The best restaurants in South Oxfordshire South East

Quite disappointed the last time I bought sushi’s. The rice wasn’t well cooked and the fish was almost frozen. It was much more better a year ago. I don’t think I will buy again at this branch.

If you're after cosy vibes, exceptional dishes, and warm hospitality — The Black Horse in Thame (just outside Oxford) needs to be on your foodie radar! 📍🍷 We were seriously impressed by the elevated gastropub experience — beautifully presented food, flavours that hit just right, and service that made us feel right at home. Here’s what we enjoyed (and highly recommend):
🧀 Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé – light, airy, and full of rich cheesy goodness
🌱 Pea, Broad Bean & Feta Croquettes – crispy, fresh and packed with flavour
🦆 Duck Breast – served with citrus glaze, candied orange & creamy dauphinoise
🥩 8oz Rump Steak – paired with a dreamy Béarnaise sauce
🍨 Rhubarb Crumble – Wye Valley rhubarb + rhubarb & elderflower ice cream = perfection From the hearty mains to the refreshing seasonal dessert, this meal was a standout! 🙌

I could wax lyrical all day long about our experience this past weekend. What a find! Travelling in for a family wedding, my husband and I were meeting up with his brother and wife. A beautiful day and busy, we were greeted like long standing friends by Alex. We chose to eat ahead of celebrations and so glad we did, the food was beautiful. Cooked to perfection. We're quite a social crew and Alex played to his audience perfectly. What a great start to our Jolly. Our suite (willow) was perfect for our needs and very comfortable. Rising early we initially was met with the most wonderful view of the Thames. Poppy was clearly tasked with opening up an immaculately clean establishment. She was an absolute delight, so much so I fear we slowed her down as we all wanted to chat with this lovely ray of sunshine. I had the full English and it was FAB! Clearly locally sourced bacon, sausage and free range eggs. Worth every penny. Now we just need to find an excuse to return.

An excellent old school chippy. Ordered 2 small Cod, a small chips and THE BEST curry sauce. Food was fresh out the fryer. Service was very friendly!

Been once before so second time for us, brought daughter this time and she said best Thai ever and she’s well travelled… !! Wonderful food and lady so helpful and friendly. Absolutely perfect. Going to make it a regular trip I think … Amazing 🤩

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at Oak restaurant, at Crazy Bear - Stadhampton. Fantastic service and food. It was clear that Callum, the chef, took enormous pride in his creations. Highly recommended.

I made a booking in Jan 2025 for a stay in May 2025. I received an e-mail cancelling my booking in late Apr 2025. I have tried to contact the Perch & Pike, but they won't respond. It would appear that you cannot rely on the Perch & Pike honoring their bookings. They seem to be happy cancelling your booking at short notice.

Nice food and fairly priced, staff were friendly and helpful. Atmosphere 4 stars only cause was Sunday evening and bit quiet! Would eat here again think ate at another in Bournemouth called ludo lounge which was good as well.

The only thing I could recommend in this place is the choice of music. They serve canteen food that looks pathetic and tastes like it’s been cooked and laid around for a while (burger patty not fresh). Atrocious customer service, male manager intentionally showing us his attitude, he made a scene out of 4 pieces of tortillas, quite unnecessary really, understood you guys were enjoying a lazy evening until we turned up to an empty pub, but you were open so it’s not our fault.

Gorgeous place, fantastic beer (Brakespears), nice waitress, somewhat odd landlord. Food OK to good apart from the fish’n’chips which I think is the worst I’ve had - very mean portion of fish and vile batter which was spongy!

Great food and friendly staff. The seating and view opposite by the river is relaxing and stunning. I have been here several times and the food and staff are always consistent.
