The Coach House Restaurant in Tandridge

First impressions from the outside are really off putting. The front carpark is partially blocked by an old estate car and the back carpark almost full of scrap delapidated vehicles of all types. There are fridge and washing machine and kegs scattered about the grounds as well. This may have something to do with storm damage that’s mentioned but it should be cleared away completely not left to walk past on way to restaurant. Why the owners would want this as a reflection of their business beggars belief. Inside it’s supposed to be in the process of renovation but from the front entrance onwards the decor is very tatty and once again sets a poor impresssion. The food is ok but as someone else has mentioned the green veg is a mishmash of sorts and left a pool of water at bottom of plate. It’s needs bringing up to date fast and the carpark cleared to become a venue that you would like to return to.

This is not a pub for a celebration meal. Mothers Day family lunch celebration was ruined in so many ways, it wd take me too long to give all the details. Whilst the staff were welcoming & trying very hard, it was just terrible in so many ways. Even though we were asked to pre order all of our food, thr first course took over 40 mins to arrive. There was 35mins between 1st & 2 course. The whole meal took 2hrs 45 mins & we are not slow eaters. There was a hair in my mushroom & olive pate. We ordered 2 GF meals for people with coeliac & they kept forgetting & bringing non GF bread & Yorkshire pudding. The sirloin steak was tough, the chips frozen & tasteless. Apple crumble was obviously out of a tin as the fruit was so sweet. Though the custard & crumble was nice. The veg with the roast was all over cooked, soggy roast potatoes, dried up carrots & a weird green mess of veg which included cabbage, beans,Brussels sprouts & asparagus all watery & mixed together. This place is very unloved & it shows. My advice -stay away.. and if the owners are ruse about our review, it is because they have no idea about how poor their service is. They looked really shocked when we told them on the day. But they did give us 10% off our bill, but that did not make up for a spiked day

The owners were very pleasant and even taxied us around a bit. The food is very good. Plenty of it and so much choice. We stayed 2 nights in Room 12. I must admit the surroundings around the rooms need to be tidied up. Old cars and lorries do not make for a nice view. The room was very clean though, which after all is the most important. We could not fault the staff and food.

Arrived for 1 night on a Monday ( restaurant and bar closed) was shown to my room no 14 was totally gobsmacked . It was filthy from bedroom to shower.filthy curtain,telly now working etc.i would have walked out then if I could have got a room elsewhere Needs total revamp.How can they actually charge people to stay here .?

The Open Mike evening was an incredible informal evening of talented musicians and quality restaurant menu. It was fun all the way! Thank you. Also, we shared a wonderful 80th birthday celebration where we had a complete section to ourselves. The caring attention, quality food, great service, excellent value enabled us to enjoy our own music and sharing of memories…even the family pet was allowed to stay! Highly recommend. Barbara Clark

When I’m with my dad this is one of our favourite pubs for lunch. Always a lovely welcome and we love the home cooking instead of standard defrosted microwaved fare in other pubs. Today dad had ham hock hash followed by a vegan knickerbocker glory and I had the vegan pie of the day, “chicken” which came with fabulous mashed potatoes and veggies and plenty of gravy. Everything was perfect.

A family business hit by the cover pandemic during which it received little financial support, but with their strong determination and character the owners Tracey and John will make the most of this restaurant's potential.Smiling faces, super service, excellent home cooking food at very reasonable prices is the strength on which they can build. When finances allow for the dining room to be redecorated and attractive fixtures installed, this restaurant will be a winner and highly recommended. I look forward to coming back. Good luck!

Last night 10 of us celebrated our friend's Birthday at this pub on Godstone Green. We go here regularly, as the hosts John and Tracey, and the food, are both excellent. Last night they surpassed themselves, my fish n chips were the best I’ve ever tasted and their steaks with crispy onions are divine. In these troubled times when pubs are trying to get back on their feet, it doesn’t hurt to give them a shout-out, especially when you get great service, food, and a calming atmosphere.

