Ravioli was awful.My dog enjoyed it more than I did. Manager not welcoming or friendly.Very poor visit, shouldve done our research first.

The only really downer concerning the restaurant at the lovely Lamb Inn was that it was empty. We were the only couple there for Sunday lunch until the end of our meal when another couple arrived. Can’t think why because the food was very good. The roast sirloin of beef was perfectly cooked and extremely tender. The roast potatoes crispy and the Yorkshire light and fluffy. Vegetables nice and crunchy and especially enjoyed the peppery sweede. Stick toffee pudding good. Excellent service from Jack.

Our first visit to The Lamb and very disappointed. The milk in my wife’s tea had turned sour, the meal was cold in parts and the red wine was very cold after being returned a 2nd time. We were told the wine was cold due to the weather - a hotel which doesn’t know how to keep red wine at the right temperature is laughable. We found the staff to be nonchalant about the whole thing and we definitely won’t be returning. There are plenty of other restaurants in Burford and the surrounding areas to choose from.

On a warm Sunday afternoon I decided to treat my wife to a cream tea at The Lamb, as advertised on their website. We found a table in the lounge but when I tried to order at the bar I was told they were too busy to serve 'walk-ins.' We recently stayed for two nights at The Hare and Hounds, Westonbirt, another hotel in the group, and were not entirely satisfied. We live in Burford and have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays etc at The Lamb over many years. It is sad to see that a hotel group renowned for good service has now been taken over by a faceless company that teaches their staff to call customers 'walk-ins' to their face. .

The garden setting of The Lamb is the perfect place to revive after strolling the main street and shops of charming Burford. Blooming gardens, sun parasols, comfortable seating and a menu that offers fresh, piquant food. I had an asparagus tart with a salad spiced with fine pickle. My husband is delighting in the seasonal rhubarb pavlova.

We were in dire need of a light lunh during a long fraught drive and dropped into The Lamb. Delighted to have excellent swiftly produced sandwiches - cheese and chutney for her , smoked salmon for me. Jolly good coffee too. Lovely ambience and perfect service. Everything very clean and up-to-date

Myself and a friend enjoyed afternoon tea at The Lamb Inn this afternoon. Service was excellent and very quick. The table we reserved was comfortable chairs placed in front of a wood fire for fabulous atmosphere. The food was delightful. Absolutely no complaints.

This meal was so good I had to leave this review. Found this place after finding out a few others were full on a last min trip to Burford and what a great evening it ended up being! Good service. Polite. Excellent meal. Would come again. Highly recommend this to everyone!

Wow. I have just had one of the best meals in my life. Tiger prawn to start, trout with a green leaf side salad and coconut rice pudding to finish. I could have eaten everything twice over. Excellent service, beautiful pub and amazing food. Hope to see you again on the 30th!!

An atmospheric gastro-pub in a calm location in lovely Burford. The Sunday lunch menu when we visited was rather dominated by roast-meat-and-Yorkshire-pudding dishes, but we nevertheless ate well. Friendly service.

Wow wow wow! From the start of our meal to the end the service, ambience and food at this restaurant was 5 star. Special note has to go to the Cote de Boeuf which was sublime.

Option to eat in bar or restaurant and we chose the restaurant. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts, prices on par with other places in the town. When I was about to leave a tip, waiter pointed out that a service charge had already been applied, I thought this was very good. Lovely place, very pleasant staff.

We experienced nothing like the negative reviews for this lovely restaurant. The meal was really nice and well cooked, the staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the decor and overall feel of the place. Had a knockout wine with the meal also!

We ate here recently and booked the restaurant for Sunday dinner. The restaurant emailed me asking if we were ok to move to the bar area as they had no room in the restaurant which I said was absolutely fine but when we got there, the tables were really low down to eat. Despite this we had confidence in the menu. We ordered 2 prawn cocktails which were £10 a pop. When they arrived the presentation was awful. Everything was mixed in and the quality of the ingredients was so poor- I at least expected king prawns for that price. The mains were better- my chicken supreme was tasty but the roast was a bit of a let down. Unfortunately no roast potatoes were brought out and I should have complained but at this point we just felt deflated at the ambiance and the let down of the starter. Given this place has a Michelin rating we felt The Lamb really didn’t live up to the expectations.

