The best restaurants in Tandridge South East

This was held on the last Sunday in the month and was always an excellent meal. Nice people in a wonderful setting. It is a shame it has closed and I wish them well in retirement.

First impressions from the outside are really off putting. The front carpark is partially blocked by an old estate car and the back carpark almost full of scrap delapidated vehicles of all types. There are fridge and washing machine and kegs scattered about the grounds as well. This may have something to do with storm damage that’s mentioned but it should be cleared away completely not left to walk past on way to restaurant. Why the owners would want this as a reflection of their business beggars belief. Inside it’s supposed to be in the process of renovation but from the front entrance onwards the decor is very tatty and once again sets a poor impresssion. The food is ok but as someone else has mentioned the green veg is a mishmash of sorts and left a pool of water at bottom of plate. It’s needs bringing up to date fast and the carpark cleared to become a venue that you would like to return to.

We received a lovely welcome on our first visit to La Verde. The atmosphere was great and there was some live music as the evening went on. Staff were great, attentive without being in your face every five minutes. Lovely bottle of wine. But… we were there to eat and sadly the food did not match the expectations. We ordered the portabello mushrooms as a starter and were slightly shocked to get just one small mushroom with some mozzarella and tomato on top! The plate was filled with salad leaves! Bland and disappointing. The Italian meatball pasta I ordered was again disappointing and lacking in seasoning. Nothing special at all. My partner ordered the Fish stew which looked fabulous and the sauce was delicious. Very nice and a winner 👍 The sweet order was cheesecake with strawberries and balsamic glaze but was again underwhelming and bland sadly. This place has so much to offer if only the food matched the setting and ambience.

A recent visit with a group of Cyclists and we do enjoy our Coffee & Cake stops. Looks like a charming place and the cakes on offer looked good but on ordering and trying to pay I was told they had a NO CASH policy?! How Crazy is that??? In my opinion a very unwise precedent for a Small Business that clearly needs supporting as apart from us and 2 other people, the place was empty. As absolute TRACKABLE CONTROL over EVERYTHING WE SPEND is a very clear AGENDA We should make every effort to use MORE CASH and PUSH BACK its removal in favour of the CBDC's (Central Bank Digital Currencies) the Government is gagging to inflict on us. Every Small/Med Business in these times of Crisis after Crisis after Crisis deserve to keep as much of their hard earned money as possible so, let's not be fooled into thinking everything Digital is purely for our 'Convenience' as nothing could be further from the TRUTH. I don't carry Cards when Cycling and I certainly wouldn't entertain Payments by Phone either but more Importantly ... We Have A Right To Use CASH as Legal Tender wherever & whenever we choose to do so. Out of Principle, I use CASH over any other payment now. As a result I went without and so did The Old Post and nor will I return or recommend until they embrace the use of CASH again.

I visit and order from Kokoro with my boyfriend a lot. The food is always great especially the teriyaki chicken and it is at a good price. Love sushi

Our OAP care group were dropped off by carers who can drive and once we were seated, we had the most marvellous time and near the lavatories to boot! So to the venue. Easy parking, clean and super friendly welcome. We went all in for the full 'monty', and every plate was cleared and scored top marks. OJ’s and great coffee rounded off a terrific visit. Just a warning that this is a cash only establishment, which is a dying breed these days, however fun to meet the cash rich section of society. Thank you again we loved our visit

Don’t bother ordering from this place. Order cancelled after 25 minutes. Phoned them up and got a load of nonsense about the chef doing it..

The restaurant is lovely, set in the cloisters, the staff are attentive, very smartly dressed and the quality is good – possibly bordering on very good. However, the prices are now top end and higher than many London restaurants, for example, a fillet steak with a sauce and chips is priced at over £55 and this is before you include the 12.5% tip. That’s too much. A modest three course dinner, with a glass of wine, is starting to nudge £100 a head. I fear they are pricing themselves out of the market.

We have been going here for years. Always been great food and delivered in a timely manner. Tonight's takeaway was awful! Our meal was delivered on time, but the food was a disappointment! The Onion bargis were burnt and chewy, the poppadoms were stale and in general the food was not up to their usual standard. We all said it was like eating a meal that had been left in the microwave all night, then reheated. Money not well spent tonight.

Poor Chinese that is overpriced and portions fairly small. Unfortunately only one other option in the area which is just as poor. Oxted residents pay it as may be they do not realise how poor it is compared to other Chinese take always in London and elsewhere . Not going here again. I would recommend you avoid it unless desperate for a Chinese and can’t be bothered to cook a decent meal. Disappointing really

Really good quality food, use this one regularly and never disappointed. Staff are friendly and food always piping hot too.

The best Indian restaurant we have ever been to. The food was amazing. The service was exceptional. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Lovely salad box and mug of tea. Freshly prepared and very tasty. Just one tiny fault was that they had their radio on in the kitchen area which was a bit loud and they couldn’t always hear what the customers ordered. Perhaps turn the volume down just a tad! Apart from that it was perfect!

Ordered a takeaway from here and it was out of this world. So flavourful and huge portions. Chilli sauce is super spicy! Will definitely be ordering again!

I visited the Whyteleafe Park Pavilion on 14/11/22 with a couple of friends. Excellent hidden gem for good food and coffee. We had coffee, a bit of carrott cake and tried their Christmas panini - all of it was brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend as a place to visit for a coffee/cake/lunch, before walking round the park or heading up to the beautiful Riddlesdown Common.