This is the 3rd pub in Godstone my friend and I have been. Unfortunately didn’t get off to the best start as I pulled in directly behind a lady in a large vehicle who then suddenly stopped mid way into the carpark, started reversing (evidently having not seen me waiting behind her) and then became angry and rude gesticulating at me as I sat there patiently trying to figure out what was happening. Slightly surprised to then discover she worked there! Was about to suggest going elsewhere to my friend but then ?Freddie came over and was very welcoming and friendly so decided to stay. Continuing on the positives, the small dining area was nice and clean. The beetroot and goats cheese tart was seriously good - beautifully presented, really delicious with a varied salad and full of flavour. The food alone would have got 5*. They were clearly gearing up for some live music in the main area which looked fun but we didn’t stay for that. The bill when it came was good value. We were surprised to see the service charge included without an indication of it being optional or discretionary. That said, we would have willingly paid more than 10% as the service we received once inside was perfect. After an upsetting first impression I was glad we stayed as we had a really nice meal. I just wished it had got off to a better start as made for a bit of an awkward atmosphere for me.

The presentation of the food, the huge portions, the passionate chef, the lovely staff (family run and very warm feel) ..makes this place, BRILLIANT! Plus the Veggie/vegan options are by far the best around.. hotdogs! Ice-cream sundaes! Vegan cheese board... There is no end to the wonders of their menu. You have to go and support! 🌱 Plus, they have a lovely cat around called Donut.. so you might even get a stroke! 🐾 I'm so glad to have found this place and I'm drooling looking at the pictures I have. Thank you !

I happened across this place with two friends when our breakfast venue turned out to be closed and after the initial disappointment, We thought to try this venue. And we were in for a genuinely delightful surprise, I hardly know where to start, lovely friendly welcome, delicious full English, OJ tea and toast. We could not fault the place and would highly recommend it for a breakfast stop. Their menu is wide ranging and healthy. Try it.

We stayed for two nights and would have liked to stay longer! Thank you for the great food, cozy accomodation, very clean room, and the outstanding service!!! You made us feel very welcome, so super friendly.

Our hosts John and Tracy could not have been nicer, good atmosphere in the bar, the food was really excellent, needed some gluten free meals usually a pain, not here, the rooms although dated were clean and warm, gave us a lift to the wedding venue, taxi services limited so was a godsend, all the staff friendly, a throughly enjoyable stay for all of us, would stay again and recommend it to anyone. Having had dinner and breakfast here all i can say is first class ,good food ,good service, yes deco might be a bit dated inside but the food more than makes up for and breakfast outside in the sun

Well, I visited Godstone spontaneously to meet a friend and we plumped for this restaurant because of the lovely outdoor seating surrounded by nice views and a fabulous old tree. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drinks - well prepared and well presented, friendly atmosphere, and very reasonable price. Great lunch.

Visited today with grandparents, had some sandwiches (off menu), a burger and the ploughman’s sharer. All portions were huge, burger was amazing and the ploughman’s had so much fresh produce - 3 people shared and it was more than enough! The bread was fresh too.All good was presented beautifully and the staff were super friendly to us all and overly accommodating. Would defo visit again.

Some restaurants try to fob you off with a sub standard veggie food which is an afterthought. Not here. Excellent stuff. We had the alternative roast meal with great side veggies too. Heavily recommend the 'Wellington and the Nut Roast.

Home delivery of fish & chips on a Friday, plus whitebait starter. Huge portions & good value. Nice touch to include after dinner chocs & funny anecdotes on the packaging

Wow. Where do I start. I’ve never felt so welcome in a place I have never been to before. The service was fantastic and we were greeted so warmly, we will be coming back for what I hope is years to come. The breakfast was phenomenal and I can’t thank you enough for making our evening! We hope to be a firm part of the godstone family! Thankyou so much for your kindness we will be back and I urge everyone to give the Godstone Inn your custom!

Since lockdown started, we have had many meals from the Godstone inn, eaten as takeaways. Their roasts are consistently good, as are their vegetarian options. The fish and chips are also good with a large portion of well-cooked fish, a choice of mushy or garden peas and their own, fresh, tartare sauce These are excellent value at the special takeaway price.

We've had a really enjoyable dinning experience at this cosy place, the service was outstanding. 5 star place 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

During lockdown and continuing, we have been taking advantage of the superb food via their delivery service. The burgers are some of the best I’ve ever had!For our anniversary we didn’t fancy going out for a meal so ordered a couple of the most succulent burgers you will ever have. Absolutely delicious as always, but more importantly was the thoughtfulness and generosity of the staff who also brought a card, a bottle of bubbly and some chocolates. This act of kindness really made our day, and I can’t thank them enough. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant locally.

