The New Inn in West Dorset

The Faulty Towers dining experience was just that. Brilliant. A beautiful 3-course meal (80 covers delivered at the same time). Drinks ordered in advance so we didn’t miss a minute of fun. One of our party had their birthday that day and they made an “appropriate” fuss of him. A night to remember. Would highly recommend it. The owner is holding at least 2 more of these experiences…well worth £65 per person.

Booked a 2 night stay. The room was spacious and clean. A comfortable bed, good shower and products. Tea making facilities with extras eg biscuits and chocolates. Breakfast was included and excellent, lots of choice. The bar well stocked. Every member of staff were very friendly and helpful. We got some great advice on the local area from them.

We went for a Faulty Towers dining experience and had an amazing evening. Despite serving 80 guests the food was hot and perfectly cooked. Needless to say the entertainment was excellent and we would do it again

I loved my stay at this pub! I regularly have to visit Weymouth for work and for the first time the New Inn came into budget so I booked it straight away. It was the best night away I've had for a long time and I have to do business trips and stay away regularly The pub itself is beautiful and traditional with plenty of parking at the back. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. My room wasn't huge but it had a nice big bed and shower which for me on my own was perfect. The room had everything I needed. The only flaw was that more water poured outside of the shower head than through it, as there must have been a loose connection. So if the shower head was replaced it would make a huge difference. Dinner and breakfast were great. There's a huge amount of choice for all menus including drinks and everything is of great quality. I am due to visit Weymouth again over the next few months but unfortunately with the season ramping up this place is now out of budget which I am gutted about. So if you can stay or dine at the New Inn then just do it!!

Today we had my dad's 80th birthday celebration would like to say a very big thankyou to all the staff for an excellent service and absolutely gorgeous food and for making a booking for 19 people so easy and enjoyable would fully recommend the new inn for an excellent meal and service made so welcome by such lovely staff thankyou all so much

Room was warm and comfortable. Plenty of choice of hot drinks and biscuits. The breakfast was lovely and staff pleasant.

Lovely local pub with really nice rooms and good food.

Only ate, didn’t stay. A fantastic location in a lovely village. There were 15 of us; the food was outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be eating at The New Inn again.

We went for the Christmas meal and it was delicious.

Very welcoming staff. Excellent food both for breakfast and evening meals. Room was clean and comfortable. All in all a great three night stay. Would definitely recommend.

Pub dinner- Just returned from the new inn pub. First visit, but not our last for sure. 3 x diners all left very pleased with the venue, great staff, and excellent menu. We had Angus burger and lamb burger, and we all enjoyed them. Very tasty and filling. Thank you.

Sorry I cannot rate the room yet cause I haven't tried checking in there. I only rate the food and table service they have offer. The food was excellent 👌 good valued of money, service was fantastic good. Friendly and efficient ..Best recommended for a romantic dining or group diner out or celebrations. Food was amazingly good

A hidden gem. This place has amazing food. We spoke to the chef who was very humble told us the lamb and pork was raised locally. We will be going again, and again

So I went today for a carvery with hubby and friends after visiting Weymouth motor cross on a cold and windy day. However we found this beautiful pub and hat a wonderful little find we found. Stunning views location is divine. We were greeted by the landlord who provided a warm welcome at the entrance who showed us to our table. His lovely wife then came over who introduced herself what wonderful customer service. We were delighted to be handed a choice of menus and all table service which is absolutely fantastic. The team were all very good and such polite staff all round. It’s nice to have your drinks brought to the table and not expected to go to the bar as precious time chatting with family and friends is precious. Can’t wait to come back we travelled from Southampton today and will travel again

What a lovely find , I was trying to find a hotel with a walk in shower for my mother in law . The staff were so helpful with the questions I was asking whilst booking a room for the night which included a lovely breakfast in the morning . We had a fantastic evening meal aswell served with such professionalism and friendly staff throughout . Food was delicious 😋 I would definitely recommend the New Inn and will be returning. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable sadly only for 1 night though

Love it. We’re catching an Old English Truffle Hunt from here. Really enjoy the clean, remodeled rooms. The lamp rump dinner was amazing and the bar staff, checkin and waiter were excellent. One thing to know…. You can’t check-in before 5:30 pm or even get into the building. We were fortunate not to arrive too early.

Last time we were in this area, we stayed at their sister property, The Black Dog, and had really enjoyed it so decided to give The New Inn a try for this visit. The Inn has a great vista overlooking the fields. The accommodation is towards the rear of the building with separate access. Our room was quite spacious with an ensuite bathroom. Both clean and comfortable. We stayed for two nights and had dinner in the restaurant on both nights. The food was very good and our servers on both nights were lovely. Breakfast was included and was most enjoyable. The bar seems to have a good selection of beers, wine and spirits. I can certainly recommend The New Inn for a lovely stay.

Highly recommend staying here! The room was huge, clean, bright, and sunny, with great views. The food was well above what one would expect in pug grub. The breakfast menu was impressive! The restaurant was full of locals enjoying the great food, which is always a good sign. The staff was pleasant, helpful, and professional. I will happily stay here again if I am in the area.

Very convenient for the coast, and also for the sculpture by the lake garden. This is a delightful country inn with comfortable beds, good rooms, and delightful food and drink in the pub.. an excellent breakfast served exactly as we requested, indeed chef went above and beyond to give us exactly what we needed. Good, comfortable, cosy.

