The Agricultural Inn & Secret Garden in East Devon

We went for Sunday lunch and had the roast pork and roast beef which were both outstanding. Great selection of drinks and a really nice atmosphere.

Wow wow wow. What an amazing place. Something for every one. The roast Sunday lunch is wonderful. Friendly helpful staff. I had the roast pork. Crackling yummy. Also the passion fruit posset. Great. Plenty to eat. Lovely atmosphere very busy I should book to make sure of a table. Well worth it you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely return. Want to try their daily menu. Also.

It is located in a rural area of ​​Devon, in a very well-preserved typical English house, the staff are super friendly and for those of you who think that the food in England is bad, when you go to Agricultural you will change your mind. Fantastic.

The food is extremely overpriced but the flavor pairings aren’t at all well thought out and clash on the palate. It’s basically pseudo/wannabe gastropub fare but without the talent in the kitchen to back it up. The servers were rude and the service sub par. I’d rather drink and eat at wetherspoons

✨️we came here for a couple of ciders and some chips 🍟 after a long afternoon walk down around Stoke canon and the surrounding fields. Very busy pub serving Sunday lunch, but they made the time for us even though we didn't have a reservation! A very warm welcome awaits you all on your arrival, We attended a wedding and everything was very good, well organised in a private area the barbecue chosen by the bride & groom was very well presented and was very warmly welcomed by all the guests. Not one complaint! Only warm praise.

The Secret Garden is a beautiful and large beer garden with plenty of room, an outside bar, outside food kitchen, an array of different seating to suit all. What can I say? Awesome place, love the garden food menu, the range of ciders and cocktails. Staff are very welcoming, informal and friendly. As for accommodating dogs and their needs? 1st class dog friendly pub, plenty of water bowls and even doggy ice cream on sale. Outdoor games too!! Table tennis, connect 4even table football. Had my 1st date with my gf here, she was impressed, and we stayed for 9 hours. Perfect venue. 5* Definitely coming back to try the main pubs' menu soon.

The food was very tasty and enjoyed every bite in the Secret Garden very well priced good atmosphere welcoming . 100% will be back .

We expected great things but our entire table was left underwhelmed at an overall bland experience. The food was lifeless and the flavours felt unbalanced, the arancini balls were at best grossly malaise, the malayan curry should have been sensational but the subtle flavours were completely overpowered with the taste of burnt grilled chicken while other dishes at our table were served at a perfectly paired temperature to molten lava. The icing on an already sad tasting cake was the 10% service fee on top of already overreaching prices, especially given the level of service was merely functional. The 'fine' dining experience was also not helped by the fact that the neighbouring table was watching tiktok videos on their phone at a loud volume. I hate to write bad reviews of anywhere, and clearly they've put a lot of effort into the space but it just felt like a soullessly franchised restaurant chain of something that used to be great.

Staying near Exeter so visited Agricultural Inn based on reviews, best rated pub in the area and rightfully so, food was exceptional and fairly priced, cosy pub atmosphere and staff were all very friendly - would highly recommend!

It must be 50 odd years since I was at The Aggy! The last time, I was bridesmaid at Brampford Speke Church to a couple who celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary last week. Although an Exonian I now live in East Sussex, but we’re on holiday with our four dogs. We only wanted a snack but the hummus and flatbreads were delicious, as was the arancini. Good quick friendly service, reasonably priced. It really doesn’t need a review as it’s such a popular pub, but I like to show my appreciation.

We had an absolutely wonderful 40th birthday celebration in the Secret Garden. We were made very welcome by Joe and Jo and Karl the chef was very accommodating with helping us put together a buffet lunch menu for 50! Kids were well catered for and all the adults enjoyed a wonderful Asian High tea! The weather was terrible but the Tipi provided the perfect cover for a “English summer party” Karl obviously takes pride in his work and checked everything was as expected! I thoroughly recommend for a special occasion thank you

The place is nice location typical countryside and nice place to sit inside and outside, food is good and tasteful, the only disappointment and the reason for my 3 stars I expect chimichurri sauce and got coriander sauce, chimichurri are original from Argentina and Uruguay used on meats Contains flat parsley, oregano, olive oil, flake paprika, garlic, vinegar and garlic ( no coriander) travelling to Argentina often and that is the original recipe ! Hope the chef understands or use different name for his coriander sauce. Otherwise the food was cooked well

We booked for a Sunday Lunch and are very glad we did. The place was full and I know why. Good food, wine and beers all served by enthusiastic staff who really looked after us without being intrusive. Our friends are already talking about another visit which says it all.

A friend hired the big tipi behind the pub in The Secret Garden for a private event. The Secret Garden is licensed until 9pm with a fantastic Thai food truck, outside bar, seating, outdoor games, twinkle lights, the big tipi, smaller Tipi & some goats in a pen. Really lovely secluded quiet area.

Had an evening meal for the two of us. Great friendly staff. Very attentive considering it was quite busy. Food was absolutely amazing and plentiful, which came as a surprise as the menu includes a while you wait for your starter selection, suggesting that the starter and main meal might be small portions but you would have to be very, very hungry to go for that option. Prices therefore very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. The staff sang happy birthday to me as it was my 60th which made it even more special.

Excellent food, massive portion sizes. Deliciously moreish coffee and wonderful deserts and cheeseboards. Ray was a total delight and has been helping my MIL to sort out an issue with her voucher. We have cycled out to The Agricultural many times since about 2019 on a circular 30 mile cycle from Topsham . This time three out of fifteen people could not make the March date so asked to go on 9 April. Then five people wanted to go a second time! So we were 12 the first time and 8 the second time. The menu had changed by 9 April. The service was friendly and efficient- thanks in particular to Jo and Joe. The Otter Bright was well kept and delicious. On the first visit I had the Crispy belly pork and the second time the tender lamb cooked perfectly. Others praised their, fish pie, fish and chips, prawn risotto etc. Great all round.