I stopped here for lunch with my parents and son on a trip to Godstone where my dad grew up.As soon as we arrived, we had such a warm welcome with excellent and attentive service (sorry but we didn't get the young guy's name) where nothing was too much trouble. We sat outside as the weather was lovely. The lunch was delicious with generous portions all round.We were able to leave our car in the car park whilst we looked around Godstone after lunch and upon returning, were met by the owners who again were so welcoming, asking us about our day. We will definitely return and choose to stay overnight to explore more of the village.

On the 18th September 2020, my husband and I with our daughter and grandson, We had made the trip from Wales for my husband to revisit Godstone and show our grandson where he had spent his early childhood and where he went to school during the war years.My daughter had booked a table for lunch at The Godstone . We sat outside, and had a beautiful meal. the service was very great the staff pleasant and helpful. we had such a wonderful day, that we are already planning to return but will stay overnight. thank you everyone at the Godstone Inn

I booked a table for bank holiday Monday & every conceivable contact details were asked for & given. I was also advised that the Government Scheme wasn't being given on that day but we wanted to go there for their recommended fish & chips, so it didn't matter.My husband & I turned up to be told that they were shut & always were on Mondays. I explained my phonecall confirmation & was asked if we had travelled far, which is besides the point, & then blamed a temp for taking the booking.He didn't check to see if we had been booked into another day by mistake & was totally disinterested.I did email my concerns with the restaurant about taking bookings that that they can't fullfil but have not received an answer.It's such a shame but won't be going there again.

Living only 5 minutes walk from the inn/restaurant means it's nice and easy to go back to which will definitely be done. Had Sunday lunch today, plates piled high with piping hot portions of roast beef and plenty of veg, roast spuds, yorkshire puds etc, also an extra jug of gravy provided which we didn't ask for - nice touch. Only made one mistake, we both had a starter which meant neither of us fancied a dessert because we were too full, might have to skip the starter next time and try one. Smiling and attentive staff made it a very enjoyable lunchtime.

The staff were so friendly and the food was freshly cooked. This place is a must go if you are in Godstone for dinner. Its good value for food and restaurant has a homely atmosphere.

Warm welcome and very good pub food. Our party included a vegan, a vegetarian, an out-and-out carnivore and 2 omnivores. Everyone had something lovely to eat. Friendly service but not over familiar.

We ordered a takeaway during lockdown, and it was delivered with friendly faces and the food was amazing. Looking forward to eating from here again.

Due to the COVID-19 lockdown we used the Godstone Inn take away service last night. Highly recommend. We ordered 3 fish & chips, 1 cheeseburger and fries and a meat delight pizza. The portion sizes + presentation equally decent. So fresh and super tasty! Delivery service was an added bonus. We’ll definitely be recommending to our local friends and ordering again. Take away menu has a varied selection of starters, mains to suit everyone, and the most popular type of desserts (TIP - main portions are really generous so might be worth noting as, unfortunately, we were all too full to order desserts this time around). The after dinner chocolate mints were a lovely touch with ‘stay healthy and safe’ written on the bag. Thanks so much to all the team. We will definitely be ordering again!

Just had Lovely tasty take away Pizza. The Pizza’s were hot and fresh and delivered on time. Would definitely recommend to use this delivery service during this lock down time. Friendly gentleman efficiently took the order.

Superb home cooked food with a great choice at an amazing price. . Made a real change from the so called Gastro pubs that all have the same very average menu at very expensive prices for very little food. Staff were friendly,helpful and just trying to get their business going having taken over from previous owners. We were only visiting the restaurant but would highly recommend.

Really good food...haggis neeps & tatties you dont often find that and it really did taste good. Compliments to the chef!!! Really polite family run pub well decorated within. Rooms are being refurbished but a very comfortable bed and a great night sleep.

