Huffkins in West Oxfordshire

We had such a lovely lunch at Huffkins in Burford yesterday. Sitting in the window watching the world go by. The staff were so lovely, kind and attentive. There was a lovely buzz within the whole place. The food was amazing!!! and to top it off what a delicious Chocolate Milkshake! Will certainly be coming back on our way through!

Always delicious the cream teas are very good a nice stop off when travelling.

We visited on a Tuesday afternoon. The young man who served us was very attentive bringing extra pots of tea throughout our meal. The afternoon tea was very filling & delicious

Went to Huffkins today with a friend for lunch. We got directed to a seat by window & the table was covered in crumbs. We ordered jacket potatoes,they were so dry inside ,it stuck in our throats. No butter,very bland. Really dissapointed as such a basic meal to get right. Wouldnt go here again,no atmosphere very drab.

We didn't have the best experience at this coffee shop. The food took quite a while to arrive, and when it did, it was disappointing. The eggs were tasteless and bland, with a very basic presentation—it looked like a homemade dish in a not-so-great way, yet it cost around £15. The pastries were fresh but quite small, and the butter croissant with jam and butter was £5, which felt overpriced. However, the scones were a pleasant surprise—both the savoury and sweet ones were absolutely delicious. I wouldn’t recommend this place, as there are better options nearby that offer better value for money.

Called for coffee at about 10am Friday 6 th, coffee was truly awful like searingly hot, made with dishwater. Almond croissant ok our morning already marred, we just left the 'coffees' on the table there was nobody about. Hope they take the hint but we won't be back.

We visited for afternoon tea and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were offered a choice of scone and hot drink and were told the hot drinks were refillable. Everything was delicious and the staff were great, friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.

Visited today on a busy Tuesday in half term- very glad we reserved a table in advance! Staff were amazing, friendly, on it with orders, getting tables turned around quickly and still providing amazing service on a busy day! We had the classic afternoon tea- delicious and great value for money especially as you can change what hot drink you have throughout and have as many as you want. Staff were great at giving us a table with buggy space which we had requested on our booking. Only downside was that baby changing is upstairs, up a windy stair case, very small cubicle, change table over toilet so you can't go at the same time as having baby with you. None of this is staffs fault obviously amd they are amazing! but want to make other people going with a baby aware!

Famous Cotswold bakery & popular eco bags! When I was traveling to the Cotswolds in England, I stopped by this famous shop. Not only was the exterior cute, but the atmosphere inside was also very nice, and I couldn't help but catch my eye. Huffkins is famous not only for its delicious scones and tea, but also for its eco-bags, which are popular in Japan. The simple yet stylish design makes you feel good just by holding it. Although it is difficult to obtain in Japan, it is so popular that it is sold at high prices on flea market sites such as Mercari. This cafe is perfect for enjoying tea time in between sightseeing. If you're in the Cotswolds, be sure to stop by!

Good but expensive. Coffee at £4.05 when you have already bought coffee on top of a full English breakfast is quite frankly a rip off

I wanted a jute bag before I went to England. I went to the store just to buy a bag. The real thing was cute and I bought it right away.

I came here with my parents for an afternoon tea for my dad's birthday we had great food and service. we hope to come back again soon .😃

Great food. One of the best Cream Teas we have had, so we have rebooked for February. However more staff are needed to reduce waiting times. We were not happy all dogs are welcome as this is unhygienic! If you HAVE to allow dogs there should be a clearly designated area for them to be contained as we feel very uncomfortable with dogs around us!

One of the best Cream Teas we have experienced. Freshly made sandwiches were generously filled. Homemade fruit scones were tasty. Plenty for 2 to have as a lunch. Although we rate this tea room as 5* we just attention to the following points:- 1) No dogs except assistance dogs due to hygiene! Many customers are not comfortable around dogs! If dogs have to be permitted they should be confined to a clearly marked area! 2) More staff needed to reduce waiting times.

Lovely tearoom, delicious cakes and a warm welcome. Although it was very busy, we were seated quickly and the service was quick with a smile. Will definitely return next time we’re in The Cotswolds and will order gifts online. Great alternative to Betty’s for those living further south!

Although it was very busy the staff soon got us seated (a table for 5 so not easy). Service was very good and the food excellent as usual.

We visited your establishment on December 27th, 2024 and really enjoyed the good coffees. I particularly liked the sausage roll. We would be happy to come back, even though it is a bit far from Hamburg, where we live, to Burton.

