On the way home from Hertfordshire to Herefordshire did a quick search for ‘pubs near me’ and was pleased to find a Thai restaurant listed. What a fantastic find! Delightful staff, quaint pub, local ale & delicious food. We ordered salt & pepper squid with vegetable tempura starters and duck massaman, prawn red Thai curry & a fried salmon red curry mains. The food was absolutely delicious, the vegetables were fresh and meat & fish cooked really well. Really looking forward to visiting again! Highly recommend

A great meal - we’ve frequented other local Thai restaurants and this is our current favourite. Dining room a little rough around the edges, but don’t just a book by it’s cover… food and service excellent. We tried duck spring rolls, satay, Thai red, massaman and all was fantastic. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. See you again soon!

... that The Cricketers was no longer doing food. Fortunately all that has changed now and the chef that they have in doing their Thai offering is exceptional - fantastic to see Som Tum on the menu. Looking forward to many more meals there.

What a find, my daughter booked for 10 of us to dine on a Saturday evening as we were staying at the Oxfordshire golf club. From the off we were treated like we had been going there for years, nothing was too much trouble. The food we received was top drawer and reasonably priced. Should you find yourself this way we would highly recommend a visit. Cheers and thanks.

After a long Friday night drive down from near Manchester with my 18 year old son, we needed somewhere to recharge and relax. I had contacted the landlord earlier to check if we were OK to eat at 8pm. The reply couldn't have been more welcoming. On arrival we were made welcome by the staff and locals. Another nice touch was the landlord made the effort to come and come over and talk with us. The beer was spot on, and the food was fantastic. My son is a burger and chips expert and he rated it as the best he has ever had. I hope to be in the area again and this will be my go to place.

I was honestly impressed by this meal. A huge burger - cooked and dressed well - and some of the best wings I've had on this island. It's not fancy and you can certainly find "better" food nearby, but for a filling or cheap meal that the kids like, you won't do better than here. As a pub, it also does an excellent job. Plenty of seating outside on a quiet road with a good selection of local ales. Inside is rather small (think the pub for a small Welsh village).

This hidden gem has been lovingly brought back to life by a dedicated team of frankly lovely people. The inside has been brightened with a coat of paint and cleaned up to offer a fresh perspective. This is a small pub but it’s got a huge personality , exceeded only by the friendliness of the team . This is a local pub but you are made to feel welcome right away. Charming regulars, cute dogs a well stocked bar and a new additional side garden with its own bar a little slice of heaven. The menu is plentiful, great classics like fish and chips , burgers , hot dogs. Prices are more than reasonable.all the food is cooked fresh to order, none of this ready made rubbish. We were welcomed back this weekend and everything was run like a military operation , face masks - table service with a smile - a one way system that made sense and happy smiling people. They even ordered the sun for us! Lee or badger as he is locally known is the chef, comedian, barman and very much the host with the most. The rest of the gang are an equal match for enthusiasm and they are lovely. Book yourself a table and experience a real English pub you will not regret it.

A warm welcome awaits you at The Cricketers from David and Jo. Friendly service along with a good selection of food. The takeaway service is also great with good communication and covid restrictions being applied. Can highly recommend the buffalo wings- a great asset to Wheatley.

The food here is REALLY good. Quality, locally sourced beef burgers, perfectly crunchy chips, the onion rings and mozzarella sticks are fab also. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. New owners have put a lot of effort into doing up the garden areas and making the place nice. Good selection of drinks available.

We visited the pub for the Steak night special. It was amazing! We had a T-Bone and Fillet and both were very tasty! Being a very picky Steak eater myself, the Chef recommended the Fillet and was cooked to perfection! The pub had a lovely atmosphere and served an array of drinks. Recently been taken over and refurbished bringing a village pub back to what it should be. Will definitely be back soon!

Decided to visit this lovely little pub, tucked away in LIttleworth and sample one of the much acclaimed burgers that we had heard about. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and plentiful .The pub has gone through a much needed renovation. We are now welcomed into a light and modern interior and there is now an additional garden area to the rear of the pub with bench seating. The Cricketers is a traditional pub in every sense with genuine hosts that go out of their way to make sure that your visit is memorable ..would recommend you sample their hospitality ,you will not be disappointed.

We popped in as we were staying near by for a couple of days in Oxford, we walked in and my heart sank, We (wife, son 12 and I) just wanted a simple supper, the place had dozen or so locals and they all looked around...paused...then all smiled and said hello! We asked if we could eat and thought they would say no, we don't do food! Ha ha the lovely lady said yes of course, the locals said go that way near the fire. It was a chilly night, simple food, very well priced. The chilli I had was awesome. My wife and son had scampi. Cannot praise them enough, a small pub with a massive personality. Really pleased we found it. Just perfect for us for a quick bite in a very friendly spot. Probably not great for a first date, but meal with friends if you enjoy a traditional English pub, this is not a gastro pub....thank goodness! Top marks

Our first visit to this small pub/restaurant on the outskirts of Wheatley. We can echo the comments of others that we received a very friednly welcome from the landlord.Small car park could probably accomodate four cars, but it seemed most people were locals and must have walked. They have a few special nights when you can get a meal and a drink for £10, so we took advantage of their FIsh and Chips Friday, which came with mushy peas and a pint.Quite a good selection for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free options. We sat outside in the small garden which contained three tables.Seemed very popular with the locals, and was filling up nicely when we left.

Visited the pub on our way back to London after a day trip to Oxford. Really friendly staff and locals. Burgers were delicious and the kids menu had good selection. Our kids both opted for sausage, chips and beans... followed by ice cream. Needless to say two very happy munchkins. Would happily recommend and return if we are in the area again! They have a very informative website too!

Looking for a 'local' venue with good food. The Cricketers was precisely that. Welcoming, and with good, hot food at a great price. Took advantage of one of the offers of the night with an inclusive drink. Good humoured, friendly local clients, log fire.Close to Wheatley and East Oxford, just a few minutes drive into a village setting.

This little village pub is a real gem. Has won many CAMRA awards for its consistently excellent real ales kept in fine condition by landlord Stuart. The guest ales change regularly due to fast turn over enjoyed by locals and visitors from further afield alike. Home cooked food here is great too. Landlady Angie prepares home made pies, real hand cooked chips, superb chilli and several other tasty meals at reasonable prices. Friday is fish and chip night with home made mushy peas and a free pint of ale ! We were saying in Wheatley for the weekend and saw this place on Trip Advisor. It's tucked away and parking's not easy. However this is a proper pub that's used by locals with good beer and home cooked food. The menu is a bit limited, but this is not a restaurant. The home made nachos are to die for. Chilli, lasagne and scampi all good with proper chips. The pub was having a birthday party and was full. If I lived in Wheatley, I'd always be in here.

Lovely food and friendly, warm service. A nice relaxed setting and worth enjoying the light bites menu to share with a smaller group. Nice cafe situated in the old bank. Staff are always pleasant and nice choice of cakes. Tea nicely served in pots on wooden trays and cakes nicely served on wooden platters. Reasonably priced. Tiffin cake was nice but a bit stodgy. Very dog friendly with free doggy treats. The cleanest toilet ever! Unfortunately there was an overpowering background chemical smell in the cafe. Would definitely visit again.

A very pleasant cafe with outdoor seating in the picturesque village of Dorchester on Thames, just outside Oxford. Parking is easy and there are horses and llamas to see in a neighbouring field. The food is tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. My salt beef sandwich was excellent, and my wife enjoyed her chocolate and walnut cake. The village and its abbey are also worth a visit.