This family run restaurant offers a really good lunch menu alongside its a la carte. My wife and I both chose a whitebait starter which came with home-made tartare sauce. The coating was crisp and the whitebait cooked to perfection. The main courses did not disappoint. Portions were ample which meant we could not tackle to dessert menu.As far as the staff are concerned, they were attentive, efficient and charming. We shall certainly makle tyhis a regular venue for lunches out. Well done all.

Menu seemed to be aiming at gastropub, the biggest plus being a range of vegan food. Took the trouble to book, though they had lost the booking when we turned up. Both the lamb and the steak were unavailable. Food OK but nothing to write home about. Service on the slow side. Didn't feel inclined to bother with dessert or coffee. Surprised to see it virtually empty on a Saturday night, it was always packed under the previous owners. Not a disaster but not somewhere we would make an effort to go back to - the pub opposite would be more likely to get our custom.

We went to Godstone Inn for a friend’s birthday meal. The vegan menu was extensive (I think 7 starters, 7 mains, 6 desserts). I had cheese scone with portobello mushroom and tomatoes cooked on the vine as a starter; mushroom, ale and lentil pie with veg, cheesy mash and gravy main. The food was great and portions so large I couldn’t finish the main and skipped dessert! My partner had a vegan prawn cocktail and Thai green curry for main. Our first time there, but will definitely return.

I've now had two incredible vegan meals at The Godstone. Although not vegan himself, the talented chef is so passionate about making creative, tasty vegan dishes, and I've loved everything I've tried. The new owners have only been running it for around a year and are gradually updating the place.

I could see a lot of hard work has been achieved in making this eating experience worth visiting. Run by a family. The experience enjoyable and the staff (Freddie) provide a very professional service. Food excellent portions. I feel the Godstone inn will be a welcome plus to Godstone.

I last visited the Coachhouse/Godstone Inn a few years ago. It’s now under new ownership and the interior has been somewhat modernized but still has a charm about it. The menu is more casual eating now - I can remember ordering Steak Diane cooked at your table and a sweet trolley coming round with traditional desserts. Whilst I missed those touches, the new staff were incredibly friendly ad nothing was too much trouble. The food was too a very good standard too and lots of vegan options.

We all arrived early around noon and greated by a gentleman serving drinks. I had an excellent local beer others tea, coffer and glass of wine. All excellent

My partner and I returned to the Coach House Restaurant at the Godstone Inn for her birthday having not visited this restaurant for around two years. Upon arrival we immediately noticed some change in the decorations and a completely revised menu including improved options for vegetarians and vegans. When we commented upon this we learned that a new family had bought this family-owned resturant approximately a year ago after it had been closed for a few months, and that they strongly believed in providing a wider menu for their customers.

I have to say when I walked in I wondered what the food was going to be like. It is a work in progress apparently.

Four of us visited the Coach House Restaurant and had a very enjoyable time. The food was very well presented and a pleasure to eat. Although I do not like music in restaurants, this was at a level which really was background music as it should be. The service was both friendly and efficient. I wish the owners every success.

Great food. V good veggie alternative. Super service and very friendly. Really recommend it for a non - chain non gastronpub meal with character.

I met a friend here yesterday evening and am so delighted by the lovely family who welcomed us. When I said I was vegan the eyes lit up and the waiter said that was no problem. I would have settled for a simple pizza but Mat the Chef came to speak to me and explained the marinated banana blossom ‘fish’ and chips which I hesitantly agreed to. It was served with homemade tartare and pea purée and all vegan! Absolutely delicious and highly recommended. I am only sorry I didn’t have space for desert!

Fantastic Pizzas, other food all good. We were staying at the hotel and had nothing but praise for the family.

I had heard rumours that this restaurant had not closed but merely changed hands. On the off chance I, my wife & two friends called in today for lunch. We were not disappointed!! The food was superb, both in quality, quantity and presentation. The service was very efficient and friendly. All the food is freshly cooked so be prepared for a leisurely meal. Prices are very reasonable.

We went to the Coach House (now called the Godstone Inn) for Sunday lunch. We received a warm welcome, attentive service, everything was done with care. My friend had a fantastic ribeye steak with all the trimmings, 6 vegetables, etc, very generous portions. I had fish from the a la carte menu. The food was excellent, the home made desserts were delicious. We will certainly return soon. Highly recommended.

