The best restaurants in South West

To whom this may concern First off I would like to thank you for a great roast. 29/12/24 (my birthday meal). Unfortunately on arrival half an hour early, my mum and her partner were refused a drink and an offer to be seated at the bar while they waited. as they arrived half an hour early prior to our booking at 3.30pm They felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome, they were even told to sit and wait in their car! We understand you are a small venue but this was just 2 people! As you can imagine when I arrived they were upset about this and it caused an awkward situation. This ruined the experience for us all and I have left feeling very disappointed, and on my birthday may I add once more. We will not be coming back and I will not recommend this place for any type of event to my friends. We live in the area and feel completely let down by you. Our bill was over £400 including service charge which quite frankly you do not deserve. I will copy and paste this to your website. I recommend you make changes in order for someone else in the future to not feel so let down by you as we did. Regards Abbie

It’s hard to find good service in hospitality these days, even with higher end restaurants or pubs, but everyone was friendly and the service was smooth here. Food was amazing, one of the best fish and chips I’ve had and my husbands pork dish was so simple but every mouthful was incredibly tasty. We’ve been to several pubs in the area this year and we have finally found somewhere we want to go back to. Can’t wait to the Sunday roast!

Beautiful pub - amazing staff - food is incredible

Amazing home cooked Portuguese food lovely food and wide menu, the seafood kebab and scallops were amazing , glad we got in before the end the season!

The food was great, we both had fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. The building layout is strange though, we weren't aware the cafe/resturant and fish and chip shop were the same as there are two separate counters. We wanted to eat in but were told we would have needed to order in the restaurant. Staff seemed a little off and not very welcoming, however like I said, the food was good.

A quick stop of here for a Veggie breakfast skillet. A good range of options and plenty of choice. Two large rooms decked out with a cool, eclectic mix of tables and chairs. Flat white excellent, skillet super tasty although a few less potato's and a few nice mushrooms would have made it a touch lighter! However all good and the potatoes were very tasty. On top of this, great service.

Just had a very pleasant weekend away in Jan and the hotel delivered better than we expected. Staff charming, food very good and spa was really good considering the time of year. If it was that good in Jan must be fab in warmer months when the lovely gardens come into play

We came as a family for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely perfect! Huge portions and cooked to perfection. The pub is spotlessly clean and the staff are fantastic. Overall a brilliant experience, and we'll definitely be back.

We went today for the festive afternoon tea. It was absolutely incredible!! I can’t speak highly enough of the quality of food and the service is second to none. We accidentally arrived 40mins earlier and staff were more than accommodating even serving the food much earlier than they had planned. We were very grateful and had a wonderful time. We love Avonfield!

Thank you very much Simon and Clary and team for hosting the wake for my fathers funeral. The new function room was the perfect setting and we all agreed the buffet you provided was in a class of it's own. Absolutely brilliant. The staff were friendly, welcoming and nothing too much trouble. I had many comments from family and friends who attended the wake at how impressed they were with the whole experience. Thank you again.

Small cozy noisy great service staff and food.

Went here on Wednesday evening 18/9/2024 1 hour before my booking with my wife and 14 month old daughter . Luckily they said it was fine for me to come in early,we were seated and a high chair was brought for my daughter. Me and my wife placed our orders for the 3 of us and was very pleased that the front of house team did their best to interact with our daughter who started to get frustrated from lack of sleep during our day out and keep her occupied whilst we were eating our starters and her eating from the kids menu. Now the food was great ,flavorful,fresh , colorful, citrus,some spice but not overpowering, sweetness everything you could ask for in Thai cuisine and the front of house attention to detail and behaviour when dealing with a baby who wanted to cry the walls down was spot in the way they handled the whole situation . so a great thank you to them . Sadly we had to take our mains asap as a takeaway and enjoy at home because we didn't want to disturb the rest of the guests. So what makes my review worth taking with a pinch of salt in regards to food and service Let me try to explain as briefly as possible Me and my wife have been working in the hospitality industry for nearly 18 years me as a chef in the top 3 restaurants in the world as well as 5* hotels,private member's clubs and Michelin star restaurants and my wife the f&b manager of top 5* hotels and Michelin star restaurants. So please if you love Asian, Thai and oriental cuisine take it from us and give it a try and hopefully you'll be greatly pleased with what kahuna has on offer as we were. Hopefully in the future we will revisit and give a much more in-depth review of the food, service and decor but for now Thank you
