Berro Lounge in South Oxfordshire

Went with my wife and son, weren't really sure what to expect, as we'd never been there before. We were greeted with a friendly smile and asked to choose a table. We ordered through the QR code at the table, but the staff was very helpful with any questions we had. I had the Cowboy burger, my wife had a panini and my son had the Lounge burger. All the food was super well presented and delicious. Apologise for the lack of pictures.

Tiny portions, meh food. Like a posh, worse, wetherspoons

Went for lunch. Greeted and seated. Scoured the menu, found what we wanted, watched many staff not doing very much, waited 10 mins. Were ignored so we went to Nando’s opposite. Shame as the food looked really nice.

I went there at night for food and drinks , really good atmosphere and good food and drinks and good service , definitely would recommend that place !

Waste of space! Useless ordering system and a total inability to adapt by the staff. Maybe have more than one till open when things are busy, or table service or perhaps an app that works!! Overpriced mediocre fair!! Worst cafe in Didcot! Also, people shouldn’t be surprised if you find dogs in a dog- friendly cafe!!

Our first time of visiting. We were met by Hannah who was really friendly and welcoming. Once we had sat down, Hannah brought our dog Monty a bowl of water and a treat. Hannah now has a friend for life in Monty! Once we had ordered our food, it arrived quickly despite it being busy. My husband and I both ordered the Shakshuka which was amazing! Excellent service, excellent food. Thank you Hannah, it is so lovely to visit an eatery that is so welcoming to us all including Monty. We are definitely coming back the next time that we visit Didcot.

Nice to sit down and have a drink and a catch up with a friend. Had a burger which was supposed to be chimichurri based, could not really taste the chimichurri but was good apart from that. Staff were all helpful but one of them clearing tables and tucking chairs in after people had left was throwing the chairs under the tables and banging around quite a bit when clearing tables. Apart from that nice evening had.

Went for drinks, they really wanted us to eat

Berro kindly hosted Family get together last night for my Sons 21st Birthday. They took my late notice request for booking of x13 people, allowed me to come prior to booking to decorate tables, and held Birthday Cake for serving later in evening. Tasty food served promptly ( pre ordered ) at agreed time by friendly Staff. Thanks Berro for lovely evening ! Review update ! Huge thanks to Staff for reuniting us with Graduation Photos left at Berro in error in August. Staff found them and went to great lengths to get them back to us - instead of just binning them. So thoughtful ! Thanks again x

Good place, relatively cheap drinks and decent food. Good veggie options. Only rating 4 stars because I'm a hipster and prefer independent businesses over chains. But it's a reliable, dependable experience every time.

Tasty food, although sadly, last time we visited, all of our food was barely warm

The Berro Lounge, like most of the chain (Artist Lounge) I have visited, is a great place to meet up for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks, or even just coffee and cake. The website they use for ordering is very good and works smoothly, provided you have a good internet connection, fortunately they provide free WiFi at Berro, so it's not an issue. The service is quick and the food is good. I like their breakfasts, which are available all day! I very much recommend visiting here

In a world with zero options this is OK

An informal eatery with a decent selection of food. The order has to be placed at the till and they ask you if you have any food allergies. The cutlery and a napkin is brought to you at the table. The avacado item and the fresh orange juice for Brunch was fine. I found the music quite loud and nearly walked out. The service and the price seemed reasonable. The cost was around £14.

Great range of food, easy online ordering, very tasty, child friendly, all intolerance/dietary requirements have plenty of options, and great drinks. Not a bad thing to say about Berro, we keep on going back.

Long waiting times can happen sometimes on restaurants, it’s something normal. Waiters avoiding customers is something that I personally cannot accept. It’s something that comes with the profession, be aware on what’s going on on the room and decide if it’s more importan clean a table or just attend a customer raising his hand, just to know how long the waiting time is just to order. That’s specially critical if you’re waiting with kids. It’s not just to be polite but manage correctly customer’s expectations. Answer a question is a fast solution to manage properly expectations. Being a waiter is not just put food on the table, that’s just a small part.