Had a very good meal in the bar at the Lamb - accompanied by our dog. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. The menu has a lot of choice.

The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent and the pub itself was very well decorated. If we were locals we’d be there regularly!

My crab sandwich was £11.50 I expected for that price fresh crab, it was tinned crab meat that hadn’t been drained correctly so it was sloppy mush. It was supposed to be served in a brioche bun instead it was served on a stale white bun. My guests food was equally as unimpressive. Don’t recommend this place at all.

Very friendly service, great food and a beautiful building made for a memorable dining experience. Our sense was the ambience is quiet and sophisticated, so it was a shame there was a couple maintaining a loud and constant conversation across the dining room with another table the night we were there.

We visited for dinner on a cold and rainy night and were very warmly welcomed into the cosy restaurant. Service was friendly and prompt. I chose the lamb (appropriate) and my partner the sirloin steak with a bottle of Malbec to accompany it. The excellent wine was brought quickly along with some delicious fresh bread. The butter was a little bit on the cold side but was still enjoyed. On to the main courses and my lamb was expertly cooked and seasoned. The mashed potatoes beautifully smooth and creamy. The peas and broad beans provided a lovely light freshness and the accompanying samphire (my favourite) added a wonderful and unexpected aspect of the sea to the dish. My partner's steak was also perfectly cooked and served on the bone. The chips were hand cut and fluffy and crisp as all chips should be. First class. We were careful to save room for dessert and each chose the chocolate mousse with caramelised chocolate and chocolate soil. Simply sublime. Easily one of the best chocolate desserts I have ever had. Rich, indulgent and creamy without being too heavy. All together a fantastic evening and great value for money. Thank you for making my birthday a very happy one.

Disappointing meal. Nothing special considering it was quite expensive- service was mediocre. At the prices they are charging I would expect staff to at least ask how our meal was- this did not happen until I asked to remove the discretionary service charge they then decided to ask! Ok- I know they don’t earn much and rely on tips but please cover the basics to get the tips! Food was just ok- nothing special. Would not return nor recommend. Sorry could have been so much better!

En una visita reciente a Burford tuvimos un almuerzo ligero en el jardín y dos cenas en el restaurante. En todas las ocasiones, la comida estuvo bien presentada y preparada por expertos, ¡enhorabuena al chef! El personal de espera fue atento y amable. Definitivamente lo recomendaría.

(En retrospectiva, probablemente deberíamos haber reservado la cena, be & be en lugar de solo be & be)Como verá en los menús, la comida tiene un precio superior a la comida de pub. . . La presentación era buena y la comida estaba bien hecha, aunque el entrante de pasta de ravioles estaba ligeramente poco cocido. Las porciones no son enormes.No hay nada malo en nuestra comida, pero he comido mejor a este precio o dicho de otra manera, ¡lo mismo por menos!

Lo pasamos muy bien hoy temprano en el almuerzo: personal encantador, excelente interior y comida deliciosa. La sopa de cebolla blanca fue una delicia y ayudó a comenzar la comida con estilo. Ambos optamos por la merluza de plato principal: ¡el pescado estaba perfecto y escamoso, con patatas fastidiosas y un caldo muy sabroso que nos recordaba al mar! Buen tamaño de porción, nos preparó para el resto de la tarde. Y han hecho un gran trabajo manteniendo a todos socialmente distanciados: ¡el gran espacio ayuda!

Well organised for covid. Friendly, helpful and engaged staff. Lovely room. Excellent breakfasts. Dinner was tasty with good portions, but served at the worst table in the restaurant [next to the kitchen door]. A Fuller's pub with no London Pride!

We were impressed by the imaginative and tasty menu, great service and very pleasant surroundings. A real treat! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and would highly recommend it. Not cheap but we'll worth the price.

Another of those Cotswolds (not) gastro pubs. I had the faggots. The veg was good but the faggots were nearer to quite dense meatballs. The mash was overly soft. It simply felt a bit pre prepared than made. My wife had the steak which was quite good. The pepper sauce was much too runny and tasteless, The chips were pompously chunky and a little cold, broccoli was fine. The cost was grossly excessive for the quality.

