The food was very good service was good and staff friendly

Bit dated, could do with a clean, friendly staff. Our pod was very low, I'm 5ft 7in and could only just stand up in it, others were higher, choose wise when booking a pod

Nice lunch both had fish & chips very tasty and well cooked

My wife was taking part in a cycling event starting from the Fire College in Moreton so booked for the pub campsite for 2 nights plus we booked to eat on Friday and Saturday evening.We were made to feel very welcome. Pitches are not marked which did mean that some people took up rather more than their fair share of space. Our motorhome is not much larger in footprint than a pick up 4x4 vehicle so we did manage to squeeze in.Camp site is small and has a cleverly constructed block that contains to family sized bathrooms with shower sink and loo these were kept very clean. Separate shower cubicles and a toilet were attached to the pub.There is a larger but separate campsite next door as well which we did not know about until visiting.The McMillan Way footpath passes this adjoining campsite so lovely walks can be had.The pub is on a busy junction of the A436 and the A44 so there is traffic noise and it does make a right turn out of the pub entrance very difficult so just turn left and double back when convenient.The pub was nicely decorated fairly recently by the look of it in a contemporary style. We ate in the snug and the pub was happy to allow dogs inside which was great and very different from the Red Lion in neighbouring Little Compton who when we went in said they did not allow dogs inside but were annoyed that the owners two dogs followed us out of the bar - double standards there!Food in the Greedy Goose was very good. My wife thought her steak was one of the nicest she had eaten and had the same on the following evening. It was served with sautéed potatoes and fine green beans which was a nice change. I had Thai curry which was excellent and a vegetarian curry the following night which again was really good and would only have been improved with pilau rather than short grain white rice. We shared desserts both nights and I would say the food was very reasonably priced.The staff were extremely friendly and gave the stay that little extra that would make us return. Thanks especially to Cora who our dog Woody thought was lovely too!

We stayed in the lovely little campsite, had the most amazing roast - slow cooked feather blade of beef. Great service from Cora and Rachel. Will definitely be back!

More of a weekend meal night out, not priced for midweek. Nice food and good service. Apparently it's closing down within a few months, already been sold.

Shocked at the good reviews! Especially the nice quiet comment as it's anything but quiet the road noise is horrendous day and night the facilties are poor and dirty.The pods are run down and extremley close together also the photos are deceiving and not current. The price of our stay per night highly overpriced the only positive was the friendly staff Needless to say we will never return to this site neither would we recommend it to friends and family 😖

Hadn't booked but still warmly welcomed for lunch on 18 09 2021, which was chosen from a wide menu, perfectly cooked and presented by friendly, helpful staff. Will make a return visit at the earliest opportunity. Highly recommended.

Shortage of staff meant they were not serving food ,(reason for only three stars )hope things get better for them because it looked like a really nice place that is family friendly.

Lovely little pub, real ales, great food, very welcoming - we have been coming here for the past 5 years during our annual Cotswolds camping trip and never had any complaints - love it.

Me and my partner stayed in one of the huts for 2 nights at the beginning of last week. We were greeted by 2 lovely female staff members who were very friendly and explained how the facilities worked for us. The hut itself was ideal for a couple getaway and was a great deal! Kettle and heater is provided for you and the basket of tea and coffee from the staff was a nice touch. A great area to stay for walks and a relaxing time. Will definitely come again soon!

Just had the best roast beef Sunday lunch ever at the Greedy Goose. It's actually a slow cooked blade of beef, with all the trimmings. Absolutely lovely. Great service , so pleased we booked, as it does get very busy forsunday lunches. Not surprising really especially with the quality and amount of food on the plate.

Friendly staff, but food very, very bland, my partner did eat most of his i will say, but i was only able to manage a few bites of my meal. When asked by staff member if everything was ok, did say that my meal was bland and i had hardly touched it. Response was that she would inform the Chef. We were still charged full price

Arrived here late on a Tuesday evening after being for covid jabs in chipping Norton, thought we'd stop in on way back. They were really kind and told us if we got our order in quickly they'd process it before a large group who were gradually arriving at the same time. Nice food, my partner had a burger which was massive and tasty. Great service, we will be back

Nice roadside stop with good food and beer. They also have a field for camping at the back with showers and toilets at the pub; accessible to campers 24/7.

We were accommodated when we popped in without a booking and were very pleased with the friendly atmosphere inside. Having ordered the red pesto chicken burger and the sweet potato curry (great variety for vegetarians), both our plates were clean once finished, which very rarely happens.

