KingFisher Fish and Chips in South Oxfordshire

I like to dabble in a fish n chips supper now and again and decided to come here as a one off to try. The portion sizes (going to different places) varies but this place was baffling. The fish seemed way over cooked to the point it seemed to beg for a drink and the chips seem old (I am not trying to throw an accusation out but this is how it seemed in my experience) it could have been a lot better and service seemed a bit lacking

Excellent fish and chips. My son loves the battered sausage. We regularly go here and always enjoy the food.

Always cooked fresh and really best for miles ! We always choose here, the chip portions are rather huge but really they are soo tasty !

Overpriced and poor quality. Will not go again, advertises one price and then overcharges. Would not reccomend

The best fish batter, fish and chips I have tasted for a long time. The environment is ‘Extremely clean’ meeting all the current requirements. I’m a local and a frequent user and highly recommend this local gem. JB

Visited tonight and was so pleased to find the service and quality is still there. Staff polite too Difficult times but their well geared up for it Ordered My Fish and chips and saw it all put in the frier fresh Waited while it was cooked and saw it removed and packed carefully Took it home and sat with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed it all Well done Kingfisher

Had a lovely meal from the kingfisher on Thursday 11th June All cooked fresh while you wait, delicious cod & Tasty batter best I’ve had in a long long time 👍🏻 Friendly polite staff , well worth a visit Thank you all at the kingfisher

Proper fish and chip shop with a hardworking team of our friends nd colleagues from middle Europe. I only hope that they stay after the madness

Just had Fish and Chips this evening Freshly cooked Thoroughly enjoyed them - as good as they can get

I needed a quick bite prior to running a large hike from the village and KingFisher did me proud. Large cod and chips turned out to be huge cod and chips. Both items were cooked to perfection. Thoroughly recommended.

25/01/19 Well Thought I would try it again after going elsewhere for the last 12 months or so and things have improved immensely the Chips did not taste refried and were really nice and the Fish and Batter was lovely too and not greasy, I had a large fish but only because it was so small the last time over a year ago and it was Large indeed Will try again in a couple of weeks and if it is still as good it may become regular

Friendly staff and great chips! Always good for an easy dinner. Park behind in the COOP car park. Huge battered sausages ;^)

I ordered fish and chips they have different sizes not realising this I was give a large portion the fish was fresh the chips were good my wife had fish cake which was better than our local chips.. This chippy was very handy as wet were camping down the road.

Good portions lovely fish good prices try and you won't be disappointed and nice tasty kebabs from chicken to lamb

It always seems busy here, so they must be doing a good thing. The Portuguese family that run it are really nice and do a good job. We've generally had very good quality F&C from here, although its not always perfect and on the odd occasion its fallen down - not sure why. Certainly in the upper ranks as far as chippies go though. Worth knowing that they are able to cater for large groups (20+ in our case) if given enough notice. As others have commented, chip portions are indeed generous.

Had the lunchtime special of fish and chips for £3 , excellent value as fish was fried fresh as I waited and generous portion of chips with large piece of cod . Service could vastly improve with a mere smile and some chat whilst waiting.

great place to have in Watlington. shame it's not open later! great curry sauce and cans of drink super cheap. they offer a lot of other options too which is fab but my preference is chicken nuggets and chips - staff friendly too.

I've visited this shop some time ago and my meal was excellent, I've heard it's changed hands and read conflicting reports.

It is a great fish and chip, quick and simple. Is one of the few fish and chip shops that offer deep fryed mars bars. Food is always nice, and ive never had a problem.

Never had a bad Chip & Fish take out here. Worth driving to over others. Fryers are clean & oil changed on regular basis is confirmed by quality taste. Enjoy!

Usually it is good here but is inconsistent at times with it being excellent but also not so great at other times. Service is always very friendly though:)

Stooped to get a quick snack, the chips were ok - but i have had far better. They were busy so for the locals I am sure its a good place.

Having seen the one and only other review, I thought I would write another. Although the fish and chips may not compare to some produced in Yorkshire, these are good ! The price is acceptable, portion size like in other places and the small portion at lunchtime for £3 is good value. The locals clearly enjoy the product as you sometimes have to wait for 15 minutes in a queue. The guys are from Madeira and are pleasant. They want it to be a success.

This Chip shop has been recently taken over a few months ago. Now both Fish and chips portions have gotten noticeably smaller. The Large cod being served was what was previously a medium cod, and its the same with the Large chips downsized to what used to be the medium portion. I don't understand how the proprietors think the customer won't notice. The Frying of the fish is inconsistent, last week crispy and brown to the point of cremation, this week pale and soggy with the unpleasant odor of fish which has gone off. And yes to rub salt in the wound they've put up the prices. Over the last few months I've tried to give it a chance with no luck.I won't be going to this chippy again.