Stopped in for a nice Cream Tea while taking a tour of the Cotswolds. The holiday roll was delicious alongside great Tea. Inside is pretty and service was friendly.

We had a great experience at Burford for their Classic Afternoon Tea that we had gifted to us. Really pleasant tea room with a cosy feel, service was fantastic by everyone that served us, and the selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes was more than plentiful meaning we required a box to take the extras home!

Dog friendly cafe that never disappoints. We stopped here for a late lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon. We were very fortunate to get a parking spot right outside the cafe. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. Definitely recommend the open brie and bacon sandwich with a victoria sponge to finish off 😊

I stopped by during my long-awaited trip to the Cotswolds. I was captivated by the stylish exterior and interior. I had afternoon tea, The tea was thin and lukewarm. The savory (sandwich) was poorly made and didn't have cucumber in between. The pastries are just sweet baked goods. Staff are unfriendly and businesslike I wasn't expecting the same kind of response from Japanese store staff from the beginning, but I was very disappointed. However, the saving grace was that the scones and clotted cream were delicious. As a commemorative gift, I purchased a tote bag with the store's logo on it.

So pleased we chose Burford huffkins , the staff were amazing , we had an afternoon cream tea , sandwiches were really nice and cakes were yummy, but had to take the scones and cream home to eat, would thoroughly recommend thankyou huffkins ❤

We have visited Huffkins many times over about 25 years although this was the first time post Covid. The food is excellent and always has been. We did feel a little as if the decoration and furniture changes made the place feel a bit less of a ‘cosy cafe’ compared to pre-Covid times and the order online from the table/at the counter service, whilst very efficient was a bit less personal than the traditional waiter takes order service of those earlier times. None of this would deter us from visiting again of course!

We welcomed quickly and politely and shown to a table, where the process of ordering was explained to us. Order was shortly delivered after we ordered and the food was lovely. Happy knowing that it is all freshly made.

Nice cafe shame about the decaf tea. We had a lovely flap jack and cheese scone in a nice atmosphere but I don’t recommend the decaf tea, it’s the worst decaf tea I have ever had. I asked the staff after stirring it and waiting a few minutes if there was an issue as it had no colour at all, I was told I should leave it longer, I left it longer still no change so had to put one of my own decaf teabags into it as it was undrinkable. When places charge £3.95 for a cup of tea I expect it to be top quality not hot milky water.

Drove all the way from Cornwall to here and got a parking spot right outside as we pulled up. Yes I was amazed. I had the Brie and Bacon with cranberry. Totally lush. Followed by a piece of victoria sponge which was also devine. No one does a tea room like the English and this one is spot on.

We stopped by for some lunch and pots of tea. I had the ham and cheddar sourdough toastie and my partner had the cheese toastie, both of which was tasty with fresh sourdough. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Friends got us an afternoon tea voucher for our 40th wedding anniversary, the food and service cannot be faulted, we will definitely be back

A perfect country tearoom. The warm lardy cake was perfect and would definitely recommend.

A great little find close to other amenities in the shopping village. We had a stop off post shopping for cake and hot drinks. Fruit Scone,jam and clotted cream - still warm. Absolutely delicious! The brownie was also very yummy! Clean, friendly and plenty of seating.

Jacket potatoes were scrumptious and delicious the best cheesy tuna melt jacket potatoes me and family ate. Overall very expensive for one jacket potatoe £12. The cake slice was delicious full of flavour, soft and moist.

It was nice but not as good as the days before Covid

We were given a voucher for a Classic Afternoon Tea by our son back in May for my birthday but unfortunately when the young man scanned it he said it was empty and I would need to pay with another card. A young dark haired waitress was very sympathetic and said she would take advice. She returned to say the voucher would be honoured at Huffkins' expense. I would like to pass on my thanks to her for how she handled a potentially embarrassing situation. My son can prove he paid for it so I'm uncertain as to why it wouldn't work.

Haven't visited here for a while, had hope to see a display of the cakes etc. but had to choose from a menu. I'm sure they are OK, however I like to see before buying.

Had a wonderful time at Huffkins! Was quickly given a table, excellent service when ordering and drinks and food came out very quickly. Thoroughly enjoyed our cake and drinks. Would highly recommend stopping by if visiting Burford.