Having read some positive reviews , we ate here while camping close by in Charlbury, while there was nothing wrong with the food i thought is was “average” at best and actually really expensive 4 starters ,2 adults mains , 2 kids pizzas and 2 puds £120 … would we eat here again - no . On the plus side the staff were Lively and very attentive

We loved camping here, it's quite rocky undr the grass so buy strong pegs, but that is probably the only bad thing I can say about this site. The showers and toilets were clean and regularly checked. We only popped into the bar for one drink but it's quite close to the towns and supermarkets. Really helpful and pleasent owners. Would definitely come back here, especially for the price. The kids loved it ❤️

I stayed the night in the campsite behind the pub in early June, when we were having the heatwave. I was cycle touring and had planned to go further that day, but I'd simply run out of juice and needed to stop for the night. I thought it was really good. I had a couple of pints of a nice cider to help me recover from the days 70 odd miles of cycling in the bar which was nice, clean, and the lady behind the bar was friendly and very helpful. The campsite was good, decent showers, toilets, washing and washing up facilities, well maintained and very welcome after the long day. It was quiet overnight too. I didn't eat in the bar, I'd brought food to cook myself, but I probably would next time. It's a lovely area to cycle, and I'll definitely go back again.

Great location, lovely pub, friendly staff. Camping was affordable and relaxed. Lots of good local walks, sites like the kings stone and lovely neighbouring villages like Stone-on-the-wold and Bourton-on-the-water. Will be back!

Stayed on their glamming site for a couple of nights and ate out at the Greedy Goose both evenings. Dogs welcome in the restaurant and so are humans. Good selection of real ales and I can recommend the locally made faggots and chips

Food was good staff very friendly but if your going to charge top end prices for drinks and automatically add a 10% service charge then the whole place needs to be smartened up, very scruffy. Just a little bit disappointed.

Dined here during the covid 19 period in late June 21. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Had the dish & chips meal which although was full of flavour was let down by the portion size considering the price of the meal. I had a chocolate brownie for dessert and it was that small of a portion it was hidden under a scoop of ice cream. Would I eat here again ? The truthful answer is no, but only due to the fact of paying premium prices for economy portion sizes. Note to management, the WC was filthy.

Only popped in for a pint after work and although I live locally, it is my first visit. The beer is sparkling and the welcome from the barmaid is second to none. Will be coming back more often.

My reviews are normally just focused on the food. Of that I was not disappointed and my family and I really enjoyed our Sunday meal. Being American I'm very particular about my beef but the beef roast today was phenomenal. Portions were large and left very full from a very enjoyable meal. We've been to posher restaurants that were higher rated but frankly the food here was just better. I have not had any of the other menu yet but will be back to try more. Kudos to the chef and the amazing beef.

Despite reading some very food reviews, we were a little underwhelmed with our food experience. On a positive note, the staff were amazing, really polite, friendly and attentive.

We've stayed in many glamping pods in the past and this was the basic of them all. We had booked 2 nights and after we arrived we debated driving back home we were that disappointed. It was not worth the price at all! There were ants all over the walls and mainly in the main double bedroom. I am very allergic to insect bites so I was luckily prepared and had repellant but it didn't make a comfortable stay. Deciding to sleep on what felt the cleanest single bed was still disappointing. The mattress was and all extremely thin, thinner than a static home mattress I'd say. I think they must have known there was an ant problem as that bed had a few dead ants on the mattress when we arrived. Amenities very basic understandable given covid. Our main lights didn't work and the front door is designed to be able to open the top while the bottom is shut and this lock had been put on wrong so we couldn't use this function and having two dogs with us this was proven hard to be able to 1- get fresh clean air in & 2- stop the dogs from escaping.We also ate dinner there which we were extremely shocked how the inside & back garden didn't look like the photos on their website. The Sunday dinner was nice and my dessert however felt shop/frozen bought not identifiable as what the menu had described it as. Beer was flat according to my partner. The staff are extremely chatting and friendly which made the whole thing a lot harder as we didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings but at the same time they never asked how everything was in the pod.

Other reviews had enticed us along to the Greedy Goose, so I was surprised at how quiet it was on our arrival. It was a Monday night but we did feel a little wary as, at first, we were the only clientele. Shown into a small silent room that only accommodated four tables we were somewhat reticent, especially as the room resembled a doctor’s waiting room (when you were allowed to wait to see a doctor). Why no music? The place does need some atmosphere. Saying all that the service and the pizzas were wonderful and the lady that looked after us all night was very attentive, helpful and friendly.

