The Extraordinary Hare in Vale of White Horse

Came back to the Hare after reading all the good reviews since it’s been taken on by it’s new owners. The latest reviews were right. We received a lovely welcome and as it was early were given a choice of tables. Although all the starters looked lovely we took a peep at the dessert menu and decided to go for a main and dessert. I along with two others chose the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and finished off my evening with the dark chocolate mousse with salted caramel ice cream which was delicious. One of our party had the fish and chips which had amazingly crispy batter and was served with all the usual accompaniments including homemade tartare sauce. The customer service was excellent, very attentive. The prices I thought were comparable with other pubs in the area. We all said that we will definitely be returning.

The Extraordinary Hare doesn’t have a great track record and sadly has closed a number of times. We were pleased to hear that it had opened again so we thought we’d give it a try. It was excellent. The team looking after you are extremely personable and the pub itself is really cosy. The food was so good. We had the steak which was cooked to perfection and all the vegetables were so good. It’s not cheap but it’s absolutely worth a visit. There is no website yet but we are really hoping they do well as we want to go again. The pub was busy so that’s a good sign.

Ate here again – a small group this time - and enjoyed it again. Good food, good service. Narrow menu but even though it was only a couple of weeks between visits I still chose something different to the previous visits. It was midweek lunch and so very quiet but that is to be expected. It is busy Friday/Saturday so I would say book.

Excellent chef and staff. Very helpful with little ones and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and visit for husband’s birthday. The scallops and steaks were cooked just as they should be which means the chef knows what he’s doing. Will definitely return. This FB page needs revamping . Their phone number is 01235 797372

Decided to take the short drive to the Hare as heard it had reopened. We weren’t disappointed - I had a very enjoyable Tiger Prawn pasta dish which my partner had a burger. Both of us enjoyed our meals. It also makes a big difference for us when dogs are so welcomed as we’ve got an old chap now - who can’t be left alone. The staff were very welcoming. Will be back and would recommend those who haven’t been to the Hare since it reopened to give it a go.
