Walked into our local this evening, saw mussels on the specials board (my all time fav) had to order them! The mussels arrive, extremely generous portion for the money - with homemade fries. Mussels were divine and the sauce…well, we have been to many places and I can safely say the sauce was the best sauce I’ve ever had with any mussels I have ever had! 10 out of 10 from me - absolutely amazing! And from a chef that is so passionate about his food too! Love, love, love!!! George - you are an amazing chef!!

What a fabulous little local pub! We sat outside in the sunshine with a drink and ordered a delicious lunch, ploughman’s and the beef burger with extra cheese! The food was outstanding. We loved every minute, what a great was to spend a Friday afternoon!

We really enjoyed our meal and were made so welcome for a nostalgic visit to Dormansland. Thank you.

What an amazing Sunday afternoon spent celebrating Mother’s Day with my daughters. The food was amazing , fresh ingredients, I had beef roast, it was perfectly done and my children had a chicken roast which was amazing too. Cozy and a homely feel! Micheal and Julia and the team were so friendly and made the entire afternoon as special as it was meant to be. Will definitely be back!

We had quite rightly booked ahead and pre ordered some food. After our 6 mile circular walk on a rare mild morning in the Spring ready to murder pints of Shepherd Neame Master Brew. We don't oftern get Master Brew or Spitfire offered but most took pints of this freshly drawn cool, bright ale 4.1% at £4.95 a pint. Spitfire at 4.5% and £5.10 a pint were well received by all. There were no other Real Ales on offer but a bottle of the 1698 Strong Ale was tasted 6.5% and only £4.95 so felt excellent value for a decent strong ale. All said they had enjoyed the various food offerings from Baguettes to Fish & Chips. A lovely old village pub under new management. Well worth your support. The bar "half barrels" frontage can be seen in a 1920's photo - so little has changed. Outside has a really lovely seating area facing south which makes a big bonus beer garden. Sadly not today as it was chilly but in good weather this area would seem a must! Thanks to the Staff who looked after us folk and for being most patient in our ordering!!

Someone mentioned this pub on Facebook , we had never been strangely, so we thought we would check it out. It’s under new management, the people running seem very nice, the food was very tasty, a nice choice on the menu, nice and cosy, dog friendly. What more can you ask for? We will be back.

My husband and I visited for lunch on a Monday. I had the chicken breast which gave you the option of chips salad or vegetables. The chicken was moist and had lots of flavour I had salad with it which had lovely dressing. My husband had the double cheeseburger which was absolutely gorgeous with home made burgers. The pub was busy with most of the tables full. This traditional pub has various events on in the evenings and we will definitely come back.

Lovely old pub with a friendly welcome and great food. Stumbled on it while looking for somewhere to have lunch during a family day out, and we were not disappointed.

Just been and ate at their BBQ. FANTASTIC. Would definitely recommend the chicken shish. Yummy.

A very warm welcome from the assistant manager, Kelly, who showed me to my boutique room. Gorgeous and cute followed by a steak dinner as it was "Steak Thursday" finished by the chocolate dessert (don't mind if I do) thank you. A lovely wholesome experience and will be back if I am ever this way 💕

Came across this pub after not getting a table at a few other ones. We love a local and it suited us fine. Ordered drinks at the bar and sat in garden. Lovely chats with local people. We ordered 2 Roast Beef Dinners. How disappointed we were. The beef was soooooo tough we could not eat it. Not helped by the fact it was sliced so thick. Also Roast beef but no English Mustard! Must say that the stuffing was excellent. We did tell the waitress that the Beef was awful, but she was young and didn't want to make an issue of it as not her fault. Lovely local pub, but would not recommend the roast beef

We recently had supper at the Old House to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent and the service prompt and friendly. Overall a most pleasing meal.