Very nice tea room. The Victoria sponge and the scones are good even if a little heavy! Be careful what you put first, the cream or the jam! You could cause a heated argument! There are bathrooms upstairs

Very disappointing After visiting Bourton cafe which was excellent We ordered hot chocolate which was flavoured water with chocolate powder sprinkled on top It was not even hot and big lumps of chocolate powder at the bottom My husband ordered a latte which tasted watery and if cinnamon Won’t be back

The atmosphere and setting is nice and cosy, friendly staff but my word the food and coffee is awful! Cheap sausages, cheap vinegary ketchup, cheap machine coffee - and totally overpriced! We left half our food and then went elsewhere. Much better options down the Highstreet

We were in Burford yesterday 14/10/24 and called into Huffkins for a midmorning coffee and toasted teacake.We had a nice table by the window and our order was brought to us very quickly. Both items were lovely. On the way out I purchased some loose leaf tea and a jar of chutney. I look forward to tasting these and should the occasion arise that we are in Burford again,would have no hesitation in popping in again.

Excellent experience all round. Great food and service and dog friendly. A great find and highly recommended. We had the fishmonger sandwich.

The staff at Huffkins Burford were so welcoming, the lardy cake was nicely presented. The tea was lovely. We fully enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning again when we visit Burford next. I cant recall the names of the staff but they were brilliant!

We decided to have a cream tea - scone, jam and clotted cream. Despite this also being a bakery, the "scone" was unlike any scone we had ever seen; it was more like a brioche. The jam was pre-packaged in individual pots, and the portion of clotted cream came in a plastic tub. It felt industrial, rather than individual. The cherry on the icing was when the youth serving us handed over two knives, and helpfully explained that they were for spreading the jam and cream on the scone. Wow!! How could we have got to our late sixties and never understood what knives are for!? Talk about being patronised. Needless to say, we won't be back.

We popped in here for a morning coffee and I was very impressed by the care and attention given to her job by the very friendly waitress at the desk. The customer before us had ordered two breakfasts but both were for people on special diets. The waitress went to great lengths to ensure that all items on the menu were checked for suitability/safety for her customers, including repeated trips to the kitchen to double-check ingredients of things like the hash browns. She then apologised to me for the wait this had caused me, even though I had not had to wait long.and.any delay had not been her fault at all. Altogether very impressive customer service - and our coffees and croissants were very nice too.

Best lardy cake ever. Not had one for 6 years... had a cake and sandwich plate with a scone, clotted cream and jam and a coffee. Loved it.

The scone was absolutely soft, light pairing well with the jam and clotted cream. We just stopped by for 20’. The service was quick and the staff were nice.

Weak tea. Lardy cake wasn’t great, more like a warmed up cinnamon swirl. Good customer service but £17.80 for two teas and two ‘lardy’ cakes was too pricey. Wouldn’t return.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with cakes, scones and sandwiches. Service was excellent and we ended up here as another tea room was especially snobby towards us! The food was delicious and we ended up buying some of their chutney as gifts.

What can I say, it was an abysmal experience. High tea high prices but the service is only suitable for Wetherspoons.

Most expensive tourist trap in burford. Avoid if you have a mortgage. £7.50 for a tiny bacon roll….

Popped in while we were visiting this beautiful little town. I only had a pot of tea which, at £3.95 was the most expensive pot of tea I’ve ever had and sadly the worst. The tea tag suggests it’s their own brand but it’s so watery and it has no taste at all. My daughter wanted a smoothie, whilst she enjoyed it, the price tag of £7.50 was just too expensive. Other family members enjoyed their coffee. My son in law had a sandwich but reported it was very expensive and it was very dry as was the cake another family member had. On the whole very overpriced which, if the food and drinks were fabulous you wouldn’t mind but for mediocre to poor food and drinks sadly we wouldn’t revisit.

We were a party of 6 visiting on a Saturday lunchtime, the cafe was fairly quiet. We ordered mainly sandwiches and one pasty. Everything arrived within reasonable time except the pasty. We chased this a few times and each time were told it would be chased up, at no point were we told there was a delay or given the option to change the meal choice, and rather than explaining the delay and holding all the food back so it arrived at the same time, they just left one of the party without food. We had all finished our food a good 15 mins before the pasty arrived. Really poor customer service and big lack of communication.

Horrendous experience! Bought a gift voucher for my elderly parents anniversary. Dad is seriously ill. Alcester Huffkins refused to take the voucher!!! Said it was their managers policy. Once our favourite place will now never return ever again

Average at best. I'm shocked at the rating. The price is no where near reflected in the quality of food. Would not recommend for the price alone, I'm happy to pay the right price for high quality food.

