Great to be able book a table, relaxed atmosphere with friendly efficient staff, tasty good quality sour dough/avocado/eggs/salmon followed by freshly made smoothie and a delicious cruffin! Would recommend.
Came out of my way with my family to the oxford sainsbury’s cafe to get a good meal we saw on the sainsbury’s cafe menu online to turn up and see completely different! hardly selling anything just “soup” and microwaved bread basically. let alone not much food for children or vegetarians. don’t come here.
The combination of a lovely day , delicious toasties and their excellent smoothies , farm setting and the local artisan cheese was great and much appreciated as a tasty yet informal light lunch with our friends . They do have an undercover area .
Been here several times and on every occasion we say ‘never again’ but we do go back in the hope that it has changed. Chap at the counter is incredibly rude ( I’m sure he doesn’t but I always feel that he would be happy to spit in the chips). Food is expensive for what it is and god forbid that you are a few pennies short (and I mean pennies) of the cost because he will make you go to the cash point in Co-op. Of course they don’t take cards as 1: that would cost him money and 2: he would have to declare it? Half of the items don’t go through the till, he just gives you a figure. The food tastes like it is cooked in really old oil and really isn’t nice. So we will now stand by our decision and NEVER go back.
Looking forwards to warming up with lunch after a Larma walk with the wife. The place was fairly busy and the staff had put reserved signs on a huge table hours before it was due to be used. We noticed an empty table and approached the counter to place an order, when the staff asked were are we sitting. We saw that the table we had spotted had been pinched by someone else and the other 3 tables hadn't been cleared, with none of the staff looking to eager to clear them. At this point my wife and I decided to go else where. It was a real let down on the day and actually spoilt it. Maybe the manager needs to do some training with the staff. I'm assuming that the cafe makes so much money that they don't need good feedback. Our advise to others. Save your pennies and go else where unless you're happy with dirty tables, uninterested staff and over priced menu.
I have known this cosy little pub for about 40 years and over that time it has not changed one little bit, right down to the outdoor gents' toilets. It's a traditional old Brakspear's pub and very much a village local although it is located a little outside the main Frieth village (from Lane End, turn right at the crossroads just before entering the main village). Breakspear's pub company split from its brewery several years ago and sadly, and short-sightedly, the brewery's current owners, Carlsberg-Marston's have decided to close the Oxfordshire brewery and although they will no doubt continue to produce a Brakspear branded product elsewhere, it is unlikely to remain the beer we've known and loved for many years. Back to the pub, it is, first and foremost, a wet led pub, food being very much secondary here. So please don't come with any big food expectations and you won't be disappointed. Simple food is served lunchtimes only with the menu on a blackboard, so it may change a bit, but at the time of our visit the food offering was Fish & chips, Scampi & chips plus a small range of sandwiches. Our food was all perfectly prepared with friendly and efficient service. The main thing about this pub is to come and enjoy the timeless atmosphere with friendly locals dropping in with their dogs, sitting around and chatting around the open fire, an experience which is fast disappearing from today's pub scene.
Fun friendly atmosphere with all ages enjoying their night out
The vast Variety of drinks on offer is amazing there’s definitely something for everyone’s taste
Dog friendly kid friendly sports friendly food available from Table Fresh which isn’t just burgers ! Sunday roast was delicious and value for money
What a hidden gem and to think every pound spent and morsel consumed helps to support charitable services for the local community
Excellent quality, clean, very good service, very reasonable cost.
All home produced and fresh on the day. Full English, panini, soup, jacket potatoes and a chose of 2-3 hot lunches (home cooked) and a luscious cake of the day. It was so difficult to choose.
SO GO ON .. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL (not for profit) COMMUNITY CENTRE
Cooked fresh, the cod was beautifully falling off separating into pieces. The the batter was not oily and lovely. The chips were fresh. The mushy peas were excellent. My family were so happy we congratulated the chef. Truly excellent.
Absolutely appalling ! Waited 10 mins to be told by a member of the cafe team that she isn't serving (rudely) young man was left on his own entirely to deal with the ever growing cue. Ordered food , waited 20 minutes for the rude member of staff to come
Out and deliver it to 3 wrong tables before realising it was ours and after 3 other people had handled the plates . Disgusting attitude of the female working there . Partner asked for some ketchup , got grunted at .
Will not be eating here again , I am a regular shoppper in store and absolutely disgusted by todays visit to the cafe .

Quite disappointed the last time I bought sushi’s. The rice wasn’t well cooked and the fish was almost frozen. It was much more better a year ago. I don’t think I will buy again at this branch.