We came to the Greedy Goose earlier this week for dinner. We were welcomed straight away and staff were very attentive throughout. The food was absolutely delicious and we left completely clear plates - I had the beef roast and my partner had a burger. We had halloumi to start with was also lovely and well presented.Really nicely decorated in the restaurant - airy with the doors open. My only recommendation would be to have had a low level of background music, but it did not ruin the meal in any way for us.Covid measures were great - hand gel on arrival and tables nicely spaced.Shout out to the bar man/manager who really made us laugh - good luck with your future endeavours!

Decided to pop in for some lunch and was served by Cora who was delightful very friendly. Nothing was too much. We shared the beef hash starter with was divine and then we all had homemade beef burgers and they where lush melt in the mouth with a nice little salad on the side. Overall great time Cora was a wonderful waitress and the food is to die for.

Just had a meal here on way to rollright stones. Wow, food was amazing! I had fish and chips and I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and my hubby had steak and he said it was delicious. We both give the meal 10/10! Highly recommend.

Even though they were sadly under staffed due to a staff being sick, we got our meal really quickly. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Basic camping, next to a busy road that quietens down at night. For what you pay, I would expect better toilet and shower facilities. They weren’t maintained through the day, but when we mentioned they were unclean the owner sorted it straight away.

We had a fantastic evening, the food was perfect and plenty full, the staff are nice, plight and full of humour we were looked after by Rachel and Cora for the evening and although they were so busy food and drink was brought to us in no time the bar has a wide variety of beverages so perfect way to end the evening thank you very much guys we will come again

We had pleasant stay overnight in the grounds of the pub - good facilities which were clean. Great meal at the pub in the evening with courteous staff and covid rules all abided by.

First time in the cotswolds, came here for dinner and we encountered the most lovely , welcoming staff ever! Shout out to Cora, Rachel, and Jimmy. The three of them were the best wait staff i've ever had! Incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, made amazing recommendations and were such a joy to be around. Will definitely be back for more delicious food and great conversation!

Only stopped for coffee to break our journey and it was a very good place with friendly and polite staff very comfortable with an open fire going

This was brilliant with delicious food and sizeable portions. It was very cosy and had excellent chairs.

Really loved the pods. We stayed with our two girls who enjoyed the whole experience. We booked into the restaurant for the evening and had three courses. My partner loved the ale and I had some beautiful red wine. The kids meals were huge. I had the Moroccan meatballs and my partner had the pea and mint soup. We had the local sausages and mash and the duck noodles for main. Both were beautifully presented and really tasty. We will be back again to stay and dine.

Wow, we stayed overnight in our caravan. The staff, particularly Cora & Rachel were lovely & really went out of their way to accommodate all of us. The food was delicious & reasonably priced. We’ve already booked our next trip so let’s hope Covid doesn’t have other plans !!!!

Comer fuera en el momento del covid puede ser una experiencia mixta en el mejor de los casos, pero disfrutamos mucho de nuestra visita a la hora del almuerzo al Greedy Goose. La bienvenida fue cálida, la comida excelente (mi hamburguesa vegetariana habría alimentado a dos) y la experiencia en general se sintió covid: segura. ¡El personal ni siquiera levantó una ceja cuando mis hijas abrieron por un solo postre para compartir! Y, aunque hay un cargo por servicio, se me preguntó explícitamente si estaba feliz de que se agregara antes de que se sumara mi factura.

Stayed in a family cabin, lovely cabin clearly new however leaks in a couple of places (not on beds). Reccomendations would be lights on the way to the toilet, complimentary bottled water next to the kettle. Steps were a couple of breeze blocks so soft lighting may be useful in seeing in the dark. Hope to return one day.

We had Sunday roast. Generous portions, nice thick slice of pork, plus crackling and apple sauce. Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, 3 veg and extra gravy available. Friends had beef which was slow cooked...melt in the mouth. Friendly attentive service. Recommended.

Nice friendly pub, great tasty meal. We were glamping in one of their pods. Nice 2 night stay. I feel with a bit of TLC they pods could be better & they could charge more as it’s a great location for visiting surrounding Cotswolds.

Can only speak for the restaurant side of things, but the dinner I had here years ago still ranks as the best meal I've had in my life. Burgers do not come any better, and I remember having some of the ice cream, and even boring flavours like vanilla were done so astounding well with such depth of taste. I recall service being great and prices being fair. My commendation does not come any higher.