Booked a stay as we were visiting the nearby Tank Museum and was very pleasantly surprised. Super quaint location backed up by very cosy rooms and out of this world food. Ordered from both the specials and classics menu, and everything was phenomenal. Large range of breakfast options and we were incredibly lucky to be there for the Sunday carvery, which was amazing. Can't thank the staff enough for making our family stay so special.

Loved our stay here, great location in village setting, ideal for walker etc but also within easy reach of all other amenities and attractions. Staff were amazing, rooms great size, lovely and clean , just what we needed

Great little b n b the rooms are expected what you pay for , could do with a little more attention to cleaning. The bar is reasonably priced for a village pub. The food is amazing. To finish off this review we would like to thank all the staff for exceptional service polite and friendly.

Brilliant Sunday lunch with friends

Peaceful, relaxing, great service, beautiful views across the countryside, and in a small quiet little village.

Typical English pub, the only meeting point for the community of this very small village in the south west of Great Britain. Found by chance, but a destination to include among the most evocative ever visited

Really good pub food, with some good choices available, reasonable value. Staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive.

As if you have ended up in an English series, this is what the village and the surrounding area look like. No new construction. Very calm. The hotel is a beautiful old building, well maintained. Rooms are comfortable, just a bit low, but it is also an old building. The food is good and the staff is friendly and very service oriented. Recommended

Came with my partner and dog for an evening meal on a Friday. We were looking forward to it as the reviews looked good and were quite hungry from walking around the local area most of the day. We had to sit in the bar/pool area near the men’s toilets due to us bringing the dog. Quite an old fashioned stance but fine. We were hoping for a nice range of local-ish ales and ciders. Instead the choice was average at best, stocking only the bigger brands. The food was fine but tasted like a lot of the ingredients were from the cash and carry. Quite an unimaginative menu. We left around £50 lighter for 2 x ciders and 2 main meals. This wasn’t good value for money in our opinion.

Today I regret that I have, reviewed my review and changed it from 5* to 2* after ordering the New Inn Aberdeen Angus burger topped with BBQ pulled pork which I recommend for my daughter's lunch for her birthday, and was given a beef burger with bacon and cheese, which I didn't want, and just to be told sorry menu changed 5 days ago, Well take it off the board then or let your customer know it's changed, And to make things worse, to make things right chef said he'll give us a bigger portion next time. I didn't like it . I wouldn't order again

Fraternal meeting followed by dinner - decent grub but a bit pricey (or am I just a stingy Scotsman?).

Very recommended inn if you are visiting the area. There is plenty of space in the car park. The staff is very professional and they treat clients with diligence. They were waiting for us for the check in, acompanied us to the bedroom and gave us the key. The room was very clean and well decorated. It was nice to see how much LOVE they put in every single detail with flowers, chocolates, folding the towels and the toiletries. The coffee station was full and apart of cow milk It was also oats. Amazing! The restaurant was also very good as everything was very tasty. Breakfast was included in the price and we really enjoyed.

Great meal, we both had the pulled pork burger and blood orange sorbet to follow, it was divine. Staff were all quite rapturous.

Comfortable rooms and great food, ideally located for exploring the Dorset coast. Will definitely stay here again, was here on business for this visit but would happily use as a base for seeing the Dorset countryside.

Great food, fantastic flavours, fair prices. No Internet on my phone at the pub but you can log into their WiFi network.

Went for a surprise meal with my parents. The staff were so accommodating. Mum was in a wheelchair and they moved heaven and earth (well tables and chairs) to ensure she was comfortable. Food was good quality and very reasonable. We booked to return during the busy Christmas period, and they were very helpful again, assisting in the choice of tables and the best place to sit taking her needs into consideration. Unfortunately we did not make it back, but we are looking forward to making a visit in the New Year 😀

Sunday lunch carvery exceptional - beef to die for & am told that every other meat is good 😀 ; veg & potatoes aswell as choice all A1 👍.

I can't comment on the rooms as we only went for the Sunday carvery. The pub itself was Lovely. Very clean and tidy with lots of space around each table. The food was well cooked, hot and delicious just one little moan........I do like stuffing with my Pork 🥩

Lovely b&b with a nice staff in a pretty village. Value for money.

I can only judge based on my personal experience and this one wasn’t a pleasant one. Having been up at 0400 I was in bed at 21.45. I was placed in a room directly above the bar. There were a group of guys below enjoying a drink, as you do and having a laugh, as you do, this kept me awake. I popped down and asked for a room transfer as they may as well have been sat on the bottom of my bed. I was told there were no other rooms, fair enough, but the guy then, whilst I was walking past the group asked them to be quiet as there disturbing the guest, true but could have been done when I had gone. The A/c pictured is a nightmare as it chillers for the beers and they run on and off all night. Rooms under the arch would be ideal but above the bar (family room) avoid if you want to sleep. Oh and when I couldn’t sleep I tried to watch the tv, which strangely had two remotes, well as you can see the signal was not there. For the money spent I’d expect the very basics here (Sleep). On the plus side, great shower, pleasant clean room and lovely breakfast. But I won’t be staying here again

Great place in a nice country pub. room very spacious and comfortable. excellent freshly cooked breakfast and a very nice pub and garden to enjoy a drink or two before going to sleep.
