Lovely cafe,busy with a lot of regulars.A lot of family history to this place.

Lovely place for a refreshing break. The staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are good and there's a wide choice of food and drinks.

Me and lady I was supporting were stuck in Tiverton as bus nit turned up sat in cold let us sit in and warm up very kind and friendly staff beautiful place and food looks amazing. Worth a visit 5 star service ✨️

Great little cafe right near the bus station. Ideal for a fantastic breakfast right before a bus journey or just grabbing a quick coffee or beer before a day of shopping. Always service with a smile. Can be busy though at certain times

Decent flat white, tasty smoothie - which didn't break the bank - and a nice vegan breakfast with sliced avo add, that has left me full and satisfied. Defo the place to go for breakfast if you're in the Tiverton, mid-Devon area

Had a breakfast delivered this morning and I was slightly skeptical about it but wow it was incredible. The value for money is great and they were lovely to deal with too.

They treated us rudely and didn’t like us charging our phones (we were staying off-grid). The food was really overpriced and when I opened my takeaway box my egg was missing so I paid £8 for some horrid mushrooms, tiny pot of beans, tomato and dry bread. I called and told them and asked them to contact me but they didn’t bother. We only wanted take out because we waited twenty minutes for our food and were rushing to meet a friend at the station.

Day trip to the horse drawn barge, popped in for a coffee and cake at Elsie Mays. Best lemon sponge ever, service is excellent, staff friendly. Highly recommend John and Sue from Bristol

Called in after shopping in Tiverton for a coffee break before heading home, but got seduced into a sausage and egg bap.( OK i heard it calling to me.)..Was wonderful, sausages very tasty, egg was cooked to exactly the right stage of runnyness. Large coffee is also great, this is the place to grab a light (or not so light) bite. There is plenty of choice on the menu, staff all excellent and fast service, call in if in area its well worth it.

We had a lovely high tea on Saturday (best to book in advance, as always busy in the summer. Great home made cakes and sandwiches, they also do hot meals. Shop could do with a fresh lick of paint but otherwise really friendly helpful staff and prices are reasonable.

Disappointed to the max I’m starving hungry so stopped here before hitting the motorway. Get a halloumi wrap and fries. Check the box as I’m leaving and see the wrap is TINY… but I thought ok whatever for £7.99 what do you expect? Get going and I find the fries are soft, wet absolutely drenched in oil. Cannot eat. If I was still in the cafe I’d ask for a refund! Really nice people maybe because it’s late in the day or they were rushing the food but after spending £12 on a wrap, fries and coffee… I must stop somewhere else for food again on my journey. Feel robbed.

I'd had a bit of a day by that time, and I'd had to walk all the way across Tiverton in the rain to catch the bus. The lady was tidying away right at the end of the day, but she was very welcoming and friendly and said I still had time. 👌 I asked for a coffee and cake; 🎂 the piece of cake was ooooge 👀 😯 and well worth every penny! The coffee was great too. 😋 I would not hesitate to eat there again! 👍 🏆 Thank you to the lady who served me. 🤗🤗

My daughter and myself, were treated to high tea for Mothers day. It was delicious. Home made scone,and cream and jam. Delicious cakes, and dainty sandwiches. Served with a pot of tea, or coffee. The service,and atmosphere good. Definitely recommend it.

We like to go to Elsie Mays whenever we pop into Tiverton. The meals are great, the coffee is nice and the cakes are lovely also. Service can be a bit slow at times, but they do get quite busy there, especially at lunchtime so that's forgivable. The service is probably quicker if you sit inside. Overall, a great place to eat and drink in Tiverton.

My favorite place to go for breakfast. Love the fact I can have poached egg and I get a second cup of tea.

Excellent breakfasts, lunches and customer services. Their best thing by far is their cocktails though, loved the cocktails and small bites deal, please bring it back!

Coffee was okay, a bit twee, but it was cold whilst waiting for the bus, so fine for that.

