Popped into Mrs Bumbles for a spot of lunch, had a lovely sandwich and scotch egg. Sally told me all about the lovely local cheeses and we took a few home with us to try. Will be back when I'm back in Burford next time.

Went to Bumbles this weekend and left with some amazing produce! With help from the lovely owner/chef, Sally, I picked out some homemade goodies from the deli counter for dinner and a really nice bottle of Prosecco. I would definitely recommend visiting the store as there is so much choice, it’s a treasure trove of gourmet food/confectionery. Will be back again soon!

I came here looking for a sandwich, little did I know it would be as hairy as the owners minging dog. I had a coronation chicken sandwich and in the middle was a clump of hair. When I was being served the ~60 year old woman sneezed + didn’t have any gloves on. Horrendous customer service for such an empty shop. Would NOT recommend.

I stopped here on the way through to Oxford for some light snacks and ended up leaving with an entire basket of delightful goods that had obviously been thoughtfully stocked from local producers from around the Cotswolds. The owner, Sally was incredibly friendly and helped me pick a local selection of cheeses as a gift for my partner. I told her I had to run as I needed to drive to Oxford and she so thoughtfully made me the most delicious coronation chicken roll (on a soft brioche bun) that i’ve ever tasted in my life. I want that recipe! This is a truly authentic delicatessen. Thank you Sally! I can’t wait to return to restock on the cheese, craft beer & pasta. my partner and I loved it! Kindest regards, Martin

Visited for some items for a deli supper. We wanted pies and savouries which had to be served counter style. We stood there being completely ignored by three staff members. I honestly don’t know why people who enjoy cooking think they can make a living out of it when their disdain for people is all to clear to see. My husband said “Shall we just go?” and at that point someone was directed to serve us. Customer service comes from the top, and relying on anything else will catch you out every time. I can report the pork pie was the worst I’ve ever had.

It's a local shop but they have crammed it full of local produce and lots of different kinds of foods beyond the 'expected' fudge and shortbread offer. They had some very tempting chocolates as well as deli items and many many different kinds of sauces etc. It's located at the bottom end of the hill but well worth popping into this shop if you are visiting the village.

It’s a long time since I have witness such appalling customer service. No one but us in the shop. Made to wait while a very rude women had better things to do. On finally being spoken to in what I can only say was a nasty manner the Scotch Eggs bought were grossly over priced. Let’s just hope they taste nice. We would have spent a lot more money in the store as it had lots of lovely stock hence the one star. I felt so sorry for the young lady working along side what we assume was the owner. Thankfully much better service in the Burford Farm shop further up road.

Absolutely awful we took our business to other more friendly local Businesses in Burford. The owner is very aggressive and no one in there has a clue how to treat people and how to manage business in a pandemic. One of the other shop owners in Burford who was amazing told us that when she took over she went to her and other shop owners and told them what they couldn’t sell. She seriously needs to assess her customer service or change career. But thank you to the rest of the businesses in Burford for an amazing festive trip xxx

I visited on Saturday and tried to buy 2 coffees. I was ignored by the person who appears (after reading all these dreadful reviews) to be the owner. The other lady on the till became involved in making 1 coffee for a customer who required oat milk. It was like a farcical comedy sketch from the 70's. After 10 minutes of being ignored by the lady in the corner and watching Mrs Overall bumbling along making the longest coffee ever, I suggested we leave but my other half suggested we be patient. Another 5 minutes and I gave up. Mrs Bumbles is a very apt title as its a shambles of a shop and the bumbling assistant taking 15 minutes to make one coffee is beyond acceptable. But what makes it worse is realising the owner was the one watching it all happen but choosing to ignore the farce and me whilst I waited. Anyone who behaves like this deserves to go under and I don't say that lightly in the middle of a pandemic. If you don't value customers, don't run a shop. Simple

Well reading previous reviews, at least I know not to take the shockingly awful service personally!! I came in with my elderly father, his query on leaving "Is there a reason why that "Lady" gave me a filthy look?" The woman in charge was in the simplest terms extremely unpleasant to everyone. She completely ignored me as I stood waiting and then finally said abruptly "What do you want??" I guess we were dispensing with pleasantries! I ordered a sausage roll and as I was still ordering drinks she turned away. We appeared to incur her wrath by asking for cream in the coffee. "NO, I won't serve that. Well I could but it costs £2 and it would be wasted if I open it." Really - you could possibly try a fridge? I probably would have paid an extra £2 for the cream for my father but it definitely was not on offer. This was one extremely angry shopkeeper. She may have saved £2 but she lost a sale of a bottle of gin that I was looking at. If you love Burford then you can have great customer service in Huffkins or Burford Garden Centre. There is no excuse for treating your customers like dirt. To do that to me was pretty poor form but to upset my elderly father was disgusting. I hope people vote with their feet and shop elsewhere.

I just love this delicatessen. There are always delicious quiches, pies and other freshly baked goods available. The shelves are filled with delicious home made jams, relish, fruits, sweets and treats. I heard that my first review didn't go down well and I was asked to go back. Fair enough, I wanted to, maybe I'd had a few unlucky experiences. I walked in trying to buy two filled baguettes. The shop was dead, with 2 other customers: a couple and an elderly regular. I waited to order, understanding that other people needed to be served first. I had a stop-watch timer active on my phone. Not because I was seeking to quantify any kind of wait-time for the purpose of a lame TA review, just because I was on my 30min lunch break from work which I always time on my iPhone. After waiting 10 minutes I still wasn't looking to cause a problem. I smiled at the lady - she said, very politely and a little stressed, "I'll be with you in a minute". I decided to leave as I could tell it was going to take a while (I had been listening to what the other customers were ordering: bespoke oil/vinegar bottles, fair play). I find the place stressful. 10 minutes is too long to wait in the competitive world of 2015 and I was far from being served. Businesses need to be able to SMASH through customers and keep the till buzzing. You can't expect one member of staff to manage the ice cream, deli counter, baguettes, shop, coffee, prep etc even if it is just a week day. That's what causes the stressful feeling. I want to be a regular.

