The Greyhound Inn in Taunton Deane

We had a delightful 4 night stay at The Greyhound Inn Staple Fitzpaine being an ideal base to visit Hestercombe Gardens, NT places Lytes Cary, Barrington, Montacute and Fleet Air Arm Museum all within an easy 30mins drive away with lots more in the area to explore if you have the time. We had a lovely quiet sleep in the converted old skittle alley with all mod cons with a great breakfast and dinner choice all cooked to perfection and to top it off the most friendly staff members you could wish to meet.

Each time we holiday in Buckland St Mary, we always choose the Greyhound for evening meals. Fabulous service delicious food and a great ambience.

Food good but limited menu for people with intolerances.

Food was OK, nothing special, the Ploughmans that I ordered was basic. The staff was too interested in what their calleagues were doing, the waitress had to ask me 3 times what I wanted to order

Stopped off on the way home today for a drink and hopefully our dinner. Very warm and welcoming reception. Advised to order our food sooner rather than later due to a busy night ahead. Food was ordered and we received delicious burgers, one was a beef and the other halloumi, very delicious. Probably the best burger and chips I have had for a long time. We will definitely return in the future. Beautiful pub in a beautiful village. Excellent service.

Had a 2 night stay here, dinner was amazing, the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had 👍 10/10 would definitely stay here again. Staff helpful and friendly.

Really enjoyed our visits to The Greyhound.Stayed in Buckland St Mary this became our go too on way back from day out !! Lovely Friendly Staff,Food was excellent we ate twice, went to the pub on way back on all 4days of our stay in the area. Just a great Pub loved the outside areas very well kept,,clean and tidy just around Great Pub!!Thank You

Stayed at this lovely inn for few days whilst visiting somerset, wonderful venue meals were great staff very pleasant especially Karen on breakfast service she was very cheerful and helpful with attractions to visit. Definately recommend.

We fell upon this delightful public house quite by chance. What a great place, lovely landlord & staff. We had an amazing Sunday lunch. I had the delicious roast beef, my husband, the roast chicken, fresh quality ingredients very much in evidence. We shall be back!

Stopped off after dog walk for a quick drink. Service was quick and customers friendly with the dog! Good stopping point after a walk.

We went here on recommendations from a few local people while on holiday and it doesn't disappoint. Both of us had the steak with bacon jam gravy and it was brilliant, one of the best steaks I've eaten in some time. Highly recommend and would come back if I was in the area.

Extremely sweet staff. After walking there from Taunton they were very helpful and kind. Just a shame we missed lunchtime. Will be back!!

Visited on a monday night for food and the the restaurant was full which is always a good sign. Friendly service, great food and beer at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit!

Great place for an overnight. We wereon lur way to Cornwall and was just what we needed afyer a long drive. Great food lovely rooms and fab breakgast.

Only stopped in to have a pit stop and a drink. Sat in the beer garden. Lots of parking available, we were in our motorhome and had no issues. Really nice inside the pub. I think it would be lovely in the winter when they have their fire on.

This was the perfect stop on our way to Cornwall as an overnight stay.We were greeted warmly by the owner who was very pleasant and friendly.The beer garden was a delight after the long journey. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal melt in the mouth fresh battered fish with chips and a side salad and the sweets were homemade and to die for.I had coconut pannacotta with mango coulis and my husband had dutchapple pie. The room was lovely and the standard of cleanliness 1st class.The breakfast and staff were just perfect.Service excellent. Would definitely stay here again.We highly recommend the Greyhound Inn Taunton - Staple Fitzpaine.

Wonderful popular old country pub with a lovely atmosphere. The food is fantastic. Plenty of seating inside and out but I recommend booking if you're eating.

Went as a group of 8 friends for a meal on Tuesday evening. Great service great atmosphere and great food. Highly recommended

Stayed overnight as a birthday treat along with a delicious dinner. This place never disappoints. Our room this time was a spacious king sized with a bath and shower. The bed linen is very good quality and that makes a difference for me. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty and they had even put up a Happy Birthday banner at our table. We will definitely return. The only improvements that I could suggest are perhaps coffee bags in the room with a selection of locally sourced biscuits.

