We had the function room for a group of 38 last night for Christmas dinner. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The food and service were outstanding, and the landlord even provided free transport as we were a large group. From the first point of contact the landlady handled all the arrangements efficiently and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Good to see the Fox back open, New manager/Chef is very welcoming. Food was really good, tasty hot and large portions. We had burgers and steak. Pub is kept much cleaner than previously, tables wipes and cleared quickly. We'll be back. We could see more staff were required before they really market the place again. It would benefit from a few smaller tables in the restaurant area.

We had previously visited this pub under its previous management where we had a great lunch. A little disappointed to find out the new management does not have a lunch menu anymore and there is only the main menu. Nevertheless we had stopped for lunch and committed ourselves. Food. Starters: We had a starters and a main. £9.50 for 6 pieces of calamari, and a smear of mushy pea on a plate, which in my opinion came straight out of a packet, and was an extortionate price for a disappointing plate of food. The other starter we opted for was chicken wings. For £8.50 we got 4 plain chicken wings drizzled with soy sauce and a scattering of sesame seeds, again not worth the money. Main course: the steak and ale pie was very good, home made a very tasty with plenty of veg and gravy. No complaints at all. However, the fish and chips was not so great. For £16 we were served a half decent bit of fish accompanied with 9 chunky chips and what was supposed to be mushy peas and tartare sauce. There was more tartare sauce than mushy peas but at least the lemon was chargrilled. Drinks: 1 x Diet Coke and a medium glass of wine which was very nice but at £10 a glass it should be. Service: it was quiet and we were served adequately. In summary, overpriced food and drinks. We usually do not mind spending good money on good food but unfortunately this is not the case here. A lunch time menu, as previously served, would help as other customers were also asking for sandwiches and lighter bites. It is a lovely pub in a lovely location.

If you prefer not to buy your cup of coffee with sugared milk from a branded global business that doesn’t pay taxes and pays for its CEO to jet-commute 1,100 miles to work and back, then Java & Co in Abingdon is the place for you. Charming service with a smile, excellent coffee, good pastries, a clean loo and that feeling of being welcomed into the community all make this a relaxing place to sit and watch the world go by. It helps that the view out of the window is a charming piazza-style street scene, and it helps that you know they probably walk to work: pavement footprint rather than the obscene carbon footprint imposed by a single man in his jet in the USA as he sets about proving by means of carbon fuel-powered flight how ludicrous his mission statement is when it witters about “every cup… nurture[s] the limitless possibilities of human connection”. Give me the real human touch of an independent coffee shop any time, like Java & Co. Did I mention they're really nice and make great coffee?

Had a takeaway, gotta say the food was Excellent. I had the chicken tikka methi and mushroom rice, wife had naan and a rogan sauce. Mixed tikka starter and onion bhajis. Friendly atmosphere a fair few dining in, lovely ambiance. Will definately go back, a very diverse menu. Well done

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great location to sit outside and watch the world go by but the old woman that works there has no customer service skills, she’s rude and talks under her breath right infront of you but I called her out this time as she’s done it before. There’s just no need for it. If she isn’t happy working there or can’t be polite to customers that are actually nice and polite to her then the job isn’t for her. All the other younger staff are well mannered, brilliant communication and customer skills. I feel sorry for them working there with her. Must be tough!

We have been working in the area for some time, and we normally use the Premier Inn/Travelodges near by. However, this was a last minute job and I had passed La Fontana several times. I popped in and managed to book in. What a find!! Nice friendly atmosphere, family run and a first class room! Had dinner in the restaurant, and whilst there were only a few diners early evening, the food was obviously freshly prepared and very nice. Included in the price was breakfast so I indulged in the full English before setting off again. Suffice it to say, La Fontana will now be our 'go to' place when we are down that way!!

I can't seem to leave another review so I will add to this one. Again we ordered from her at 7pm and the food didn't arrive until just before 9pm! We tried calling but got no answer!! Again the order was wrong and it was cold! It is clear to that you are not taking reviews into consideration because this is the 3rd time we have ordered from here within the last 3 months and it is the same every time! I don't want to have to order my food at 5pm just to get it before 9pm! _______________________________________________ My wife ordered takeaway around 7:30pm, by 9pm we thought it would be best to check if our food was on its way. Food ended up arriving at 9:15pm. We waited 1hr 45 minutes for our food to arrive and the order was wrong. The garlic bread turned out to be curly fries and the cans of Rio turned out to be Coke. The food was still hot so it was clearly only just made when my wife called. This isn't the first time we have ordered for delivery from here and each time it follows the same pattern. We order from here because the food it's nice and it different from the selected takeaways of pizza, pizza, kebab and Chinese with a hefty delivery charge that we have available to us. Please please work on your delivery times.

We have given this coffee shop enough chances now. Having been in the hospitality trade we appreciate the difficulties with staff and keeping customers happy but we have run out of patience. The last couple of times we have been in people have been waiting a long time for everything and staff don't seem to have the correct skills for the job. Today we waited 30 mins for 2 coffees and when the next order that was made wasn't ours we left. A young couple left as our order was taken as they had obviously not had theirs taken. It was not overly busy but seemed in chaos. We are now in Costa and got served within 5 minutes with conversation.marmalade do make good coffee but make sure you have a lot of tolerance if you go here
