We always pop in here for lunch on our way to Forest Glade Holiday Park. Fantastic portion sizes, very cosy and welcoming. Dog friendly. Love it x

Nice cosy atmosphere with friendly family staff, standard menu has nice options and there are always nice specials to choose from (the smoked salmon sandwich bangs). Enjoy when they open for evenings too.

Visited The Bakehouse in January 2024 with my friend and was delighted by the g/f options. I had the 'bubble and squeak' with poached eggs which was the best lunch out I've had in a very long time. Absolutely scrumptious.

Love the food, relaxing environment. Best coffee in the area!!!! Polite and helpful staff. Cheese board is usually good, blue and brie were brilliant, cheddar too mild for my taste. 30.1.24 - had a breakfast with my better half. She enjoyed her poached eggs, I went for the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, lovely, swift service, friendly helpful staff. Nice and warm on a cold day next to the log burner . Still the go to place in cullompton for food.

Love this place! Only cafe I know where it's a good idea to book in advance. A stop-off treat when travelling to Exeter or beyond. Fantastic breakfasts and lovely cakes. Friendly and helpful staff.

Absolutely delicious squash soup, incredible houmous, perfect chunky chips. Very friendly and cosy with a great atmosphere. There is a 'sharing table', and a real neighbourhood feeling.

We stopped in Cullompton on our way elsewhere so that we could have a leg stretch after a long journey. After a walk around the town we saw The Bakehouse and being dog friendly decided to pop in. Friendly service and great atmosphere we decided to have something to eat as well as a drink. An americano and a luxury hot chocolate, with the hot chocolate actually being hot unlike so many places where it is lukewarm and you end up finishing it two minutes later. This was creamy and a good helping of marshmallows! We then ordered a bakehouse toastie consisting of cheddar and mozzarella with hogs bottom tomato and red onion chutney. It was like a meal in itself and a very impressive and fresh side salad. We also ordered the crispy fried halloumi wrap with rocket, peppers, red onion and chilli sauce. Again, a large serving with great side salad. Both meals freshly made and piping hot, so chance for them to cool down a bit and enjoy the surroundings of the premises. A great place and one we will be sure to visit again next time we pass through. Oh whilst I am a Costa coffee fan, which is just on the opposite side of the road, I implore people to support The Bakehouse team where you get freshly prepared on-site food and drink at prices more competitive than you will get in any major chain coffee house.

Although not busy it took ages for the scones to arrive. I think we were forgotten.

First time visitors. What a chilled, comfortable venue. Its bigger than it looks from the outside with a nice dining room at the rear if you fancy with a lovely looking fire for when it's cold. I had jacket potato with lovely crunchy coleslaw, roasted vegetables and blue cheese. Jackets can sometimes be a bit boring but this was excellently cooked and presented. Washed down with a glass of merlot. Can only thoroughly recommend the whole experience. Sometimes you DO get what you pay for and I felt we definitely got value for money here.

The Bakehouse is a fantastic place to come for a meal or just a bit of tea and cake. The food is so delicious and always prepared and presented beautifully. And of course, the staff are wonderful! I can highly recommend popping in to The Bakehouse!

Went in for lunch with my wife Friendly service, comfortable. I had a smoked salmon, cream cheese and rocket leaf sandwich on local granary bread which came with a good leafy salad. The sandwich was huge and well made. My wife had the quiche of the day, which went down well and she couldn't finish it, which is fine. We thought the tea wasn't strong enough but I guess it's a question of personal taste. I wouldn't say it was cheap: over £25.

A destination eatery on the ways to and from Cornwall. Easy parking in Tesco’s and excellent food and service the third year running for us and better every time.

Quick pit stop on way home to Liverpool from Cornwall We wanted to stop off for a quick sandwich somewhere not too far off motorway and my god what a sandwich we got! Huuuge door stoppers which we’re absolutely delicious! Home made and tasty! You won’t go wrong here on the way to/from Cornwall!

Ordered a Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Toasted Sandwich. On arrival it was clearly undercooked. The cheese was not melted and the bacon was cold and not cooked. Mentioned this to a member of staff who took it away. This was replaced with either the same sandwich or a new sandwich that was cooked and was hot to touch. Don't know how they cook there toasties but it appeared as though all the ingredients had been put into two slices of bread and toasted all together. Not the best and won't be returning.

Lovely accidental find, when making a pit stop in Cullompton. Excellent food (try the halloumi!), friendly service and the back room where we ate was full of character. Reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommended.

We stopped here for a quick takeaway coffee and were really impressed by the cosy decor. The staff were pleasant and there was a good selection of cakes. We’d have stayed for lunch had we had more time.

Found this lovely little coffee shop from the Extra Mile book, 5 minutes off the M5 and free on street parking for an hour, we went for the scones with jam & cream and a cappuccino, definitely worth the drive off the motorway the scones were delicious and the cappuccinos were excellent. All the staff were friendly and welcoming ,the place was clean as were the toilets, will definitely call in again when we find ourselves down that way.