Upon my first visit, I ordered the hummus baguette to be told "I haven't got around to making hummus yet". I assume she forgot the "sorry" part. The second time, again, there was no hummus. Maybe hummus is boring to make? Third time lucky: I thought I'd order a Coronation Chicken baguette - a favourite! (but not to be confused with Coronation Street, also a favourite). This time a younger, kinder, girl said "we have run out of chicken!" ...That was when I gave up. But it's the general feeling of not being sorry, and the bluntness I can't stand. If they were any more Blunt, they'd be singing You're Beautiful. Anyway, Mrs Bumbles is not for me any more, but I'm sure others will love it. When you can get one, have a filled baguette as they are great! P.S. Once we smiled and nodded to say hello to the lady, and she looked at us and ignored us. This made me sad.

Three phone conversations with the hotel management eventually confirmed that a Sunday roast could be obtained in the Terrace resturant. A table for 7 was booked and confirmed. On arrival the Terrace resturant was set up for a wedding ceremony. No other dining tables were apparent. On querying this with bar staff we were abruptly told "not our problem".Eventually found a deputy manager who set about laying up a dining table amongst the wedding guests ! Meanwhile we tried other local venues but couldn't get in within our timescale. We eventually sat for our anticipated Sunday lunch in a crowded golf club bar surrounded by a multitude of wedding guests. The food was obviously recently pulled out of the freezer, looked and tasted same ! HOPELESS !!We recommend training for front of house management in the art of coordination and courtesy for members of the bar staff.

When a business contact of mine from London told me he would be visiting Witney, of course I wanted to meet up with him. But also I wanted to impress him and show him the best that Witney ha to offer. When I booked dinner at The Three Horseshoes I was confident that my contact would have a great evening, and it was absolutely the right choice. As soon as he arrived he commented on how amazing the pub was, and how he loved the atmosphere and the log burner too. Our dinner was fantastic and even though the place was busy, the speed or service and the attentiveness of the team was brilliant. They were there when we needed them, and left us to get on with our business conversation the rest of the time. For impressing a really important contact from London - The Three Horseshoes was exactly the right choice and what is SO brilliant is that it is also the perfect choice for a quiet pint or to meet up with friends too.

It isn’t that often I visit The Windmill, but I know the place well enough to know something is very different. There was a different aura in the air today. I didn’t recognise any of the staff members, and whilst they seemed like a large family, they were all unique and discombobulated in their own ways. I must start with some high praise - we were greeted very kindly by a lovely tall Irish lady with a beaming smile. Whilst very busy, she was also very accompanying and allowed us to buy a few of their home-made pint glasses (which she said she wasn’t supposed to do). Hats off to her for the hospitality. Sadly things took a slight turn for the worse whilst we were seated. It was only myself and my partner ordering some pub grub, however, after a brief conversation with the waiter it was quickly apparent that some kind of knowledge barrier prevented us from ordering exactly what we wanted. I have a suspicion this older gentleman was a distinguished chef from years gone by, because there wasn’t a single word I understood in his recommendations. Embarrassingly, we decided to opt for a few beers at the bar before ordering food instead. I must admit, that was a saving grace, for their homemade beer ‘Hawkstone’ was divine. The bartender was full of dry wit which added to a great atmosphere amongst the other guests. He has that familiar family friendly humour, like you wouldn’t be surprised to see him on TV! Not only was the beer exceptional in quality, the slight intoxication seemed to clear up some of the brain fog I was experiencing earlier, since the waiter suddenly seemed to made a lot more sense! So, we finally ordered our meal and enjoyed some local produce - again, simply divine. Despite the great tastes and atmosphere, I couldn’t help but feel the service was jeopardised by the initial language barrier. As such, I did ask the waiter if we could remove our service charge. I should add, this was a new waiter at the time, a dreary English chap who wasn’t impressed with our request. Whilst his thorough and detailed lecture around why a service charge holds such an important role in the overarching finance of the food industry, I tried to hold my ground and get this removed from the bill. It was only after we realised my partner had been asleep for 8 minutes that we sped things up, paid the bill with a 50/50 compromise on the service charge, and got ourselves out of there. All in all, I’d recommend the establishment because, despite some teething problems and unorthodox scenarios, the people are genuine and the food/drink is exceptional. Just keep an eye out for those tractors (given the rural area) - a young man with curly blonde hair had completely blocked my car in so we had to wait half an hour to leave!

Issues with the meal potatoes were terrible and Eton mess was not roast great at all. Second time we have been here and still we would only give the meal 5 out of ten

Good lunch selection. Very nice salads and a good choice of panini. It’s not very clear when you go in what to do if you want to sit inside to eat as all the boards are headed up as takeaway menus. The seating area is really just there to eat the takeaway - so order what you’d like and then take it through to eat. It might be good to make this clearer for customers especially when it’s busy. Overall though the food and coffee were delicious so well worth a lunch stop.
