The cafe is not cheap, but then where is these days! We enjoyed coffee and cake, the cake was a decent size but the coffee although nice is served in cheap cups- like the ones in a premier inn. What is nice is the atmosphere, there are loads of wooden tables surrounded by lots of plants and a lovely cottage effect. Relaxing for an afternoon break. The garden centre is full of lovely home decorations, garden furniture and clothes, unfortunately very pricey.

Been many times before so treated myself to a coffee and a pain au raisin . Well the pain au raisin I must say this time was really awful, heavy , soggy , tough , cold , stale , Not light and flaky , in fact I would not be surprised if it was yesterday’s! Honestly I could have had a far better one from lidl ! last time it was good so very inconsistent ! coffee ok but not great and at nearly £8 for both I shall, definitely think twice next time ! Thinking b about it I should have complained but not always easy when there’s a lot of people waiting. Come on BGC , you are really letting yourself down here and looking at the recent reviews as well it’s not just me ! Much better places for food !

I've been a regular visitor to the Burford Garden Co. for around 20 years, as I live nearby. I think the cafe lets it down to be honest. The quality of the coffee is absolutely terrible as it's out of those awful press button machines. Why they don't upgrade to proper barrista coffee I'll never know. Also the staff in my opinion have always been miserable. The weekend/holiday students are surly and feel they are above working in a cafe (well, get another job then) and you almost feel like apologising if you need to complain about the coffee or dry cakes. I know they deal with large numbers of visitors but it is bad even at quieter times. I prefer now, to go to Lynwoods in Burford for a decent cup of coffee, even when I shop at BGC. They need to up their customer service/attitude and coffee because it ain't cheap.

My husband and I popped in for breakfast today and were massively disappointed with the food and the service. We chose a Burford breakfast priced at 12.95, porridge and 2 pots of English breakfast tea, at over £3 per small pot The wait was long and when it arrived, the tea was so super weak it was undrinkable. We mentioned this to the waiter, who we assumed was a senior team member/manager. Instead of apologising etc, he grumpily huffed and simply said " what tea is it?" And stalked off with the weak pots. My husband went to the counter to collect the new pots and the man did eventually apologise. The Burford breakfast was a huge let down, cold bacon, cold beans, undercooked eggs, tomatoes so tough we couldn't even cut them with a knife! The toast was stone cold too. The porridge was OK. We decided to give up with the cooked breakfast and simply order toast, we didn't want to complain further! This took more than 25 minutes to arrive and the cafe was not remotely busy! We finally gave up, asked for a refund on the toast and the lady on the till said she was surprised at our experience. We had checked Trip Advisor whilst waiting for the toast to arrive, so knew the reviews they have been left for the last year or more, we pointed out to the lady that based on the reviews she should not be surprised... she replied that Trip Advisor is not an accurate representation of the business.... we however strongly disagree and will not be returning! The rest of the garden centre is a delight to visit, but avoid the cafe.

Cake and pot of tea was nice although tea was a little weak. Coffee small for the price. It’s a weird system as you collect your tea/coffee and cake and then have to queue behind people ordering food. Lots of people waiting to pay for food they had on their trays which must have been going cold. Also restaurant prices for food kept warm under the lights? Underwhelming…

Been here a few times in recent times but after the breakfast we had we felt it’s not the best. The big breakfast at £12.50 is what we both had and was t worth that tbh. I used to love coming here and lived nearby. Now I am an hour away I made a special journey to do some early Christmas shopping. That didn’t happen. Dogs are not allowed. I didn’t think to check as to be honest even Anthropologie and John Lewis in Cheltenham accept dogs. Also most restaurants have a separate area ( if at all needed). So the dog stayed in the car whilst I had a loo break and quick coffee. Didn’t shop. Very behind the time and the cafe is now tired and dated. Coffee from a machine too ( yuk!) not a good experience at all.