Tables was sticky and it was freezing cold inside food was ok but not the best uncomfortable seats not really worth the money

Had an extremely unwelcoming visit at the berro lounge this afternoon, the service was awful. We were sat waiting for about 20 minutes while the waitresses were stood talking to each other paying no regard to us, after enough waiting we decided to ask if we can order to which the lady responded with an extremely snarky attitude that we are meant to order at the bar as if we were meant to know that (we were just told to sit down). The food came relatively quickly but it was cold and extremely bang average, as if it had just come out of the microwave. All in all, beautiful place, music was too loud and you should train your employees better.

It's in The Lounge chain and so if you've visited one before there are no surprises here. The food was quite slow despite it not being very busy at lunch time and our meals came at different times (with about 10-15 mins between) My friend waited for my food to arrive but there's was then cold. A good few vegetarian options but I do think it is a little expensive for what you get. I appreciated the restaurant's size, the atmosphere was nice and we had plenty of space so didn't feel crowded. Heating was gone but staff were apologetic, drinks were ok but wouldn't come here for the hot drinks, more for the atmosphere. There wasn't much information on allergies, but my allergy is specific so I don't hold this against them!

Cold panini, frozen salad (somehow) and mediocre flavour. Very disappointing.

Have been here twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. The service was great and the ambience was lovely. Good interior design, comfortable and stress-free, ordering was easy and food arrived fast. However, at a restaurant the food is most important, and our dinner experience was a big let down. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken and the brisket burger, and both were under flavoured, under seasoned, and very dry. The chicken in particular was not up to standard and certainly not worth the money we paid. On the other hand, I enjoyed my English breakfast, and would consider returning for that.

Great food and cooked well. Staff friendly on arrival and did not take long to take order. Service for the desserts was slow. Had to wait up to 40minutes and go back to bar to check order. Lots of choice of meals for family.

After visiting this place and enjoying a beer, I was impressed by this stunning restaurant decor and the friendly staff. There's also a nearby mall to explore.

I quite like this place, but, it used to have an Order from Table App that obviated the need to stand in line at the food order till. The App no longer appears operable, so I'm put off going back.

Always enjoy a meal here. Popular place The burgers are good, and I also recommend the 3-tapas serves as a lunch option. I quite like their own brand cola too

Good food and service was fairly quick.

Breakfast served cold. Poached eggs were hard. As we are very close, keep giving them a chance but have never been impressed.

Hello, I'm sorry to report that your staff was sitting on the floor and smoking. This is not a hygienic practice. At least they should clean themselves before serving the food.

What a lovely place. Service was impeccable from our lovely barman ‘Sam’. Fabulous gluten free options and food came quickly. Overall wonderful experience!

Consistent,great food and service

I foolishly chose a rice byriani dish which was not to my taste. The rice tasted awful, the "bombay" potatoes were cubed chips and the salsa was acidic. The garlic bread, cardboardy. Serious improvement needed. Can't talk about other dishes......

The service and food is of a high standard. With a good choice of gluten free. There is a good outside eating area which is perfect for enjoying a cool beer and watching the world go by. My only criticism is the lack of beer choice. Surely at least one classic ale/bitter is not too much to ask for.

A great place for brunch or lunch. Right in the thick of the action in Didcot centre. Staff are great and food is well priced and well presented.

Quirky decor inside and plenty of outdoor space. The terrace overlooks a very unloved building but is convenient if you are meeting someone.

Dined in Berro Lounge this evening, service generally poor, staff seemed disinterested in helping anyone. Food was mediocre and waited a long time for a main, also ordered the lounge sundae dessert, received melted mush 30 minutes later that had obviously been sat out for them 30 minutes, tried to get attention of staff but as above, no one was interested in helping. Wouldn’t recommend.

Only stopped for an evening drink this time round. A little short staffed at the ordering counter meant a slightly longer than usual wait to order. Otherwise as good as always, a safe menu with lots of choice, a few beers and a good range of soft drinks to choose from.

