This was an amazing few days which I would highly recommend to anyone. I stayed with my disabled elderly mum, the room was so comfortable, small but everything you need. The beds was comfortable, the room very clean, looked newly decorated and carpeted. The entrance to the room had its own little patio. Ian was such a lovely host, he was so helpful, engaging and happy, always there to help with a smile. Thank you. This quaint hotel is in the perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds, tranquil and quiet. Breakfast was great. Highly recommend, Suzanne and Caroline

We stayed here for two nights as wanted to visit the wildlife park 15 minutes down the road so seemed a great location and price. We booked a double, there was some marks on the walls and a stain on the carpet in the corner but the room smelt lovely and fresh, it was clean, tidy with coffee and tea making facilities and fresh towels. A cooked breakfast was included and a nice size with option of porridge pot, coco pops, toast fruit and jam. There is an Asda and Aldi just 10 mins drive but the other nearest pub seemed at least a 30 min walk. When we went down to the bar the first night (Thursday) it was very quiet, I think more guests/locals did visited Friday. We tried the pizza which was tasty and the staff when we arrived and for both evening and morning was polite.

Stayed here for a night recently, the room was in an annex building at the back of the pub. It was comfortable with a wet room bathroom and small TV. The bar had a small selection of beers, one local lager however the cask wasn't on (Thursday night) which was very disappointing. There was a cat walking round and the smell that accompanies them being indoors (not ideal as I'm allergic and wasn't aware prior to going). I didn't have an evening meal so can't comment on the food. Breakfast was nice table service for cooked, help yourself to filter coffee/tea with a nice home made marmalade. Overall I would give 3 stars, I might stay here again if needed to be in the area.

A beautiful location and a handsome building in a small quaint and quiet village . Accompanied by my son , his partner and small child we booked Bed& Breakfast and had 2 self contained ground floor rooms which were clean and comfortable ( although their double bed dipped in the middle ) in the annex at the back with a small patio outside the 2 separate front patio doors . Our stay in the rooms was peaceful and quiet generally all the time . The cooked breakfast was very good in the attractive dining area which was clean and well equipped . The landlord was welcoming and accommodating when he was on duty and when we turned up 15 minutes early for breakfast . I would definitely stay there again .

We spent 2 nights here, staying in adjoining rooms in the annexe with my mother-in-law. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and polite. The full English breakfast was amazing, 10/10 on presentation, taste & readiness. The double bed in our room was extremely soft and dipped in the middle - so much so that my husband & I kept rolling inwards to the middle of the bed all night!! The rollers were also not locked in place so the bed moved across the floor easily. The desk chair legs were buckled and unusable. The wet room was fine, but the whole room could do with a good scrub (dead flies in bathroom sink & ants in main room). Overall it was a lovely stay, and I would return - but ask for a different room.

It was our first time staying at the vines hotel and we will certainly be coming back here. Fantastic value for money, lovely modern, clean rooms that feel homely. Nice quiet area so slept very well. Breakfast was decent, choice of yogurt, toast, cereal and cooked breakfast. We had the full English breakfast which was cooked beautifully and just the right size to be able to enjoy it all!! 👍 Staff were helpful and very friendly. It was very busy on our last morning at breakfast which was a bit more of a wait, but staff kept us informed and apologised for the delay which was fine. Perfect distance for us visiting our daughter in bampton, and also near enough to friends in Curbridge and Witney areas. We will definitely be back! 😊

If you would like a lesson in how not to manage a situation, look no further than the management at The Vines for inspiration. Having booked a hen do meal, we were excited to celebrate the bride to be at The Vines hotel restaurant. However, from the moment we arrived, we realised that this was a mistake. Despite booking only 2 weeks ago, we were told that “management had changed” and our hen do booking did not exist. We waited for a table to be made up, despite the restaurant being empty (and full of laid tables). The waiter had obviously not been trained in customer service and did not ever proffer a drinks menu. When the food finally arrived, the tagliatelle was good (despite copious amounts of whole peppercorns), as was the sausages and mash. The fish, however, was not at all palatable and it is was dubious whether it was even cod. When questioned, they brought out the packet from which the cheap supermarket frozen fish had been cooked. After we had eaten, we expressed our disappointment and instead of being highly apologetic, the manager seemed to think that a 10% discount and removing the uneaten fish was an acceptable apology. (For future reference, at least comping the drinks and profusely apologising to the bride to be would have been a good start!) Equally, whilst the cat was absolutely adorable, having it sat, begging and walking all over the tables is not particularly sanitary. This restaurant has the potential to be so much better than it was!