My wife and I were delighted to hear there was new management and a refurb, at last a local pub 10 min away where we could meet friends and enjoy a decent meal. So we did a trial run before 10 of us set out to book a meal. On arrival, lovely ambience, friendly staff, ordered food, all going good. Then my seared fish arrived, obviously microwaved, soggy and no crispy skin. My wife ordered the feta, spinach and mushroom pie, arrived no pastry. She asked the waitress what happened to the pastry and was told , we've run out, would you like some bread. It looked like a bowl of dog puke, she was not able to eat it. So no apology offered and still had to pay full price for dog puke. So no will not be going again. Why didn't they offer her something else? Such a shame, we had such high hopes. Won't be returning or recommending 😪😪

A really lovely and traditional pub located in a quiet part of Dormansland. Food and service was excellent and the owners were very friendly. It felt really community centred which I really like. I'll look forward to returning.

Took young daughter for dinner and had the best food. It was the start of their autumn menu and wasn't disappointed. Litlun had ham egg and chips and I was the 1st to try the free ranger which was an individual chicken and leek pie along with skinny fries and long stem broccoli. It was one of the tastiest meals I've ever had! The gravy was also a hit. The owner Sam really looked after us 😊

Under new management, lovely looking traditional pub, with a well balanced menu. Not to intense, but good quality products. Real Ale, Quiz nights and live music monthly. One to watch

We love The Old House, was here for a family birthday on Friday and it was absolutely rammed! Nearly every table of 6 ate, mains and puddings!! It was crazy busy, which bought a great atmosphere also! Above all, the food did not suffer due to numbers. Everything was on time, everything was as usual, delicious and absolutely piping hot!! One of the nicest places to eat these days, if anything standard gets better! They’ve clearly missed us all 😂 HIGHLY recommend!

I had a fantastic afternoon and evening at the Old House At Home Pub in Harborne today. During these difficult times I have been impressed by the excellent customer service of provided by the entire team who are a credit to this fine establishment. Inparticular one of the Pub Team Kieran has been extremely professional and helpful with his customer service. Kieran always goes the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble for him. He has clearly and concisely explained to me all the changes that have taken place and always keeps me updated with any changes when they happen. I would like to express my sincerest thanks to Kieran for his compassionate and helpful nature and he is a real asset for the Old House At Home in Harborne. Thanks Kieran and cheers!

Love this pub, so cosy, friendly staff although the landlord was very rude to one of my daughters. Food is good but had a disappointing Sunday roast , food was cold and the portion size of the pork was 2 slices.

Sunday Roast at The Old House at Home is just the best ever. We had Roast beef as usual and it was so good , beef medium rare, just the way we like it, plenty of seasonal veg, crunchy roast potatoes and cauliflower Cheese and of course Yorkshire pud,portions are always very generous.thank you Sam and Andy.

Our first visit since pub re opened following lock downexcellent safety precautions, temperatures taken, details logged for contact. masks worn and staff ensure safety at all times. This was reassuring as two of our party were isolating during lock down for health reasons, and were really looking forward to lunch, not disappointed.Sam, Andy and staff welcoming and ensured rules followed at all times, Menu and food excellent as always.Highly recommend

Brilliant plans in place for COVID-19. First night opened, great food and excellent plans in place for social distancing. Didn’t once feel I shouldn’t be out. Great to feel slightly normal again. One in one out of the toilet together with an in and out of the pub. 👍🏼

