When a business contact of mine from London told me he would be visiting Witney, of course I wanted to meet up with him. But also I wanted to impress him and show him the best that Witney ha to offer. When I booked dinner at The Three Horseshoes I was confident that my contact would have a great evening, and it was absolutely the right choice. As soon as he arrived he commented on how amazing the pub was, and how he loved the atmosphere and the log burner too. Our dinner was fantastic and even though the place was busy, the speed or service and the attentiveness of the team was brilliant. They were there when we needed them, and left us to get on with our business conversation the rest of the time. For impressing a really important contact from London - The Three Horseshoes was exactly the right choice and what is SO brilliant is that it is also the perfect choice for a quiet pint or to meet up with friends too.

Would say that this pub nice. Prices in my opinion are higher than what the foods worth. I’m sure I will get a reply talking about the cost of living ect. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was top tier with a nice ambiance and good vibes. I think they should drop the prices by 10% and the fact that they serve a service charge on top of this but are providing normal pub service through me off but we paid it nethertheless. Beyond this I would say it’s nice and worth a visit but the quality of food does not match the prices. Was not a huge fan of the cold chicken tikka sandwich filler. It wasn’t stated as cold or that it was going to be in mayo as apposed hot chicken tikka curry on a jacket. If I knew this I probably would have got something else and enjoyed my experience a little more and would have had nothing to complain about. Beyond this enjoyed this meal with my cousin.

Firstly we were greated by a young lady named Jess, she made us very comfortable and was kind, happy and very welcoming. We come for the Sunday roast. We were gifted the lunches. I think it was extremely kind of the 3 horseshoes to do this for us. The meal was so so good, we went for the chicken and vegetables. It was amazing. Even the carrots were delicious, I don't know what the chef did, but again it was all so good. We also had dessert, Eaton mess and home made apple crumble with home made custard. It was fantastic. As my daughter was sick and couldn't make the meal, Jess made up a meal and and dessert to take away. Honestly we had proper 5 star treatment. On the way out a very kind lady gave my boy a second cup of sweets. He was already made up from the sweets he ate. More sweets he said outside, I want to cry I'm so happy. Thank you to all at the 3 horseshoes for your kindness and for a lovely meal in a fantastically beautiful setting.

Genuinely one of the best meals out I’ve had in ages. Excellent food, service and a buzzing atmosphere. Loads of veggie options. We shared sourdough and hummus to start, generous portion and plenty for the two of us. The pie filling changed before we’d had a chance to order but the steak, ale and Stilton pie with chips and veg was outstanding. My friend had the cauliflower fritters with dahl. Delicious. Everything was piping hot, straight from the kitchen. Our server Jess was fantastic. It was a busy Saturday night and we were so impressed with every aspect of the meal. Lovely wine options. And very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to come back with a larger group. Keep it up team!

Visited for dinner, pub was quite busy, staff were very friendly and welcoming. the table was in a smallish corridor type room and the locals kept walking through it, out and in the whole time also there was no separation between the sitting area behind which was full of loud and quite drunken men who kept burping, swearing and speaking so loudly that I couldn’t hear our conversation and being honest we just wanted to leave as soon as we ate the meal and not stay for pudding because it was very off putting. The food was okay, was quite disappointed really on the quality and over all taste. We did not get a steak knife nor any cutlery so we had to take some of the empty table behind us.

I've been to the Horseshoes semi-regs for the last three years. I have witnessed first hand the worker uprising that turned into a beautiful story of staff based ownership, and I live for it. The food took a little while to find it's legs under the new ownership but their persistence has paid off, and they've hit the sweet spot of reasonably priced and solid production. The staff are really the highlights, always willing to help and with some of the nattiest dress sense you'll see this side of Paris.

Great spot for lunch. Chicken tikka sandwich was enormous, and the cheese and ham toastie was generously filled. Lunch was only marred by a couple complaining that the menu had changed and did not include what they had come in for. For clarity, this is stated on the website, as it's a seasonal menu. The full current menu is also posted by the front door, and there's plenty to choose from. But, this was all handled so well by the wait staff and manager, with patience and understanding. Lovely staff, genuinely dog friendly pub, and a nice pint. We'll see you again when we're next in Witney!

I booked for a party of 18 last Sunday. When we arrived they had squeezed us onto tables so small that we only managed because one person was unwell (so didn’t turn up) and after we asked them to bring another chair to put on the end of the table as there was just no way six of us would fit into the space provided. As they serve Sunday lunch on a Sunday we did not pre-order. To save the challenge of sorting the bill I asked if they would take orders for families. We were told no, as food would come out per bill, instead we were advised to order by each table (we had two). I told them this would not work as families were split across two tables. As I wanted us all served together, I said “never mind, just bill as one and I will sort.” As we ordered the waiter told me that one table had not ordered starters. I said okay just please serve mains together. Well of course they ignored my instructions. They served the starter, cleared it way, and after a quite long wait served the table without starters their main. They did not serve the second table their mains until at least ten minutes after the first table had finished their main, despite several prompts from me and a small disagreement with the waiter who insisted he had told me that he would not serve us as one party, despite booking as one! We insisted they bring deserts to us all at the same time. We waited so long for these that the two children on the first table were getting so distressed that we had to ask that they at least bring their deserts. Total disaster. We usually mix family members at each course. One person had driven from Birmingham for a 12:30 meal. In the end he left at 3:30 (as soon as we’d finished) without being to speak to many of us. If you are booking for a larger group I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was actually very nice, although the vegetables served to the second table were barely warm. I think the meals had been standing for several minutes. The waiter apologised and told me the manager would come to speak to me He chose not to.

