My sister and I walked some distance with my grandson in a pushchair to go to the Steventon Bakery cafe, when we went in the downstairs was full of zig zag one way tables selling their produce and when we asked we were told the cafe was still shut. My sister explained the signs outside were very misleading and didn't state the cafe was closed and the rey we got was , those signs were there before covid and they didn't think they needed changing as people knew the cafe was closed. People who have the Internet and can check before hand but when you drive by and see the signs, you go by those also. The bakery need to update their signs to help their customers with communication of what's going on. Also, not sure why the cafe is still shut?

We first visited this local bakery by chance whilst driving past and have visited multiple times since. Overall, the baked goods are very hit-and-miss. The chocolate pain-au-chocolat were delicious one time but very bread-like (not at all flaky pastry) another time. Would visit again but would take care when choosing items.

Need to up their game! Even though we made a reservation we waited a good 10 minutes to be seated. Service was friendly if not slow although they seem to have plenty of staff. We booked the afternoon team for 3 and ordered our tea which we had to chase as we waited over 20 minutes and were on our cakes before it came, and was served in tall coffee cups, just not very dainty. The cake selection was uninspiring and we asked for a sponge cake which they did bring over. We asked for a top up on tea and was told that this was an extra charge?? I wouldn’t recommend as there are so many better places to go for afternoon tea!

I am a British Nordic Walking Instructor based in Sutton Courtenay, and yesterday following a recce the week before to the Bakery, took a large number following our walk round the village. The staff were tremendous, and everything we had requested, tables reserved and the great refreshments meant our morning was enhanced despite of the weather. If anyone has not visited you just do not know what you are missing. Just check out the website and try all the bakery has to offer. Very large car park and great atmosphere inside. All credit to the staff. Thank you.

Went for Sunday lunch and had beef. Asked how you wanted it cooked, asked for medium rare. Food arrived, beef was well done. Yorkshire puddings were dry and the vegetables hard. Other little things, asked for horseradish- tiny dollop left on the side of the plate rather than left on the table. Gravy was also not enough - looked at other tables when we finished and they all had small jugs with more gravy.Having bought bread and cakes before which we really good, I expected more.

I came to this cafe yesterday with 2 other family members, this was our 2nd visit. We had coffee, tea, bacon bap and sausage bap, which were very good. The service was good and we found most of the staff friendly. We were sat upstairs and did find it quite cold in there. Would recommend this place and would suggest people book table as very busy by the time we left.

We visited here on Sunday with the family as we heard they had started serving Sunday lunches - we're always looking for places serving Sunday lunches as it saves me a job and is a nice way of catching up with the family! The location is lovely and the building is fab - new build but looks like a barn conversation. They serve two meats and a veggie option. The food was wonderful quality and cooked to perfection. The kids loved it and ate it all (certainly don't do that when I cook a roast ;-)). The puddings were delicious as well. Service was quick and friendly and the wine list was fab too! Really pleased to find a new place for Sunday roasts - will definitely return!

Lovely place to meet up for coffee and cake! One practical point. ..can you put permanent up outside??! I followed satnav and not being familiar with the area struggled to find the place, as wind had blown the portable signs over and certainly not obvious to me!The actual place is perfectly lovely. Great friendly staff and delicious cakes!

A really airy modern building with atmosphere - high ceiling and including genuine beams. Ample parking and easy access to A34. Staff were polite and helpful, but service could have been quicker the breakfast time we were there. The food was good and prices reflect the local sourcing etc so not cheap but reasonable/ what you would expect. A lovely place to eat and catch up with friends.

We had breakfast last week. My mum’s cooked breakfast came out first no sign of mine because the waitress had forgot to order 2 breakfasts even though it was not full, She did apologise but I asked if I was going to get a free hot drink for waiting for my breakfast to be cooked, as she did not offer. When my breakfast arrived my toast was really burnt and I sent it back to be redone, my mum was half way though her breakfast my the time mine arrived. I felt embarrassed sending it back it shouldn’t of happened in the first place, sloppy customer service. Come on guys get your act together! Will not be returning

Ordered their full breakfast. The first thing that struck me was that the TWO slices of toast turned out to be two HALF slices ! (Mean for a tenner). Then sadly it went downhill from there. For a quality establishment the food was a joke. The sausage looked barely cooked inside and the black pudding (an extra £1.50 for ONE SLICE) was literally soaked in oil. You could push your fork on it and it oozed out. Even the waitress was horrified. I visited because I was told it had a good reputation. Well I have eaten better food in roadside greasy spoons. (With less grease !).

We come here nearly every weekend for brunch, lunch or cake! Our favourite is brunch as we feel that they offer the most at this time of the day. The service is really good and fast, and they make you feel very welcome! The food is also really yummy, and they offer a wide range of breads, cakes, tarts, cheeses and jams etc. for you to buy on your way out! However, ff you come later in the day, they have often run out of some of the menu. The bakery have also been extremely helpful when we have come 5 minutes before they stop serving food and they have been more than happy to take our order!