I had a bad experience in here last weekend, I was given 4 different filthy cups to drink out of. when I went to the kitchen to ask for a clean one.. I watched the member of staff use a dirty dish cloth that was sat on the side to wipe out a dirty cup, leaving it with smears and tea stains on it. At this point is asked for a refund for my cream tea that I had not yet received as I was not drinking my tea from a dirty cup. I was also given a cheese toasty (as a vegetarian) with a piece of ham stuck to the crust, this made me concerned about cross contamination which was proven upon seeing the sandwiches being made in the kitchen all on one chopping board. Upon leaving we headed to the till for our refund to be processed which was an extremely frustrating experience, the whole process took almost 30 minutes, we were not given a refund receipt and would not leave without proof, so we were sent next door to the tea room with another member of staff who had to call management/ head office. The refund was eventually made and a receipt was provided after a lengthy wait. I will not be returning.

I love British tea culture. I came here to enjoy tea in the countryside, but I couldn't find a parking space, so I ended up only visiting for takeout, but the atmosphere was very nice. Local people were also relaxing and enjoying tea. Unfortunately, even though we arrived before noon, some of the tea and sweets were already sold out. Would you like to come to the UK exhibition in Japan?

Unfriendly staff (cashier, didn't even bother to say bye), outrageous prices. Overworked waiter (one poor lad serving 12 tables plus). Ordered a tea with cake (warm lardy cake). They forgot to bring the sugar, and also forgot to bring a teaspoon. The cake was terrible. The brand of tea (an earl Grey) is actually theirs, bland. Avoid.

We got an afternoon tea to share but there is no table service and you have to queue at the till to order once you have your table number. Waitress came over and dumped 2 napkins and a load of cutlery on our table in a pile saying here’s your cutlery, she did not set the table and when the afternoon tea came we had to ask for plates. You could choose a sandwich filling and choice was one of 3, tuna, coronation chicken or cheese and chutney which was a pretty poor choice. Opted for cheese and chutney but the chutney had a curry flavour. Scone was beautiful and fresh and lemon drizzle moist. Pot of tea for two was weak even after brewing for a while and we had to ask for more tea bags. On all honesty the afternoon tea was nothing special and I wouldn’t rush back. Certainly didn’t feel like a Cotswolds country afternoon tea.

This is the best scone I ever had in my life. Cream tea is a must try.

I’ve been coming to Huffkins, Burford for years so came again yesterday for two takeaway sandwiches for £20.45, just the food, no drinks for that price. The sandwiches were ok but very ordinary and certainly not good value. I think they are catering to rip off all the tourists that visit this beautiful village. I will never be going into a Huffkins bakery again!

Lovely spot to have cream tea and scones!! Excellent service, friendly and efficient. I got both a sweet scone and savory. The savory one had a tomato chutney and of course I got clotted cream and jam with my sweet scone. Both were to die for and I’m still thinking about them a week later!

It’s a treat to go out for breakfast with a family and sadly, this was one breakfast we won’t forget for the wrong reasons. It took far too long, and we are happy to wait if the food is good but we were so disappointed. For the price, the amount and quality of food was underwhelming. Think twice before going for breakfast.

Whilst perfectly lovely service, even as they were attempting to train a new member of front of staff on a busy Saturday, the food was nothing overwhelming. We both had a sandwich as a very hot day and didn’t fancy anything hot, they were okay but nothing special and then we also each had a cake. My lemon drizzle cake was dry, no moisture at all, like it was a couple of days old and my partner did not rave about his Belgium bun either.

Nice tea room in Burford. Bacon and poached eggs on toasted sourdough bread is very good. It would be better if the eggs had a few grains of salt and pepper. Cream tea was also good, the house blend tea was plenty good. Only if they remember to bring the jam and clotted cream.

Popped in for light lunch Chose a savoury pinwheel pastry and salad. Salad was a very small handful of lettuce. Pastry dry and hard and looked old. Absolutely not worth just under £10

This is THE place to have cream tea in the Cotswolds. It was when I came 30 years ago and it still is. It's been around for a long time and they know what they're doing. Food is excellent. I think the scones are brought out straight from the oven to the table.. They are easily the greatest scones I've ever had. The service is top notch. There are people coming in who speak all different languages and they are patient and helpful.

I came here with my sister for the classic afternoon tea for 2, and we were not disappointed. It was worth the hour and half drive. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was lively. Would definitely recommend it. We also got a 10% discount off the Huffkins bags.