My husband and I took our granddaughter to Burford Garden Centre eatery today for Coffee for us and Luxury Hot Chocolate for her and we each had a piece of delicious cake. There the story gets worse. No hot drinks were available from the cake and pastry counter as the coffee machine was not on. We had to stand in a long queue behind customers who wanted to have food from the lunch menu - we waited ages and when I commented to the male server that it was disorganised he refuted this. However it seems to me that the coffee machine should have been on and if you want only drinks and pastries you should not have to queue behind customers who seemed to have to stand and wait for some time to get all their lunch requirements. This is clearly something that needs sorting out and is bad management in my opinion. There was also chaos when I tried to pay as the machine did not work. Something is wrong with the systems in place and I will not be returning to purchase Coffee or cake again or indeed anything else. There are many excellent establishments available who look after their customers and value their patronage.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We have been coming here for a number of years and it is a beautiful garden centre with interesting items for sale and good presentation it is expensive but this is the Cotswolds and the prices reflect the area. The cafe has declined sadly in the past years. I have no idea why; staff definitely have an impact. Many of them are very young and do not understand the word 'service'. We were waiting at the check out area for tea and cake and the three young members were laughing and joking around and not serving . It is a fundamental issue. Then at lunch previous reviewers are absolutely right; there are many many people who come here for lunch as a reflection of retired affluent local people plus other clientele and even though the Burford Garden Centre has received feedback many many times on the poor system they refuse to change it. This reflects a bad mentality and poor customer service. Why should people who only want a sandwich have to queue with the long wait for hot meals ???? Why haven't you opened up another way of letting customers pay? The current system is ridiculous and does result in overlong queues and frustrated people. The Burford Garden Centre makes a lot of money - they can re-design their cafe. There should be two options for paying and ordering coffee. The lunch queue question needs to be overcome. And the other issue is price - the cafe is extremely expensive and the quality is quite mediocre now. The cake selection is hit and miss and some of the cakes are borderline inedible. Time for some change . However because of the never-ending people who visit here there seems to be no reflection on the customer service sadly.

The lovely selections we have previously had are now only available on weekdays. Vegans and those who only want toast and eggs are not catered for. Burford says it is because volume of customers but we have sat many times in the cafe on weekends and are many lulls in the breakfast time period.. We used to be regulars for Sunday morning late breakfast. Unfortunately the place seems to have been in a steady decline over the last 2 or 3 years to the point that we will not be returning to the restaurant any time soon. First they took our two favourite options off the menu, then we noticed the staff often didn't seem to give a damn about customer service then, today, they had only two options on the menu for breakfast. The one we chose (the non-vegan option), was average at best. On a positive note, the coffee was good and hot.

This is our local garden centre and we call by on average once a week on the way back from walking. It is always interesting to browse around and the coffee and cake in the cafe is very good. We enjoy the outside seating in good weather, especially later in the day, when it is quiet.

This is such an amazing place to visit - whether to eat in the cafe or look at plants, furnishings, clothes, homewares etc. All very safe and they have a one way system. We had brunch in the cafe and the breakfasts - we had veggie - are simply divine and the portions are generous. If you are in the area, you MUST visit!

We visited here last week after it reopened following Lockdown. We were delighted to see how organised the whole place is for providing a safe and enjoyable shopping and eating space. One way system, sanitized trollies, spacing on the floor, all food was covered, cutlery wrapped in napkins, and loads of outside tables well spaced. And the extra mile for us was that ALL the staff were wearing masks (as were we). Thank you BGC, a fine example of how it's done. Planning to return on Monday to spend even more money on plants and garden stuff

This is like no other Garden Centre Cafe and will not disappoint. Not only is the whole Garden Centre uniquely perfect but the Cafe is amazing too. The food options are wonderful with lots of choice for all tastes including a vast salad bar with cold meats, fish or quiche to great daily hot selections and sandwiches and wraps. Everything is cooked fresh daily and gives you confidence that you are eating healthy food. The dessert and cake offering is like a trip to the sweet shop for a 5 year old....resist it if you can ! The drinks menu is huge with so many fun things to try. There are always some nice unusual specials available on the day. The setting is gorgeous and welcoming if not a little frantic at busy times. Get there early for lunch to avoid long queues as it’s self select, and the full tables. The prices of the food are in line with what you would expect for a beautiful Cotswolds eatery but not so high that you would have to think twice. If I have any criticism at all it would be the staff....not the friendliest bunch, no real direct customer engagement or being made to feel they are giving you their full attention. I have been many times and it’s always like that. It is a shame but wouldn’t stop me going as it’s a wonderful place to eat. What’s more you have an amazing retail experience to explore right afterwards. Take your credit card for that though.

We were passing by and stopped off here for refreshments. Fabulous cafe, cleverly thought out with a huge range of the most delicious homemade cakes and lunch choices. They even have a free water station beautifully done to top up your glass with fresh tap water. Large selection of homeware, clothing, plants, gardening and much much more all under one roof. A great place to shop and eat at the same time. My dad is disabled and is not very mobile. A huge thank you to Kerry who organised a wheelchair to the door and waited to take it off us when we got dad to the car. Her customer service was exceptional. Many thanks.