Went for Dinner with friends - left after being subjected to a vegan presentation, before our food or drinks, Made an objection, whereby I was subjected to Vile Vitriol - verbal abuse form the Son in law, who then got physical and the daughter joined in! Tried to leave and the Mother joined in followed by the Father if they can't cope with critic they shouldn't be running a restaurant - DO NOT Give them your business.

A fun evening with friends took a strange turn. Instead of a vegan taster menu, we waited an hour for our food and we're given a lecture and shown a film on how we should become vegan to save the planet. Food was good, but poor and unprofessional service, at times rude to those who didn't accept the didactic tones.

We are glad that The Coach House has re-opened because we had a very tasty lunch there, It seems to be very much a family concern and everyone was very friendly and seemed to be very happy.

Stayed over for 1 night in this lovely village .We had breakfast & 10 of us had Sunday lunch . Breakfast was very tasty served by Matt the chef . Sunday lunch was delicious the quality & the quantity was excellent . The owners were very helpful & welcoming made you feel at home .Jan & Ray Sheehan

We chose the charming Coach House Restaurant as the venue for the reception after our dad’s funeral. Logistically, The Coach House was the perfect choice of venue as it is located just a short picturesque walk from St Nicholas Church, it has plenty of car parking on-site and overnight accommodation for guests who wished to stay the night.

Dropped in on spec for Sunday lunch, the host was most accommodating and managed to fit us in, great home made Sunday lunch with a good selection of vegetables along with the beef. Even managed to find room for some cheese and biscuits,but It was a struggle though, well worth a try.

Wonderful meal at this fantastic restaurant! Lovely staff, so welcoming and very tasty food!! The family who own and run it are so nice and nothing was too much trouble.

We visited The Coach House last Sunday and were treated to a fantastic Sunday roast. The restaurant is lovely and the food top notch! The restaurant is family run and they were so welcoming and friendly and really couldn't hahve done more for us. Our dietry requirements were easily accommodated and we were made to feel part of the family. I would highly recommend it! Thank you!

We recently celebrated my mother’s 80th birthday party at The Coachhouse with a group of 20+ . John and Tracey were incredibly helpful and extremely flexible - able to rise to some very last minute changes/challenges! I can’t thank them enough for the effort and detail they went to that ensured everything went well. All the guests thoroughly enjoyed the food which was plentiful, the ambiance which was delightful and the service which was second to none. We will definitely be coming back!

My twin Sister and I visited the restaurant yesterday with some friends for lunch and can't speak highly enough of the whole experience. We were greeted with a lovely welcome and the food as well as the service was outstanding. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and the food was ABSOLUTELY delicious and ALL homemade with very generous portions. We will DEFINITELY be returning and will recommend it to family and friends.

Came in for burns night and had a lovely dinner. Tracey was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed and more. Lamb chop was perfectly cooked and lovely burns night starter!

We have been customers of The Coach House for over thirty years, it was always our place to visit as a 'bit special'.

We booked the Coach house for my daughters 30th birthday. Unfortunately the whole experience was a disaster. To summarise

Over all the food and service was shocking, everything was severely delayed, waited 45 minutes before getting a hello or offered drinks, we were then kept in the “waiting section” even longer even though we booked a table and arrived on time.

If I could rate this place a zero I would.this was booked as a meal for my 30th birthday for all the family to enjoy. We waited around in the front room for over an hour before we even got seated . Drinks took forever and starters were ordered before we even sat at our table. Starters were bland but the roast dinners were totally un edible. After sending them back, because everything was cold we were given bowls of raw veg that was burnt. The Yorkshire's looked and tasted like they had been eaten and spat back out. The manager then said she tried the veg herself and they tasted ok to her . I can only guess she has some sort of oral disfunction. Anyhow. After all complaining we were given a 10 percent discount ( how kind of them ) and still after expressing our feelings on how awful the meal was , the owner seemed to think that hiding away upstairs, and showing a total lack of professionalism and no sign of concern was the right thing to do, well that to me shows he's probably embarrassed. And so he should be . AVOID THS PLACE . Go for a mcdonalds instead

Booked a table for 1.15pm and wasn’t sat at our table until gone 2 o’clock. Was left sitting in this weird waiting area where we ordered our starters and drinks (after being ignored for around 20 mins) was cold and wasn’t a great atmosphere..just wanted to sit at a table and relax! Apparently this is how they do things, very bizarre.