Saturday mid morning visit. Food is lovely albeit on the expensive side eg. £5 for a small quiche). Had toast and marmalade this time. Toast was light but no choice of type of bread, strange considering they bake lots of different types on site. Butter and marmalade portions a little light, no honey or Marmite but a decent sized pot of tea. Took a while to be seated, although there seem to be lots of staff running around.

All the cakes were delicious - the warm lardy cake was the best I've ever eaten.

I’m from the North West originally however, I have been living in South Oxfordshire for 4 yrs now so not really lost my accent. We are always looking around for nice places to eat for when family & friends come to visit. I also own a local business. So I often recommend Steventon Bakery. However, I agree with alot of the reviews on here. (Web in general). Ladies it’s a lovely place, very clean & nice atmosphere to come & the foods fab. However, it’s let down by some very slow service. Our table wasn’t cleared we waited that long today 26th March 2019 that we decided to just leave the pots, not have another cofeee etc & pay downstairs. One of the chair legs was broken. Part of that chair was left to one side. I’m only 8 stone & it gave way on me. That could have been an elderly person that it broke on, you would have had a law suit on your hands. Anyway, I had my parents with me we decided to buy bread, lardy cakes etc to take back home & some to take back up North. My dad doesn’t like display items that are not covered up by glass domes, so I asked for fresh lardy cakes from the kitchen. The older ladies attitude was so rude. I was shocked. She was irate with me for asking, very argumentative and wasn’t impressed that I didn’t want the two left on display. Yes I purchased two for £4 each. I would have purchased more items but my mother said she would rarther not spend anymore money there! This has let the bakery down the young staff are lovely but please you need to be quicker & please can we have improved customer service on bakery counter. The customer is always right. I will be coming back fingers crossed this is addressed. I know you don’t have to advertise but you will lose customers with having staff with bad attitudes. If you don’t want to serve the general public then find another occupation.

I had heard of this Cafe, but never been until today and it was worth travelling the 30 miles to come to lunch. Easy to find, plenty of car parking, spacious cafe, great service. I was fascinated seeing the chefs at work through the large window behind the counter. Food was excellent - my OH had the Ploughman's and I the Carrot and Corriander soup, both delicious. A lovely selection of cake, scones, pasties etc. Good to be able to buy fresh bread too. We will most certainly return - hopefully for the breakfast next time. Thank you.

This was our first visit to the relocated bakery and restaurant. It presents very well from outside and in - so it all looked promising. We ordered drinks and light snacks (BLT, quiche) and waited. The restaurant was full - generally a good sign - but there was no indication that our relatively simple food order would take 45 minutes to arrive. The manageress noted that I was very unhappy about the whole episode and waived the bill. However, I would rather have had a prompt lunch than a free one. I gather from other reviews that there can be a "wait" of up to 30 minutes. Well why isn't that made clear when you arrive - so that you can make a decision as to whether you wish to stay - or to go elsewhere. And to cap it all, the BLT was good (though no choice of bread, strangely given the wide selection on offer in the bakery) but the salmon and broccoli quiche was poor.

Went to day about 10am. Three of us. We were offered a table by an open fire. Lovely as it was 2 degrees outside. Service was good prompt and polite. Mug of tea and breakfast came in a good time as I understand everything cooked fresh. The breakfast and the ingredients were very good. I certainly don't mind paying for good food and service. The building interior just made it. Will be going back, in fact this Friday morning but will finish breakfast with the bakery lardy cake or may be their Apple pie.

Took a butchers at the menu and decided to pop back in the week. Ever so glad I did, my wife and I both had the burger from the lunch time menu and it was "Fantastic" , proper onions not onion rings, their beautiful skin on hand cut chips. The staff seem very happy and it's hardly surprising considering they're working in such a "Fantastic" place. Will be popping back, there's so much to try on the menu.

We called in here as I’d never been and thought we’d try it out. We ordered two cheese scones with butter and two coffees and sat in the garden. Our very small scones arrived before the coffees, We thought as we buttered our not very cheesy cheese scones that the butter had a strange texture, the coffees were very small and not that hot. As we sat chattering I noticed on the butter wrapper, ‘use by 6/6/23’ The date of our visit being Monday 19th June!! My friend caught the attention of the waitress and told her we’d just eaten two weeks out of date butter, she just said ‘Oh sorry, I’ll tell the kitchen’ We sat for another 15 minutes half expecting maybe a further apology from the kitchen but nobody came near us, so we left having spent £12.30 on two small un-cheesy scones, stale butter and two small warm coffees. Obviously there won’t be a return visit.

Good to see the Fox back open, New manager/Chef is very welcoming. Food was really good, tasty hot and large portions. We had burgers and steak. Pub is kept much cleaner than previously, tables wipes and cleared quickly. We'll be back. We could see more staff were required before they really market the place again. It would benefit from a few smaller tables in the restaurant area.