We arrived with a lovely welcome and very accommodating staff. Food was great, well priced and delicious. We picked this venue for our Christmas dinner because it was the only place in town for an evening meal that didn't make you have a set menu, aan innflated set price or pre order on small groups! A major plus for me! They had a full on busy service but nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. When we needed to move from the restaurant for their second sitting, Tommy found us a great spot in The Corridor seating area where we were able to continue our evening, giving us table service for our drinks. Keep up what you're doing at The Horseshoes, it's working great!

First visit with friends since the change of management. Great welcome on a very wet Sunday, but a lovely log burner in the bar area. Although very busy, the service was excellent given with a friendly smile. Three of us had the beef and one the turkey, all cooked to perfection, all in all an excellent experience. Just a small thing and not a complaint, our table was at the front adjacent to the bar area, which was a little noisy, maybe the side dining areas are a little quieter for conversation? Our friends enjoyed the visit and so did we.

The food I can't fault , I had the fish and chips my only change would of been mushy peas instead of garden peas but that's personal preference 😉. The waitress I could tell she was new , she didn't ask my husband how he liked his steak we had too chase her back , we were offered no further drinks than the one we got when seated . Within 20 seconds of receiving food we were asked how it was , barely had chance to have a mouth full , maybe a bit more time too get into the meal. Three phone conversations with the hotel management eventually confirmed that a Sunday roast could be obtained in the Terrace resturant. A table for 7 was booked and confirmed. On arrival the Terrace resturant was set up for a wedding ceremony. No other dining tables were apparent. On querying this with bar staff we were abruptly told "not our problem".Eventually found a deputy manager who set about laying up a dining table amongst the wedding guests ! Meanwhile we tried other local venues but couldn't get in within our timescale. We eventually sat for our anticipated Sunday lunch in a crowded golf club bar surrounded by a multitude of wedding guests. The food was obviously recently pulled out of the freezer, looked and tasted same ! HOPELESS !!We recommend training for front of house management in the art of coordination and courtesy for members of the bar staff.

Good lunch selection. Very nice salads and a good choice of panini. It’s not very clear when you go in what to do if you want to sit inside to eat as all the boards are headed up as takeaway menus. The seating area is really just there to eat the takeaway - so order what you’d like and then take it through to eat. It might be good to make this clearer for customers especially when it’s busy. Overall though the food and coffee were delicious so well worth a lunch stop.

I didn’t recognise any of the staff members, and whilst they seemed like a large family, they were all unique and discombobulated in their own ways. I must start with some high praise - we were greeted very kindly by a lovely tall Irish lady with a beaming smile. Whilst very busy, she was also very accompanying and allowed us to buy a few of their home-made pint glasses (which she said she wasn’t supposed to do). Hats off to her for the hospitality. Sadly things took a slight turn for the worse whilst we were seated. It was only myself and my partner ordering some pub grub, however, after a brief conversation with the waiter it was quickly apparent that some kind of knowledge barrier prevented us from ordering exactly what we wanted. I have a suspicion this older gentleman was a distinguished chef from years gone by, because there wasn’t a single word I understood in his recommendations. Embarrassingly, we decided to opt for a few beers at the bar before ordering food instead. I must admit, that was a saving grace, for their homemade beer ‘Hawkstone’ was divine. The bartender was full of dry wit which added to a great atmosphere amongst the other guests. He has that familiar family friendly humour, like you wouldn’t be surprised to see him on TV! Not only was the beer exceptional in quality, the slight intoxication seemed to clear up some of the brain fog I was experiencing earlier, since the waiter suddenly seemed to made a lot more sense! So, we finally ordered our meal and enjoyed some local produce - again, simply divine. Despite the great tastes and atmosphere, I couldn’t help but feel the service was jeopardised by the initial language barrier. As such, I did ask the waiter if we could remove our service charge. I should add, this was a new waiter at the time, a dreary English chap who wasn’t impressed with our request. Whilst his thorough and detailed lecture around why a service charge holds such an important role in the overarching finance of the food industry, I tried to hold my ground and get this removed from the bill. It was only after we realised my partner had been asleep for 8 minutes that we sped things up, paid the bill with a 50/50 compromise on the service charge, and got ourselves out of there. All in all, I’d recommend the establishment because, despite some teething problems and unorthodox scenarios, the people are genuine and the food/drink is exceptional. Just keep an eye out for those tractors (given the rural area) - a young man with curly blonde hair had completely blocked my car in so we had to wait half an hour to leave!

Issues with the meal potatoes were terrible and Eton mess was not roast great at all. Second time we have been here and still we would only give the meal 5 out of ten

Unwelcoming from the staff. Afternoon tea was limited to one very small pot of tea person with only 4 choices of tea. Egg mayo and salmon in tiny rolls and pureed! One delicious coronation chicken finger sandwich but then an unappetising cucumber and mint one. The rolls were tiny. Scones were nice. Cakes also tiny. People who wanted to take cakes home were provided with boxes meant for wraps. Not value for money and not the pleasant experience we had two years ago.
