booked to stay here for a weekend in the cotswolds, i requested for my dog to stay and was told flat out no, i had to return my dog home which was over a two hour round trip as we was already away. when i explained this the lady on the phone she wouldn’t help or pass onto management, she barely acknowledged the conversation at all - she claimed it was to do with allergies but when we turned up, to our surprise the hotel had 5 dogs running around in the reception area, sat on seats for people etc and we were asked “did you bring your dog along?” as if all was well? i was upset by this as we had just driven all the way home and back and we wouldn’t of minded but.. i was allowed to fuss every dog in sight inside the hotel and then go to my room.. where i then would of passed on fur/dog fluff. so the allergy reason was a bit of a rubbish excuse, we really was disappointed with the hypocrisy and it really ruined our weekend away if i’m honest. the room was adequate, a little dated but it seemed fitting to the countryside. the breakfast was fantastic, offered a veggie breakfast too which was honestly great. gentleman who served us breakfast was lovely. the area is very very quiet, expect to in bed by 9 if you’re not going to venture into witney, CN or oxford. taxis are 20-30£ one way out the town from here almost.

Went to Bumbles this weekend and left with some amazing produce! With help from the lovely owner/chef, Sally, I picked out some homemade goodies from the deli counter for dinner and a really nice bottle of Prosecco. I would definitely recommend visiting the store as there is so much choice, it’s a treasure trove of gourmet food/confectionery. Will be back again soon!

When we have been here in the past its always been great but our family meal on Christmas eve was a terrible experience. My father-in-law booked a late table for 3pm due to family logistics. This, in hindsight was probably a mistake as we were rushed from the get go to sit and order as quickly as possible. We should have expected the same level of service as the other diners but the staff clearly wanted us to leave as quickly as possible. This could have been forgiven if the food had been up to it usual standard but it was far from it. Firstly the menu (if you could call it that) was extremely limited and ranged from expensive to very expensive. If you didn't want to spend £35 on a steak then it was a choice of a burger or a vegetarian celeriac steak. I went for the burger @ £16 and it was probably one of the worst burgers I have ever eaten and I'm including McDonald's in that statement. It was quite literally thrown onto a plate with no care or garnish of any kind. It was also dry, overcooked and rubbery. There was an overpowering and frankly not pleasant taste of harissa. The slightly undercooked fries were served separately not individually but for a "help yourself free for all". We had to repeatedly ask for napkins and sauces. We were brought a tiny ramekin of mayonnaise between 6 of us and when we asked for more we were told they had run out. How the hell do you run out of mayonnaise? My dessert (again, a tiny choice of crumble of brownie) was the apple crumble and was served Luke warm at best with about a tablespoon of uncooked sugar and crumble mix thrown on top. I felt very sorry for my father in law as he paid for this terrible meal as our family Christmas get together. I certainly wouldn't have paid for this food and service. The chefs here should be ashamed of themselves. In this day and age of covid upsetting the industry then I would say this place isn't going to last long as other restaurants have far higher standards of food and service in the area. Shame. It used to be nice.

Amazing Tapas and service. What a superb eating experience, Best Tapas we have eaten, food was cooked to perfection and the presentation was excellent. Our dinning experience was perfectly made by the professional and friendly staff, Lindsey and Charlotte. Both extremely knowledgeable of the food and drinks. We will be returning many more times. The cafe is not cheap, but then where is these days! We enjoyed coffee and cake, the cake was a decent size but the coffee although nice is served in cheap cups- like the ones in a premier inn. What is nice is the atmosphere, there are loads of wooden tables surrounded by lots of plants and a lovely cottage effect. Relaxing for an afternoon break. The garden centre is full of lovely home decorations, garden furniture and clothes, unfortunately very pricey.

Having seen the restaurant’s picture on the website, we thought that it looked to be a comfortable place to have lunch but it wasn’t open on a weekday so we ate at a large table in the entrance area. But as it happened that was probably all to the good since our 2 grandchildren were able to have much more freedom, and the food was excellent. The celeriac soup was luscious, the confit duck very tasty and apple/berry/ginger crumble was excellent. What is more all these dishes were suitable for those who could not eat gluten. Perhaps the only downside was that the small dishes (vegetables, custard) could have been warmer. Did I mention the friendly and helpful staff? We should certainly like to eat at The Lamb Inn again, hopefully this time in the restaurant.

We booked this last minute as the other hotel we stayed at was absolutely disgusting. We read some reviews after we had booked, so wasn’t expecting much. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young man from behind the bar. He was very polite and informative and told us everything we needed to know. Now, the venue no longer does food as far as I’m aware. They do provide breakfast which was very nice indeed. They have two sister pubs within walking distance that will give 10% off if you show your room key. We stayed in the robin room which is next to the pubs small car park. The room was quite spacious with a good size bathroom. It was clean and equipped with a tv, kettle, iron and board and a hairdryer. We would happily stay there again.