Lovely food. Would recommend the tapas. So tasty. Their puddings were also amazing.

Group booking organised by my friend Friday 4th August. 8pm. Arrived lovely welcome asked about allergies. Shown to table. We sat chatting 10 mins then realised we had to order drinks at the bar. But no one had told us this, anyway better as we pay as we go so no need to sort bill . I ordered a pink lemonade and a raspberry crush cocktail. I was told he would bring the latter to my table 6 or 7 mins at least went by no drink . Young lad bought a cocktail over didn't announce what it was. My friend took it but turns out it wasn't hers but another member in our group. So we waited again. Finally a YELLOW drink arrived. When are raspberries yellow? I queried it with a waiter. He just shrugged and said don't know I didn't bring it to the table??? Another lad came and asked if ok. No, we said, wrong cocktail. It was then sorted. Food arrived I had the same as another in the group but hers was GF so I asked waiter. He didn't know. I couldn't cut my chicken as stringy and tough so was my friends. I had to use my fingers and bite the chicken. What with everything else I decided if we complained how long would we wait. So we struggled eating it. Again no one said we had to order desert's at the bar so we didn't bother, by the way our food was pre ordered on booking with deposits. We asked for the bill and it wasn't correct. Our £5 deposit hadn't been taken off. Then we were asked to pay as our name was called. Felt like roll call at school. I was then overcharged and had to say to the lad. What a mess...it took 20 mins to sort the bill. I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Only tip I would leave would be nothing to do with money! Most people have enjoyed the Berro, it was my first visit. I would like to say I would return. But if bad experience again I would swerve it in the future. My end of the table had bad service but rest of group was ok. I would want a refund, and should really of said Friday. Sharon

Good atmosphere. Drinks & food pricey. Staff are generally good but there's a few who are just quite rude.

Amazing service. Just finished a lovely meal with my partner quick service recommend their cocktails and the burgers are mine and my partners favourite awesome food. Definitely recommend coming here for any occasion chilled atmosphere and friendly staff.

Nice place... but not as good as other 'Lounges' I've been to. Came here a few weeks ago for a light lunch with my daughter. Ordered the Grilled Chicken Souvlaki which when it came looked lovely - but was inedible especially with the butter knife tools we had been given. The flatbread was hard and inflexible - stale perhaps? Certainly not soft and foldable so we picked at the toppings and then called it a day. Onion rings ordered as extra were lovely though. The QR code facility for ordering at the table was faulty and did not work, so I ordered at the bar.

My friend and I were met at the door by a member of the team who begrudged us requesting a table for two. "We only have tables for four at the moment. You can double check upstairs if you want." I responded that we could take a table to seat four, given that there are a few of them immediately available within sight. There was only one family behind us in the queue and even after seating them, there was another spare table available and other groups were also finishing their meals. She said that she'd check upstairs again on our behalf (isn't seating guests part of the role?), returning to us after several minutes and grumpily saying she'd wipe the table over but if "a group of four come in, you'll have to fight for the table between yourselves." We were taken aback by being spoken to like this - I think she just wanted us to leave. She stormed away, didn't clean the table. Luckily another team member came over and sorted out the situation and couldn't do more for us. I would have thought plenty of pairs come in and it shouldn't be an issue - in this situation we were made to feel like an inconvenience and that we should be honoured to give you our money. Never again!

Unfortunately not the best food I've had. The atmosphere and service were great but it felt like the menu was trying to do everything (from curry's to Pad Thai's to pub classics to tapas) and, the dishes we had, weren't very good.

Called here for evening meal. Chose here as it was quite busy so it must be popular. It was well furnished and clean. The staff all seemed nice and friendly. The food we had was very nice and we would eat here again.

