A proper pub with lovely staff and owners who really know their ales.

A family gathering for Sunday lunch. 18 for lunch and we were all served a hot Sunday roast at the same time with plenty of vegetables and gravy. Lovely light sponge puddings with custard, just like at home, for pud. The staff put up with all the noise without getting fazed and service was very efficient. We all had a lovely relaxed time. Thank you Emma and Adrian.

I visited for a quick pint, the Hind was well presented although dated. The service was polite and friendly

The friendliness of the locals and the landlady / staff made for an entertaining couple of hours. The ales on tap are excellent and well-kept. The facilities are spotless and the building itself charming. Not a thing wrong and everything right.

Went to The Hindu for Sunday lunch and was very impressed. Great food and the staff were very friendly.

Swung by the Hind on our last night of a 7 day visit to the area and wish we’d found it sooner. Great atmosphere - we arrived just before 6pm and were greeted warmly and offered a drink immediately as we walked in. Our dog was also made welcome with a water bowl and a treat. The staff were so warm and welcoming and the food was great and extremely reasonably priced. If this was our local, we’d feel very lucky! The pub filled very quickly as good pubs do, so worth booking if you want to eat. We intend to be back next summer and will definitely come back to the Hind.

This is a lovely pub /restaurant for a family meal . The setting is lovely, the people are welcoming and friendly and we loved the food. Everything is catered for , and this is especially important because one of our party has Coeliacs. Everyone really enjoyed their meals here, and we went twice whilst on holiday.

Just wanted to pop a quick word on as the Hind accommodated us on a rainy night when a night at the camp site was not appealing. There were 13 of us and they allowed us to use their private dining room which also had a skittle alley which adults and children loved - all at no cost. They could not have been more welcoming and we had a great night with some good food. Fabulous.

We had the pleasure of being introduced to The Hind on a Land Rover 4x4 weekend in a field close by via Surrey 4x4. Couldn't have enjoyed the experience any more. Adrian and Emma were amazing and the food looked top notch. Roast potatoes and crackling came out mid afternoon on Sunday which saw us through till teatime. Highly recommended.

We found this lovely pub on campercation website. Would definitely recommend. Adrian and Emma were excellent hosts. The menu for evening meals had great choices. I had chicken ham and leek pie with fresh veg and my partner had chilli con carne burger and chips. Usual type menu that kids love. Busy clean friendly pub. Adrian opened toilets for us to use in the morning as we stayed in our camper in their carpark. They opened at 9 for breakfast too. Couldn't fault our stay. Thank you Adrian and Emma .

This is a great local pub. We were travelling through and stayed overnight in their car park. We ate and drank in the pub. Emma and Adrian were so welcoming and could not do enough for us. Whilst they have a dinning room we ate in the bar with the locals. Fabulous friendly, traditional atmosphere. Thank you so much guys we certainly recommend!

Our first visit to this delightful village pub. The landlord & lady were very freindly & accommodating. We have a well behaved puppy which was no problem. We both went for Guinness ale & mushroom pie with fresh veg, absolutely spot on . Beer selection good. Will definitely revisit. Can't recommend this homely little gem highly enough. Came down to stay with family from Manchester in musbury at Airbnb, booked a table at the hind, we had a young puppy with us and this was her first time in a pub! The staff were excellent, we explained and they allowed us to move into a large private dining room away from the bar to settle the dog down. They brought her treats and really made us feel welcome. The local real ales were plentiful and very very well kept. The food was absolutely delicious, all clearly home made, good portion sizes and all deliciously cooked and presented. The licensee and his partner were excellent hosts, attentive polite and very helpful. So good we booked a table the next morning for breakfast, which was also absolutely delicious with fantastic local produce, the eggs were the most beautiful golden colour and tasted amazing, the he excellent breakfast was in my opinion exceptionally good value given the evident high quality of the produce. All round a really excellent place to go

Proper old country pub. Nice small menu so making a decision is really easy. Staff are amazing with disabled people too and are always happy to help those who need it.

