Inexperienced and untrained staff. Waitress didn't know how to make a Gin and tonic. No water for shower in the morning and inaccurate billing.

Very disappointed with the Claverton , my friend booked a meal a few weeks back for 20th July. We had a taxi booked & was looking forward to it , my friend got a text on 17th saying we have tried to call you ( she had no missed calls on her phone) we are cancelling your booking on 20th could you let us know you have received this text. She rang them up to ask what was going on and was informed by a rather abrupt person that they had a wedding, I can only presume this was booked long before we booked our table so why take our booking then let us know only a few days before that it is cancelled. Needless to say we will not be returning.

We were here 13 years ago and because it was so fantastic then, we wanted to come back here again. We were very disappointed when we were no longer personally welcomed as before (with a drink and a snack). We weren't really offered a clear alternative to eat (their restaurant is closed on Sundays). The (inexperienced) girl behind the counter lacks proper training. It was nice to sit in the sun-drenched Biergarten, but the price for a drink was way too high!! The garden was still beautifully cared for. The new rooms were functional, but were missing some important details (such as Kleenex, shower cap, a refrigerator that is already on with, for example, 2 bottles of water in it, a spare roll of toilet paper (preferably sturdier), etc.) In the narrow bathroom, the sink was much too small, so it was always wet on the floor. We put all our hopes in breakfast, but the girl who had to take care of it turned out to need even more training than the one at the reception. The portions appeared to be rationed. There was no more yoghurt and we had to wait more than half an hour for the croissant/cakes/sandwich that were part of our chosen continental breakfast. We never saw the croissant and ordering a large pot of milk and a pot of hot water turned out to be an insurmountable problem, which meant that we had to drink cold coffee due to the long intervals and had to wait for toasts every time because they were only delivered sparingly). We also did not get exactly what we ordered despite repeating twice: for example tomatoes were missing. The girl's product knowledge was clearly lacking... For the price we paid here, we expected better service and better quality. For that amount we would have found better accommodation… We would have preferred to give 5 stars, but the disappointment was too great

Lovely little hotel with a nice park. Our small room was very clean, comfortable and ideal for one night. We really appreciated the welcome and smiling availability we received from Molly. We weren't very hungry but were able to order a tasty snack from the lounge bar. What a great experience!

All good. Breakfast room a tight sqeeze. Could do with just a bit more space. But food and service great. Would definitely stay again.

Go through the dowdy antique shop frontage into the tiny, almost cramped room behind and prepare for a treat. We three all picked the all day breakfast; proper bacon, real butcher's sausages and all the trimmings. At around £6, with coffee refills, we couldn't have been happier!