What can I say. We stayed here for our Christmas work function, which we had a Christmas meal and a disco was also on. The food was fantastic, all cooked so well with great presentation. The room was also beautiful, very clean, modern but with a traditional quirk. As we stayed we also had breakfast the next morning which was so fresh and clean, not greasy and thrown together. If your looking for a friendly, warm and welcoming place to visit with great food, I highly recommend. Well done to the current owners you really were amazing.

We selected to stay one night here Saturday 16th September, really because of all the previous glowing reviews. We opted to have a meal here in the evening and although I have never had a Beef Stroganoff quite like it before, it was superb. The beef stroganoff was literally two small fillets of beef, with a sauce covering them both and cooked sliced mushrooms on top. With this meal you had mash potato and red cabbage all of which was superb. My wife had a Margarette Pizza which she also enjoyed. Drinks here are priced quite keenly and you never felt ripped off. There is ample parking and the main building itself is absolutely lovely. The staff, waiters etc are also very welcoming, kind and very considerate. The menu is extremely limited so if Pizza is your bread and butter, you will be fine. They only appear to have one choice of special meal available to chose from. Sunday 17th September we had breakfast in the pub/restaurant area. Again we met the owners/staff and sat down along with about 16 others for our breakfast. As we were eating our lovely breakfast another couple came in and looked for a table to sit at. The young couple had selected a table but quite suddenly decided to move to the other side of the restaurant and they both looked quite perplexed. What was then quite apparent was that on the carpeted floor by the tables in the restaurant was several cat faeces (poo). There was actually two separate locations with faeces on the floor and the young lady was quite right to quickly inform the staff. Seeing faeces in the eating area was the absolute last straw for us, and we basically finished up and the breakfast area and just decided to set sail early. We gathered up our belongings from our room handed the key back to the bar area and departed. This place could be a really brilliant place to eat. However I would suggest that the staff/owner ensures that a proper check of the breakfast/restaurant area is carried out in future, prior to any customers coming in to the restaurant. Having any faeces in an area where you are serving food and people are eating is totally unacceptable and would put us off staying/eating here again.

Give this establishment a miss!! Fawlty Towers on steroids! We had arranged to check in early after a long journey from the North to attend a friends wedding. Front door locked no signs of life. After several minutes of door banging a young lady appeared, obviously not expecting us. She had to check the computer to verify our booking. Our room was in the annexe behind the main building. There was a musty smell on the stairs and corridor. The room had a tired look, frayed carpet old style small screen TV. The wet room/toilet was in need of TLC a loose shower control and a non functioning extractor fan. On a tight schedule, knowing the hotel was fully booked not able to request a room change. Our problems began on the Sunday morning when we went for breakfast. There were 25/30 other guests, also attending a wedding the previous day. There was a lack of cutlery sounds, no one was eating. There was one young man, presumably in a waiters role trying to attend the needs of a room full of people. It proved difficult to identify any of the few staff, none wore uniforms, name and title badges. During our 50 minute wait for one breakfast to arrive, several of the other guests left unable to wait any longer. The breakfast items were laid on what had been the day before, the reception. No refrigerated counter, uncovered jug of milk a plate of butter with a knife stuck in it. Shambolic would be a polite description. This hotel bore all the signs of a business run on a shoe string budget, run by poorly trained staff. On returning to our room to retrieve our luggage, we noticed several Silverfish on the edge of the carpet, hence the damp smell.Be warned.

Stayed here for just one night as we were attenting the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. This place is lovely. It's out of the way enough to be quiet (apart from when aircraft depart from nearby RAF Brize Norton but that really wasn't an issue for me!). Upon arrival had a lovely warm welcome from a guy behind the bar. We were given our keys and show where the rooms were, and where we could park the car. The rooms - a little dated, the door is operated by a manual key, no key cards here, and you have to manually lock the door when you leave the room. The room itself was lovely and clean, smelt fresh, had tea/coffee making facilities, TV, en-suite etc. The bed was really comfy too. Overall the place is well presented, has great staff, a nice bar, and the food was really good aswell. Breakfast the following morning was a serve at the table affair, various options available, including full english which was customisable. I enjoyed staying here a lot more than I thought, and my friend and I have already booked two nights for RIAT next year. Thanks to all who work here, you all do a great job.