Delightful spot for grabbing a coffee and sandwich. My only gripe is that the coffee was scalding, which it's not really supposed to be.

Food is excellent. Lovely breakfast and veggie and vegan options. Service is OK but can be slow and you can stand by till without them giving eye contact or service.

Experience started nice , good outlook for people watching , near bus station . Sells snacks , coffees and Alcohol Asked one off the two older women in charge , asked if they still had time ( 20 mins before closing ) she said no problem Asked if you had a table spot with a power point to charge my mobile , well the other old duck that appeared to be in charge got short and asked what am I going to use the power point for ? She seemed to present herself as a cross between Coronation streets Hilda Ogden , A Gammon head Brexiteer or a person who's just plainly doesn't like people who don't have English accents. Glad I realised before eventually ordering as I guess the coffee n cake would have been average the way she conducted herself Many other better equivalent places in town , went to Costa where the two young Baristas made you feel welcome and a really nice coffee. Quickly move on from these two coffin dodgers

Fabulous breakfast with friendly staff.

I attended a private function last evening and had a great time, the staff were helpful and polite. Being a lovely summers evening we were able to use the outside space as well as inside. A great venue for a small intimate party, up to about 50 with the use of the outside space.

Good coffee and cake, service is not very friendly unfortunately.

Been twice this week travelling and both times excellent cake or cream tea, scones very light and fluffy. Coffee great and different plant milks available. Service excellent all staff friendly and helpful. Totally would go again and recommend to others.

Very rude staff waited 20 minutes and was not served. In the end walked away and went to M&S

Loved this cafe. while visiting tiverton strolling around, we came across Elsie Mays. We Stopped for coffee, sat outside and liked the relaxed atmosphere, 50s music gently playing. We came back later for lunch, the ladies who work there are so nice and efficient, lovely food, Fantastic, would recommend, especially on a dry day. Very close to marks and Spencer food Hall and bus station

Had a delicious 3 courseXmas meal on 23rd December (4 of us). Piping hot, generous amount of food. Two meat eaters and two vegans well catered for. Nice atmosphere and Xmas decorations. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Went with a friend and we both had their savoury cream tea. A good cheese scone is hard to find and these were some of the best I've had. Good service, nice food and good value for money.

I have been going into cafe's like Elsie May's on and off for 50-60 years and I am always pleasantly surprised to still find little gems like this . Family run by lovely people who put themselves out for their clientele and are always happy to chat when there is time. Good service and very good food, I can recommend the Omelettes which are cooked while you wait, which you don't get very often these days. There is parking nearby and if you have no car the café is right on the bus station. The lady with whom I share my life was also impressed and this lady does not impress easily. Go to Elsie Mays and enjoy the experience. PS nice coffee too! Loved it: worth five stars all day.

Lovely waitresses, amazing service, very polite and cheerful All I had was a sausage, bacon and cheese bap. I don't usually go to cafés for breakfast but I was amazed today and I will be coming more. Very nice people and I would definetly recommend this cafe to many other people.

Visited with my parents and partner for a full English breakfast great food hot good quality nothing was to much trouble lovely ladies where really accomedating for all are needs loved the old style theam in there we all left happy with full stomachs would recommend hope to visit there again soon

Lovely enjoyable vegetarian breakfast.

We went here for a girly afternoon with lunch and cocktails. Was delicious. I had a small fry up and asked for no black pudding, mushrooms or tomatoes which they replaced with extra hash browns and bacon. I also treated myself to a chocolate cake as I was driving. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their cocktails. We also had a toddler with us to which all the staff were so friendly even when she was toddling around. Will be returning soon.

Gr8 place to 'catch a bite' and close to Tiverton Bus Station. Extensive coffee, lunch and tea menu. Family-run business spanning generations with friendly service and waiting staff in 1950s style, polka dot dresses for that vintage feel!