Came to visit our friends and chose Berro Lounge to eat at. We chose to sit upstairs as downstairs was quite busy. From the Tapas section on the menu, we picked out multiple dishes of the food we would each like to try.😀 We shared some garlic breads to accompany our meal😋 I was well impressed with the quality of their food👍👏👏 well done to the chef. Tapas was new to us. My partner and I really enjoyed it, our friends usually come to here, so they knew it was a very nice place. It was very good value and the drinks selection was extensive, I chose a bottle cider😋 Would definitely recommend eating in this place👍and would like to come back again when we visit them😀

I like the Berro lounge for it's ambience. Unfortunately though it is always short staffed. There is no waitress service but often nobody at the bar to take your order. Two of us ordered the Bang Bang Chicken. It was tasty but was supposed to include tenderstem broccoli and sugarsnap peas. It had neither. We tried to attract someone to tell them but couldn't. No-one came to ask if our meal was OK either. It's quite pricey so would expect better service and to receive what you're paying for. Not sure if I'll go again.

We've been here many times. I really enjoy going. The service can be a little variable if they are busy, but they are a great group of young staff who work to go the extra mile. Unfortunately the quality of the food has dropped with a new menu & chef. Over cooking the buttermilk chicken making it solid & I won't be having the bang bang noodles again as dry with lack of sauce & flavour. But to go for a drink or perhaps a Tapas snack it's a great venue. Decor is typical for the chain, quirky & looks a bit tired now. If they had background music playing it might help to lift up the general atmosphere as its such a space.

Decent brunch. Service can be a little slow, despite the large number of staff. Good value. Dog friendly, too, with treats and water available for your furry friends.

Brilliant place, nice staff, decently priced food and cocktails, crowd is abit naff due to the local chavs and people with their kids but otherwise our date night with the partner was not spoiled. Will be visiting again!

Been to a number of the Lounges across the UK & they all follow a similar theme, whilst all having a little bit of individuality. Staff at Berro are great and very friendly. Good range of food and drink available. Table service in operation and the option to order from your table using the QR code so no need to download an app.

I had to wait for my train so walked into Dockt to find this gem—the menu has it ALL even kombucha and plenty vegan gluten-free options! Friendly staff, warm atmosphere. Heavenly find on a cold wet evening lost in a new town. Would like to come back.

It's OK, some odd looking people work their but pleasant enough. Music was loud but couldn't make out what it was just thumping base or something. Food was quite nice but portion size was a bit small for the price. Would go again though.

This is a bit of a half hearted attempt; not really sure what it is. You walk in and waitresses look at you, but don't approach, so you're not sure if you should go to the bar or just pick a table. I didn't try the food, but it looked appetising. No proper ales, just an American style IPA (which isn't an IPA at all), so I would have left, but for having agreed to meet friends there. Resorted to an overpriced Italian lager, which was standard. It could be so much better with very little effort.

It's was cold inside and white a bit was off the menu. Drinks are very expensive. When food arrived it was well presented and tasted nice.

Had a lovely meal today with a friend. As soon as we walked in got greeted with a friendly member of staff and asked if we had any food allergies or requirements. We got seated and told to order at the bar. It’s a relaxing vibe and clean. We ordered at the bar and the lady was super friendly and served me quickly. Food came out fast and was delicious. No complaints especially as I’m super picky with food and they didn’t mess up my order changes. For 2 meals, 2 drinks and 2 sides it came under £40! Which is great value! I will be defending visiting again. A very pleasant and enjoyable experience

Food - when it came - was good. But there was a wait and service poor. Cutlery brought across after food arrived. Strange. Sauces were a hassle to get. Biggest issue was service - the App to order on is clunky and ordering at bar slow also. A strange approach to allergies - the person on the till can't take an allergy order, not sure why. It had to be a manager. When the manager came no questions were asked about the allergy and he didn't even ascertain which meal, out of seven, was for the allergy person. Quality of food good. Portion size reasonable. Value poor.

Felt welcome and enjoyed our time here. Seems like a well oiled machine, people at every table(lunch time on Sunday) yet drinks and food came out in good time. Tasty coffee, menu provides a pleasant amount of vegan options.