Rooms clean with all you’d expect , good shower comfy beds , minor tidying required in outside areas , lots of weeds , that could be rectified quite easily. Breakfast was a farce really , waited over an hour for our full English , waiter ( only one on busy weekend) lost our order and we had to reorder, first in the dining room and last out .breakfast was poor in all fairness , you could count the beans on both hands , one sausage one slice of bacon , continental offerings were also poor , coffee was good and strong. After complaining the bill was reduced , I’d rather pay more and have a good breakfast. This place has such big potential , it’s a shame.

We had a good overnight stay in this pleasant hotel set in the village of Alvescot in the Cotswolds. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable with a good supply of tea, coffee and biscuits. We enjoyed a plentiful Full English breakfast the following morning (we were unable to use the restaurant because the day we were there, Monday, it was closed – not unusual, of course, so no complaints). The only problem was the luke-warm shower in our room, which needs attention. It was, I suppose, more than compensated for by the positively scalding water from the hand basin tap. Anyway, overall, a pleasant stay, and we’d be happy to return.

After I had driven for 4 hours I wasn't expecting to have to drive again to get fed !. Booked two nights, Monday and Tuesday. Arrived at about 6pm after a long drive. The lady on reception was very chatty. After she explained the breakfast arrangements, I asked about an evening meal. 'Sorry, no evening food on Mondays and Tuesdays'. 'You can order a takeaway delivery, or drive to somewhere'. The hotel is at least a mile from the nearest other place to eat, and that was shut as well. I had to drive into the nearest town to get fed. The hotel is down country lanes. A 40min walk before dinner in the summer might be OK, but not in dark January, with snow and ice, and no road lighting. There is no indication of this severe limitation on their website, or on Booking.com. I looked everywhere but the only mention of no food is for Sunday. Apart from the lack of food, the hotel was reasonable. I stayed in the annexe, which is more like motel rooms, not the pretty 'country house' of the pictures. Because I had to eat out I never got to see the bar and facilities in the main building, only when I went in for breakfast, so I can't comment on them. The advertised '24 hour front desk' is a bit of a misnomer. On the second night, around 6pm, I needed to contact reception, so I walked to the front door, but it was locked. I rang the doorbell and spoke on the door intercom. The Manager said he would come to me. A minute later he appeared from round the side of the building, and we conducted our business, standing in the cold, on the doorstep !. All in all, it was not my best hotel experience. It might be better Wednesday to Saturday, but I can only comment on what I experienced on the days I was there.

This inn is pleasantly situated in a quiet village. It is surprisingly modern inside, given its beautiful vine-clad exterior and, perhaps, a little lacking in cosiness and charm as a consequence. The rooms are functional in style - which is no bad thing - although it would have been good to be able to say the same thing about the shower, which was weak and pointed in most directions. And please don't start me on the ridiculousness of the whole wet room concept - who wants to paddle in to clean their teeth after a shower? There is not a great deal of sound-proofing between rooms, although this is mostly made up for by the quiet location. The food was ok, standard fare for both the pleasantly served breakfast and evening meal. Good value.

Rooms clean and spacious, only comment being the water pressure in the main building is low which doesn’t allow for a good wake-up shower. Spacious parking area behind the main building.

We stayed for one night only and although it's in the middle of nowhere, the building itself has a lot of character. We found the Staff to be very friendly, polite and helpful, especially after we had left some items of clothing in the wardrobe when we left, and they very kindly offered to post it back to us free of charge! We didn't stay for an evening meal but the menu looked very nice and the breakfast the next day was very good too. The only small complaint that we had was that our room was above the Bar, so it was a little bit noisy on occasions. Overall, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay in a very beautiful and picturesque part of town.

Lovely supper with friends at The Vines a few days ago - excellent, attentive service, and very good food indeed - all in a lovely, out of the way location and at a reasonable price. Highly recommended - absolutely nothing to criticize.

Ardy and Karen the owners are lovely, charm and friendliness personified. Accomodation is popular with local Brize Norton military staf so book early. Great wee base camp for exploring The Cotswolds. Bar art is interesting. Sunday lunch lovely. Walk off the excess of lunch with a wee walk.