A convenient stop for lunch, we ate outside, we had Scampi & chips and the Turkey roast. Both dishes were very good and we enjoyed them.

Wow!!!! Never judge a book by its cover!! We've been to this pub several times ut never had a meal here. This particular Sunday we decided to do exactly that. Thank god we did. Beef roast and all the trimmings fir £13? Yep!!!! Superb quality sliced Beef Rump cooked perfectly. All the trimmings consisted of Parsnip, swede, fine beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and roast potatoes 😍7......yes 7 different vegetables. It was so good that we went for the desert risking a gut bust but it was fabulous. Please, stop and try it. We'll done everyone at the Hind

Excellent food, great service and most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend but phone first to make sure of a table. In the nice weather you can eat outside in the fresh air.

With a car park, or 5-10 mins walk from Musbury church, we chose ‘The Hind’ for food and refreshments for ~ 24 people following a family funeral. Very generous and varied supply of food which was well received. Special thanks for accommodating the vegan & vegetarian requirements of some of my family.

Excellent South Devon pub and restaurant situated at Musbury, midway between Axminster and Seaton. Large menu plus a specials board with a good selection of wines, beers and lagers. With genial hosts Adrian and Emma, a lovely pub for a lunchtime or evening meal. They cater for celiacs, vegetarians and vegans. Meals only served Thursday to Saturday.

What a fabulous find absolutely love this pub they were only doing pork baps for the band but great quality pork will come back for a roast! Wonderful landlord and landlady will be returning as soon as possible.

Absolutely my favourite pub in the area. Wonderful locals, staff and landlord/landlady friendly and helpful passing on lots of information about the local area. The food was tip top pub grub, and have heard great things about their roast dinners. Good beer and gin selection too. Will definitely return!

I found The Hind via the CAMRA app.. Well, it is not posh, BUT The selection of ales is very good, the landlady just brilliant and the food excellent. I had the Hind burger and my wife the small sausages and mash with a good selection of veg. Thank you!

We always enjoy good, fresh cooked food at the Hind. The staff are lovely and welcoming, we can take our dog and our grandchildren and feel welcomed. The only downside is we can only go when we are on holiday.

Visited for a Sunday lunch for my mother’s 80th birthday. Fabulous meal (my son, who is something of a connoisseur, said the chocolate brownie was the best he’s ever had…including the excellent ones made by his mum!). Very good value and one of the best...

Wow! What a great little find. Lovely owners who made us feel really welcome. The burger was with proper beef no rubbish, served with really good chips and a nice side salad. The soup, and children's food was excellent too. Great real ale and a very good pudding to finish. We will definitely be back. Tha k you for a lovely evening.

Sunday lunch was superb. Turkey and beef were cooked to perfection. Vegetables were plentiful cooked just so tasty. Great service as always. Beer always kept so well.

What an excellent pub. Popped in for a couple of pints during the day last week - could have happily stayed much longer. Food looked great, 3 well kept (and changing) beers (ale) plus the usual selection of other pub drinks. Emma & Adrian are very welcoming hosts, and together with friendly locals and comfortable surroundings makes this a place not to be missed. Also open for breakfasts on Saturday morning. Am looking forward to returning soon.

This was the first time I had visited The Hind. The Owners were very friendly & welcoming, no rush for us to choose from the menu or Specials Board. Couldn’t fault the food at all, large portions, piping hot & very nicely presented. Leave room...

We treated ourselves to breakfast on Saturday. It was smashing. First class ingredients expertly prepared and served. We couldn’t have been happier.

We were staying down in Hawkchurch for a friend's wedding and were recommended The Hind by the staff at our hotel to eat at - wow it was one of the best recommendations ever! The service and welcome from the staff at The Hind is absolutely lovely, such nice people and a friendly warm cosy atmosphere. We had some drinks while our table was being prepared and when we ordered the food that arrived was so delicious - unlike any pub food we'd ever had. So yummy and enjoyable, the service was fantastic all the way through and the staff as mentioned are the nicest genuine people. Can't wait to hopefully visit at some point in the future again.