The menu choices in the bar seem to have been reduced since we came here to meet friends for lunch last year, but we still found some lovely dishes to enjoy. We've been customers here for a number of years and once again we weren't disappointed. Prices are still very reasonable and the restaurant's popularity was clear from how busy it was. Probably as packed as we've ever seen it. Staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. I loved my scallop and black pudding starter, top flavours and beautifully tender scallops in particular. The lamb rump main was equally good. I didn't need the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream, but I'm very glad I ordered it. We will be back next year and in the meanwhile if we find ourselves in the area.

This was our fifth visit to The Lamb for our very special three anniversary celebrations with our two doggies.As with our past visits all the staff couldn't have done any more for us, they were great.The food was lovely, and the room (Rosie Room) suits our requirements perfectly.If ever you need a hotel for special stay and celebration, then cannot recommend The Lamb enough.

We had not visited The Lamb for a good many years. At that time, the food could be described as "high calibre, hearty gastropub". This time round it was more "nouvelle cuisine". The food itself at dinner was very good, but portion size disappointing especially the starters. Pricing was, in my opinion, ambitious. Service was excellent with friendly and attentive staff.

Very lovely building inside and out. Very pretty. Majority of staff are very friendly and chatty. Would maybe suggest a friendly check of if food is nice after a little while after receiving meal. Food is very tasty and well presented. Only negative is as a vegetarian, the Sunday menu only had one option for a starter and main. When we asked if we can order off the bar menu in the restaurant, we was told we would have to sit in the bar to be able to order from that menu

Todo bastante deprimente. Nadie nos recibió al llegar, así que nos encontramos con un acogedor bar que resultó ser frío y oscuro, a pesar de un fuego ineficaz. Pedí pasta de mariscos que se echó a perder por la inclusión de mejillones en escabeche: el fuerte sabor de la salmuera abrumaba el plato. Decepcionante y no iremos allí de nuevo.

Tuvimos el almuerzo más maravilloso de Nochevieja aquí. La bienvenida, el servicio y la comida más hermosa fue excelente. Teníamos el almuerzo fijo que consistía en una selección encantadora de platos, tuve la terrina de cerdo y albaricoque y el cordero estofado lento, fue tan bueno. Gracias por un tiempo encantador, definitivamente volveremos pronto! !

Tuvimos una comida muy agradable durante su estancia en el Lamb Inn. Tanto yo (comedores de carne) como mi esposa (vegetariana) estaban muy bien atendidos y la comida en general era excelente. Solo una leve crítica es que parte de la comida estaba un poco condimentada para mi gusto: la barriga de cerdo en particular estaba tan salada que no pude comer todo el crujido. Aparte de eso, fue una comida encantadora en un entorno muy agradable con un servicio amable. Los desayunos también eran muy buenos.

Nos alojamos en otro hotel, pero nos recomendaron ir al Cordero ya que el chef de nuestro hotel estaba enfermo. Eso probablemente nos hizo un favor ya que tuvimos una muy buena comida y reservamos nuevamente para la noche siguiente. Toda la comida estaba muy bien preparada y presentada, y todo el personal era excelente. Las chuletas de cordero que tuve en nuestra primera visita fueron preparadas exactamente como lo solicitamos y maravillosamente tierna. Nuestra segunda visita fue mi cumpleaños, así que me salpiqué (35) en un filete de 8 oz, que de nuevo fue perfecto. Aprovechamos al máximo la lista de vinos y fue bueno descubrir que nuestro servidor sabía de qué estaba hablando con el vino.

Cenamos aquí este mes y me cobraron 30 por un filete de chuletón pequeño y duro. Estaba en una cita, así que decidí no presentar una queja, pero un restaurante con las pretensiones de este no tiene excusas para servir lo que debe saber para ser inferior e inaceptable.

We ate here only once during our stay at the Lamb as the menu didn’t really have huge appeal to us but we weren’t that impressed with the meal we did have. The starters were much better than the mains - the crispy hens egg and mushroom fricassee was delicious and the scallops dish was also very tasty with well cooked, sweet scallops. The mains however were disappointing. The Barnsley Chop didn’t have much flavor and was slightly chewy and if there was any chimi churi sauce involved it was undetectable. Similarly, the cod wrapped in parma ham was not very flavoursome nor was the ratatouille. We shared the cheesecake dessert which was fine but nothing special.