Just come back from lunch at the Coach House. Table for 9 people, booked for 1pm. We were a party of 8 adults and one child. There was no children’s menu, but they said they would do a half portion instead. I booked by email and was sent the Christmas Festive menu. When we got to the restaurant, we were given the Sunday roast menu, and when we asked, we were told the Festive menu was not available on Sundays. There was no fish on the Sunday menu, but the chef offered to cook salmon. We sat in the lounge area and had a drink. No one came to show us to our table, so we went to the restaurant area ourselves. It then took ages for someone to take our drinks order, and for the drinks to arrive. We had to ask someone to take our food order. We all had a main course. That took a long time to arrive. The roast beef was very dry, but the rest of the meals were fine. We had to again ask for someone to take our order for desserts. One person ordered dessert, two ordered dessert and coffee, and three others ordered just coffee. The coffees eventually arrived. After We had finished them, we had to chase again for the desserts. Apparently the order had been misplaced. We complained. Then we asked twice for the bill. The desserts were removed from the bill. However, we were charged full price for the child half portion. When we complained about that, the server went to give a refund, but had no change in the till. By then we had been there for three hours 25 minutes, and had run out of patience, so we just said forget it, and left. We will not be returning. A real shame, as this was a pre-Christmas family meal, which ended up being a complete disaster. There were plenty of staff, and only 4 tables the whole time we were there. It just seemed the staff were inexperienced and had no proper direction or guidance.

Went last night for first time under new ownership, the service was slow the food was not hot plates cold cutlery dirty ,when we complained we where asked to leave, will not be going back ,used to be so good

I just live up the road from the restaurant and since it’s reopened I’ve been back twice, once on a weekday and once on Sunday just gone to celebrate a family birthday.

Excellent stay. Very friendly and approachable new owners. Have to say the food was superb especially the cooked breakfast. We had stayed here before and the previous owners only offered continental breakfast. The rooms offer very good value. The on site restaurant has a good selection of dishes to choose from and the service is excellent.

The Godstone Hotel (Coach House) restaurant reopened its doors last night. We had been visiting the restaurant for special occasions since we married 39 years ago and were disappointed when it closed, so to some extent we wanted to see if the food was as good as it had been all those years ago. John and Tracey (the new owners) have modernised the restaurant slightly but it has still retained it’s charm and is warm and welcoming. The hosts were very attentive - nothing was too much trouble - and the meal we had was delicious. We will definitely be returning. Well done.

Sadly this restaurant ceased trading in spring 2018. The hotel/accomodation side also closed. The younger generation of the family run business sold it, no doubt it will become flats!

Food always good. Very accommodating.. we arrived at 2.55pm and they lose food at 3.. (obviously we didnt realise that) thougjt it was a bit later.. but they were happy to do 2 hot lunches for me and my aunt. Food was vey good. And the location is beautiful.

We have visited this most excellent restaurant many times and have always been well looked after - really nice friendly staff - excellent food - very good value - wonderful atmosphere..........Sadly closing, such a loss to Godstone??????????

During a meal with friends we complained that one of the two steaks ordered was tough. The owner tried the steak for himself, in front of us at the table, announcing it was fine. Essentially accusing us of exaggerating!! Unbelievable behaviour and aggressively argumentative, totally unnecessary. Spoilt the evening and will never revisit.

My wife and I were invited to join her aunt at her 90th Birthday dinner at this restaurant. There were about about 23 guests in all.

We have been irregular visitors to the Coach House for 25 years, but chose to have a nostalgic Valentine's Day lunch. The food, service and ambience was as good as the first time we visited all those years ago. Bravo the Coach House.

After landing at Gatwick and hiring a car, my wife and I were looking for somewhere to have a nice Sunday lunch. The coach house at Godstone delivered as we had a lovely Sunday lunch with good service and made our journey onwards feeling very fulfilled.

For the second year running, we went for dinner on Christmas Eve and it was as excellent as ever. Great welcome, great menu, great atmosphere in an intimate and 'screaming child'-free environment.

We met up with family here and were not disapointed.