We visited mid week in January for an enjoyable trip out on a wet and cold day. This was an ideal solution and the choices for lunch were perfect. My wife had salmon salad and I had a veggie option, both of which were very good. Recommended

Visited today. We had a bacon sandwich, a sausage sandwich and each had a slice of cake. The sandwiches were fabulous as were the slices. The Mint Tea was okay but the cappuccino was a real disappointment. It most definitely was not a cappuccino, more like a cross between a flat white and a latte. For the record, a cappuccino is supposed to be 1/3 coffee, 1/3 hot milk and 1/3 frothed milk. The service was average, the shopping was great!

Will, perfectly presentable and reasonably polite, can’t make a decent cup of tea to save his life. any weaker and it could not be encouraged to seep out of the pot, despite there being half a teapot of leaves.Completely tasteless ! £2.50 for a cup of hot water - very disappointing. I am a regular and loyal customer, but my afternoon here today was completely spoilt!! Picture attached following a 20 MINUTE brew!!!

My friend and I meet here often for lunch and exchange of news. Get here early to get the best tables and the quickest service. The food is always the best you could get in any cafe and better than most restaurants too. Small tasty dishes or a plateful of deliciousness with tempting cakes and pastries with good strong coffee. The store is a delight to wander around for all your gardening needs and plenty more besides. I could spend a fortune if I had one. Such taste! That covers everything as well as the food.

A nice place to wander around but more signs needed to really get to grips with the place. Some areas looked like they needed more presentation attention (I guess it was just after Christmas decorations came down) but no matter. There for a coffee afternoon and they were very quick to serve us (3 drinks £8) but little care to point out where to get cutlery (spoons etc) and we were left searching a little. The girl at the till also would just look at the man creating drinks and not help. A nice place to just chill out.

I’ve known about this place my whole life and living a hour away have passed it many times. My friend recommended I popped in to have a look around as I never had before. I’d heard it was very expensive and posh. I went with my daughter and when we arrived I was shocked at the ramshackle look of the place. The main issue is there is poor/ no existent signage. We parked down near the play park as it was busy and walked up but had absolutely no idea where the entrance was. We eventually found it and walked in, it seems to be a collection of posh old greenhouses, nicely merchandised. There didn’t seem to be much order to the layout we nearly ended up in the children’s area cafe. Looked around and finding no signage we asked someone where the toilets were and then the restaurant. The food is delicious, but incredibly expensive. You are looking at a restaurant price for a canteen set up. My daughter had a sandwich which had a selection of sauces and sides of vegetables crisps and coleslaw. I have to say the coleslaw looked like it was chucked into bowls. A bit more care required. I got a quiche with salads, portion size good and delicious. We took the food to the coffee area to pay, the staff member has a lot to learn about hospitality and customer service. He did the minimum required and when I asked if there was any mayonnaise he said no. I knew there was in the sandwich section but I was assuming as I had a salad would be another option to collect dressings. Apparently he wasn’t willing to get it or find out. The food was lovely but I really think for the price you need a bit more service and training.

Called in a couple of times. The cafe isn’t anything special and the prices are a little inflated compared with other places in the vicinity. I didn’t find the service particularly attentive or polite. The Garden Centre goods are grossly over priced.

Had a three night stay at the Bell loved it! I extended our stay by a night and couldn’t get the same room as our original booking not disappointed in any way. Our first night was in Teasel a lovely room plenty of room with a nice shower wash room. Nice big comfortable bed. Friday and Saturday night we stayed in the room Hazel it’s situated above the barn. Amazing room with great views across countryside. This room is big loads of space to chill after a busy day in the Cotswolds. A super king sized bed and lovely shower /bathroom (huge bath). We weren’t going to dine at the Bell but as we had booked the extra night decided to have evening meal and breakfast on our first night. Both meals were delicious so also booked for Friday evening again delicious. The staff at the Bell are all very friendly and helpful hard working as whatever we asked nothing was too much trouble whatsoever . Thanks to all at the Bell for making our first visit to the Cotswolds a very special experience. Richard and Keeli x

Following a family emergency, I rang to cancel my table and was charged £70 without my permission. They will say it's on the website, however it wasn't prominent enough for me to notice during the booking process. We had been before and found the food OK and the staff a little arrogant but wanted to try again as hoped it was an anomaly as the surroundings are lovely. There will not be a third time, I have been told by several people that this business makes a loss, that is hearsay and I can't confirm that but after this cynical charge, it would seem they have to make money at all costs.