What a great restaurant. Food choices were enough without being too many, the staff were attentive and very helpful, service wasn’t the quickest but everything was cooked from scratch so worth the wait. Would recommend!

We popped in looking for a place for a light meal and this was perfect! The spicy prawns were delicious and the fish cake very good. Hook Norton beer on tap and some very nice Provence rose.

Had to write a review as the meal my husband and I had at The Lamb last night was delicious! I am vegan and gluten free and the options were fantastic, the vegan menu was so impressive my husband opted for it too! And it didn’t disappoint, and such good value! Beautiful restaurant too!

Lovely setting in this beautiful old character hotel. Restaurant very quiet with only a few guests so s little stuffy with average but expensive food. The bar manager serving was excellent, chatty, professional and helpful.

After spending an hour visiting every cafe/pub on Burford high street looking for somewhere that had vegan options, we came across the Lamb Inn. The menu clearly labels all vegan/vegetarian meals. There was more than one option. Inside the building is amazing. We sat in the bar and were served by fabulous waiter who was polite and helpful. We ordered the Buddha platter to share and I can honestly say it was one of the best Buddha platters I have ever had. Great combinations of hummus and pickled vegetables and tasty falafels. We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the bar. The facilities were also really good. Fabulous Molton Brown soaps and creams.

Fantastic fresh food locally sourced - outstanding breakfast with lots of variety . The evening dinner was great and definitely a place to take friends to share the experience

We live nearby and had not eaten at The Lamb for many years but were pleasantly surprised at the recent refurbishment and by the high quality of both food and service. The lamb is not cheap but make a valuable addition to the range of dining options in Burford and is rather different to the standard gastropub offering. I would have no hesitation in recommending

I went away with a small group for my 50th birthday, staying in Burford. Looked up restaurants before our trip and found the Lamb Inn had a menu that tempted me most. 2 young waiters catered for our every need, weren't over bearing in any way. Meal was superb, good wine list as well. Would definately recommend this place.

Stumbled across this restaurant on our way to the Cotswolds. Friendly and warm service in a very quaint and cosy atmosphere.

We had steaks that were cooked exactly as we requested Would have liked a choice of Chicken or pork on the menu and not just fish or red meat

Spur of the moment drop in for bite to eat. Chose a fish platter and a meat platter. £12 each. Various meats and fishy pieces. Not as much to eat from the fish platter as the meat one. Bread dry. No butter. Had to ask for butter. Service was good. Atmosphere was olde worlde flagged floors and log burner.

We ate here several times this week and were particularly impressed by the Barnsley Chops which were so good we had them 2 nights running! Good service, very pleasant bar area. We didn’t stay at the hotel during this visit to Burford but have done many times over the years. The rooms we’ve stayed in have been of a high standard. We’ll return in the future.

We were a party of six (+ baby) pre-booked but arriving at a busy time for Sunday lunch. Even so, we were attended to v promptly by friendly staff, given the right amount of time to choose from the pretty impressive menu, and despite a slightly complex selection by us, everything arrived in good time and at the same time.

Superb menu and excellent food and wine. Attentive and friendly staff served extremely well presented food and were always available when required. I would advise sight of the menu over a pre-dinner drink in the cosy bar before being shown to the main restaurant table; it saves waiting time at the table !. Highly recommended fine dining and the bonus.......they accept the Gourmet Society discount card on Friday evenings.

Had a lovely lunch, staff very friendly, delicious food. We were able to choose from the restaurant menu despite sitting in the bar as we had 2 dogs with us. Very cosy with an open fire. Our friend is vegetarian and she was well catered for. The only slight negative was the starters were very small, but quality was very good.

Superb menu and beautifully cooked and presented food. We requested extra gravy which was brought out very quickly for the roasted pigeon and everything we ate was utterly delicious!

Visited for Sunday lunch, roast beef and all the trimmings. The location, decor and staff were all excellent.

The service was excellent and the decor and setting really nice. Both of us enjoyed our meals but one of us had a decent sized portion and the other didn't. So, please just up the portion sizes and we would happily return.

