Very disappointing. No food available. Surly barman was " too busy" , despite pub being almost empty, even to heat up a pie on Saturday lunchtime. Nice fire only redeeming feature. Website needs updating.

We had a lovely lunch today April 2021, no Sunday roast due to outside dining but the food was delicious, freshly made: homemade coleslaw, great burger and fresh fish. Family and dog friendly, new seating area, although we chose to sit in a smaller area, in the quiet rural location just the birds tweeting. Not far from Pangborne or even Reading TC..

We went for lunch on a Sunday lunchtime during reopening from the COVID closure and garden only dining, so no roast because of this but the food was fantastic. Freshly cooked, very tasty juicy burger with smoked bacon, homemade slaw. My partner had the fish and chips; again lovely fresh fish. Great price too.. New seating areas, quiet rural location but not far from Pangborne or Reading TC. Also lots of walks...

Four of us had lunch here and it was very nice, portions on the large side. Ham, egg and chips not the norm but with belly pork, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and chips it was nice but why mess with good old ham, egg and chips served with thick slices of home cooked gammon. Friendly service in a nice old pub.

Good beer and friendly atmosphere, too early for food as only just reopened after lock-down but optimistic it will be a vast improvement over the previous surly occupants. Hoping it will again become a friendly village pub after a good start. Give it a try!

Having been to the Sun quite a few times before and enjoyed their pizzas on a number of occasions, my wife and I took a stroll out on a Friday lunchtime to have a bite to eat and a drink. We weren't aware until we got to the pub that it had changed hands but once there we thought we'd give it a go. The service was very lacklustre, no Renegade lager - just Carling!?! - and the menu now only consisted of simple baguettes and sandwiches, which although filling weren't anything like the quality of food we'd previously had before. Shame. Won't be returning any time soon.

Great authentic home-made food, really good friendly service too. Fully recommended for couples, families, friends and walkers! Dog-friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating available :-)

Thank you for a great lunch. The food was freshly prepared, quality ingredients, authentic pub and Italian food, sourdough Neapolitan pizza, hard to make a menu choice as it all looks so good, beer very well kept, extensive list of spirits, friendly and efficient staff. We had venison pie, and home made burger, excellent. And Weissbier. We will come back!

We visited for Sunday lunch as a group of 6 mountain bikers. It's a good cycling friendly pub, even when you are all top to toe muddy!

Had great Sunday meal here today with group of off road cycling mates. Although covered in mud, we were made to feel most welcome. Lovely fire to warm us - food served quickly - great roasts and pizzas. Pub has upped it's game recently and is a great place to spend a couple of hours

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time! The fish was fresh, the batter perfectly crispy, and the flavors were amazing. The chili sauce is a must-try—absolutely delicious! On top of that, the customer service was excellent. Highly recommend this place!

✨ This is how pub food should be! 🍽️🔥 If you're after cosy vibes, exceptional dishes, and warm hospitality — The Black Horse in Thame (just outside Oxford) needs to be on your foodie radar! 📍🍷 We were seriously impressed by the elevated gastropub experience — beautifully presented food, flavours that hit just right, and service that made us feel right at home. Here’s what we enjoyed (and highly recommend): 🧀 Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé – light, airy, and full of rich cheesy goodness 🌱 Pea, Broad Bean & Feta Croquettes – crispy, fresh and packed with flavour 🦆 Duck Breast – served with citrus glaze, candied orange & creamy dauphinoise 🥩 8oz Rump Steak – paired with a dreamy Béarnaise sauce 🍨 Rhubarb Crumble – Wye Valley rhubarb + rhubarb & elderflower ice cream = perfection From the hearty mains to the refreshing seasonal dessert, this meal was a standout! 🙌

I am a kind of burger fan, my other half celebrates the national fish and chips day here 😊, but I would say here the Scottish Cod and the Berrick Burger are the non-plus ultra of pub food nationwide ✅ All ingredients supplied by local farms, bakeries. Hospitality, kindness, five stars, A+ class. Pets friendly, playground for kids, beer garden, spacious carpark, friendly locals. Strongly recommended place☝

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at Oak restaurant, at Crazy Bear - Stadhampton. Fantastic service and food. It was clear that Callum, the chef, took enormous pride in his creations. Highly recommended.
