The best restaurants in Rother South East

Atmosphere of the cafe was just right. Sat outside in the nice weather and music was perfect volume and the smell of the food was enticing. However, when the food arrived it was missing sauce described on menu and order was not correct. The burger was quite rubbery and not enough sauce was served on the side. Overall it was a lovely visit but food was quite overpriced for what was served.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive friendly staff and a genuinely comfortable place. Food excellent and all reasonably priced.

What a great place. Warm welcome with a great atmosphere inside. Very polite service and the food was excellent. Will be going back when next in the area.

Another great meal at this warm, cosy and inviting pub. We sat next to the wood burner which was nice and toasty. One of us had the Belly of Pork, my mouth is watering at the thought of it! One of us had the special which was bacon and onion suet pudding……You get a generous bowl of veg each and one of us had new potatoes and one had chips. Dessert was clotted cream rice pudding……Heaven! We are lucky that this is our local pub and it couldn’t be better! Cheers!

Inexperienced and untrained staff. Waitress didn't know how to make a Gin and tonic. No water for shower in the morning and inaccurate billing.

Had a wonderful lunch today with family. The food was amazing. The staff were lovely! They know their food and good with advice to help you choose what to have. They consider dietary requirements as they have vegan and gluten free options. There are many vegetarian options as well. Look forward to coming again.

Everything was perfect. Ready to collect on time, packed and help to the car. All our guests said how delicious the food was and the huge pavlova looked fabulous! All so yummy and just what we needed for a sunny garden party.

I have been eating Indian / Bangladeshi food for 62 years I am on a golf holiday with friends.As I enjoy spicy dishes I looked on Tripadvisor for recommendations of this restaurant. There were excellent reviews so decided to give it a try. When you arrive the restaurant looks a bit tired from the outside. Don't let this put you off. The greeting we received when we entered was excellent. There was a very varied and extensive menu. I know most Curries start of with the same gravy and other spices added. We started with poppadoms and chutney freshly cooked poppadoms not oily. The four dishes we ordered came .Nice size portions and all really tasty . I ordered Bombay chicken,back in the day it normally was a chicken portion on the bone with a boiled egg and potato. New style is diced chicken. Tasty all the same. I also ordered pashwari nann this was the best nann I have ever tasted. It's a pity I live so far from this restaurant otherwise I would be a regular customer. Would certainly recommend this place for polite pleasant service an excellent food

The perfect venue for a private party. Easy access by train or car, gorgeous garden, well stocked bar, first class service with a smile, the best wood fired pizza outside of Italy! Nothing too much trouble for Paul and his team (= family) who are just brilliant hosts.

We have been before and been impressed. This time we stopped off on a Sunday afternoon. Ended up ordering the chicken supreme at a very reasonable price. Absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend this place. Staff are very friendly as well.

Go through the dowdy antique shop frontage into the tiny, almost cramped room behind and prepare for a treat. We three all picked the all day breakfast; proper bacon, real butcher's sausages and all the trimmings. At around £6, with coffee refills, we couldn't have been happier!