We’ve visited the Cotswolds for years and somehow had overlooked this treasure in Burford. We dined here twice during our visit last week; once for dinner and once for lunch. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, food and presentation is some of the best we had in the Cotswolds and the staff is so helpful and friendly. Claudia was our waitress for dinner and she was delightful. This will definitely become one of our regular stops when we visit each summer.

Had dinner here while staying at the hotel on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. Good food. Allowance of £35 pp for choosing from the A La Carte menu. Wine reasonable price. Friendly staff

Whilst in Burford for a few days to celebrate our 47th Wedding Anniversary we went into this establishment once for a couple of mid afternoon drinks and decided to go there a couple of evenings later for an anniversary meal.

Had it not been for the warm white wine and the paucity of real ale choice, this review would have marked higher. It was a very hot, quiet Wednesday evening and to say a glass of sauvignon blanc served lukewarm was the last thing my wife wanted would be an understatement. My pint was well served but unremarkable...harmless even, which drove home to me the disappointing lack of real ales on offer.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a beautiful anniversary meal at The Lamb Inn. The food was delicious and the staff were phenomenal.

Had a disappointing meal with our children on the Sunday evening. We opted for the chateaubriand to share which was very average. I think the food was very overpriced for what was served cold and not very well done. Wouldn’t eat there again, very different to our last experience, which was good on the lunchtime, yet again disappointing on the evening. There are much nicer restaurants in Burford.

Charming hotel/inn with the most delightful walled beer garden. Simply wonderful location in Sheep Street and an enchanting Elizabethan experience. A must visit when in Burford!!!

Potions far too small versus cost and special were only offered in the bar. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was ok.

We recently stayed in the Lamb, the room, one of the best in the hotel was fantastic. however we stayed for sunday lunch and this was a real disappointment. The lamb was really underdone and so was the beef. We like the beef quite rare but it was really undercooked. The lamb was the same, almost jelly like. When we questioned the staff, they said that the chef always cooks this way and they kook under the grill to cook to the way the guest wants it. This is of course ridiculous. The roast potatoes and vegetables were not at all satisfactory. sorry lamb, a poor show.

Eaten here a few times now, there's plenty of choice and the food is good quality. Although I will say it is expensive. One negative, sort the doors out! They're difficult to open and close.

Having been to the Lamb for afternoon cream tea previously, I was really looking forward to treating my Father to a Full Afternoon tea for a Fathers Day Treat. When ordering the afternoon tea, the waiter questioned my request for 3 afternoon teas (I brought my mother along too), and he asked would I like cream tea or the £17 tea. As I was treating my father, I was slightly annoyed the waiter announced to the table the cost of the meal.

Sorry to say went to the lamb for my husband birthday on the 15 June was very disappointed the prices are high for the quality of food Will be going back to the bear at Woodstock far better restaurant

Lovely place off the main high street in Burford. We had a lovely meal and given we hadn’t booked we were very happy to be fit in. Although I have to say it was a little pricey - we were served Grey Goose as the House vodka...didn’t realize until the £45 bill came for the booze

4 of us had dinner in the bar.The prices are on the high side for a bar meal.We were served by a variety of people .

My partner found this place on the internet whilst looking for somewhere to eat in the area, and what a great choice it was. High quality food, in a relaxed but very civilised dining area. Serving staff are clearly well-trained, we were thoroughly impressed. It wasn't cheap but not extortionate, and we don't mind paying higher prices if it lives up to expectations, which it did. Would be a great venue for both a romantic dinner as well as for a larger group event.

Great menu, food and service. Beautifully presented and tasty food. Great wine selection and reasonably priced

Had a fish sharing plater very poor quality don't think it was fresh and cold. Complained to waiter said he would inform chef but no apology. Would not return shame because it's in a beautiful location.

We wanted to visit the Bay tree hotel but due to a wedding it was closed.

Very good service, but the food looks better than it taste, a lot of efforts to dress the plates, but lacking in flavors and depth. However I will try it again.

This was a treat for a friend who is getting over cancer. It is one of our favourite things to do; and this seemed like the ideal venue. I have eaten here in the evening many times over the last 30 years, and always had a good experience.

A bit pricey, but good food and ambience. Enjoyed the soup, hake and cheesecake on the Spring dinner menu.