I was given a voucher for an Afternoon Tea here and my husband and I enjoyed every minute of our visit! The staff were so friendly in a relaxed yet efficient way, the food arrived having chosen our sandwiches and cake. I had the ham sandwich and it was delicious as was the cheese and chutney. Scones were excellent and we took the cake home with us and some sandwiches so we can enjoy them later. I would really recommend trying this restaurant. The menu is varied and offers quite a lot of vegetarian options. We will definitely be going back! You made the trip feel special!

Great breakfast! Lovely place as always. Update - unfortunately our lunch visit today was a little disappointing. Lunch choices were a bit more limited than we remember. Had 2 meze platters to share. Fish platter was excellent but falafel was dry and overcooked. They brought 2 more which were better but still not up to expectations. Felt the falafel, humus and olive platter was way less plentiful than the fish. We like the Bakehouse so were disappointed it was not up to normal standard.

We had lunch it was absolutely delicious I had the sea food platter my husband had the chicken burger which was also lush , the staff are so happy in they’re work and are very professional . Shout out to who ever makes those brownies they are amazing thank you

What a brilliant find - we live in Pennymoor towards Witheridge so don't often come to Cullompton, but worth the visit just for this gem. A wonderfully cosy, atmospheric cafe with simple and tasty food, great value, very polite and friendly staff and very dog friendly!!!! Such a perfect mix of spacious yet intimate, with lovely wooden furnishings and a great selection of daily sweet bakes. Will 10/10 be visiting again and couldn't recommend more. Good food, good service. If you're meeting with friends for lunch book a table at the rear because it gets very noisy in the front of the cafe. But, well worth visiting.

Had lunch with the family at the window table last Saturday. The food and the service were both excellent as usual. I can thoroughly recommend the Filo Parcels. And unlike some Cafe Bars, the children’s meal was well prepared and presented too.

Great stop off of the m5 for lunch - don’t go to the service station/ have a proper break and support a sweet local cafe / bar.

My husband, my sister & I took our Mum for Luncheon. This was to celebrate our Mum's 81st birthday. Excellent service & food. So much so, I asked for the recipe of the Homemade soup of the day, which my Mum loved. Staff more than happy to assist us in what we needed. I would advise to book a table to avoid disappointment, especially if it is for a special Lunch.

Fab full english breakfast enjoyed at the bakehouse. Been a few times now and everything is consistently really tasty, especially the sausages that are a world apart from supermarket ones. Should call it an all day breakfast because it fills me up all day. We'll definitely continue coming back when we deserve a treat.

Have been before and generally had good experiences so I went for lunch over the Easter break, had an absolutely awful meal. I couldn’t eat the food. Obviously buying cheap ingredients and charging a premium. Chicken was on wrong side of being cooked, gristly, soggy chips that had been reheated. Put me off going back ever again and I was completely disappointed with what had previously been somewhere we rated. Perhaps trying to make more profits or maybe a change in chef but was truly disgusting.

Superb place to eat. Great staff who will find you somewhere to sit. The bacon sandwich is perfect. Thick bacon in between two very thick pieces of fresh bread. Try the salad dressing that you can purchase.

I've stopped here a few times for breakfast while passing and it has a great atmosphere and good quality food. However, I've noticed that whilst some staff are really forthcoming and will ask you about substitutions (e.g. an extra hash brown if you don't want beans); others don't even broach the subject. This means that depending on who serves you, your meal can seem quite sparse or full. It can be quite uncomfortable for customers to directly ask about swapping breakfast items if they are unsure of the policy or are socially anxious, so it would be helpful if all staff followed the same procedure. I've particularly noticed that the young male waiter (I think he wore a penguin hat when he served us near Christmas?!) will never ask. Nevertheless, it's a great place for breakfast and I would really recommend it!

Great veggie breaky and sausage bap - we couldn’t even tell the difference between our meat and veggie sausages! Great oat cappuccino too. Worth the slight detour on a trip to Exeter.

Excellent breakfast and coffee, really enjoyed it, great service. Its worth noting that it is much bigger than it looks from the front, so if it looks busy there is another dining room so it's worth popping in and asking if there is a table. :)

Took a detour from the motorway service station and stumbled across this little gem. Coffee was deliciously smooth and just the right temperature to drink quickly and to fuel me for another few hours on my journey back up North. It was also a hell of alot cheaper than the service station.

Made my first visit here recently for a weekend brunch, having passed by a couple of times. I'd recommend booking ahead, especially at the moment as tables are time limited. The welcome and service were both warm and friendly, with just the right level of attention. The menu looked tempting, and I have to say the eggs royale was absolutely spot on. Excellent doorstep chunk of granary bread, and obviously fresh eggs. Washed down with a decent coffee too. Highly recommended.
