Wow 19 of us attended yesterday for a bottomless brunch and was honestly blown away….. and all because of the x2 young girls Mia and Kaitlyn….. what a Absoulete pair of darlings, constantly bringing us drinks, looking after our every need. Nothing was too much hassle for them. The are the biggest asset to this place - you blew us away with your hospitality - plates are very lucky to have you both xxx

Went for an anniversary meal at lunch. Food was amazing, we loved the Korean Chips!! Kaitlin was really nice and helpful. I'd definitely recommend and will be going back again soon.

Stopped in to the outside area for a quick drink and snack. Super impressed with the food - I'm allergic to egg, and they flagged that the original dish we had chosen was at risk of cross-contamination, and then the chef came out to talk though options and made a couple of recommendations. Lovely food - decent portion size and beautifully presented with fresh and tasty ingredients.

Great customer service from Brandon and the food was excellent and tasted brilliant the chef is obviously very experienced. The staff was amazing and checked if I needed anything and if the food was good. Will definitely come back.

Absolutely loved it there. Really awesome food selection. Had the platter for 2 with a mate with drinks and was a fair price. All the food was divine. The beef with noodles, the crispy chicken, bang bang prawns, bao buns all amazing. The nachos were very good but seemed to be the weakest as they were only nachos in comparison but still some of the best nachos I'd had probably. Served by Mia who was a cracking host. Had to wait a little while for the food but of course there's so many dishes to cook up and the chef brought it out to explain which dishes were which. Will definitely return

Love this place so much. The food is amazing, especially the Sunday lunch. Can tell the chefs are really skilled. We did a bottomless brunch there as well which was also great, service is always super quick and efficient.

Absolutely loved it. Cannot fault the food one bit. Proof that a small menu can be executed with perfection. The flavours were expertly balanced, fantastic choice and perfect for sharing if you can't decide and want to try it all. The presentation is also spot on. Menu suggests 2 mains and a side per person. We ordered this, so 4 mains and 2 sides between two. I would say this is a lot of food!! We ate at 1330 and did not need to eat for the rest of the day! The teriyaki beef and noodles in a whole meal in itself! The Menu at a glance does appear expensive, especially as they advise 3 dishes per person but do not let this put you off, you do not need to order all of that, but if you do, each dish is worth the amount you pay. Absolutely would recommend and will return again to try the bottomless brunch. They do have a DJ in at weekends from lunch onward, I assume to cater for the bottomless brunch. It isn't obscenely loud and you can hold a conversation over the music but be aware if you want a quiet venue.

Good food excellent service what more can I say. Will definitely be going back.

On Saturday a group of us had the bottomless brunch for my friends birthday. The staff were amazing and the food was the best I have had in a long time. They catered for me as I am a celiac and nothing was to much trouble for them. We had plenty of drinks and they were really good. This is the best bottomless brunch I have had in Plymouth and the drinks were strong. I would highly recommend plates and we will be returning. Thank you to the plates team for a great afternoon 😁

Firstly we ordered the Tacos, and instead of getting what was described, we received: chicken, sour cream, a drop of guacamole in a stale taco shell. Secondly, the Parmesan and truffle chips, which were actually frozen oven chips still cold on the inside with barely any truffle and parmesan on top. And finally the "Long Islands" that took 30 mins to arrive to us, which im pretty sure they forgot to pour any alcohol into. Yes that's it. We decided to leave hungry rather than order any more plates unfortunately, though we would have left sooner if the waitress did not take so long to deliver our bill that the bartender caught on and had to deliver it herself. Bit weird having a DJ while we ate but it was probably the best part of the meal. Not sure why there are so many good reviews here to be honest.

Went to plates yesterday with my niece and sister. We sat down and was asked if we would like any drinks. When the drinks was brought out there was no spoon, sugar, or milk. I have to ask for it. A spoon was never given, so I had to use my knife to stir my drink. And the to wait for a hour prior to being asked if we had ordered from the menu, when the food come out it tasted burnt. Beef was disgusting, cauliflower cheese was hard, toast potatoes was over cooked and burnt, the cabbage had onion mixed throughout, and the gravy was to thick more like custard. And the Yorkshire pudding was uncooked. I spent £60 I won’t be eating there again.

First time visit to Plates. Very impressed with how well the food was cooked! couldn't fault any of it. Also great service from all the floor team. Should've taken some photos for uploading with this review as the food presentation was great. Only negative.... the front door doesn't close tight by itself (if your sat next to it on a cold night you feel it)

Booked a table online. When we arrived, they said they booked someone on the same table over the phone and we have to leave. Did not have the opportunity to taste the food. Not going back due to poor customer service.

All food presented at the same time that’s fine but we felt in a hurry to eat it as it all went cold very quickly having a very noisy cocktail maker right by our table was not a smart move on there behalf all in all certainly didn’t live up to all it’s amazing reviews

We had heard really great things about this restaurant but I can't say it lived up to the hype. The chef was fab and really helpful but the waiting staff were not all that engaging. The food was okay, some dishes better than others, but the drinks were really poor. Overall it was an okay evening but not the standard I would have expected given the cost

My first time to Plates for our network Plymouth Christmas lunch. I didn't realise it was in my favourite pub whilst I was in University (Cuba) very nostalgic. I love what they have been able to do in the space, the food and service was absolutely incredible.

One of the best meals I have had in plymouth ina long time.