We booked the inn for a family get together of 12. We have complicated dietaries and lots of dogs! We were so well accommodated and felt really welcomed despite our various requests. The food was brilliant and the range of local beers excellent, we particularly like Powderkeg and the inn has Speak Easy on tap. The garden is perfect for kids and dogs. Highly recommended.

We had eaten and drank here many times in the past but not for about 9 months. The food was good but hardly amazing and the service again good but not outstanding. Whilst I fully understand food inflation the menu overall is now very expensive compared to other establishments offering similar quality. If they want to charge that much people including myself would be happy to pay it but expect the overall experience to be a little more special. As an example The Ivy in Exeter is similarly priced but when dining there you clearly feel you’re enjoying an experience not just having lunch. The staff seemed a little less enthusiastic than on previous visits (though perfectly pleasant other than the manager whom I found quite rude). It’s a decent pub and in total fairness I would visit again at some point but wouldn’t rush to when there’s far better overall value available elsewhere.

We were celebrating a family get together lunch . The food was excellent and a superb range of choice, also a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely return.

The service and the food were excellent

Booked for a birthday meal, mid week. Upon arrival the pub was quiet but a very warm welcome was extended by both male servers. The drinks were ordered and the wine choice was discussed by my partner and one of the servers (possibly owner?) alcohol free choice was good for me. We ordered 4 items to share from the ‘while you wait section’ all items were very good! We then went straight to mains, ordering a ribeye steak and a grilled calves liver. The calves lover was melt in the mouth tender and super tasty and rich, the ribeye was cooked to perfection, with a lovely pepper sauce to complement the dish. We finished with a cocktail and a coffee, it was not a cheap evening, however I would go back in a heartbeat because it is rare to get service, knowledge, quality and atmosphere in one place!

Four old friends for weekday lunch. Wow! All of us bowled over — great location, cheery welcome, delicious food! The plumpest mussels, the best fish pie, an English breakfast terrine, a gorgeous tuna roll — l could go on. Will return! Thanks guys!

Great welcome. Really interesting menu with pub staples but also inventive and taste/flavour driven options. Wide range of drinks available. Our party had someone who need gluten free and that was very comfortably and carefully dealt with. Another person wanted a second starter as a main and again that was fine. We did not have room for dessert but they looked great Will definitely go again

Bland bland bland. The atmosphere, the food and the service. Lack of heating, lack of charm, lack of seasoning. A dull night out.

We used to be frequent Sunday lunchers here 30 years ago. Back in Exeter we took the opportunity to revisit. Yes it’s changed, the basic roast without extra’s is a good price. The chicken and veg were delicious however the belly pork was tough as old boots (resembled more of a chunk of pork). Also wasn’t happy with paying £1 for an extra ladle of gravy, that’s tight! To be honest they haven’t missed us the past 30 years so probably won’t go back but it does do a lovely roast chicken and staff were great!

Went for Sunday lunch on my son’s recommendation. All of us had the pork belly. Probably the best Sunday roast I can remember having. Pub was lovely inside, well served real ales, good local cider and friendly and attentive staff. I only wish it was my local. Will definitely be back!

We booked Sunday lunch at the Agricultural Inn in Bramford Speke today. The food is excellent, just delicious. The staff are amazing, so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is fantastic. We both ordered the roast beef, which was excellent. I really recommend booking in advance as it's so popular. If your in the area, make the Agricultural Inn a 'must go to' place a meal or drinks. You won't be disappointed!

Beautiful Hidden Gem! Cozy inside and lovely spacious seating outside with private pods. Large BBQ area behind was a surprise! Food was wonderful and full of flavour. Staff were amazing, welcoming and extremely helpful.

Staying in the village I dropped in to this pub to see if I wanted to eat there rather than drive into Exeter. Was impressed and stayed for a delicious supper. Staff all very friendly and helpful, and a great atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.

Oh Wow! What an amazing place, with indoor seating, covered terrace, bespoke dining pods and a secret garden with an outside bar and street food. I had booked a pod for husbands birthday and we were not disappointed. The weather was inclement so the pod was great, in a lovely lush nook of the beer garden. The pods are all decorated with nik naks, faux greenery, lights and also have heaters and cushions and blankets if needed. And as for the menu, what a choice. as it was a celebration, we went for the full three courses and the quality of the food was excellent as was the service. The staff were friendly and you could see that they were really on their game with customer service.

This is a really lovely gastro pub with a pretty little front terrace and a charming little garden to the side as well as having a great separate large garden at the rear of the car park. The food is always good though, as seems to be the case in many such places in England prices are not low. The wines and beers are appealing and there is plenty of walking down by the local river.

Wonderful food, great service and a fantastic environment. Lots of really tasty vegetarian options. It was great to have something in a country pub that wasn’t your normal bean burger or chickpea curry 😂 highly recommend!

The setting was lovely, the food was lovely, the service was okay. However, we were sitting at a rattan style table outside in the courtyard. R+This table had a glass top but the glass did not quite reach the edges of the table. This meant that, in the groove around the table edge a large amount of debris had collected. This groove had very clearly not been brushed or cleaned for a long while. It had crumbs, cigarette ash and all manner of bits in it and was really quite off putting. Please could I recommend that you send a member of staff out with a toothbrush or scrubbing bush to clean the edges of these rattan tables. It was enough to make me reluctant to eat there agian.