I had the pleasure of staying here recently on business. What a great place, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable and have everything you need. I only had one criticism and that was the size of the TV in relation to its distance from the bed, I would have needed binoculars to view it, fortunately the staff are so friendly and welcoming that the only time spent in my room was sleeping. The bar is very comfortable and relaxed and the restaurant offers excellent food. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be staying again.

Working nearby and stopped here for dinner, staff were pleasant and the pizza was spot on, made in a pizza oven thick pieces of chorizo. Only issue for me was the selection of ales, there was only one.

I came here on my Works Christmas Do. The chef had 3 weeks notice to come up with something that was vegan but Christmasy for me.I was disappointed to say the least at what I was served all they could say in their defence was "we don't really get many vegans so we didn't know what to cook".I said "you could of googled some recipe ideas?"Anyway I had parsnip soup (this was actually quite nice), reheated risotto (it had to go back as it was half hot and half cold where they had microwaved it) and a bowl of chopped up fruit for dessert :( (literally grapes, apple, banana, orange) no soya cream or dairy free ice cream to liven it up abit.Everyone else after they had enjoyed their desserts were offered chocolates and mince pies with their coffee and they said they didn't have anything to give me. Fair enough if I had given them no notice but they had been given 3 weeks!!The chef didn't seem to take any pride or care with my dinner, just a "that'll do attitude" :(

generally pretty good, everything you need is right there. Shame it's the winter now as the nights are too dark and you can't go exploring the local countryside but room to a good standard. Even the apple moulded table light - truly odd and unique at the same time. Only minor criticism would be that the bathroom/shower is a wet room, which in my humble opinion, doesn't really work too well in the UK. Whole shower room floor is soaked after you've finished and it's too cold to dry so you end up with wet feet everytime you re-enter. Probably be ok if you don't wash your hair.Other than that, happy with staying here for one night. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on quality.

Although the hotel is clean and so are the rooms, the rooms have a musty smell, uninviting and as if they're not used often. Clean however worn. Would prefer accommodation more modern or refurbished. Unfortunately there aren't many in this area to serve Brize Norton.

Stopped for one night last week and found The Vines up a quiet lane. Plenty of parking and a warm welcome. This is a restaurant and bar with rooms, There are some rooms outside in a small annex and others in the main building. I was upstairs and the room was quit comfortable with en suite facilities. Little niggles are the glass shelf above the sink, why do hotels etc insist on this stupid location. As usual it was on a slope so nothing could stay on it. In addition you usually hit your head on the shelf on the way down for a face wash or on the way back up!! No shelf in the shower either so have to put shampoo etc on the floor. The shower was very good and the towels also good. Tea and coffee provided plus small tv. Dinner was very good with a steak and vegetables plus the beer 'Old Hookey' was particularly good. Good selection of desserts but settled on the cheese selection. Breakfast was very good with a buffet of cereals and juice with the waiter providing cooked food to order.

I was with my wife, daughter and 1year old grandson. We had an excellent meal. Very good food and excellent service. Reasonably priced. Downed with well kept Hook Norton beer. Added attraction, it was dog friendly for 2 dogs. We most certainly will go again when in Chipping Norton. Roy

First time at The Angel, en route to The Forest of Dean. It was great all round. For a Monday lunchtime this quaint pub was buzzing. Whilst we were there they had to turn lots of people away as they were fully booked. There was a roaring log burner - always welcome! The food was delicious. A lovely selection and appetising specials also. The beetroot ravioli was delightful as was the chilli squid (which can easily be chewy!) but it was soft and flavoursome. And as for the special chocolate fondant - stunning! Will definitely be back!

We have just returned from a one night break at The Three Horseshoes. We made a late booking and only one room available -Saddlers - which was a lovely, comfortable room and had everything we needed, and well decorated. En-suite was nice with a good shower. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t brilliant, so we only spent a brief time sat out in the garden, but has a lovely courtyard area and grassed lawn area, overlooking fields at the back with plenty of seating; would have liked to have been able to spend more time relaxing there. We had an evening meal near the fire (in June!) and we both loved all 3 courses; thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast was also lovely with plenty of choice and set us up well for the day. The location is beautiful, and there seemed to be several good walks to go on had we been luckier with the weather. The pub has been updated very nicely and suits our taste of the modern clean, fresh and comfortable look. The atmosphere was nice and all the staff were pleasant and very helpful. We’ll definitely return and hope for less rain so that we can enjoy the sunshine in the beautiful garden!