Pod era agradable y la cama era cómoda. El ruido de la carretera es un problema real y las cápsulas podrían necesitar algo de tlc. Por ejemplo, no hay persianas en las puertas y no solo las nuestras en muchas de ellas. La luz en un dormitorio no tenía un interruptor, lo que significaba que no se podía encender. No es un problema para nosotros, ya que solo usamos el dormitorio, pero podría ser un problema. Le pedí al personal algo de cartón que resolvió el problema de las persianas, pero no lo suficientemente bueno tbh. El personal era fantástico (nos alojamos 3 noches) y vimos algunos empleados diferentes, pero todos fueron muy amables. Los baños y las duchas limpias mientras estuvimos allí. Política de Covid vigente y utilizada en general. Menú en el pub opciones muy limitadas que si nos quedamos más tiempo habría sido un problema. NOTA Las cápsulas son solo para el dormitorio y el "comedor". No hay instalaciones para cocinar y no hay inodoro ni ducha. Esto no está muy claro en el sitio web y algunas opciones de glamping son un lujo fantástico, pero son básicas. El sitio se encuentra en el cruce en T de dos carreteras principales A, lo que significaba un ruido constante incluso durante la noche. Tal vez sea un gran problema si está bajo una lona, ya que ciertamente afectó el sueño en la vaina de madera. Probablemente no regrese, pero esto se debe al costo y las instalaciones y definitivamente no es un reflejo del personal.

Rachel y Jimmy fueron extremadamente amables y acogedores. Called in for a lunchtime drink.The service was prompt. Ordered some chips and garlic bread although all we really wanted was a few bar snacks but they don't offer crisps or the like. Pleasant enough but if you want a quiet drink then move inside or the terrace as the front of the pub is right on a busy junction.

Apareció para tomar una copa después del trabajo, por lo general no pasa de esta manera, así que decidió echarle un vistazo. 2 variedades de sidra de barril, Thatchers y Kingstone Mixed Berry. Thatchers escogidos, sidra bien cuidada y el personal era cortés y amable. A la decoración le vendría bien una actualización, pero para ser honesto, es refrescante no estar en un pub que sea idéntico a cualquier otro pub de la zona. Aquí solo pedí papas fritas, las sirvieron rápidamente y calientes.

Tasty food, friendly staff, nice location with a bit of camping too. Beer local, fresh and well kept, a limited selection of quality draught beers rather than a bar-long length of average ones. The food as you can see from the picture is straightforward but very nicely done. Dogs welcome too. :-) Will visit again when we're back in the Cotswolds...

We were recommended this pub..the place itself needed a good tidying up but the food was fantastic we both had the beef Sunday lunch which was plentyful followed by coffees .. lovely would recommend the food anytime.

We were really surprised when we arrived at the Greedy Goose Campsite. On the phone we were told the campsite was large with plenty for the kids to explore. We arrived to find the campsite was most probably once the pubs beer garden....definitely not large at all. We booked our pitch in June and despite still being in a pandemic we felt like we were packed in on the campsite like sardines! There was no space on the camping ground for any kind of privacy we were all very close to each other nor was there anything for the kids to explore. Due to the amount of campers staying on the site it’s was also impossible for them to play a ball game etc. Nowhere does it mention that the pub is on the corner of two very busy noisy roads.The gate at the back of the campsite was also left unlocked and it would be very easy for a young child or dog to wander out of the gate directly on to a busy road. Loud road noise can be heard day and night, at night if cars drove along the road with their full beam lights on we found they illuminated the whole tent, so this happened every 10 minutes or so. There is nothing for kids to do on this site and nowhere is in a safe walking distance due to how busy the road is and no pavements. The shower/ toilet amenities were flooded and smelly. Although cleaned in the morning they were not cleaned regularly like the notice on the door suggested so were pretty nasty come 6pm onwards. We were also disappointed to be asked by the owner/manager if we planned to have a fire as it was going to be a cold night because when we asked if we could bring our fire basket we were told on the phone we were not allowed and the heat on a very would have been very welcome.He did say we could use the one on the site however this was the other end of the campsite and if we had we’d have been sat in front of Someone else’s pitch. The photos of the website are very cleverly taken It looks much nice than it really is. This campsite is definitely not what we expected, so much so we cut out stay short and left a day early. They do have a picnic table for each pitch which is a nice touch and other than the toilets the campsite is clean. To be honest I think they should charge twice as much per night and reduce the numbers by half. It would have been a much pleasanter stay if there were not so many crammed on a small site and that would have probably mean the toilet facilities remained more pleasant too.

Great staff, very friendly. I had ribs, these were superb. Wife had a pizza with salmon, not to great. A bit outaded inside but overall nice evening.

We didn't have a booking, but popped in and the staff managed to find us a table. Had a fabulous fish and chip meal..couldn't fault it. Very friendly place.

The photos online do NOT represent this place at all!The menu seemed good - the food was OK at best.The atmosphere, furniture etc was appalling and not what you’d expect from the online advertising or website.The only good thing about this place was the staff who were at least very friendly!Would not return.