Went for a Sunday roast which was lovely, however the kids menu did not include a roast, meaning we had to order a small roast adults portion which was double the price of the children’s menu. Then the desserts were also all adult portions. Not the best option for families with young children .

Lovely place nicely decorated. Lunch: excellent and good service. Had only lunches there. Definitely coming Back. Update 18/03/22. Still as good as every time I come for lunch. Delicious food and lovely people ! Highly recommend the place.

Wondered in mid service lunchtime, to a restaurant that was maybe 75% full, looking at numerous empty tables and were told there were no more covers and they couldn’t fit us in.

Had lunch here today. Superb!!!! Liver and bacon to die for. Bangers and mash smashing. Service was excellent, staff brilliant. Five star experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stayed here recently with a friend for a birthday treat, food & service were fabulous, great choice on the menu, delicious food, very good quality. The sticky toffee pudding was insane! Breakfast was also really delicious with plenty of choice. Service was very attentive, lovely bustly atmosphere. Only negative was a foul smelly drain in the bathroom, in fairness we did get moved having asked but my friend had to sleep on a rollaway bed which was uncomfortable as the alernative room was not a twin, love my friend but we didn’t fancy sharing a bed! Would return but not to stay.

Only popped in for lunch, but will definitely be going back, only four stars due to the lack of real cider.

Pre-Christmas meal with family. Lovely place, wonderful staff, food was delicious but unfortunately the gammon dish was a little 'bare' ... The other dishes were great!

Lovely food and atmosphere. Arrived and had to wait 1/2 hour but served us drinks whilst waiting. Menu was OK! Had batteted fish and chips with tartar sauce and peas. Husband had 3 pork sausages on pile of mash served with bacon jam hravy and seasonal vegetables. Dogs are allowed in restaurant area.

Beautiful country pub with a traditional interior and very good menu. Plenty of parking. Good access from Taunton

Visited three times in recent weeks Impossible to fault. Warm atnesphere friendly staff, good menu, car parking and outside space. Bar and dining areas both have discreet seating areas for that quiet drink or meal. Toilets clean

Amazing food and really good sized portions, staff always friendly and there is always a really nice atmosphere in the pub. Becoming one of our favourite places to eat!

Just had a great lunch. The food menu was very extensive and the pub is open every day all day. The indoors areas are very varies with lots of private areas to have a quiet meal and drink. The outside area has plenty of seats and sunny. The staff were very helpful and informative. Will be back soon.

Wonderful roast. Very rarely do I enjoy a good roast at a pub as I get spoilt at home. This Inn however has great service, and could not fault this lunch. Big portions, crisp roasties, tender beef, vegetables cooked. Normally hate cabbage at pubs as is it's normally boiled to death. But even this was tasty. Only one problem is you'll be lucky to get a walk-in table for Sunday lunch as it's so popular and I can understand why

Lovely place for food. Food was fab, good portions, decent prices. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Roads a bit narrow in places to reach this inn.

Stopped over here on the way to Sennen Cove Cornwall, great room and great food too, recommended.

Our Wedding venue My wife & I would like to personally thank the staff, chef, landlady & landlord for all of their hard work, professionalism, friendly advice in overcoming Covid restrictions, recommending options and services, that gave our new family, many joyous happy memories to take with us into our married life. Our honeymoon took us to many highly regarded 4 and 5 star hotels around the west country, we found the accommodation, service, cuisine delivered at the Greyhound, to be equivalent and in some cases superior. Cannot recommend highly enough, will be returning. for our anniversary. for sure!

A lovely place to unwind, out in the country with no hustle and bustle of our usual life style . Internet connection not brilliant which suited us . a great escape place ! staff were all lovely as were the rooms .highly recommended