We had a wonderful meal here arranged by friends who had just got married.

16 of us (all mature "adults"!) sat down to eat, having already chosen our food from the Christmas Fayre menu.

Staff superb and very accommodating and the food was top notch. Sausage and mash with plenty sauce and onions delight.

We've been visiting the Coach House on special occasions for several years and have never been disappointed. The food and service are always of the highest order, with a friendly welcome in peaceful (genuine) old-world surroundings. Unlike many restaurants, there's always enough on your plate to satisfy a healthy appetite, and if that's not enough, fill up on one of the spectacular desserts. The fixed-price menu is excellent, but consider spending just a little more (and really it is only a little) to sample the delights of 'a la carte'.

Just spent another delightful family Sunday lunch at the coach house, as always the welcome, service and food were top class and really enjoyed by all, can't wait to go again.

We had a family get together in our favourite local spot! We have had large celebrations, small celebrations and just out for a good meal at The Coach House. We have never been let down! Terrific value for money, I even queried the bill as it seemed too cheap! The set menu is good value, between us we had chicken, liver and pork after a variety of starters. Lime and basil ice cream much enjoyed! Desserts delicious. Couldn't fault welcome, service or pre meal drinks. Thank you to all staff.

Went for Sunday Lunch yesterday with friends. The food was excellent, as was the service. I had pork, which was beautifully cooked, plenty of vegetables, followed by profiteroles which were to die for. There were seven of us, and not one single complaint between us. The restaurant was packed, says it all really. I am looking forward to having my 70th birthday lunch at The Coach-House, with family and friends in a few weeks time.

We went on a Friday evening and had the two course set menu. There was a good choice of dishes but only one for vegetarians. The welcome and pre dinner drink was a lovely relaxing experience before being seated in the main restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was perfectly cooked. I would rather come back here than to other restaurants (posh or not!) in the Reigate to Godstone area. A good place to have a special occasion or treat yourself to a nice meal.

Quality food and service but little choice if you are vegetarian. Certainly on the Sunday we visited. Excellent roast beef but very bland one choice vegetarian option. Clearly very popular for the majority. Should be more flexibility on the fixed price so that a starter may be substituted for a dessert.

Thank you Corinne and staff for a really lovely anniversary lunch last Sunday, the food was delicious, the service and attention we received was just right, and it w as great value, Lovely to have our coffee served in lounge, really enjoyed by all our family, can't wait for our next visit.

we have had several meals at this restaurant including easter sunday lunch which have been really lovely with very good service however todays lunch was poor : service was lacking food was over cooked and slow not sure if we will return shame!!

A traditional restaurant. Polite, friendly attentive staff. Food was superb. My French onoin soup & my wifes prawn & salmon starters were terrific. The main courses - sea bream for me & steak & kidney pudding for my wife - were cooked to perfection. The steak & kidney pudding was huge & beat my wife. The cassata dessert I had was to die for & from the look on my wifes face the creme brulee was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

Nina and I have lunched here before with friends, so it was an obvious midway between us choice to meet other friends.We like old fashioned - whether its service, ambience, or whatever. The Coach House at the Godstone Hotel has it in spades. A nice lounge to have an aperitif in as you look at the menus, proper linen, table settings, and service, great value food (at lunchtime when we went two courses for £15-95 each), and lovely old beams and graceful feel to the dining room.All four of us enjoyed our meal immensely, service was excellent, and from the number of similarly aged diners there, on a Tuesday lunchtime, very popular which is always a good sign.

Hadn't been here for a long while and wondered why on earth we'd left it so long. If you're looking for competitively-priced traditional, English food with a continental twist then this is it! We came for Sunday lunch and were impressed by both the quality of food and service. My wife had the lamb whilst I opted for roast beef with "all the trimmings". I was delighted to find that having requested it rare, not only was it served rare but the meat was very succulent and tender too. This was followed by desserts from the trolley which may sound a bit old fashioned but at least you get to view the fabulous array from which to make your choice. The restaurant is usually supervised by a French proprietor who clearly runs a tight ship with largely permanent continental staff who are highly professional and clearly enjoy working here. With so many alternatives in the area it's easy to take one's eye off the ball but this place is a real gem offering excellent value. Definitely worth returning to.
