Atmosphere of the cafe was just right. Sat outside in the nice weather and music was perfect volume and the smell of the food was enticing. However, when the food arrived it was missing sauce described on menu and order was not correct. The burger was quite rubbery and not enough sauce was served on the side. Overall it was a lovely visit but food was quite overpriced for what was served.

A convivial, friendly place to stop, with nice food and attentive staff. If you want a day out on the river (you can hire kayaks, paddle boards and boats) and a nice meal to top up afterwards, this is the place to come to.

Recommended to visit this cafe but left a little disappointed The staff were super friendly & attentive but the breakfast wasn’t great. The egg was overcooked, the mushroom was filled with grease, watery beans, the sausage had zero colour and was almost mushy inside and I don’t know why but the sourdough toast, whilst served with butter, was coated in grease & tasted dreadful I had a mocha which was delicious It’s next to Bodiam Boating and the campsite so the location is great

Visited this place for the second time today. Enjoyed an amazingly delicious and healthy lunch in the sunshine. We were warmly welcomed and found a seat immediately, served very quickly and every single team member seemed happy to help all customers. The cafe has plenty of parking and offers camping and walks nearby. We enjoyed the falafel and halloumi dishes from the lunch menu (pictured) washed down with fresh apple and cherry juice. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared. Highly recommended. Best to book if you’re a large party as this is very popular especially at weekends and summer holidays.

So disappointed after hearing such great things about this place. Came to the Tapas evening. Would not have described as Tapas, very poor quality. Most of the dishes were served cold and some seemed to have been prepared earlier in the day. The vegetarian menu was a joke, expected the guest to eat Side dishes served with the main meat/fish dishes, and since when have falafel been Spanish?! Really odd, falafel, more like mash potato. Overpriced, diners expected to eat three courses using same same plate and cutlery. Will not be returning. such a shame.

We visited Lime Wharf in June 2023 and on a number of separate occasions. The garden always has a great atmosphere with music, the bar and a delicious selection of food to choose from. The boat/kayak/paddle board hire is always a great activity for the family and friends. If the weather is nice, I would recommend going earlier or later in the day, as parking is limited. Also, make sure to book in advance, as they are often in high demand!

Having just returned from the long BH weekend at Lime Wharf, it justifies a 5* review. Brilliant. Lovely. Tidy. Friendly. I could go on. From arriving Friday to leaving Monday, every staff member was polite, smiling and chatty- one even said how good a boss Alex was to work for ! The team members were efficient and polite from 8 am to 8pm- never faltering. We stayed on a Non electric pitch which was flat, sizeable enough for our 7m tent, and didn’t seem overcrowded in the camp field despite being fully booked. Facilities were good, mains connected and clean. The little pop up bar and garden area were a delight to sit in and relax after being in the river - the only thing I would say that it would be great if they stayed open later !!! We had SUPS/kayak hire and that was all easy to arrange and great helpers at the waters edge for the novice one ;0) We stayed as 2 family groups and then for the last night just my 11yo and I, so that meant a cheeky full English in the restaurant before we left which was great- the sausages were awesome! On leaving Alex popped over to wish us well and a good winter and hoped we would return n.yr, of which we will- that was a great touch from a busy boss who we saw clearing tables, manning the phones and sorting out the electronics for entertainment all while giving guidance to his team. A shout out to ?Izzy? Who was manning the bar one min, to the boat hire the next and who I was teasing about chilling in the deckchairs after a very busy weekend! She always had a beaming smile. A great place to spend the weekend ! Thank you LW !

Five of us got together for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I had reserved a table and I am glad that we did because it was extremely busy (when we arrived, our table was the only one with no one sitting at it). It's not surprising because, first of all, the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful and, secondly, the "Full English" is just what it says it is; full and English. There's even a larger one called 'The Big Breakfast'. The youngest member of our group, with the largest appetite, ordered it but it defeated him in the end. There's Gluten Free choices, which pleased my wife. The value was also good.

Even a morning phone call to check we still wanted to go ahead as the forecast was so grim. So 15 of us (including three littlies and a couple of teenagers) had coffees while we assembled, an hour’s boat trip on the Danny Lee, followed by a really great tapas lunch, catering for various dietary requests, sangria and more hot drinks. Having never been before and because it was a lovely day, we stopped for a quick lunch. It's a lovely building with a beautiful view and clearly people were enjoying their tables so we were anticipating a good deal. The fact that there are so many options on the menu should have rung alarm bells. Oil and balsamic vinegar with bread that was either stale or unsuitable for dipping because it just broke up. Haloumi in a wrap was precooked hours ago so was tough and cold - the wrap wasn't a wrap but a cheap toastie with cucumber and a spread of tzatzicki, it was difficult to eat and so dull I gave up at half. My husbands sandwich of granary bread spread with mashed avocado and a slice of aubergine and a red pepper was so bland and slimy again he gave up. A side order of spicy fries turned up non spicy, so when we questioned it a pot arrived with some power which apparently should have coated the fries? It was very evident from the amount of food remaining on out plates that all was not great, but the guy just cleared the plates without a smile or query. I guess we're not very good at formal complaints but the food was poor. Great location but we won't be returning. Look at your menu - don't offer so much and taste it first.

Back again before Christmas and the mince pies in filo pastry did not disappoint - just like our previous cream tea visit. We were a little sorry the Cafe was closing till February but management deserve a break. I understand some are off to Spain to learn new recipes to tempt us. We have supported Lime Wharf since we arrived on the borders of East Kent and Sussex and will continue to do so. Warm welcome, good food and our family members have enjoyed spending time relaxing in a canoe on the canal.

