into gorgeous cups and saucers. 10/10 and we will be back ❤️❤️ If you haven’t already, pay Twist a visit. You can pop in for just a coffee (or something stronger) and a bite to eat and there are always staff on hand to explain things if you did want to play a game.

Great venue. We had 34 of us. Great communication before hand. Well managed on the eve. Big selection of games for all ages, room to move around, a great night out. Smaller groups make for better gaming sessions if you want a serious session.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, this quiet little board game shop is perfect to escape and have a quiet time.

Went for food with family group (there were 9 of us). Friendly staff, nice airy upstairs table. All the food was excellent and well presented. The venue had a nice friendly atmosphere and the chatter if people playing board games was nice. Thougherly recommend. Will definitely be back.

I took my family here and we had an amazing time playing board games, the food was nice but a bit pricey. There is countless games to play and in this day and age with technology it was a great way to connect with the family again

Superb food, excellent range of boardgames, and incredibly friendly staff that are more than willing to go the extra mile with help with orders or even suggesting and explaining the games they have on selection. If I had any complaints it would be that (through no fault of their own) some games might have one or two smaller pieces missing or a slightly very well used sticky card. But that comes with the territory. Also the pizzas are genuinely fantastic.

Loved it. Board games, food and drinks, what more do we need? Definitely coming back. Food was very nice. We had the vegan nachos, vegan veggie hot pizza and moving mountains burguer.

What a great place to spend time with your family and friends. Amazing idea and social interaction. We thoroughly enjoyed our time playing lots of games we wouldn't have known about. Will visit again soon.

5/5 stars Well decorated, nicely designed, friendly boardgame café with lots of choice. Love that the tables had space underneath them to place the boardgame boxes. A big thank you to the female staff member working on Nov 2nd who was incredibly friendly and very kindly explained to us how Sushi Go! was played. Also there was a great choice of food to eat on the menu, I loved the pepper and chilli rice bowl. Was a lovely way to spend my birthday 🥳

Absolutely amazing place to go for fun! The workers there can help you out if you don't know what to play. The boardgame options are endless and there is always something to play. The food is delicious, however, a little pricey. Student Wednesdays are the best also 😍

This was great. Me and my friend had a few hours to kill in Plymouth so we were so glad to find this place. We bought our own games, but we're amazed at the selection available. We ended up just choosing something from the shelf. Nice big gaming tables and comfy benches to sit on. Friendly, chatty staff and really nice coffee and soft drinks. We regretted eating earlier as the menu looked great. The one thing we found a teensy bit disappointing was the table service, or what we thought was table service. It began as table service when we got there, but we didn't have anyone ask if we needed refreshments after our irst order arrived. We weren't sure if we were supposed to go and order again at the counter, or wait to see a server come by. Being British we are obviously far too polite to start clicking fingers or call over a server, so we just sat there amd hoped for the best... a little confusing to be honest.

Very good experience will come again with friends.

Loved being able to experience playing different games. I had such a fun night out with old and new friends! However, I've only awarded 3 stars because I have special dietary requirements and there was not much that I could eat. If you're vegan, veggie or diabetic you'll struggle because their menu doesn't accommodate you. Apart from that it's a great night out!

I absolutely love this place. When you go in to play games you get a four hour timeslot for a fiver per person and you can order food and drinks to enjoy whilst playing games. They have a massive selection of games to chose from. You don't have to play any games and can use this like a regular restaurant and it would save a fiver but the gaming is what really sets this place apart from other places. The staff are friendly and polite and will do everything in their power to make sure you enjoy your time here 10/10 would recommend.

Twist is great fun. We went for a work night out and it was so much better than just going for food somewhere, so much laughing and really getting to know each other better via the games. There's a huge range of them too, from simple and silly (like the ones we chose) to the hardcore gamer stuff with a bunch of rules and backstory. Highly recommended, much better than the pub.

Love coming here to play games that we wouldn't get to at home. There's so much choice! The food here is also amazing.

Absolutely amazing place to hang out and play a massive selection of great board games. They are dog friendly too, so perfect for people with four legged friends. The staff are incredibly helpful and will assist you with game rules. The selection of drinks are very good and the new menu is great too. All in all, a great place to spend time with friends and family.

A fantastic selection of board games, cocktails and food! The nachos were fully loaded and tasted great.

The "gimmick" might be the board games (and there's a huge selection, both classic and modern), but there's also an excellent selection of drinks, both hot and cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The pizza and cake offerings are also delicious, so it's worth popping in even if you don't have time for a game. If you're into games, the staff are knowledgeable, helpful and enthusiastic in helping you choose and set up, and the "double layer" tables are perfect for hiding your cards where that's necessary!

Adore Twist - great range of games to play, staff super welcoming and friendly every visit and the cocktails and ciders are perfect every time! The recent addition of pizzas and nachos are just perfect either to nibble on mid game or pause and just enjoy.

i absolutely love this place! never seen so many game options in my life. we have gone multiple times and you pay 5 pounds to sit and play as many games as you want during the time slot. we normally do about three games and then are tired/times almost up. also has my favorite beer in plymouth (they have nice variety and do happy hour specials). have ordered the pizza (10/10), garlic bread (7/10), nachos (10/10), cappuccino (10/10), and espresso martini (5/10).

Good pizza, pleasant staff and great fun with the games. We sat near the window and it was freezing cold unfortunately. I felt that £5 per person to play games was a bit steep, but I guess that's what the place is about.

Went there with a club, the selection of games were amazing, I believe there were more than 600 games. Food and drink was amazing. Student deal was great value for money, including a 4 hour game time, a pizza and drink. The staff were lovely and the pizza was genuinely incredible. Highly recommend for groups.

My friend and I loved it here! There are so many games here, the staff were super nice and the food was decent. Would've preferred if there were more menu options but what they already had was tasty and fitting for a board games session. Coming back here with my family next week. Highly recommend.

A great idea. This gem of a café is the perfect place to spend a few hours with the family. With a large selection of board games there is enough to interest anyone. Their coffee was spot on as well. Once we get back to some resemblance of normality I'm bringing my family back here.