Fantastic venue, brilliant food and staff. Reasonable prices and offers available, only downside was it was quite loud with the open plan kitchen, but we were quite a loud group too!

Came in with my fella for a roast on Sunday. Had a brilliant time, food was fantastic, i have a dairy allergy which was no problem for them, the staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Had great expectations for this place. After booking more then 2 weeks in advance, we were asked twice if we booked. Once after arrival and again when we were seated and drinks order taken. Then told some items were not available on the menu ( which is expected some times ) but to be told they will take our order when they give the kitchen a chance to catch up and will come back when they are ready. Seemed cheeky while still waiting for drinks to arrive. We had been seated for near to 25 mins and asked a staff member what the "plate" dish consisted of. To be told we can't order that it takes too long and they have a large party to serve. Our party of 4 became a little annoyed so left, 🙄

Excellent and unique experience. My friend booked this place, I had not heard of it. With absolutely no expectations I was really impressed. Rather than committing too a large meal meal you order multiple small plates from the menu. Huge compliments to the chef because all of the food that was delivered to me was 10/10. Strongly recommended.

Was good overall. I couldn't say the food was amazing, but then I only had a mac n cheese topped with chicken. So need to set realistic expectations. Nice decor, attentive staff. Reasonable prices.

First time eating here this evening and will certainly be back. They've done a really good job with the decor and the atmosphere is relaxed. Service was excellent, and the food was top notch. Recommend the pork tacos, satay and bao buns. Really hope it's a big success for the owners, looking forward to my next visit.

This place is just what Plymouth has been missing. The food is so delicious. We had “the plate” and I couldn’t fault one dish, they were all so good and presented so well. Great atmosphere and music. We all had such a lovely time and will 100% be returning!

What an experience,don't just look at the menu experience the menu. My wife and I had a tasting menu (the plate) and can't find anything to complain about. The food was well presented, we were told what it was and how it was put together, all the combinations worked perfectly. Wash down with excellent wine and 2 cocktails. The hostess, chef & staff couldn't have been more accomodating. Will definitely be returning.

Visited Plates thisevening with friends, we were greeted warmly when we arrived. We could sit where we liked, which I always prefer. Wonderful service from our waitress Alicia. The food was excellent, the service outstanding! It was our first time visiting Plates, would highly recommend this venue, we had a fabulous evening!

Cannot fault the food absolutely fabulous flavours . We feel that the menu should be made more clear regarding dietary requirements. Also the music is a tad loud so we couldn't quite hear what the servers were saying. The owner is super friendly and helpful I wouldn't hesitate to go back

Thought the idea was good but the prices are quite high and food wasn't that special. Scallops overpowered by the bacon wrapped around them.

Ate here on Saturday. On approach to the restaurant the music from the club next door was off-putting but it was fine once we actually got inside. The food was absolutely delicious and excellent quality. And the staff were friendly and attentive despite being really busy. Would definitely recommend!

A group of 5 ladies trying this place for the first time, and we were not disappointed. Great service and delicious food, beautifully presented and so different to the normal run of the mill eating places . Will definitely be returning to sample more as it was difficult to decide which dish to have.

Food was excellent, very nicely cooked and presented and a good size. Variety of dishes was good also. Cocktails were nice also! Would be 5* but the music was too loud in the back and the storage/rubbish room was open with a lady in and out with nothing all the time - just took the edge off the atmosphere.

Certainly the best casual dining experience in Plymouth. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and out of this world food. Jordan and Alicia have created a cool vibe for great food, drinks and cocktails. The £30pp plate gives you a taster of almost everything and was delicious. Highly recommended by us.

Booked at Plates this evening and we picked 5 plates to share. WOW. all the food blew us away from the look to the taste with some amazing sauces. Great service and really kind workers. Can’t wait to come back for some more!! Recommend the pork tacos 100%

Had dinner at Plates today and the everything was amazing!!! The Mac and cheese is to die for, all the food was delicious. Our server Alicia was super lovely and the atmosphere was lush. Really enjoyed our time. Cocktails 10/10 too. Highly recommend!!

Had the most insane meal here during their student night, 2 plates which are huge & a cocktail for £16!! Between 2 we had calamari, a trio of tacos, beef bao buns & a yorkie pud with a mini roast inside, the truffle mash was incred & everything I asked for could be made gluten free. Such high quality food for unreal prices, will be back very soon!

The Mac'n'Cheese with Southern Fried Chicken Tenders is amazing. Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu.

I can't speak highly enough about this place. Each time I have visited, I have had a great experience. The food is absolutely amazing, the service is fantastic, as is the atmosphere. The cocktails are also really nice and well presented. So if you're looking for somewhere to eat that ticks all the boxes at extremely fair prices, you can't go wrong with plates. Give it a try.

We attended the taster evening and nothing was too much trouble for the FOH team, or the kitchen. The food was incredible, flavours absolutely amazing and the feel of the restaurant was great - amazing being able to see your food being cooked infront of you! Looking forward to coming back and trying the full menu!

Great place to eat and drink! The food was delicious and we were served by the most welcoming staff. The location is perfect, ample of local parking. The interior is quirky and with the music playing, it’s a really enjoyable place to go. Child friendly which is always a bonus 😃. Would highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Plates. The taster menu was incredible and they had my favourite frozen strawberry daiquiri cocktail as well! The service was amazing and nothing was too much trouble (even with my fussy brother who hates cheese so they custom made him the dishes without it) Going back on Saturday with a group of friend’s!