I first went here near the time they first opened and it was good then. I return a few times each year (ever decreasingly) in the hope that it will be as enjoyable as the first couple of times. It hasn’t been. The slack service, which was endearing originally, becomes tiring and littered with more and more mistakes. The portions got smaller, the prices went up and the quality went down. Calamari in particular took a massive hit going to tiny portions of the cheapest frozen type available. Went part of the ingredients for the ice cream we ordered wasn’t available loads of other stuff was piled on and dropped off with a “we didn’t have any banana so I put loads of this on ok”.... message. No it’s not ok we want to know that before. Every time I’ve been I have to ask for butter!!!! It drives me crazy. No people don’t eat toast without butter, (and if they do let them send it back) no matter what excuse you troll out to pad the issue, that you are penny pinching.... I could go on and on about the constant disappointments, the “we have a table, oh someone’s taken it”, the “there’s no parking spaces, oh there’s one”, “here’s your drink, oh no it’s wrong” or here’s your astronomical bill for 4 disappointed people but I won’t. I will however say that truly the most upsetting part of visiting so many times over the years, is, watching the lady that owns the place be quite so fantastically rude. It’s embarrassing to see just how rude she can be and how often it happens. I’ve conversed with staff several times who have apologised about her and even explained how difficult she makes their lives, having to try to pacify offended customers, cringing really. I’ve seen this enough times for it to be undeniable. I don’t go there anymore. Shame really. The foods not bad when they’re on form.

Just a lovely lovely cafe in the most beautiful setting! Food and smoothies were fab. My partner mentioned how good his breakfast roll was many times on the way home. Very unlike him!!!

Very nice camp site. The cafe is handy and the food is very good, and also dog friendly. The is also a nice pub with good food and dog friendly about five minutes walk across the bridge. Only one recommendation from us would be to include a fire lighter with the logs and fire pit. Kindling is included, but we had no paper or anything to get the fire started.

We had lunch with three Tapaz and desserts. The tapaz were delicious, lovely flavours. The ice creams are excellent, and the Apple and cinnamon slice is heavenly. Superb flavour. A very friendly cafe, more like a restaurant really with the quality of the food. The photo album of their journey was very interesting. The young man serving us who is about to embark on his final year at uni was excellent. Good luck to him.

We visited with our daughter and her baby boys aged 3 and 18months, we enjoyed 2 breakfasts each morning of our stay and a truly scrumptious bbq on the Saturday evening. For £14 per adult you get an amazing choice of wonderful fresh salad and a variety of tapas style prepared meat/fish dishes served on a warm flatbread. Not your average banger and burger bbq. Together with some really chilled live music and some late summer sun we had a wonderful evening, all wrapped up by the time the babies needed their beds. There is a cocktail bar in the garden too, but we did not sample these this time, but will on another visit. We did not have to drive as we were camping in the adjacent field! I guess the only fly in the ointment, or wasp as it was!! They bugged us constantly, obviously not the fault of the cafe but a nuisance with the babies!! Other than that, I would urge you all to get over to the Lime wharf Cafe.

This cafe is linked to the Lyme wharf campsite but is so much more than a campsite cafe. An amazing range of food; full breakfast, tapas, bbq or afternoon tea to name but a few of the things on their extensive menu. We were staying at the railway retreats just down the road and popped in for breakfast on the first morning of our stay. We returned for afternoon tea and then breakfast today. Great place, wonderful friendly staff and a great relaxed vibe.

We have been to Lime Wharf Cafe and camping a couple of times and each time we have had a wonderful time, even in bad weather! The place is so well run and everything has been thought of from fire pits and logs to salted caramel ice creams to glasses of wine in the evening. If that was not enough the river is wonderful for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding. Everyone should go!

We found this wonderful spot a few years ago, we hired kayaks and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. We have since bought a tent for the sole purpose of staying over to enjoy more! This is our third year camping and despite the rain, it was as magical as ever, kicked off with a fabulous lunch followed by two delicious breakfasts - glamping!!

The perfect venue for a private party. Easy access by train or car, gorgeous garden, well stocked bar, first class service with a smile, the best wood fired pizza outside of Italy! Nothing too much trouble for Paul and his team (= family) who are just brilliant hosts.

Cold, unwelcoming, unhelpful and the crushed new potatoes where full of grease. It's a shame as we are all local but when they turned the fan heater on and turned it towards the 1 person sitting at the bar we realised then we weren't welcome!! The waitress told us they had had a busy day and she was tired " we where the only table in there "!

Three night stay. Staff were very helpful and accommodating but the ‘luxury’ room was a let down. VERY small bathroom, unfinished tiling and floor and cold. Dust everywhere, dead flies and cobwebs in glazing, bins not emptied during entire stay. Very limited toiletries and tea/coffee tray. Old pillows without protectors. The breakfast was good but every item had to be ordered individually, nothing laid out for us to help ourselves to and there were no pastries or cereals

We used to have great breakfasts in the past at this location but we were both very much disappointed by paying 40 pounds for being served old bread under our choice of breakfast. First it was like it had been toasted several times at an earlier time that day and tasted like old toast and was extremely hard, thin and a very small slice of toast, that was not cuttable or biteable. When I asked to change it, I received then a slice of old, dry untoasted bread in a place that sells fresh bread every day. It felt like the avocado had shrunk a lot and the egg was cold as it came back within minutes. My husband had the same, old, dry bread under his choice of breakfast. The small amount of ginger and turmeric shot, was mixed with too much water too. The prices for eating out in general have been shooting up enormously in England in the last two years, however, sadly to say, the quality and service in some places have been going down. There seem to be a lack of awareness amongst the owners, chefs and services, that some people also have to work a lot to be able to have the luxury, which it is becoming more and more, to eat out and that they don't want to spend their money on badly prepared or bad quality of food for high prices.