Our local! Could not wait for this place to reopen. Table booked, turned up to have a list of rules (fantastic!!), temperature taken and contact details left for track and trace. Knowing the landlords the way we do, we wanted to come back ASAP to support the local business but above all we love this place. Could not feel safer. Had a lovely lunch under the new chef - just fantastic! What an amazing ploughman’s, mac n cheese, burger and steak sandwich between us!! If you want to go to a pub but are unsure or feel uncertain at the moment, you have absolutely no need to worry here at all!! Think we might be back tomorrow - 5 stars isn’t enough!!!! Unfortunately despite the glowing reviews for this little pub, mine isn't that great. I was not looking for a main course, literally just a light bite and some much needed coffee after quite a drive around prior, but it turns out I couldn't do either. Upon walking in and saying I just wanted drinks and possibly a light snack, we were told there were no tables available until 2:30pm (it's about 1pm at this point) but we could not even so much as order a single thing at all. We were also told we could not have coffee as the machine is located in the kitchen and the staff "can't go in there while the chefs are doing lunch". So the staff literally are not allowed in the kitchen at all whilst the chefs are cooking!? What a ridiculous notion. I totally get the lack of tables for lunch, the food both looked and smelled amazing and the reviews make sure of that, plus there were only a handful of tables to dine on anyway, but the kitchen thing was so bizarre it was funny. I work in hospitality also, I know what it's like to have no free tables and a walk in comes in looking for something, anything, but there were two tables seated, nobody else in the pub and the front of house staff made it seem we were a huge inconvenience and how dare we just show up without a reservation! If I am ever in the area again, oh my goodness, I'll make a booking so the front of house staff can enter the kitchen and act like they actually want us there.

Was very warmly welcomed. Menu is limited however, everything had was REALLY good & it’s better to do it well rather than have too much choice & it be mediocre, good portion sizes, went home stuffed. Nice to see dogs warmly greeted as well. Off the beaten track which is good for keeping it a secret cos I wouldn’t want it spoilt. Thanks for a lovely meal, will definitely be coming back.

I had dinner here one Saturday with my Mom (86 yo). We were very warmly welcomed and had a lovely time. The food was good but nothing special. What made this a special place were the very well behaved, beautiful dogs. There were about 8 in different shapes and sizes. All beautiful.

Classic, hidden, country pub. Worth finding.

Its great here but the one let down is because it's run by a certain brewery the choice of more branded lagers and beers such as guiness are not available

Needing a lunch-time meeting place in an unfamiliar area, we picked this one on Trip Advisor and found the reviews weren't wrong. A proper drinking pub with a caring chef and decent food, a car park opposite - and dogs most welcome. It's unpretentious pub food, properly cooked and very reasonably priced with attentive service in a homely establishment that clearly likes a personal touch with the locals as well as visitors. 'The Old House at Home' in this listed building is well-named. Off the beaten track but worth looking for.

What a real gem of a pub, and if you have a dog, well you won't be disappointed, nor will your dog. Of most importance the pub attracts the friendliest of customers, and because of this fact, it has a very nice ambiance. The beer is top quality, as is the food, it really is a what's not to like venue, there is even enough parking. I have now adopted this pub as my local, or has it adopted me?

My wife and I have lived in Dormansland for over ten years and never once thought about eating in our local pub, well today we did just and don’t why we have never come before, the food was excellent, and very good value for money, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We went with our dog and they were very accommodating with a drinks bowl inside the bar. We will definitely be visiting again, with our son next time.

Family dinner, food was well presented good sized portions. Desert equally so. Prices are reasonable. Nice sunny area outside should the weather permit, and dogs are welcome. Not our first visit, and won’t be our last

We hadn't booked and took a chance, they were able to fit us in at 8.30, while there several people spoke to us and all in all found it to be a pub with great atmosphere, the food was good and with a folk group playing in the corner made our night. Highly recommend

We booked this pub at late notice based on TA reviews when we needed to get a meal whilst in the area yesterday. Perfect choice. Friendly and welcoming with efficient service and our Sunday lunches arrived quickly- one roast beef and one roast chicken. Plenty of meat, crispy roast potatoes that were suitably soft on the inside, Yorkshire pud, parsnips and 3 other seasonal veg in a side dish. There was also plenty of gravy which is often our gripe about pub roasts, ie that there's not enough. Add to all this a really attractive way of presenting the food on the plate and it was a real winner - see pics. Sadly too full to try the desserts which did sound nice too!
